Have to feel for Russia, they've done their country proud and on the positive side they've had a far better tournament than they dreamt possible a couple of weeks ago.
The competition always loses a little of its atmosphere when the hosts get knocked out.

It will be interesting to see who the Russians support out of the 4 clubs left.
I think they will turn up for Croatia to be honest.

You would have to expect that mate.
So far this world cup has exceeded most a lot of people's expectations on and off the field i just hope it continues to do so in the final week too.
So far 10/ 10 for Russia as hosts.

Great to hear :

Dickov claims he has been informed the players are being worked much harder than before under their new manager.

That's got to be brilliant news for us fans SY mate, we should be able to watch games next season knowing the team will be up for it in every game and that's a huge step forward for us.

Interesting comments from Dicov, which confirm reports that the training under the previous manager wasn't intense enough and confirms my conversation wth a young employee of the club, that training sessions were being doubled up. Previously he said there was only one session per day, under Emery this doubled to two.
A medical friend of mine felt that the players were poorly conditioned and hence the huge volume of injuries we suffered.
I am excited to see how we change under Emery, although we must be patient whilst the changein players, training and tactics occur.

Gunner62 how are you mate, England going Well in the tournament.
The arsenal players were holding England back for years now look at them without the arsenal boys. Now to be fair you have Danny not welbeck who is about the 6th striker in line πŸ˜€πŸ˜€.

Hi 12 mate, no Rooney no problem is my theory mate.
No over inflated personalities just a group of players giving their all for their country. Rooney was fine in qualifiers but at the main event euro 2004 was where it began and ended for him and his positive effect on England.

Southgate has got the players organised and togther, but it is one of the worst England teams I have seen. Don't foget we have been very fortunate with the teams we have played, having avoided all the major teams, except Belgium, who we lost to. If we manage to beat Croatia, the true test will be in the final. Mind you I'm not complaining as it's great to be where we are, in the semi-final.

I was 28 when we last played in a world cup semi final and obviously now 28 years later I'm 56, I'd gladly take waiting another 28 years for the next one if I'm around to see it at 84 :-) .
I think hoping for the 2074 might be pushing it a bit though ;-)

It’s the Yorkshire boys that are holding the team together.

Well done England and brilliant performance.
Really pleased for Gareth Southgate and all the players who have come from nowhere to equal our best ever achievement away from home.
They now have 2 great challenges ahead, the first to become our out right best ever England side away from home and secondly to become the greatest ever England side of all time.
Who'd have thought it?

Absolutely brilliant :-)

Great for M and S waistcoat sales - every penny counts saving another high street giant!

Well done England - great job. Someone needs to give Sterling an open goal opportunity so he can score and build on the confidence.

He worked really hard for the team mate and like you say he just needs his confidence lifted.
They've all done so well together, they are a team as Harry Kane showed today so well, yes he wants the golden boot but nothing comes before the team.

It's amazing it's only our 3rd wc semi final ever. With all the hype and expectation every previous wc you would think we always got there. It must of been so much less pressure on the team, I wish they would lay off more often.

Its interesting that England are having their best tournament for years without Wayne Rooney being the centre of attention on and off the pitch and all the countries who have a stand out dominant figure within their camp Brazil Argentina and Portugal have all gone home early.

The come back of the team who once again become much more important than any individual involved would be brilliant to see for Arsenal England and football world wide.

Southgates leadership skills seem to be super important and bringing out individuals to make the team loveable despite the team’s they play for and to play as one unit which is greater than the individuals in it. Lots of credit to Southgate and his leadership rather than just managerial skills.

What youngsters do you expect to have a break through season?

Nketiah, Maitland-Nile.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Jul 2018 13:10:59
Personally I'm a little sceptical of them all SY mate simply because of so many of our previous youngsters not really coming good.
Hopefully this generation will break the mould and really come good for us mate.

You have to hope that Reine-Adelaide, Reiss Nelson plus the two above make the grade and at least make 10 appearances off the bench in the league.

I think we need to win a cup - League Cup, FA Cup or Europa. Take all 3 seriously with clever rotation in the cups but no crazy youth team in the cups.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2018 14:57:31
I think teams like United Spurs and Liverpool expect their young players to be good enough week in week out in premier league or cups and make less allowances for them so they naturally expect more of themselves.
Our young players need to realise they must take what chances that get or they won't get many more.
Just my opinion mate.
