Totally un-football related but I hope you don't mind me sharing this>>>

Your very own Dagenham Gunner has recently found out he's going to be a grandad for the very first time.

Woo-hoo another Gooner in the family, whether he likes it or not lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Good for you.}

Congratulations buddy, if u need me to send himtheir first Manchester United onesy u let me know, he is from london right? Need to make sure he fits in with the locals lol :-)

P.s I must admit thou found out about a week ago, Malaga's 'sources' told me there was a stalk on stand by in the London area. At least I think they did, it was good stuff ;-)

Happy for ya mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ed

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol thanks Chris,

I think you know where you can put your MU onesie lol.

And yes, i'm surprised Malaga didn't predict it a few months ago, he's always on the ball our Malaga. (smiles)

Thanks again Chris.

Agree0 Disagree0

Congratulations, maybe they'll call the child after you. Beckham called his Brooklyn, why can't a child be called dagenham. My real name isn't Flybo, it's actually Walton on the naze.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol thanks Walton

Agree0 Disagree0

Congrats dg, CRT my sister in law is a united fan (my brothers strange doesn't like football) and my two nephews are arsenal fans, and will not entertain anything united, so I trust you will do the right thing dg:)

Right, you're Wenger, you get to pick one;

Costa, Martinez, Pato, Berbatov, Mandzukic, Morata. Personally, I'd go for Martinez.

I know other names have been thrown about, but this are the ones I can think of at the moment.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Does Wenger play on-line or on his own?}

Lol @ ED002's reply

Costa for me mate, a damn fine player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Costa all day long for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

COSTA! Written in capitals for dramatic affect.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2014 04:17:39
Mandzuckic for me would seem a safer bet than costa, not to take anything away from costa he is a fantastic player

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha good one Ed :P just interested to see if there is a general consensus with what a best striking option would be (fans point of view obviously)

Just watched the Man City vWest Ham game, god, West Ham are so poor. If they carry on like that and end up in the Championship League I would imagine any televised games they have in the new stadium will have to be recorded/ filmed with the help of a green screen backing to superimpose a crowd, otherwise the place will look empty. LOL

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Golds,
I don't know if you are old enough to rememebr but when we did the North Bank up at Highbury we had a massive poster of people supporting Arsenal behind the goal.
It was called "The Highbury mural".
We could lend it to West Ham lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm 56 now Dags going on 17. Now you mention it I can vaguely remember that. But do you know what you have to laugh at things like that who comes out with them ideas? It must have been a period of us going through a bad spell as the north bank was a bit quiet.

Agree0 Disagree0

He means when we put the box's on the North bank when it was being developed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah no that was the clock end haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, it was when the North bank was being re-developed into an all-seater stand.

i said just after last window shut that rues and draxler were the next 2 coming in at arsenal. one next summer and one in the jan window. now things seem to be changing slightly as we need either a player that can fill wallcott role or player for each position. I have now been told that's we are trying to get both now, but draxler seems more interested and rues not really wanting a change b4 world cup so another striker is being looked at incase rues still don't want to move yet, but looks like draxler is up for the move now (as he wanted to wait till after world cup too originally) as he knows with walcott out he will get plenty of game time and not harm his world cup chances. 25m is the price being mentioned though i'm not sure, and apparently AW willing to pay the 32m for costa if again he agrees to move b4 world cup

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gooner1010 I hope you are right mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take either of them either Jan or summer! World class! Isn't it funny, after Ozil coming in, anyone is ACTUALLY possible! Before that, we all deep down doubted the names mentioned. Good time to be a Gooner I reckon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Greeny, Ozil was definitely a statement signing for us.

Regarding the walking wounded -does anyone know what this illness was that floored OG for a fortnight?

he's still showing as returning for the villa match is that right?

Always seems a mystery with the Arsenal players injuries.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jan 2014 20:50:56
It was just something minor I believe, he was back in the training photo's with the rest of the boys. He actually looked like he'd lost a bit of weight.

