Its the same old chesnut your best team, my best team, fred bloggs best team and aws best team are different. As long as they win its the best team. Look we are talking giroud here being replaced now and then by whoever, not Ronaldo. The difference is minimal not major.

Great performance/result today.
Scoreline slightly flattering but we deserve a good win and a confidence booster pre Bayern game.
Ox, Ozil and Sagna all deserve special praise.

And also Flamini, he was the first person to Ozil after his goal and his first thought was to beckon and wave over the rest of the team to celebrate with him! true team spirit.

Well done today guys, didn't watch the match but I have a few arsenal supporting friends who say it was a blinder! Behind you guys to win it this year, it's a crime that a club of Arsenals quality and values have been without silverware for so long.
Cheers guys

Eds what's the situation regarding maxims lopes? I believe he is 16yrs old and so doesn't have a professional contract yet. Does that mean he's available on a free in the summer unless compensation fee comes to play. If so does interest in him from arsenal and Liverpool have any foundation? Thanks

Totally agree Dags
If you are to play someone instead of Giroud then it has to be Podolski, this argument about resting Giroud so he has a full tank against Munich on Tuesday is nonsense.why?
Because he did the same thing against Munich in the 1st leg. why was AW resting Giroud then.
I am critical when AW does things like this because now is the time to field the strongest team possible, not too sure how old some of you boys on here are but I first went to Highbury.yes Highbury some of you might not have heard or seen that place ( humour ) in '73, well this is the longest I have seen Arsenal without a trophy and it is now a semi that lies ahead, I just see Wenger tinkering with the side and it costs us .
Just my opinion .which might have escaped some people on here, but we are all entitled to one.
Interested to know, who else was at Anfield in '89?
Or even travelled to Wrexham for 'that' cup tie
Believable0

Totally agree mate.
Started going to see the boys play from 1976 (with my old man) and going solo from 1978.
Yes I went to Wrexham on that dreadful day. Good old Mickey Thomas, lol.

I was at the game today and it was brilliant to see the man, the legend, Pat Rice back and looking well. What a guy!
Anyone else get goosebumps picturing him lifting the FA cup and parading it around Wembley with the rest of players and staff.
If that doesn't make you warm and fuzzy then you're dead inside!

A few things.
One, Sanogo is an Arsenal player (whether you agree how good he is) but he still remains one of us. Today Wenger played him for an hour and he did ok. Didn't pull up trees admittedly but linked play as best he could.
It allowed Giroud to have a rest and come on for 30mins, bang in a couple of goals and go to Munich full of confidence and with "petrol in the tank"
It's called squad rotation. If it messes up then everyone slags off Wenger. When it works, just accept it and back the boss and his decisions.
One further thing, spurs look a shambles today! Kaboul is suspended and Dawson looks injured so hopefully we can batter them next Sunday off the back of a positive result on Tuesday.
Believable0
Unbelievable0
Agree 100%
Agree0
Disagree0
Agree with what you say, I was lucky enough to be at the game today, and even though Sanogo isn't the top class striker we need, I would rather see him in the team than Bendtner any day.Another positive today was Ozil, he ran his socks off.Good luck to the lads in Munich, and then bring on the spurs.COYG. :-)
Agree0
Disagree0
People criticize Arsene when he gets it wrong and sometimes rightly so but if you question his decisions before the game and we beat a very good Everton 4 1 and a fresh Giroud scores two after Sanogo has battled the two centre half's for an hour you should have the humility to say he got it right afterwards.
If you can't give praise as well as criticism your argument loses credibility
Agree0
Disagree0
We need to give sanogo a season to settle in and a proper pre season let's judge him next year remember the kos played 2nd division French football for a while as well . on saying that my god it looks like walking never mind running is a difficult task for this guy, he is massive chunk of a lad, and he looks so clumsy!

Hands up gang
Before the 3rd round draw I was leading the campaign to play the non regulars and forget the FA cup this season, then we drew spurs, then Coventry and then we faced Liverpool a week after THAT RESULT :-) then all of a sudden we have to beat Everton to keep our chances of silverware realistically achievable this season, now we are in the semi final!
Sometimes I even surprise myself just how wrong I can be! But not the wife though she said she never doubted me for a minute.

