Two points off the top. Heady heights indeed. Must admit Liverpool and Citeh are stronger looking especially citeh but i don't think we need to worry about that just yet. Top four looks there for the taking for chelski, toots, us and dare i say it utd. Keep beating the lesser lights this year and try and improve the weaknesses. Dick is the man.

Every Arsenal fan loves Dick! He is the man.

Taking shape game by game - exciting.

My thoughts too steve.
SY mate, that sounded a bit wrong for a bit 😂 😂.

Think most fans would of bit your hand off, if you asked would you take been two points behind the leaders at this stage.

We still have to remember we haven't beaten anyone above current 9th in the prem and our cup opponents were not strong. We have a massive distance to go before we can call ourselves top four contenders. Our strike force is most definitely league winning material and we should blow average defences away. Until thrashing a wide open Fulham, we haven't looked good in midfield or at the back. At the moment its all good and we will need a couple of very good windows but we have more energy in games and look to be making strides. Bigger test to come, to show up any weaknesses that are still there but happy days.

It was only Fulham but the pressing today by Welbeck, lacca, myki, torreira and when he came on auba was really good. Players are coming round bit by bit, especially good from lacca.

07 Oct 2018 18:28:42
Agree. It seems to me that that style Dick wants is beginning to take shape. Torreira was outstanding today, as was Gendouzzi when he came on. This was the first time the defence seemed to have some organisation. Only Fulham, as you say, but 9 wins on the spin and 4th place in the league did not look likely at this stage after the first two games of the season.

You have to give welbeck and iwobi credit, there are better players than them but iwobi is doing better and welbeck actually today created more chances than anyone and got an assist.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Oct 2018 19:50:25
Iwobi looks like a prospect out of nowhere, his new improved work rate gets him totally involved in the game and tuned in to the pace of the game. The talent was wasted without the effort but with continued effort and commitment suddenly the lad is a huge asset instead of a cosy club passenger.

Gunner i still see him as a sub in the "first eleven" but definitely deserves his place on the bench in the big games and with a bit more maturity and less naivety, who knows. Last season, he wasnt good enough for anything so, good luck to him.

We said at the start of the season Steve it was a fresh start for everyone under Dick and personally I'm no longer disheartened when I see Iwobi in the starting 11, in fact I'm quite excited to see the lads improvement now.
While they are producing and giving their all I'm happy with whoever Dick selects on the day.

Great win today, although Fulham are in serious trouble. Torreira against a poor midfield was excellent in midfield, tackled dribbled, passed and was dynamic. The sooner we get him playing with Gouendouzi, the sooner we will have a midfield that can be competative. Lacca and auba can take this team back in the top 4. Just the midfield and defence that needs stregthening. Bigger tests to come but lovely football in the second half. Killed off a struggling Fulham. We didn't miss ozil and against these weaker teams the squad is strong. Just the better teams we are behind.

I would say it’s only 3 that we are behind Steve, we are certainly up with Spuds now.

Agree BG but at the moment, we are still to prove it against toot and utd. When we play them, all will be revealed.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Oct 2018 19:21:19
Equally they are to prove it against us, last season is history, out of the teams in the top 6, we can say we are a very different side, the others can’t claim that .

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Oct 2018 20:24:18
We are a different side but i still think our soft center will catch us out. But we will see soon enough.

07 Oct 2018 20:18:36
Suddenly we have to be favourites in the 4th place race, United may turn a corner but it's anyone's guess what is happening or will there next, plus we have 5 point lead over them as we stand.
Spurs? Can only see this season getting tougher and tougher for them.
Of the 3 clubs likely to fight out 4th place we are the only ones on the up and we are improving every week right now, long way to go and a lot can change but so far, totally unbelievable transformation from who we've been for over a decade and now.

I think xhaka has been playing well steve.

08 Oct 2018 16:54:08
Crybaby, i am not sure what you see he is doing well but go on talk sport for their ratings (which have nothing to do with me) and they sum him up perfectly.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Oct 2018 07:22:09
You mean untinarsenal talk sport lol they hate the gunners, I’ll use my own eyes to see what he does and I’ve been impressed so far like everyone said to me when I said about emery, everyone has a clean slate.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Oct 2018 17:37:27
Anti arsenal talk sport meant to say lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Oct 2018 20:17:06
I think they have him spot on. We won't go anywhere while he is in midfield. So limited in what he can do and like i say talk sport or not, i know of no rival fans who rate him at all, in fact they think he is one of the worst in the prem. Not one would have him in their team.

9 consecutive wins says it all and back into the top 4.

They are playing like a team now.

