Well done today boys, not a classic United v arsenal far from it. europa is our chance and getting ahead of Liverpool is yours.
I think you will get there.

Fairplay Leahy. Respect.

I would be very surprised if we finish above Liverpool.

7 points behind, 2 games in hand, pretty much means we have to win all 4 remaining games to even stand a squeak of a chance.

You'd think West ham v Liverpool would be Liverpool's biggest hurdle but a home game against an all but religated Boro is still a hurdle for a Liverpool side that always insist on making a steeple chase out of a flat race.
Don't rule Utd out just yet though, league cup Europa league champions and 4th place in the premier league wouldn't be a bad first season for Jose.

Id back them away to win but for some reason at home can't break teams down. You would think its two wins tho.

Nice result today - would have been typical Arsenal to not break down a stubborn back 8 and concede a goal on the counter.

A couple of errors but Holding played real good again and nice to see Rambo get man of the match.

Not the most convincing win - but I will take the 3 points and the feel good Factor

You know you have a crap season when you get more joy out of how your neighbours under perform. It's been like that for a while with Spurs. Don't see Chelsea concerned about finishing above or below us or Spurs. They either win and are happy or don't and aren't. St Tottenham day was just papering over the cracks - who gives a crap about Spurs, I just want us to win.

I'm not saying this is the case SY mate but the end of your post does sound a bit like changing the rules to suit us mate, because for 20 years the bragging rights in North London were very important to us and we absolutely celebrated and laughed every time it became impossible for Spurs to catch us.
I'm not saying that's what your saying mate but it does sound typical Arsenal to change the rules to cover up for our own inabilities and look where a decade of that has got us.

I think you could tell that it is all going flat, today wasn't a proper arsenal v man utd game, it lacked fireworks. The crowd wasn't really wound up and not taking anything away because you can only beat the team in front of you, they are taking the europa league route for their chance of glory and champs league.

It does give us a little sqeak but it is a little squeak. When it is out of your hands, its wing and a prayer time.

When we were winning trophies - was St Tots day was important or winning? For me it was winning not Spurs.

Since our decline - St Tots day grew in importance

We should be more concerned about how good we are and not how bad are neighbours are

What do real title contenders hope to achieve

That's my point - for me I don't care where Spurs end up as long as we win - I measure us against Chelsea not Spurs.

07 May 2017 21:03:20
Sy its called bragging rights and after 21 years they have them. I don't think they or us judge our season on how we do against each other. They are not a bigger or better club than us at least not yet, just bragging rights.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 21:12:19
Cool SY totally agree there mate, can we also agree that Spurs are the new totally undisputed North London champions and we now live in their Shadow?

Yes and deservedly so.

Brilliant SY mate we deffinately on the same page and admitting it will get us back to our best again a lot sooner than pretending has ever done.

62 - just reread my initial post. I wasn't slagging Spurs off. I was angry at us being happy with St Spurs day in the past and now Spurs bottling it. We need to think bigger.

I'm with ou SY.

08 May 2017 08:15:31
Hi SY you were indeed mate and i'm sorry if I worded my reply badly mate, I just don't want us to do the usual Arsenal thing of dressing up our achievements for much more than they are really worth while playing down the things we were unable to achieve in order to make us feel better about ourselves, which is something as a club we've been brilliant at for years.
I just think all the stadium sugar daddies at other clubs and poor old us injury excuses have contributed enormously towards things getting so bad.
Apologies again SY for my poorly put across reply mate.

Gunner, that Sunday dinner with all the trimmings was welcome.

Steve my advice is! Eat drink and be merry for Wednesday we go to Southampton :-)
It's always brilliant to beat It and it's really nice to see Arsene come out on top against Jose at last I'm really pleased for him more than us today.

People will say Utd played their reserves or what ever but the history books won't say that and they will all never again say Arsene Wenger is yet to beat Jose Mourinho in a competitive match.

Despite hoping this season will be Arsene's last as our manager I'm still really pleased for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 19:35:21
Was not exactly a weak reserve Utd team was it lots of experience (The RB aside) and quality so still a good win. Lucky on first goal but I think we did do just enough in 2nd half to deserve the win.

