Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

07 May 2013 23:30:03
If the rumours are true - hats off to Ivan and Co for the great new commercial deals.

Club is beginning to compete off the pitch which should now allow us to compete on the pitch again

This combined with some non renewal of player contracts should mean an interesting summer as long as we qualify for Champ League

Very exciting summer ahead

Just seen Wigan against Swansea who have nothing to play for, lose 3-2. Wigan play some nice, attractive stuff but seriously, they are shambolic at the back.

I know many will say that we'll be playing a side that will be fighting tooth and nail to stay up, but we have been defending exceptionally well and we will have loads of chances to hit them on the counter, and even if we don't create the chances, they will gift them to us anyway, if their recent form is anything to go by. Newcastle will be tricky but like Wigan, they have conceded many goals so it will really depend on the game tomorrow to see if getting CL is still in our hands.

With regards to Szczesny, well, he trash talked before the CC final to Birmingham, and it was partially his fault that led to their winner, so AW has to either tell him to shut up, or (what I would do) even drop him for the next game, because I certainly don't want him to be in a position where he drops another clanger that could cost us a place in the CL next year.

he got cocky in the game against the spurs last season. going in hard and winking to camera, only to give a penalty away at the next one on one

he needs to grow up - that's all

twitter makes them feel connected to the fans which then leads to stupidity as they need to be professionals at the end of the day

fine line as we want them to care and be fans also

Telegraph reporting that Fergerson will retire by the end of the week, even from an arsenal fan I'll be sad to see him go, him and Wenger have basically defined the premiership for the last 15 years. Hats off to our greatest rival {Ed029's Note - Both were expected to go next summer of course.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Now if only Wenger would follow him out the exit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well no doubt he is the best manager this country has ever seen and his consistency as well. League dominance.

but to say he is the best ever is just madness.

If everyone is judging messi by his champions league exploits, then managers who win there more often than not should be looked for that honour too.

not saying he was not a great manager. one of the best. not the best ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the second poster: wait and see, we'll soon have about 60million extra in sponsorship every year. Ferguson has always had a lot more money to spend than Wenger.

for me an ideal cdm would be diame from west ham, he's strong, has pl experience and wouldn't be that expensive. as for striker i'd like cavani or falcao but no chance there lol but I like higuain from madrid. gk adler or cesar,

Although this is a Wigan team battling for survival we should beat them because we simply are much better and also have it all to play for. They got FA cup this weekend so extra fatigue hopefully play part. Their 3412 formation on our large pitch? They'll get destroyed by Walcott pace.

Those last two games of the season looked easier a few weeks back but now they could be real tough games as both sides need points in both games.

Hopefully there is not a single Arsenal fan hoping we come 5th to teach the board / Wenger a lesson. This is not the school ground and we need to finish in the top 4.

SY4

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we do our job against Wigan then the last game of the season should be a non game for the Toon Army as long as they get a point after tonight's Wigan game.

SY4

Agree0 Disagree0

Well it depends on the game today. if spurs lose, then we need a win and a draw and we go away with higher GD.

if its a draw today. then we need to win both.

Wigan might end our run to the top 4 and stay up by winning last two games. or we will relegate them next wednesday.

or we draw and then we have to win the last game. depending on spurs vs chelsea outcome.

Ed, who in your opinion will be captain next year, and do u expect tv5 to leave?

CheetahChaz97 {Ed027's Note - I'm really not sure, the plan is to make Jack captain I hear, I don't know when though

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Arteta or Per

Would like Per given his standing and organisational skills plus always been a Gooner. Would not be the best communicator externally though which is part of the role.

Arteta for communication, lead by example and experience - won't do anything stupid

I like captains to be centre halves as they see the whole game in front of them and tend to be commanding

SY4

Arteta's always givin' away needless fouls towards then end. that's pretty stupid {Ed027's Note - Usually to kill the game off

God I hope Chelsea hold form and top four is back in our hands

I haven't been this worried for a neutral match in a long time. I hate this feeling of having no control

Our boys should be firmly fixed on Wigan. That team is no joke, on their day can produce wonderful footy

Monumental few days coming up

Coyfg!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Chelsea getting that unexpected win at OT has given them a big advantage now. If they had dropped points there it would not have mattered so much with the result with this match with Spurs as we would have gained on one or both of them. Now we have to hope Chelsea Win or at least not lose to ensure Spurs stay behind with 2 games to go for each.

