The first problem was to do with finishing too quickly, so contradicts the 'not finishing what you start' bit, she told me too :-)

I see Sagna is not a happy bunny.

Can't slate him off too much, he gave 100% every time he pulled on an Arsenal shirt.

But, just goes to show, although your neighbour may have a nicer house, the grass is not always greener.

Slightly different but was reading that Mancini is getting fed up with Podolski and don't think either will be winning trophies elsewhere having left or be about to leave us.

I guess Sagna has consoled himself with a sum for joining and a nice monthly pay cheque.

To be fair Dags if your current landlord says you can have your same very nice double room with TV but your neighbor offers you a house with a swimming pool surely it comes down to some extent how much your current landlord appreciates you paid your rent on time every time without fail and values you?

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2015 19:49:35
Yep, i think I read somewhere Mancini thinks Pod is a lazy so and so.

I think football has changed over the years, and work rate seems to be more of a commodity than skill.

Mourinho selling Mata being a typical case.

I think even Bergkamp would struggle in this current climate.

I hear you G62.

To mere mortals like you and I, we value the word loyalty.

But to footballers, very few display the same trait mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2015 21:28:05
So your saying that if someone were to offer you the same job as you currently have but with three times as much money as you currently get you would turn it down out of loyalty??

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2015 22:36:37
Yep Exiled,

It all depends on happiness.

Personally, I'm self employed, I have nobody to answer to, I work when I want to, go on holiday when I want to, get a lot of pleasure in my job and am paid very very well.

That said, I have a lot of pupils and work long hours, 7 days a week, but that's my choice.

I have been offered, many times in the past, different roles in my industry, including running a company for the same, if not more money, but have refused, because I like a 'hands on role' in what I do.

My happiness is one on one, teaching people to drive, and not sitting at a desk answering phones and ordering people about.

In terms of Sagna, whilst I understand his 'final pay day' move to Man City, he hardly plays, certainly nowhere near the minutes he got at Arsenal.

But, as Red Dog said earlier, I'm sure his pay packet compensates for his lack of game time.

Sagna 120k a week. 3 yr deal at his age is good. I do feel for him. I'd have him back. Joined in the draught. If he signed now at 24 25 yrs old wow.

08 Mar 2015 00:15:09
Totally agree Derby Sagna stuck with us in the tough times even though its difficult to think of a better premier league RB than him in his prime, like Arsene he had choices but held out.
IMO he was worth a big pay day in thge end with us for more than his ability as a very very good RB, loyalty does seem to be a one way street with players slated and clubs not held accountable by the same rules, just my view but good on ya Sagna

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 09:10:33
I actually thought they'd play sagna centre back sometimes. But now if we had chance of clyne or sagna. I'd take clyne.

AW : "I went with the club for the challenge of building a new stadium without dropping out of the Champions League and we made it every year, ".

"I feel that I have done my job in a very committed and faithful way. In 20 years it will be acknowledged that was a very sensitive period for the club. Today the club is in a strong position."

Now retain the cup!

Moving from Highbury to the Emirates was always going to be tough financially, the last two summer transfer windows have shown intent to mix it with the other top teams in Europe, including just hope we do the same this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think many managers could have done what Wenger did.

Try telling Mourinho he won't have any spare funds for 8 or 9 years and he would scarper.

He has been as loyal to us as we have to him.

He has earned our respect.

07 Mar 2015 18:41:10
I'm sure we'll spend decent money again this summer but the question is Arsene willing to spend decent money on stopping goals rather than scoring them?
DM LB GK CB is IMO where we most need to spend

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Mar 2015 18:56:25
Agreed - got to respect what he achieved, the stick he got, how professional he stayed and put the club first. I think we will look back on the trophies, legacy and style of football and only then realise how lucky we were to have Wenger.

"(I want to leave the club) in a strong healthy position which means a club with good players, with good youth behind and strong financial position to go further up and develop even more and I will do that, you can believe me.

"The guy who comes in after me will be in a very strong position to deliver something exceptional."

I get frustrated with the guy at times but he has done wonders for us and the next guy will have all the foundations.

I get the feeling Wenger knows when he will be leaving and has maybe already decided exactly when.

The team in its current guise is different to the gung ho sides that have failed to beat United on to many occasions recently. We have an opportunity to add belief and retain the cup. It's time to take another step as the new Wenger Arsenal.

I don't think there's a fan out there who doesn't think we've been exceptionally lucky to have had Arsene SY I think the doubts are about his/our future not the past.
What he has done for Arsenal football club is totally unbelievable and I truly hope his final few years as our manager turn out to be his best and most successful ever, a fairytale ending with a champions league premier league double would be perfect :-)

Totally agree Red.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 01:13:54
Like you say red I feel we should have a much better transition than utd. Great manager though he was fergie left the next guy a right mess. I would like the next manager even if experienced to work as wengers no2 for a season learning about the club and gradually taking more responsibility

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 16:46:39
You can't slate fergie tbh. Left them as champions. Not like he left then in 7th place. But fergies fear factor was huge when it went the players eased. I fink with us a new manager could bring more disapline and a will to win

If we can't get benzema how about an offer of 10 mill plus sanogo for Charlie Austin in the next window? Good striker. will provide competition for giroud. Thoughts?