07 Oct 2018 18:51:10
If at the start of the season someone had suggested we'd be within 2 points off top place after 8 games I'd have either laughed and written then off as delusional or thought everyone else was struggling too.
But truth is City Chelsea and Liverpool are far from struggling the pace is really high with the top 3 averaging 2.5 points per game and after our difficult start we've been 100% which is incredible in Dicks first season.
I'm extremely impressed but keeping my feet firmly on the floor and expectation levels on a 4th place challenge.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Oct 2018 19:12:27
Gunner, our weaknesses are obvious and they are not going to go away by magic but unlike wenger, i really think Dick and the scouting team over the next two or three windows can bring in and take out the players needed. We don't need super stars, just solid young good quality defenders/ players. i'm not bothered if we don't bring in one attacking type player, that's not where we need the surgery. That is for later.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Oct 2018 19:57:24
By the end of this season we will all know more than we did last August or do even now about what we really need Steve mate, who would have worried about Iwobi leaving last summer or Holding?
Who knows who might come good yet under Dicks leadership mate?
The blokes even stopped everyone moaning about Xhaka inclusion in the stating 11 :-) now that's some achievement:-)

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Oct 2018 20:22:08
Not me gunner, for me he is still a passenger. Lol. He is too limited, i don't see us going anywhere near the top with him in the team. The good thing is, for the future, we have a player to replace him. I thought today, he was struggling and yet again out played by his partner. Torreira did far more than him and didn't shirk, unlike him. I just think he is the weak link. It was a struggling Fulham and he just shirked his responsibilities, backing off tackling. He got caught in posesssion and gave the ball away far too easily. And my biggest pet hate, he turned his back while defending far too many times. Still his partner covered for him again and got stuck in, that's what we need.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Oct 2018 20:26:11
I wasn't going to mention his name just because there was so many good things today but you dangled the hook. Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Oct 2018 21:55:08
There is real improvement from him Steve mate but no he's still not a premier league top dog midfielder but we are only 20% into the season let's see where he and everyone else are in May, so far we a fast improving side with lots of players playing above what we've seen from them before now.

First time in a long time I have actually really loved watching Arsenal, especially in the second half. It was an absolute delight!

Also all the signings look good, Leno looks good. Even Iwobi and dare I say Xhaka . Holding and Mustafi looking better. Sokratis looking better each game . Torreira is looking like our kante (and no I’m not taking the piss) . Miki looks like he’s really trying hard and enjoying his work environment. Rambo looking good, oezil been a lot more creative last few games. And then if that’s not enough we have two very high class strikers. And what makes it even better is there both scoring at will. They are great together we have two different type of striker the theiry Henry type fast, graceful and lethal in Aubameyang and the classic striker like Ian Wright at his best in Lacazette . Tougher teams to play I know but I’m very happy with today.

Missed the first half as I got called into work, but second half was brilliant.

Can't remember the last time we had two reliable strikers, if the both keep up this form then top four is a easy achievement and possibly top three.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Oct 2018 14:25:52
Plus we have two very very good keepers.
Everything has been lifted by Dicks training and work ethic, firstly the players efforts followed by the fans interest levels and real passion once again for all things Arsenal.

Can't wait for the next games to get here now and haven't felt like that since the 13/ 14 season.

07 Oct 2018 13:38:43
Is this really the same team that Wenger had? The tackles at the back from the likes of Mustafi and Bellerin especially, the confidence going forward especially shown on the 3rd goal. This club really is looking to be on the up again. Even noticing the away crowd more.

Work effort commitment and absolutely no longer any room for those who enjoy the more cosy relaxed way of making a living.
That's the biggest difference between now and then and it's lifted everyone who is prepared to accept change and be lifted by it, players and fans alike.

07 Oct 2018 14:13:59
I’ve seen a change in the players we have been negative about and not just a change in desire but in ability. I saw Xhaka make two passes with his right foot today and one was a first time pass and he took lots of touches with his right foot. I’ve said for a while that’s one of his main problems.

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Oct 2018 17:52:42
Agree BG, i think he needs to rotate, especially positions that aren't working 100%. Players need to be accountable for their performance and the europa squad, need to be given that carrot for all the games.

07 Oct 2018 11:17:44
No Mesut in the squad? Plus Pea on the bench.
I sort of understand Pea not starting but Ozil not in the 18?
Is he injured?

I'm looking forward to today's match, a win is essential as the teams challenging for the top four tend to be extremely consistent and when they play each other, Liverpool v Man C today, we need to take advantage of the points dropped by one or both teams.
The good thing today is that only a couple of players who played the full 90 mins during the week will probably play, so the team shouldn't suffer from fatigue.

Unless it's head to head I don't think we need be to worried about Liverpool and City results this season as I think they along with Chelsea they are fighting a slightly different battle to us Spurs and United this season.
Spurs are going to struggle throughout the season because of poor planning and United as we've seen are all over the place as an entire club which leaves the 4th place door very much open for us to challenge for.
All we need to do is concentrate on us and getting our house back in order this season, if that results in a 4th place finish that would be a fantastic first season under Dick but what's really important is going into next season with a fully committed squad that who not only have the ability to challenge but just as importantly the right mentality and a real hunger and desire to challenge.
I'm enjoying this season the most I've enjoyed a season for 5 years and I have real hopes that the next 4 or 5 seasons will just get better and better still.