So don't see any reason why he won't be back for Villa on Monday night.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have been trying to find news on his illness Exciled but can't find any.
Hopefully he's fitt but if not Poldolsk or Gnarby down the middle I guess mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Originally an ankle injury but than he had some sort of illness. Bit vague I know lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

I had heard he got food poisoning but also had an ankle niggle. Don't know how true it is though

There's a lot of talk about us signing players who either few have heard of or know little about from abroad! If our need is that immediate and urgent as some people feel it is surely we need premier league experienced player who doesn't have to adapt to a different style of football as well as a new team.
If we really are in that much need we have to go for a prem player either be it 30 to 50 mil or a short term bargain buy.

If we are not so desperate what's the rush? Let's go for top class when we are more likely to get real value for our money in the summer.
Are Gnarby and Ox up to it? Let's find out I think

Believable0 Unbelievable0

G62,

It's January the press go nuts, sly spurts being the worst just to get people betting on whose going where.

I'm taking it Arsene is doing something and if he finds a player he wants and can get he'll be here.

It's hopefully only 23 days and another 9 points in the bag before we find out.

By then Bendtner will be back and The Ox and Podolski will be fitter. Heck we may even see Sanogo in the pictures at training.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with both of the above posts.

Sanogo could turn out to be a a hero or a zero, time will tell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags be honest what do you think Sanogo? Hero or Zero. Go on stick your neck out on that one . Smiles

Agree0 Disagree0

Haven't seen enough of sanogo just hope not related to diaby

first of all I would like to send my best wishes to theo and hope he comes back stronger and better. miracles have happened in the past and you never know he might still be on the plane to rio (fingers crossed). with theo injured it has opened and closed a few doors for arsenal, it has opened for gnabry and ox to push for regular first team football and closed for the option of theo playing upfront for now. I hope the players react positively to theos injury and put in a performance week in week out, we are now coming towards the last lap of the season the final third where the winners are determined by their willingness and drive to be successful, we have been consistent for the last 12 months and may it long continue into the latter stages of the season.
I hope wenger uses gnabry or the ox to fill theos void and not put ramsey or jack there, we look more balanced with a true wide player. rosicky or cazorla could also do the job but me personally they along with jack or ramsey are better in the middle. wenger should still buy a striker and more importantly look for a quality defensive mid with power and pace, wengers hand maybe forced with theos and nb52's injury.

hulk hogunner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There was a bit about theo on SS this morning and a top surgeon bloke there's to be in charge of a big team of Sports injury staff said that Theo shouldn't be rt of the worlc cup yet - gave the Baggio who apparently played 20 minutes and scored 2 goals in a World cup match at 35yrs old 77 days after ACL surgery. He played a full 90 mins WC match 13 days later

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha great name

Agree0 Disagree0

I had an ACL done by the guy that did Gascoignes 20 years ago by the name of John Browett he was the top top man for the job then and with all the after care physio etc it took me at least 4 months. But here is the good news. Nowadays ACLs can be done in a lot if cases with keyhole surgery and Theo will receive the top top aftercare. I think from experience the biggest hurdle after this type if injury is the psychological side as you are terrified of doing it again and THAT! does take a while to get your head round.

Benteke to arsenal and young Portuguese midfielder willian carvalho

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jan 2014 19:09:01
To be honest I would be happy with a loaned striker such as morata and an attacking midfielder like pedro for now. Then Jackson Martinez or Diego Costa in the summer. I feel this would be enough to keep our title hopes up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Brussells, I would be chuffed to bits with that mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like to see Morata on a loan with option to buy then a class act in summer. If Morata grabs his chance and scores 10-15 till summer then there might not even be a need to buy a big striker. He will be (1) looking to prove real wrong for not playing him much (2) hoping for a world up place and finally(3) wanting to establish himself as a main striker at a big club. he has ability so hopefully he also has the desire to win that some rising stars lack.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jan 2014 18:40:05
Moyes is right, and in good LMA company that refereeing has been pisse-pauvre. Not biased, just crap. No understanding of the game as played. Anyone else think it's got much worse since Riley became head?