And with Wigan and Newcastle still battling relagation these games are going to be hard for us.

Interesting one for all you wanting us to win something, me too, but
Man U, 1967-1993= 26 years not winning the prem/1st div
Liverpool 1990- still counting so 22 years
Chelsea 1954-2005 = 51 years
Man c 1968-2112 = 44 years
Spuds 1960 - still counting so 52 years
makes our 8 seem not so bad to me {Ed027's Note - That is the league, we are 8 years without a trophy, 9 without a league

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dont see the point in comparing our team to those teams. in this moment we are not winning, we are selling key players and settling for 4th best, that is the issue which needs to be addressed.

i could be corrected on wednesday, if its 5th best.

why does`nt Szczesny just shut his mouth and concentrate on doing his job. instead of doing the spurs pre match talk for them.

The Walrus

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Most of these players talk too much. they need to just get the ball and get kicking. that's what the great ones do.

last thing we need is to give them more encouragement. spurs may get fired up

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree he's always making silly comments. Usually followed by a high profile gaff.
Arsene should stamp this right out, but he never does.

With all the talk of Jovetic joining us and that we have may have even begun preliminary talks over a summer move, it got me thinking, why did we let Vela go? I know in the long term Jovetic will probably be better but, Vela is a great talent and has had a great season. He's a year older but got 13 goals, 8 assists, and we sold him for 4 million. This season Jovetic got 12 goals and 4 assists and will cost us about 20-25 million. I'm saying don't get Jovetic I think he would be a really good signing and I hope we do but just wish we hadn't sold Vela I always really like him and he scored some great goals. Is there any chance of him returning? I know he wants to stay in Spain, but I wonder if it was still possible that he could come back?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jovetic is just hyped would prefeer Vela and cash out were it needed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres a buy back clause for vela, I thought for 3.5 million

Agree0 Disagree0

You know he wants to stay in Spain, there's your answer he has no wish to come back to Arsenal - and really I didn't think he was ever up to the premier league anyway

Do we really need another winger with miyachi, gnabry, watt and campbell coming into the ranks next season I would happily get rid of gervinho to be replaced by these guys! What do you think fellow gooners?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Out of those players I can only see gnabry making the first team and he's a good couple of years away.

defiantly need a new winger who can cross and beat a man, promotions within like this will get us no were

Agree0 Disagree0

There will be some sales, there will be internal promotions, and then we will buy. what we need is to get rid of junk and that's wengers objective now.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're joking if you think any of them are ready to become first team regulars. Watt will get leave soon, neither Miyachi or Campbell have set the world alight on loan. Gnarby looks great but is not ready yet.

We need players are that can take us to a higher level and none of those are currently an improvement over Gervinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously - how far have we fallen. would any of those named get anywhere near the top 3 currently? Get reak if you ever want us to win anything again.

Heres a thought and I know I'm going to get a lot of stick for this but why not develop Kos into a def mid?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Because, he is an awesome defender, whose value has risen by 10 mill since we bought him and I would rather we buy a DM.

as it is we have strikers as wingers, midfielders as RB ad wingers, GK as striker and so on and so forth

Agree0 Disagree0

He doesn't have the technical ability to play in the Midfield. He is one of the best defenders we have and has to recovery pace to help Mertesacker.

TOP GOON

Agree0 Disagree0

Would rather have TV5 play DM as he is better on the ball, and we really need Kos back there to compansate for Mertesackers lack of pace. But I really think TV5 could be a good DM, and I think he could get himself som goals as well.

T-Ho

Agree0 Disagree0

Our defensive is questionable enough without the best player wing moved I'd be all for it for TV5 though especially how he was beginning of his career

If the sp*ds lose to chelsea we will only need a win and a draw to finish 4th. This is because of our big goal difference over them.

