Any idea why Santi hasn't been offered a new deal?

Apparently he has ate too many mince pies and can't fit down the chimney anymore.

Oh wait, that's Santa.

Sorry mate.

From a source he wants to stay and is happy to accept a new contract. Although there hasn't been either an agreement or a suitable one offered. There is some interest from Spain if a deal can't be agreed.

Also from 'a source', I read quotes from Santi stating he's happy at Arsenal as long as he's playing for such a big club - if he wasn't playing he'd be thinking about other offers and it depends on what's planned for him next season etc, but right now he's happy at Arsenal.

Aaron won't stick around if he can't get regular football and right now Caz deserves to be first choice but he will be 32 in a week's so we need be thinking of finding his ready made successor next summer.

I agree G62. I said the same thing.
Its not about how great Santi is, its whether we let him go so Jack and Ramsey have a chance to stake a claim, or they go and we buy someone else. Santi may be good for a couple more seasons, so only he and AFC can make the call on when he can't keep up.

I kmow many knock jack and Ramsey, but everyone did until a few seasons back when Ramsey was amazing. Similarly Theo until recently. Surely, if Wenger is keeping Jack and Ramsey he thinks they can perform. Either way, they need a chance to perform regularly in a role suited to them, and in a solid team which there hasn't been before, or let them go. If we're Keeping santi, I can't believe Aaron will stay.

Jacks Bournemouth performances should dictate wether he stays or goes IMO Jim, if at the end of his season long loan the only clubs who bid for him are none champions league clubs then is he good enough for Arsenal?
On the other hand if he starts to consistently perform at a high level for Bournemouth and attacks big bids from the like of city utd Chelsea plus Europes elite them he will have proved he's the rwal deal and someone who can play a big part for Arsenal.

I think we've already replaced santi with xhaka, neither are really a dm and both have a great passing range.

62 I don't think Jacks performances will dictate his future, he has the ability, he needs to prove his injuries are behind him and like Ramsey then build his confidence into his ability to stay fit. So the vast majority of the season under his belt regularly playing 90 minutes is what will decide his future with us.

I think if he can do that then he'll get another opportunity to play for us next season whatever his form may be.

Your probably right Red but usually players who go from smaller premier league teams to the big clubs get to do so because of thier performances have made them stand out from the crowd, my view is f Jack can't stand out consistently at Bournemouth then he really shouldn't be at Arsenal.
Just my view but I prefer people picked on their performance rather than thier name.

It's a different world - this is what AW has to compete against:

"Man City will give Pep Guardiola £150m to spend in January
City splashed out more than £175m over the summer as Guardiola stamped his mark on his new squad. "

So City, Chelsea and Utd have somewhat unlimited funds yet we still moan we can't beat them.

It's like a decent size company trying to outsell Apple or Microsoft.

Give Wenger another few years!

Good to see your keeping the Arsene out campaign going SY :-)
Its all gone a bit quite on that front, well until now you've brought it back to mind that is :-)

Liverpool were in the black in the summer, I don't think they will be looking at it like that. Leicester spent peanuts last year and chelski were one of the lowest spenders in the prem the year before. I suppose athletico might as well pack in now, they don't stand a chance against real or barca. I suppose dortmund got lucky against mighty bayern a few years back. Give it a rest.

It's not what you buy, but who you buy.

City have probably been the biggest spenders every year for at least 7 season's.

Have many PL's have they won?

G62,
The amount of cash they spend, they should pretty much win the PL every season :-)

Does anyone get why Campbell went to sporting? I know he went out on loan to get first team football but he's gone to a club with two other right wingers. I would've much preferred he stayed and we had sold ox.

with you there sm
Joel was one of your better performers last year and deserves to be in the pecking order ahead of ox. Ox should have been loaned imo. there's star quality in him but needs time to find his rythm.

It only have pains me to say, because I was in favor of signing him. But Vardy is going to have a rough year, career and regret snubbing Arsenal forever. Pas mal buddy!

Like they say better to regret the things you have done rather than the things you haven't.

It would be amusing after he was speaking from such a high horse about how snubbing us was such an easy decision. Found that very strange as he took a month to announce an actual decision.

Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

So not suited to Arsenal.

This time last season people were calling Harry Kane a one season wonder.
I'm no idea if Vardy will get back last season's form but like many Leicester players he's having a problem getting going again after such a high.

I hate Vardy but he has a PL winners medal and on 80,000 a week - if that's a rough career than I want to be doing whatever it is you do for a living!
