Disappointing game against Barcelona tonight but Messi and Suarez were on form in attack and we didn't stand a chance sadly. then you realise it was actually just how Arsenal made Rennes look.

It won't be easy overturning this 3 1 defeat in the second leg although it's doable.
The problems with the defensive side of our game aren't exclusive to our defenders or even just our players in general it comes from the training ground to on the pitch on match days, at least the sending off will let the ref take some of the blame for many fans.

In Emery our defence rusts šŸ˜‰

Matteo should hang his head in shame for the lack of tracking back for the 3rd goal. We wonā€™t give him crap as heā€™s the golden child but heā€™s cost us a lot of goals with sloppy play and lack of defensive capabilities. Hopefully he learns as time in his side.

Rambo shows him how to track back but we wonā€™t say that as heā€™s leaving.

Pathetic result.

07 Mar 2019 21:07:14
If Aaron had done more of that tracking back over the years I'd be gutted to see home leaving, lack of tracking back and simple defensive organisation has been our problem for over a decade and it didn't disappear when Arsene left.
Watch United suck us in and hit us on the break yet again on Sunday, it's so predictable yet it still works a treat, even Lvg won at the Emirates with one fit defender using their tried and tested Arsenal formula.

07 Mar 2019 21:20:05
Used to really piss me off Cesc knowing he could chip a simple ball over the top into acres of spaces for a Chelsea forward to run clean on goal. Even a donkey forward could expose us. Fast forward to City game - still the same with Emery, fast forward to present day - still the same against Spurs where we won put really exposed by a simple cross or over the top ball.

07 Mar 2019 22:18:28
We are still the mid table side (at best) defensively as we were under Arsene and it really isn't all about the personel and never has been. When our attack works it covers up our failing at the back sometime but when the attack doesn't work we don't have a 0 0 in us when up against it.
You've got to be able dig in when necessary if you really want to achieve more mediocrity.

Funny enough, that's the second game on the trot we have struggled when soc has departed before half time. Ten men doesn't help and a bizarre home goal. When we have had kos and soc in situ, we have done really well, when we haven't we struggle. I've got to say i'm far happier with kos and soc at the moment than the two jaffas up front. Auba and ozil, have got to give more bang for their buck, otherwise we are totally hamstrung. They are a disgrace at the moment.

Well at least VAR won't dig utd out on sunday.

07 Mar 2019 21:36:50
United gave it everything last night and have a lot of players out which might equal things up a bit because we should have loads of unused energy left over from tonight to spare going into this must not lose game.

08 Mar 2019 06:32:31
Weā€™ve won out last 9 away games, the only blots since Ole arrived have been at OT, 2 League draws and the PSG defeat. Based on form United should win but these kind of games never follow the form guide. Looking forward to a great game.

Based on form, we have won our last 8 at home, it will be a draw but i can see utds luck running out on Sunday. Lol.

So the rumours so far state that Suarez won't be getting a start again tonight. If he doesn't, he can't be impressing that much in training? Emery did say that he needed to earn his place in the team but come on, he couldn't even get a start against BATE. I would personally like to see a 4-2-3-1 with Ozil no.10, Suarez on the left and Mhki on the right. Auba up top seeing as we have no Laca but I wouldn't even be against Emery giving Nketiah a chance to shine. Need a good performance tonight, COYG!

Does seem strange to go through all that negotiating and effort to bring him in and then not give him a chance, especially in the Europa.

07 Mar 2019 12:37:05
Would love to see Eddie get a run out, especially if we don't see Suarez tonight. I can imagine Emery will send out the big guns tonight, try to get an away goal or two and keep it tight at the back, and experiment more at home.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 15:09:26
Yeah it is a bit strange but hey, let's hope he doesn't get fed up of sitting on our bench too. I'm sure he'll get his chance but he needs to take it when it comes. As for Nketiah, he keeps getting praise from Freddie which is encouraging and good to see.

We could do with Eddie Nelson and Maitland Niles all pushing into our best 18 and allowing us to use all and any funds on strengthing the defensive qualities of the squad.

Not to take anything away from United who pulled off an absolutely fantastic result in Paris with an extremely patched up team but?

Is everyone still screaming for VAR after the United penalty v PSG :-)
Would we accept losing like that on Sunday, with good grace?
I'm in favour of VAR but it won't make fans on the receiving end of a
Contenscios decision feel any less agreeved than if the ref alone gave the decision.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

07 Mar 2019 06:28:27
Didn't see it, so can't comment but didn't the ref look at a replay and give it. So it isn't VAR that made the decision as i understand, it was the referee of the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 08:02:20
Yes Steve your right mate, what I should have said was will people fell less agreeved after VAR than with with a refs instant decision if they still don't agree with it? Ultimately I think we will get less bad decisions which has to be a good thing but I don't think it will stop disappointed fans from being upset with decisions that go against their team.

Knowing what an upstanding and honest guy Neymar is Iā€™m totally in agreement with him that it wasnā€™t a penalty and the ball actually struck the defenders back. šŸ˜‚.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 10:37:36
Absolutely Stoner, I'm not sure why uafa don't let Neymar be a player/ ref :-) he's already player manager in all but name.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 14:17:26
And the one against Madrid on Tuesday and for them in the first leg. I hoped VAR would get rid of contentious decisions, but seems we're still going to get them. Although I was impressed the ref gave ajax the goal, I wonder if he ever refs for uefa again.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 15:11:48
I think, especially in Europe, you will always get bias refs towards certain teams. But bit by bit that also will get less and less. The strange thing was, initially i believe the ref didn't give it, it was flagged up by VAR and he looked at the incident and changed his mind. It would be interesting to see how many more CL games he refs in.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 15:42:12
I think eventually VAR will become much simpler faster and accurate but no matter how good it gets its always going to upset one set of fans who only want decisions that go there teams way be them right or wrong, if VAR favours their team one week they will love it but if it goes against their team the next week they will be critical of it.
Ultimately only neutral fans want right decisions all the time :-)