But funny to see United complaining they get the same standard of refereeing the rest of the league gets. I wonder if SAF forgot to write the ref entitlement clause into his successors contract?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The refs continuous and increasing problem is that whilst on one hand the scrutiny of the world and all the cameras is always on them - the managers and players don't care about whether a decision is correct they just want it to go their way. The players have almost perfected the art of 'creating a foul', they dispute even the most obvious decision, they try as hard as possible to get their opponents booked or sent off, and they constantly put the ref under pressure to influence future decisions of the ref.

I believe that if the referees were to be given help and support and the encouragement to book players for cheating and to absolutely book any player who approached them in a threatening or abusive manner - it would go a long way to restoring the game to a game of skill/fitness/strategy. The biggest problem refs had has now retired and it should be a good starting point for restoring control.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post exiled.

If a defender commits a foul in the box he is normally sent off and a penalty given against his team, even if it wasn't malicious, maybe just mis-timed.
With that in mind, if a player does an obvious dive and is looking for a penalty, why is he only given a yellow card?
Sorry, that's blatant cheating and bad sportsmanship and totally ruins the game.
"Simulation" should carry an automatic red card, IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

You got the right dags.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post Exiled. And I think a couple of the younger refs are doing a good job. But I wonder about some of the instruction and performance 'metrics' put in place. And it seems that a lot of refs are focusing more on the rules of making certain kinds of calls than refereeing the game in front of them. It's an art, not a science.

I would never go at a ref for missing a call, they don't get replay like we do and they are all human, but I would go at them for misreading the temperament of the match.

And for caving to managers, especially one now retired manager.

Was really good to see Clattenberg call over Dawson and read him the riot act of rotational fouling. First time I've seen that.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jan 2014 17:57:32
Morata is an awesome player and I would be extremely happy if we got him

But

We are not a feeder club. Loan? Wtf is that? So we give him matches and experience and send him back a better player?

Are we broke?

Spend some damn money and keep your dignity. This "let us loan your player, " us kissing their ass, if reports are true, is preposterous.

1st place team in Prem asking 3rd place team in la Liga to loan their 3rd striker, Jesus Christ is this a joke?

Buy a damn striker and act like you've been there before, unreal

Sorry, rant over

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I understand what you're saying USG, but there aren't too many options- good thing about Morata (a part from his ability), is that he could play in the CL.

RM rate the player highly so are unlikely to sell (unless it's stupid money)- I think wenger is trying to do the best he can with who's available, etc.

I wonder if there's forward in S.America? Pato perhaps?

Agree0 Disagree0

Although Wenger may appear to be stingy he is actually doing the right things in my eyes as paying for a top notch striker in January inflates the price greatly, also morata seems like he could be a great asset to the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jan 2014 19:10:23
I do not call that a rant

I call it logical thinking

Nice rant, lmao!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it shows that wengers first choice buy is not available at present and may be in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

USG,

If we get Morata on loan and he scores goals and wins us the prem I don't give a h*ck lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Thing is if Morata joins on loan, plays well and likes the look of the team and enjoys life in London he may well push his agent to make the deal permenant as he is down the pecking order at Real and Alonso has signed an extension 2 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's fine, but I'm opposed to developing someone else's talent

Agree0 Disagree0

I hear what you are saying USG, but come on mate.

Look at Bendtner, we loaned him out to a few clubs, so he can progress and be a top striker, we have him back and, oh hold on, actually you are right, sorry mate lol.

Edoo2

I was told something very interesting this afternoon, I won't go into details

Is it true we have interest in 1 of the big name forwards that moved to France in the summer

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Vincent Aboubakar is of no interest to Arsenal. Regardless of what it says on Twitter.}

08 Jan 2014 17:56:30
It was not him ed

I was talking more of 1 of the players that cost over £50mill

Keep away from trubbishter ed they all talk rubbish on there

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about.}

08 Jan 2014 20:39:34
Malaga,

If you are implying we have a chance of signing Cavani or Falcao this window, or summer window aswell for that matter, you are barking mad.

Please stop pretending to be in the know.