Will it be too little too late though, Liverpool are showing their nerves now so there is still a slim chance of top4.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 19:54:17
Hi Ryan win the next two games and I will certainly reconsider my opinion mate as beating Southampton and Stoke away is no mean feat for any team and for Arsenal winning at either of those grounds let alone both in the same season has proved elusive to say the least.
My personal view has been for ages Liverpool will make way and drop into the Europa league and despite today I still think it will be Utd who take their place in 4th, I might well be wrong as I didn't think we'd win today but let's review the situation after Wednesdays and next weekends games.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 20:46:22
Gunner maureen is taking a calculated risk and if you are right about pool, then we have a free run. Man u won't be risking anything in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 21:07:15
Beat Southampton and Stoke Steve and let's take another look but I still think we have loads of potential to go backwards again this season yet mate.
As for utd? Well they will either be in the Europa final or out of the competition so either way will be concentrating on the league for the remainder of the season, they've not been great this season but 25 games unbeaten before today means they've got something to them somewhere.

Wenger in one interview stated that puplic criticism of players was counter productive, then in another interview about the spuds loss said the players hid, were scared to take risks, didn't close down and were not up for the game. Well that should be productive, i think the guy speaks with fork tongue or talks bullsheet.

Now when I say this I don't mean it to come off personally towards you Steve and for the record I do hope we bring in a new manager this summer.
However I am really starting to find the constant complaining and moaning about arsene so boring. It's like people go out their way to find something he has done or said wrong. Really puts me off this site. That being said appreciate everyone's opinions.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 15:06:24
No D the people are fed up with the crap that is said and that has and is going on.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 15:48:13
To be fair steve I see where your coming from and it further highlights the case that he has completely lost it. In the past even when his tactical had already gone he was a man of integrity and always was good for his word now even that has gone this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 15:49:12
Well they should be fed up with the board the team and the manager like I am. Take your other post for example. If we lose today it'll be embarrassing for arsene. Why just arsene? should it not be embarrassing for others as well as arsene!

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 15:53:50
I hope you keep posting 16 mate as you are a valued member of this page imo mate.
Arsene has hardly done anything to help the situation either on or off the field to be fair mate, all the "you will know my decision very soon, "stuff followed by " what I call soon and you call soon are different things ' topped up by 'you will know my decision by March/ April " which has now turned into ' I was wrong about the March/ April bit '

You have to admit 16 mate he has made it extremely easy for people to find fault with his bizarre words actions and decisions on and off the pitch mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 15:54:41
D what planet are you on, if that happens read the papers tomorrow and see how many blame the player or the board. that's what managers are the for, to make a club tick.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 16:07:27
Right Steve just because the papers only blame the managers doesn't mean I have too. Arsene has a big majority of the blame to take. Rightly so. But in my own opinion the board are not getting enough stick and nor are the players. Countless times the team has been more than good enough and let us and arsene down.

That being said I totally agree 62 he has not helped himself with things he has said. Which is why I want a change in the summer. Just for a long time it's seemed like a witch hunt on every single thing he dies which that guy deserves much more from us in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 18:01:46
16 total respect your feelings mate and I totally respect all Arsene did for the club in the early years he was absolutely brilliant back then, but i do feel he's been dinning out on those for 7 years for over a decade which is more than any other manager would possibly be allowed to do mate.

Arsene has been brilliant for Arsenal but let's not forget how unbelievably brilliant Arsenal have been to him and his philosophy that has been failing for years now.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 20:50:08
Over the years wenger builds his squad and the players he bought are the players he's put his trust in. If players don't perform usually the manager pays the price because they are his players whom he had scouted and trusted to do a job, the buck always stops with yhe manager, whatever the players do.

I'm going to watch tomorrow's game in size 8 shoes even though I'm a size 9 and half in reality, my reasoning is if after 90 minutes of watching Arsenal I feel totally dejected yet again the moment I take the shoes off I will immediately feel better.
I'm thinking of getting a pair of size 5s for next season if Arsene sings a new contract :-)

Steve your onto to something there mate, the Arsenal diet!
Are you Arsene thin or Arsene stout :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 10:46:29
We could have a new chant ready to use next season for every time our oppents take the lead
" Slim when your winning, we only slim when your winning " :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 11:35:03
I think that actually could be stans master plan with arsenal football club, big money in diet plans.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 12:20:04
Steve if we all follow your example of not eating in the week/ weeks following an Arsenal defeats Arsene will have done it again, only this time they will call us the INVISIBLES rather than INVINCIBLES :-)

Gunner at the moment it's the best diet plan in the world, it is working.
