Have we made contact with any player? Any close to signing?

Hey guys, long time reader for about 2 years now and just starting posting recently, can't stop checking this site daily .
I would love to see us go for lacazette this summer, I think he would be perfect for arsenal. I see a lot of names mentioned like benzema, higuain and Martinez but imo there are they too similar to giroud who is great at what he does . Also lacazette wouldn't necessarily take girouds place upfront as I can see them playing together with girouds hold up play and playing it off to lacazette with his pace to get in behind defenders and skill to beat a player, he can play on either side of giroud too . He said lately that he would only leave to play in a team that has qualified for champions league, but this a dream transfer for me .

Also if you had the choice out of schneiderlin, carvalho, wanyama or kondogbia, who would you choose? As great as coquelin has been, he can't play every game next season so I think another defensive minded midfielder would be great for rotation .

Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks!

Welcome! I agree on lacazette. Wanyama for me, he's solid and only moves from side to side

Hi Berg welcome on board, the thought of rotation its self scares me, chelsea used least players last season and finished top of the league, there's pluses for rotating and keeping players fresh but IMO there are a lot more plusses for playing you're best team at every opportunity.
Spyder would be my DM option because he offers cover/ competition for Le Coq but is also they could be complementary to each other as Spyder and Wanyama.
I think Theo will be our striking option to Olly next season as if he stays it will only be to play down the middle its what he wants either with or without us and personally I think IF he is ever to become a really big star of the game as looked likely in his youth its his best position.

Agreed saint , wanyama is a destroyer and a underrated player , all the plaudits went to schneiderlin this season but without wanyama he wouldn't of got the freedom he did to push up field and showcase his talent in attack aswell as defence .

Yes g62 I'm all for if its not broken don't fix it , as excellent as Chelsea were they didn't look the same team with matic suspended and Diego injured , I thought they were very lucky with injuries also but I don't think they will be as lucky next season . I like schneiderlin as a player but with him brought it where would it leave Ramsey and wilshere? Ramsey recently explained his desire to play through the middle and I think he excels in the box to box role and I don't think schneiderlin will come to be 2nd choice . With lacazette he can be competition for giroud and there's nothing wrong with competition . Imagine him up front with the front three of lacazette , Sanchez and Walcott all rotating and the freedom to roam , imo it would be a deadly frontline

Agreed Berg chelsea did get away lightly with injuries last season but as they say you make your own luck most of the time.
I'm all for competition for places I think its essential for success look at Monreal how he's had to work to become our 1st chioce LB, for me having to many who expect to be playing regular football and trying to please them all spells disaster, if Arsene's ruthless then fantastic but I do worry how long Jack could handle being fully fit and not starting any premier league game and how long Arsene could resist fitting him in to keep a happy camp.

True , I think everyone has to earn their place even if that means grinding it out and waiting for a chance even if it takes a while . I do not like players coming back from injuries and thinking their first team spot is secure , but the thing is now with the size and quality of our squad , it's hard to find places for them and keep them happy at the same time . As I said though the more competition the better .

Might be a bit of fun to go on the team page and all pick our starting 11 plus 7 sub's from our existing squad plus the 2 new signings we would most like to see come in. (realistic options only :-) so no Ranaldo Messi or Garreth Barry allowed).
Be interesting to see who we can't find room for even on the bench.