To win the fa cup we will have to beat sheik city at wembley whether we are drawn against them or not so really the draw is pretty irrelevant. I do think the reason we are losing games at the moment is we are getting sloppy, with stray passes putting players out of the game. For us to achieve anything this year the players have got to up their concentration levels greatly. We were fortunate today because everton didn't punish our errors, but you don't win anything without a little luck. I pray for a goal Tuesday in the first 30 minutes and then anything is possible.

Goldboy posted earlier having a moan about Sanogo and a few people posted back having a moan at Goldboy.
Can I just say one thing.
People should read the post's properly before moaning about somebody on here.
This is the business end of the season, this is the time of the season where you will either set yourself up to win things (like Chelsea ATM), or to lose things.
What Goldboy is trying to say is, why are we throwing an inexperienced 20 year old injury prone player, who we bought for nothing from a 2nd division French team, into games when he has neither the skill or the experience to deal with things at this level?
This is not the time to experiment with players like Sanogo. I'm not blaming Sanogo, neither is Goldboy, but he should be playing in games when we are already 2 or 3 goals up or leave it until the end of the season.
Now is not the time for experiments.
Believable0
Unbelievable0
Sorry DG totally disagree, tactic or experiment? A fresh Giroud comes on and after not battling two centre half's from the kick off seals the deal with two goals.
Arsene gets plenty of stick when it goes wrong at least allow him some glory now its gone right.
Let's give a bloke who has given so much for the club the benefit of the doubt and say well done, he deserves that
Agree0
Disagree0
Giroud hasn't been great of late and Wenger was more within his right to drop him for the Liverpool and Bayern games, if Giroud was a professional then he would have been getting to bed at night and resting up rather than getting up to no good and putting in toilet performances.
Sanogo wasn't great today but he wasn't that bad either and played wel against Liverpool and Bayern and doesn't warrant the criticism he is getting for today, I've seen Giroud play worse this season.
Wenger obviously wanted to keep Giroud for Tuesday and he got it spot on in my eyes, made the subs when Everton were looking leggy and put them under pressure, we all know Wenger dosent like Podolski for what ever reason so he has to rest Giroud at some point, given the games we have coming up Wenger is going to have to rotate and change things up and Sanogo isn't give game time now and Giroud gets injured we could be right in the ****
Agree0
Disagree0
People are saying he should not be in the team. if it was only to give our under performing striker a kick up the arse then it was needed, but I think if you really watch him he gives the team a different dimension. The kid is an under 21 world cup winner and scorer, so he ain't no mug, just a bit raw. I personally hope he proves some of you wrong and good luck to the kid.
Agree0

Nobody is slating the kid, my point is, this is no time to be experimenting with some unknown kid.

Agree0

Dags and Goldboy are 100% right - hoping Sanogo is a star some day but its not today. Love him or hate hime Bendtner is the play if you want to rest Giroud. He is big and strong and experienced - if a chance comes to him far more likely to take it. Sanogo needs to get some goals with the reserves to deserve the call.