Agree0 Disagree0

But that ruins the mystery Detroit! Its fun watching none of his claims come true! Let me have some fun! Not like my team is giving much atm. good old Charlie, the gift that keeps giving :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

For god sake malaga so now we will never be signing Cavani or Falcao. Add another two to the list :/

Lewandowski
M'villa
Hazard
Neymar
Fabregas
Lars Bender
Casillas
Higuain
And now Cavani and Falcao

And they are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head :D Keep going mate you will get one someday.

Hi Eds

Not a transfer rumour but was just wondering if the club were close to agreeing a deal with Bacary Sagna?

Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed033's Note - The player profiles web site is still there

The profiles are still there, however I think they need updating atleast once every 3 -6 months. It would b for th better because fewer people wil ask stupid/time wastin quetions that fil up th rumours page.

Has anybody actually seen this Alvaro Morata play? I haven't so I was wondering if anybody could tell me what sort of player he is and if he'd be a good fit at arsenal

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is technical, good finisher and has some height 6'2 I believe. He still has a lot of development and filling out to do as never really had a run of games at Madrid.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have seen him play and have been impressed. He is tall, athletic and has a good finish on him. He shows good composure In front of goal. How would he get on with the physical nature of the PL is not known, but in my opinion is definately worth a punt. Madrid rate him highly and that's why they don't really want him to leave, but he himself I believe desperately wants to play regularly. He has been impressive for the under 21s when I have seen him. Personally I believe if he played for the next 6 months for any team he would shine and be pushing for a place at the world cup, and I think he knows it as well. Morata to us makes perfect sense for us and for him, but not for real. If we did get him on loan it would be a good deal for us short term and also gives Wenger 6 months to work his magic and get in his head. I would love this to happen.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

Not entirely sure what to think of Morata.

He has potential to be world class, but at that point, its likely Madrid come in for him again.

Just Read Ed002 comment on morata that loan option with an option to buy maybe a viable option, and with Madrid Surely to recruit a Forward in the summer aka Suarez, i'm not sure Morata is a player who will wait 3-4 years for an opportunity.

In regards to wengers thinking, quite a few players will be on the market this summer, with the likes of Benzema, Diego Costa, Jackson Martinez, Rooney, Mandzukic, so on and so forth.

So to agree to Morata anything other than a short term option may not be what we are looking for.

Im Still holding out for a striker this window, and we have around 22 days to do so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Been a fan of Morata a long time

Have a feeling if Florentino focused on being a club Pres and not footy matters, Morata would be playing more

If we got him on the permanent, he will be a game changer in due time

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jan 2014 10:13:15
Well boys it doesn't look very good for Spurs for a change! Smiles! According to reports, that quote his father, it looks like he is looking to leave or more to the point he wants! to leave. What a shame for them, just as they were getting it together aswell.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This has happened to us in the years we consistently were out of the title race by october.

Cesc, Nasri, traitor, so on and so forth.

but the constant we had, was the same constant we wanted to rid of.

Thank you Arsene Wenger.

Patience goes along way. nOt sure how far utd will keep moyes but if they can let him build a team, they could be ok.

I don't see them ever being dominant again, but they will win the odd title here and there.

too many teams in the mix right now for any team to be considered dominant

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Goldboy, who are you referring to?

Agree0 Disagree0

Lamela?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry all Lamela. In my excitement I forgot to mention his name. 30 million well spent Spurs. 😂

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jan 2014 09:12:25
Giroud has been very good for us so far. He holds up the ball so well and brings the midfield into play. However, due to his lack of pace we miss out on a lot of counter-attack opportunities. I would like us to have someone who doesn't hold up the ball, someone of a different mould, someone who is a bit pacey. I am not particularly amused by the fact that Wenger always hints that whoever we buy as striker should play 2nd fiddle to Giroud. I would like someone who will push him all the way, someone who is good enough to take the position TBH. If we have that sort of striker, we will definitely win the league, and possibly give Bayern a torrid time

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Higuain is Giroud w pace and in the box finishing ability

Missing on him was a big one

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Rue,

I think Giroud needs to be a bit more selfish sometimes.