Ramsey, statistically has a 91 percent tackle rate

Recently he has reminded me of Cesc, receiving the ball deep and play channeling forward through him, except positionally (an area where Cesc is criticized at Barca), I believe Ramsey is superior and far more disciplined.

This was an area Cesc struggled, as he liked to get forward almost exclusively by the end of his run here. Hence he has not been able to replace Xavi, whereas we play Rambo deeper now, meaning he has developed. I'm not saying Ramsey is better than Fab, but putting it into perspective on how far he has come

Ramsey's positional awareness has negated Arteta's lack of speed. In this regard, I think Ramsey is better than a Sami Khedira, who I respect and watch a lot of. Except Khedira is a complement to Alonso whereas Rambo makes Arteta look better

We have ourselves a fixed starter and a world class midfielder moving forward. Good to have Rambo back, am salivating at the prospect of him and Jack developing together

One is 22 and other is 21. I believe they will surpass Xavi and Iniesta if they can stay healthy. Neither of the Barca men played nearly this much at this age, and technically, Ramsey was a starter 3 years ago and Jack 2 years ago

Incredible times ahead. and I haven't even mentioned Oxlade

Whoever we buy to play the pivot needs to be world class. An improved version of Arteta and our midfield will destroy teams next season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pa! I used to agree with the majority of your posts, but RAMSEY reminding you of cesc? that's hilarious, Ramsey (although improved lately) is still the most frustrating player to watch, he makes me nervous when he gets the ball, can't shoot and rarely creates anything of real quality

Agree0 Disagree0

Delusional comparisons ad always mate.

Scooby

Agree0 Disagree0

I say this with the utmost respect to Arteta, who should have joined circa 2007 so he could retire a club legend

He is a true model professional. At his age, he has basically done the impossible this season with that we have asked of him and how many minutes he has logged

He will be a luxury off the bench next season and deserves a trophy before he retires

Agree0 Disagree0

Blimey, I'll have a pint of what you're drinking. Most on here know that even as a United fan, I rate ilshere highly, but to compare him and Ramsey to Xavi ad Iniesta is plain silly. Let me remind you that 3 months ago thistle was full of people slagging off Ramsey.

AJH

Agree0 Disagree0

I like your optimism but let's not get carried away

Invincible49

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post! I must admit I was very critical of Ramsey before but is is quite honestly our most improved player! Ramsey has impressed and I can only see him improving more! He needs to improve his finishing a bit, but a few goals will sort that out and make him one of the best midfielders in the game.

Mark sagooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed - I think the answer is to play Jack and Rambo together - with Jack replacing Arteta. This would free up Cazorla to play centrally where he is much more effective.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought of them being a duo 2-3 years ago. unfortunately nothing goes to plan at arsenal. the injury capital of the world. one day at a time and keep the optimistic view.

lets hope our striker search is not another journalist, who could not be bothered to go to work, so he made stuff up in his dreams.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair to US, if you look at the stats, ramsey has been our best player over the past 14 games.

has the most forward passes in the games, most crucial interceptions. blah di blah di gooble blah.

the problem we are having is not defending lately. its scoring. are we back in 1995?

Agree0 Disagree0

If they become half of Xavi and Iniesta then that would be good. It also means we need a Senna/Busquets style player. I don't think a midfield of Ramsey, Jack and Cazorla is quite balanced even though it looks exciting.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, US Gooner. Ransey is good, he still makes me nervous, but has, and will continue to improve.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the original post, Rambo is Back!

Agree0 Disagree0

If people remove their biases and look objectively, Rambo and Kos have been our most consistent, best players since the New Year

1. We still need a pivot player

2. Those of you constantly barraging a 22 yr old kid who was the best mid on the pitch in Munich are fickle fans who simply want us to spend

3. Check Ramsey's stats, he has been an elite level CM when compared to ANYONE in Europe

Our fans don't know what they have sometimes until its gone

United would be clawing to buy Ramsey tomorrow if we put him on sale

Please don't respond negatively unless you've watched this game more than a year or two
