This Vardy business is going to turn out like another Higuain saga like a few seasons ago.
It drove everyone up the wall " He's coming he isn't, he's having a medical etc it went on and on. We ended up with nothing.
If Vardy wanted to be at Arsenal that badly he would have done the business with us and that would have been that.
He obviously has he's reasons but in the meantime we need to move on and not let the grass grow under our feet waiting around for him to decide what he's doing.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

08 Jun 2016 18:57:25
We were never even close to signing Higuain or Benzema I can only think of Matta who we got really close to getting but lost out on, we have had an offer accepted for Vardy and sat down with him and made him an offer he considering and that's a million miles further than the Higuain non event ever got.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2016 18:58:13
I agree we need to move on and we shouldn't judge vardy too harshly he is focusing on his first major international tournament. The problem is to move on we would need to target a striker who has no international distractions and apart from benzema I can't think off the top of my head who else there is! I think we can safely say that no striker will be coming before the euros are over.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2016 19:40:07
G62. Whether we were close to signing Higuain or not is not the issue mate.
I was saying that the name of Higuain coming to Arsenal a few seasons ago was virtually over every rumour site like a rash day after day.
So much so it got boring mate. I'm sure the Eds on here at the time were sick and tired with people asking the same questions over and over again,
I'm hoping this won't happen with Vardy as its doing my head in already.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2016 20:09:04
I totally agree mate I personally think we should chill out and see what happens, personally I'm delighted the club has been actively trying to solve a striking problem rather than chasing rainbows at arms length that no one than over hopeful fans expects to get us anywhere.
I think we've made an excellent start to the summer transfer season and for the first time in years feel we are seriously trying to plug the gaps that need plugging to make us contenders.

08 Jun 2016 20:26:03
Didn't we make early start last Summer mate ) :)

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2016 20:30:18
Personally I'd set him a date say before the euros start and if no reply withdraw the offer. I'm one who wouldn't mind vardy. But if it's taking too long move onto the next target.

08 Jun 2016 17:38:02
Just read an article saying Wenger was shocked that vardy didn't jump at the chance to play for us. That changes things for me. If true, now that vardy hasn't taken that offer i can't see it happening. I can't see aw risking waiting around. He was acting early and surely going to concentrate efforts elsewhere now and only if it falls through go back to vardy.

Not sure how true the morata/ man u links are either. Fingers crossed we have plan b, c and d underway. :)

Not a suggested target, but does anyone know how Defoe's stats compared with vardy? Especially chances/ goals.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

08 Jun 2016 18:26:49
I suppose the fact that vardys agent was supposed to have contacted us first about a transfer, suggests that he at least must want to come. The truth is there is a lot of speculation about why he has not given an answer, but i'm sure arsenal will know what's happening and will act accordingly.

Agree2 Disagree2

08 Jun 2016 18:38:00
Jim mate.
A few seasons ago it drove everyone mad about Higuain.
He was coming then he wasn't it went on for months mate.
If we don't let this Vardy story drop this will be the same.
Personally I think Wenger should be looking elsewhere now and lively too.
If Vardy wanted to play that badly for us he would have jumped at the chance.
He obviously has his own agenda but we can't hang around while he makes his mind up.

Agree2 Disagree1

08 Jun 2016 18:51:46
To be fair Arsene is constantly surprised by Ranaldo Messi Neymar and Saurez not asking to come to Arsenal, for Arsene every footballer should want to play for Arsenal football club such is his own passion for the club which is no bad thing but it's sadly just not reality and we have to accept that if we are to be successful.
Unless a player happens to be a natural gooner he's going to concentrate 100% on what's right for him his career and family and only come to us if it's what feels it's his best option.

It may just be a case that vardy wants to come and the deal is being finalised, but won't be revealed as a gunner till after the euros, to prevent any distractions, especially if vardys wife is getting abuse on twitter about the deal.
The media claim he's torn but we don't know for a fact that that is the case, he might be over the moon lads.

08 Jun 2016 17:39:49
To be honest, too big a deal is being made out of this 'delaying' his decision stuff.

If certain areas of the media hadn't come out saying he'd of made up his mind by Monday, we'd be none the wiser and people wouldn't be going on about it.

I'm, for once, confident we have our affairs in order this window.
I'd imagine we've got a plan b in mind (or plan c if Vardy was second choice to Morata) and are already moving for other players in the meantime too.