Ok I think I've got over the Theo injury a bit now. I've come to my senses. We have just got to look back to the part of the season up to when Theo was still out with his stomach operation and remember how we coped then. With that in mind we can now go forward and I think Gnabry for me staked a claim the other day so let's get behind him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Right now, I do not think any of those players would want to join that sinking ship

Agree0 Disagree0

RUE. Sorry mate I didn't understand your reply. Can you explain it again. Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Goldboy mate, that response was to Akie's Man U post

Agree0 Disagree0

Good to hear more people think the same way Rue!

Goldboy I've been thinking the same, we have normally tried promoting from within and gnabry is an obvious talent, everyone can see that, game time will do nothing but help the young mans confidence, we also have OX back soon so he's not on his own carrying the burden of Theo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lads and lasses anyone know how young Daniel Crowley is doing for us he was supposed to be a promising young lad. Anyone seen anything from him playing for our u18s just wondering if anyone can fill me in on him.

AFC

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He just scorred 2 and had 4 assists in the last u18 match. So he's not doing too bad.

You can see it on 101greatgoals

Agree0 Disagree0

Scored 2 involved in another 4 goals in youth fa cup looks like a similar player to Jack!

Agree0 Disagree0

Exceptional talent, very skillful. If he continues to progress at the rate he has done so far then we have a player on our hands.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's 16-ish same sort of age as zelalem! The future looks bright!

Just been looking through (a few of my mates are united fans) and most of them are talking about transfer targets.

The same name keeps popping up 'Juan Mata'. It feels so good to say to them "mata is a bit out of your league, maybe you could go for Bryan Ruiz or someone."

One united follow commented as follows: "we need a revamp (the only sane part) pogba, Vidal and mata are must buys! Mata is sure to join as he wants game time and pogba was here before so he knows united."

And not one supporter mentioned that every single one of these players are at better clubs and two of the three are important players at thier respected clubs.

IN MOYES WE TRUST! ;)

COYG

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Vidal and Pogba not in a million years Mata is the only maybe if he wants to drop his level and play on a Thursday next season lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea would not sell them their worst player. neither would city and forget about getting even a 15 year old from liverpool.

it was only arsenal that traded freely.

we don't think about the opposition, we think about us. do what we have to do, not what others are doing.

in reality, mata would be good for them, but fact is that there is about a 10% chance of that happening.

Janujaz is a amazing player and its up to them to keep him.

RVP = crocked
Rooney = pay cheque
Kagawa = wrong position
add some divers, some very old players and you have their team.

I always thought Alex Ferg, had the luck to have that class of 92, an entire batch of players who brought a certain calibre of team work. not all of them were world class but they made the vital cogs work.

Just like barcelona have their messi, iniesta, cesc, xavi, pique, pedro, busquets clique.

im guessing arsenal are building the same way, having a team together for awhile and replacing 3-4 components along the way but keeping the core.

lets hope we can go all the way. fingers crossed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol wot a loaf of old tosh really! Yes fergie was so lucky over 25 years! Really laker u do talk some dribble! One good year in 9 and your all out of the woodwork lol bless ya all!

Akie are talking about the same jaun mata that rejected your club? We will be back!
Untill then I shall ride this bumpy road with a smile on my face just waiting for the egg to fall all over yours!

Kinda sad really that u feel so distant from your own club that your highlights this season is seeing us and spurs have wobbles!

I feel that banner around the Emirates will read 2004 for a while yet!

Evening CTR

I have 1 word for you

MEOW!

Agree0 Disagree0

We are indeed talking about the same mata. But the thing is CTR, we have ozil, cazorla, Ramsey and wilshere for the attacking mid spot. You have whom? And mata is most certinally out of your league and won't join united for the same reason Rooney won't join Chelsea (if moyes can help it).

Mata rejecting arsenal doesn't bother me in the slitest, a lot of players have and a lot more players will. But we have an amazing squad and have next to no deadwood, unlike HMS Titanic over there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mata wanted more money than Wenger thought he was worth we rejected him if anything pal. Get it right son!