I waqnt to put the Sanogo issue to rest by asking a couple of questions.
Who believes Sanogo should be starting for us before Giroud and Podolski and why?
Who believes he should be put out on loan and why?
Who can tell me anything Sanogo has brought to the squad so far.
Im not anti Sanogo as a person I don't know him. I can only comment on what I see.
I am anti the people that put Sanogo in the position he is in. I believe that at the moment he is definately not good enough to be leading Arsenal up front how could he be?
We are chasing hopefully, the premiersship title still! is Sanogo the man to take us there?
Some people have been quite personal to others on here about this matter its not on.
I would like someone to convince me why Sanogo was good enough to be our first choice aginst Bayern last time out. In the meantime I would like to say to some people " don't piss in my face and tell me its Champagne "
Believable0
Unbelievable0
I get the point your making but I remember the same point being made when we started playing a 17 year old upfront ( anelka ) and when we had a 17 year old take over from a then club legend ( cesc/viera ) I've been impresses with sanogo and think he could be a big part of the club we don't see what goes on at training so can't really judge if he's ready or not
Agree0
Disagree0
I'm happy to answer your questions
I'd be starting Podolski ahead of Giroud and Sanogo but I also think given our fixture list Sanogo needs playing time, if Giroud was to get injured it could prove invaluable.
Not a fan of loans tbh they can be constructive and destructive and it really depends on the players attitude so who knows.
He hasn't disgraced himself in his recents performances by any means given the amount of time he has played in the EPL, hasn't had enough time to really bring anything to the table so I'd say that's a bit harsh tbf.
As for the Bayern game then Giroud head clearly wasn't in the right place otherwise he would have played, I would have gone with Podolski but he went with Sanogo, did he really have that bad a performance against Bayern?
I thought he held his own and had a good match, I think you're forgetting Girouds form before the Bayern and Liverpool games, he was awful.
So I'm guessing the fact that it's not champagne is where you get the nick name goldboy then? Makes sense now.
We are all allowed our opinions mate and you shouldn't get so het up about.
Everything will be alright.

Fantastic result and a trip to Wembley (hopefully twice!)
I thought Cazorla was brilliant and I'm really pleased for Ozil on getting his goal. He looked decent.
The Ox was fantastic IMO and I loved seeing him tackle back and atone when he made a couple of mistakes. Brilliant attitude!
Vermaelen looked solid and got stronger as the game progressed which bodes well for the run in as he's quality.
A last word or several for Bacary Sagna who was outstanding today. Wenger sign him up!
The sun shone on us today and we now go to Bayern buzzing and ready to have a go before taking on the yids!

In Italia 90 England lost to Germany in the semi final of the world cup on penalties after extra time.
A very prominent member of the FA breathed a sigh of relief and said phew that was close! If we had won the thing we'd have been stuck with Bobby Robson as manger.
23 years and Graham Taylor plus a phew more we haven't got close to where Sir Bobby got us, its still our best performance away from home in a tournament.
To think some one could put there own dislike of the manager ahead of team success?
I'm just glad we all want Arsene to lift the FA cup this season, we do don't we?

We basically now have funds to spend so let's buy a £40m+ every season!

Overjoyed by that result, Özil played great. Same goes for oxlade and Santi.
Before the game, talk of the Everton full backs being able to win the game with thier attacking finesse, but Sagna and Gibbs made great runs, crosses and passes. Sometimes caught out at the back but great performances going forward from them two.
Verm got better as the game went on apart from that horrific miss kick which let lukaku get into the box.
Arteta showed great desire (petulence at times.)
Really wanted to see gnabry get some more time but was great to see Mozart and playboy get some time at the end and make a massive difference.

The young French lad should never have started against Munich and shouldn't have today, especially when you have Podolski and Giroud available, it was a MASSIVE gamble by Wenger, that has been my main point, it seems you are suggesting I want Arsenal to lose?
Maybe you think Sagoggogogogogog is the future. dream on. He isn't fit to lace Wrights, Dennis's, Henry's, Stapleton's, Sunderland's, Supermac's, George's boots.shall I go on. If he is as talented as Wenger thinks, then he needs to be loaned out

Arteta, Ox, Ozil, and Santi all had very good games today. Ox is honestly a tank; love his desire to win the ball back when he loses it. Everyone on the team should pick up this valuable trait. Our last goal was simply beautiful. This 4-1 victory should give us great encouragement to win it all!
Everton's goal
Solutions:
- Flamini could have gone tighter
- Sagna could have sat back a little more
- Mert could have told Verm to move to the open man near the top of the box so that he could have stayed put in the center of the goal and block the cross