Xhaka signed nice and early, chasing Vardy, apparently chasing Mkhitaryan (depending on who you believe, we're not far from that prospective deal) .

The way it's going, I'll be tipping my imaginary cap to Arsene and co come the seasons beginning.

With city looking like they might tie up a deal for aubameyang I was wondering what peoples thought were on young Kelechi Iheanacho and if the eds knew if city would be willing to look at offers for him or if arsenal had ever shown an interest.
He is a striker i believe could do very very well in the prem.

What I can see happening, vardy waits and ponders a move, we wait for him, then he says "chat s*** get banged", and we will panic buy and end up with Lord Bendtner. never mind him, get higs or little pea.

Shows how far we have fallen behind that even vardy is making is wait. Honestly we need to move on. He is not even suited for us. He is no suarez or aguero and he is getting old. Why can't we put in a bid for icardi or morata?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2016 09:06:52
Strong rumours in respect of Henrikh Mkhitaryan joining us. I think he is an exceptional player, but once again we are after an attacking midfield player, when we need cover at RB, a top CB and a striker. In addition I believe we need a top LB.
We already have a problem with so many attacking midfield players at the club; Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla and Wilshere all look better and want to play in the sole central attacking midfield role. To accommodate them, Wenger plays them wide or deep, where they are not at their best. Can Henrikh Mkhitaryan play wide? If he does sign, surely we are selling one of the players I mentioned, as we cannot accommodate so many top players in the team.

This is a classy classy player.

Our new Pires Classy.

Sanchez and Mkhitaryan together. WOW!

Although, I don't see this AND Vardy.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2016 10:09:18
yes although I would prefer us to concentrate on a top class CB and cover at LB/ RB (don't think Gibbs or chambers are good enough cover at full back) and obviously a CF, if Mkhitaryan is available at a reasonable price why not get him on board. God knows we struggle with injuries!

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Jun 2016 11:34:36
@RG: He's been playing right wing most of this season. I'd prefer Reus but Mkhitaryan is still a great player, most definitely an upgrade on Theo, Ox, Joel.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Jun 2016 16:42:45
mkhitaryan is a classly classly player. Great turn of pace and with a great eye for a pass. If there is a former arsenal player i would compare him to it is rosicky.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2016 18:48:51
Mkhitatryan is a stellar, stellar player but a forward and CB are the priority. We have one of the best leftbacks in the league and for the moment Gibbs is sufficient cover. Bellerin has been fantastic too, we also have Debuchy and Jenkinson too. In my opinion another fullback or two isn't necessary.

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted yesterday because for some reason Vardy doesn't sit well with me. With the varying opinion, he will clearly divide the fan base - not in a Wenger in/ Wenger out fashion, more so in a sense of ambition.

I don't doubt that he would come into this team and get 15-20 goals, but we have Giroud who gets us that many. We all want that 25-30 goal a season man - or who at least we THINK would get that many.

Now, if he is to come into this side, 'people' are saying it would be at the expense of Walcott or Giroud. If Vardy plays right hand side, I think that nullifies a lot of what is good about him. I also don't think he has the presence to play the way we would need him to in order to get the most out of the team a la Giroud being used as a wall.

Will it signal a change in formation, a change in playing style, a change in attitude? Who knows.

I think he has something to offer, and trying to take a step back as a fan - we would all ditch our day jobs to pull on a shirt for The Arsenal so it seems unbelievable to think that anyone would have to 'consider' joining us - I just don't think he is THE MAN that will win us a title. That is where my indifference comes from.

How the flying fudge do man city have Aubamayang tied up for around 50 million pounds and we don't steady make a serious bid and show him how badly we want him. It really bugs me to see a team like city come out of no where in the last decade and just step all over such a great club like ours with so much more history of success. Sorry if I sound like a brat but it just pisses me off that something isn't being done at the board level. I really really want usmanov to come in and start to crap all over the abramovich and sheik mansoors . Financial fair play is a joke. I just want us to have some top players for once. how the fudge do man city have pep?!?!? I mean what the hell have they won before the sheiks came in?

Calm down laddie, u can't sign everyone!

U have spent 35m on xhaka already, I'm told he is decent and your looking to sign Vardy to for another 20m

I'm sure with what's left Alex Bruce could be a cheap option too.

U will then have 3 of the best players to ever grace a football pitch and would be already twice the players u want to sign are.

This year is your year :)
