We get more than our money's worth outof Giroud, he will 20+ a season as per last season.

Ozil is paying a large chunk off this season.

I like Olly a lot and pre this season you were guaranteed a 100% shift from him although there's been a couple of games this season he hasn't looked up for the game.
He may get 20 + goals but many of them will doubles in big wins, he's not in my opinion a fist chioce PL winning striker as much as I wish he was because he's a good bloke.

I don't think we should be comparing our own players to each other (I'm not saying its you Bambam) .
They are all important to the team and contribute in equal measures.

Ozil wouldn't be king of assist's if Giroud wasn't at the end of his pass putting the ball into back of the net.

All the players play their part, IMO.

That's true of the first 11 Dags but we do have too many squad players who are not really still with the club for football reasons.
Arteta few would argue his best days are long gone but he took a pay cut to join us so we we're loyal, Rosicky despite injuries he's been a cracking little player and stayed with us when others left for greener pastures, Gibbs he's been with us since a kid and is a good lad but if Monreal left in January would he be the man to replace him?
Every player is or should be valuable to the team and being lovely for nice is unlikely to make us formidable, we do need to toughen up on the criteria to be an Arsenal player.

Good point G62,

I did mean first 11 but forgot to mention it :-)

Just pointing out value for money which is something we look for in day to day life. :) :)

In my opinion, Ozil would be king of assists no matter who's up top: Walcott, Welbeck or Giroud.

He'd probably even be able to gift goals to Bendtner.

That's not to take anything away from Giroud because I rate him, just pointing out that Ozil will always find a way to assist - no matter which team he is in.

Olivier Giroud, what a class player and massively underrated even amongst Arsenal fans (am a huge fan of the guy)
So the question i wanna ask is why doesn't he get defended for what Mesut was constantly slated for: price tag.
People argued that Ozil did not do enough for a 42m player, yet people rarely ever highlight the fact that Giroud came in for a measly 12m (don't know exact fee)
I don't know about others but the guy is a cracking player for that price, and he is now a big game player. I don't think he gets the respect and support that he deserves
Thoughts guys?

Payet was 12m.

Iv been critical of ozil in his past two seasons and for me he didn't do enough. But like Henry said he's finaly woken up and is doing what we paid for top class performances. I do believe the Sanchez signings took pressure off his shoulders.

Giroud well bargain no doubt. But I still think higuain 35mill was the one. Or we should of gone balls deep for Suarez. Giroud decent player but doesn't scare defenders I don't think. Walcott competing for his place has put a rocket up his ass. Fully fit though I think Walcott starts.

I think we went balls deep (great visual Derby) , for Suarez but Gerrard slated us, I won't forget that anytime soon, he showed a complete lack of respect for the Arsenal - even though Viera used to whup his butt (sometimes balls deep)

I think we need to forget who cost what or could potentially be what ever and concentrate on what players do for the team and what the club achieves with them in the team.
Le Coq free Mesut £42 million but its irrelevant as there both brilliant.
As Honey badger said a while back its only Arsenal fans who are obsessed by the financial side of the game other fans only care about how the team does on the pitch and where they finish in the table.

Giroud is good striker option to have in your squad but not the leading striker for a top team that is wanting to win the major honours. In the hard tight games when the pressure is on your striker may only get one or two free sights at goal in the box or a single one on one so you need to have 100% confidence that he is deadly and consistent enough to put limited chances away. A sign of a top striker is one that for 89mins is dominated by the defenders but keeps going making the runs and gets that one opportunity to take advantage of the slightest of mistake and will score. Giroud has some good attributes and for 12m is a good value for sure he is just not reliable enough in front of goal. Put it this in a one on one with the keeper who would you put your life savings on scoring Giroud or someone like Saurez?

I like Le Coq but is it more that he is exactly the right type of player for that position rather than the fact he is a really good player and that Wenger has finally realized we need a proper holding player. Gilberto was the same (Bert was probably better in my opinion) . i. e Good player that you don't have to spend loads on but it exactly the right type of player.

Hopefully Wenger will be able to find someone for a good amount of money to cover Le Coq and challenge in long run.

Have to disagree, when he first came into the team, I thought the same but now I firmly believe he has the talent and skill to be our long term option. His timing on his tackles is spot on, and his passing game and awareness is improving. Not that I wouldn't love to see us make a move for Carvalho or Bender, but I think C.

I think Coq does an amazing job.
Very disciplined, sits in front of back 4 and covers from left to right as opposed to going forward.

Probably a bigger miss than Sanchez.

As it is largely felt that Coquelin does an "amazing job" (I'm sure some disagree, not even certain I wholly feel this) then surely we wouldn't need a Carvlaho/Bender to compete? We would need to blood a youngster (and I do keep banging on about Bielik here) or wise, older head to stand in for him during his injuries.

Personally, I would not object to a pricey established player, such as Wanyama, but I can also see the benefit of the youngster/oldster.

For me, Wanyama, Griezeman, Augbayemang would represent a fine three buys.

I actually agree with all comments but I think he does a great job because he knows what the job is, unlike an Alex Song who started to think he was fabregas. My only downer on le coq is I think he is a red card waiting to happen.

Coquelin has been excellent since his return from Charlton. However, our most successful days under Wenger were when we played a powerful duo of midfield players in front of the back four; Vieira and Petit - Vieira and Gilberto. I would like to see us sign Wanyama, who would work superbly alongside Cooquelin. Then in the summer window we should release Arteta and Flamini and bring a further defensive midfield player as cover.

This Season i think it will be of our own doing if we lose the league, as no team is superior to us in the title race. City don't look as good as they are made up to be, they've already been thumped twice this season (4-1 twice ) , am sure we wouldn't looked as favourites if that happened to us (especially at home) .
Injuries will decide our fate, Keep the faith and get fully behind the club, sometimes we are too of our own club.

He has gone back to Chile to work with National team physiological and to charge his batteries.

Wenger hopes he will be back for Xmas period, possibly the City game mate.

07 Dec 2015 10:27:48
No idea mate but I'd have thought it would make a lot of sense for him to have Christmas with his family and have some real quality recoup time.
All the time he's around he's going to want to play and the temptation to use him when not 100% would be massive so its a very good decision to let him recover from a distance IMO.

A big effort is needed from the team this week. A good week could see us in the last 16 of the CL and top of the PL. So let's get behind Arsene Wenger and the team. If we can surive in both competitions into the new year, we should start to see the return of players such as Welbeck, Wilshere, Rosicky and Sanchez. A couple of signings could take us through until Cazorla and Coquelin return.

We might want to hold off being top for a bit RG, apparently when ever we've been top in early December we've never gone on to win it.
Just a stat I read yesterday.
