Not because of what happened yesterday, we were well beaten but i don't get why only one third round fa cup game is using var. Surely they are playing under completely different rules to everyone else in the comp. Ridiculous. Why not wait to trial in the caraboo cup semis. Both sets of team would be on equal footing.

Cant believe we have got to the end of today and heads haven't rolled for the shambles yesterday. Plus mikel arteta being touted as wengers replacement, recommended by wenger. I doubt there is any truth in it but if a list of potential managers for us was put up for a vote, he would not be first choice of hardly anyone. Definitely not what we need.

We have to roll with the punches for the next 18 months.

Nothing's going to change.

Dags you may well be right but i understand the situation is being reviewed again in may by the board. It could be reviewed and everything be the same. But we can live in hope.

Steve,
Every 6 months, I review how much housekeeping I give my wife.

The amount never changes, but I review it anyway.

I know the prices of things go up, but I'm happy with the 18 shillings I give her every week 😉.

Dags you really do need to move into the modern world and give her 90 pence.

Just heard on the news that Iwobi was at a party the night before the game, sounds about right with our players!

Someone with new ideas needed, wenger, mourinhos methods are no longer working, even anchelotti wouldn't make much of a difference I think. Pep, pochettino, klopp have fresh ideas. Arteta would b a gamble, but could b a good gamble, a la masia product, has worked with both arsene and arguably the best manager right now in Pep.

I am a liverpool fan so i wouldn't know what manager would suit Arsenal best, but i think the PSG manager would be a very good fit, Arsenal can't make Manchester United's mistake in hiring whoever Wenger recommends.

Simeone would be my choice. The top clubs have top managers in the PL and employing Arteta who is a novice at coaching, never mind managing, would be a huge gamble. Also, when Wenger goes, I would not want him kept on as a director. It would be time for a fresh input, without controlling Wenger hovering over the new manager.

I hope with the players leaving us soon we build our team around Lacazette, most of us wanted him at Arsenal and with the resurgence of jack we have a chance to rebuild if we sort the back out of course, I felt sanchez was reluctant to pass to him at times didn't want to share the limelight imo.

I always remember my old boss saying arsenal are a selling club, it popped in my head today while in work, Henry, overmars, petit, veira, adebayor, cole, clichy, toure, anelka, rvp, fabregas and soon to be Sanchez and ozil and I am sure I’ve missed a few out, how can we be a big club when we just sell our best players to be honest.

I am 39 and only Sanchez and ozil are the only world class players I can remeber is buying surely we should be doing better business than that it’s getting on my tits now, get some deals done before the window closes or our season is done, another thing why was Wenger playing a weakened team when we can’t win the league what’s he testing players for weds if we play a weakened team it will be a cricket score rant over.

watching the game yeaterday, and actually realised that we have someone in the team who can beat the first man at a corner. Just a shame the rest of Theo’s game was poor yesterday!

words from the commentary yesterday summed up Walcott career at Arsenal "it bounced off Walcott"

Letting gabriel go for what was it 12m? When leicester bid 20-25m for chambers, madness.

Don't get this argument people keep bringing up. End of the day neither are good enough for us. We should be getting In good defenders instead we are here debating if we sold the wrong average player. This what it has come to?

My major concerns following yesterday's defeat are that the team was so poorly selected and set out. As usual the defence was a shambles. Firstly Debuchy should have been moved on ages ago, Mertesacker is clearly past his best and even though he is an excellent player and one of our best yesterday Maitland-Niles is not a left back, whilst Holding could benefit from a season on loan to a Championship club.
Post-2006 Wenger deems defensive midfield players unnecessary, despite having won most of his trophies with the likes of Vieira, Petit and Gilberto.
I thought Walcott's performance was shameful and Welbeck's marginally better.
I could continue, but there is little point. Hopefully Wenger will select a stronger team against Chelsea or we will be further embarrassed.

{Ed001's Note - you have spent the entire season telling us all that Mertesacker should be in the centre of the defence, now you are complaining that Wenger put him there!}

08 Jan 2018 00:19:04
Ed, question for you. With the backroom changes does Wenger still have a hand in with transfers or is this the responsibility of the new comers now?

{Ed001's Note - he still has a say yes.}

Away from the on pitch shenanigans I was reading the Soccerex 100 report today which states Arsenal are the 2nd most financially powerful club in the world, only behind Man city, and with Qatar Oil Money FC PSG sitting in 3rd.

From a business point of view that's an absolutely incredible feat. To have a debt of just $8mill, $750+mill of assets and $300mill in the bank after all the money spent on the new stadium and Colney is seriously impressive. Whatever may be happening on the pitch there are some smart business men running the show behind the scenes.

Don't know whether this makes the current scenes harder to take knowing we can be doing so much more, or if it gives hope that.

Slightly misleading as i read somewhere that sanchez was valued at 150 mil and ozil at 110mil. Not sure what the other players were valued at but that makes it slightly misleading. We are one of the few clubs that has a large surplus in the bank, where other clubs operate at a debt. What matters the most ultimately is if the business model and success model are working together. Man city all of a sudden bigger than barca, real, man u, bayern and the milans. Come on they are having a laugh.

Not quite sure why Per started, his days are up!

Letting Gabriel go was a mistake too and where was coquelin today.