If there is a god do me a favour and convince Arsene to take that person Sanogo off the pitch. Why is he on the pitch? We may aswell be playing with 10 men he is absolutely useless.
He would be in my list of 10 worst Arsenal players I have ever seen. And before anyone says give him a chance my answer to that is how many chances? you don't need to be an expert to see that he is well out of his depth. I wouldn't even think he would make it in a half decent championship side as a striker let alone Arsenal. What in the world is Arsene trying to prove in putting him in the game instead of Giroud and Podolski.? I get so angry when I watch him on the pitch I can't even say when I watch him play because he doesn't even touch the ball! Get rid of him send him out on loan . anything or anywhere but not on the pitch in an Arsenal shirt please.!
Believable0
Unbelievable0
And what does podolski offer? Everytime he has started especially upfront he rarely does anything.
The way you criticize sanogo makes me think you thought the same for mertersaker, koscielny, schezny, Ramsey.
How can you say you have gave him a chance? He is 20years old, didn't have much of a pre season, it's his first ever season in the premier league, add to that he hasn't even had half a season yet. Only 4 starts for gods sake.
Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion, but sometimes it seems people look to be negative for the sake of it. And when someone tries to be positive they get shot down, but when we shoot someone down for being negative we are out of line as it's their opinion.

Thanks Sainty. I don't know what game some people are watching mate. If anyone thinks that Sanogo should be starting a game in place of Giroud or Podolski then they must be new to football. Even had the cheek to ask what Podolski does. Sainty do you want to tell him as I can't be bothered . LOL
Agree0

Waq1. What are you on mate. I try very hard not to make my OPINIONS personal but it sounds like you are having a dig. I'm talking about Sanogo why have you decided to suggest I probably thought the same about Kos, Mert, etc. etc. Actually I never. But just for you I will share this with you IN MY OPINION!. Sanogo SO FAR! is diabolical I would not play him in place of Podolski, Giroud, or even TOM FINNEY who passed away the other week. AND! Even if he is only! 21 years of age, so what? Are you really going to tell people he is a blinding player and deserves to start in front of Giroud? and if you do why. I will tell you why I think he shouldn't . Firstly he can't run to save his life, he hides behind defenders never running into space, can't tackle, and next time we have the misfortune of seeing him on the pitch just count how many times he actually touches the ball. I bet he never touched the ball more than 10 times today guaranteed. Oh and don't forget he gets a nice lump of money every week for doing what I would call f**k all so far. If he comes good I will be well pleased but I don't want to see him practicing at Arsenal let him go out on loan then come back when he is ready to play in the big time.
Agree0
Disagree0
To be fair I don't recall anyone calling sanogo a top quality player, but if a player isn't given any oppurtunity then how is he supposed prove himself?
My comments regarding podolski is that iv never seen him produce when playing upfront for arsenal. And you cannot expect giroud to start every game.
My comments regarding you not giving Ramsey and co a chance wasn't a personal dig, just my presumption on how you and many others who constantly criticise sanogo might have felt when they were struggling.
If you say you didn't then fair play mate, I just hope you can be bit more patient with sanogo, might not be what we want but it's all we got atm.

Mark my words by 22:00 Tuesday night we will be out of both cups .my point is how can we give ourselves the best possible chance when he puts out a side like he has, when we were flying earlier in the year we couldn't beat Everton.

Ozil looks up for it - few early key balls, goal and some great defensive work
We look a little vulnerable without Kos, a few sloppy balls so we will need at least 2 goals
Bit more pace in the team today which I like
Come on you Gunners!

SANOGO starts up front again! can't believe it anyhow.Podolski and Giroud on the bench.Cant believe that either. If we win and Sanogo scores people will be calling it a genius piece of team selection. I would call it " A stroke of luck" sorry.

I totally agree, what a mad gamble by Wenger, yes we are 1-0 up, but with an hour to go it would be no surprise if we went out, today or by a reply and then lose to Bayern. Surely our strongest starting XI available are capable of playing today and Tuesday?

That's why AW gets paid what he does and we post on here!
I think giving Sanogo exposure is crucial in case we need him in the run in. Plus Giroud needs rest
The gamble paid off today

SY4. What gamble was that. Sanogo was taken off just after 60 minutes which is unusual for Wenger normally around 75 mins for a sub, as Arsene must have saw the light and played the striker he should have started with in the first place.

Rest Giroud - that's the gamble
Pay off - rested Giroud and Sanogo gets more experience under his belt which could be important in the run in
That's what I call managing the squad

Banter please Eds.
Just a thought guys and assuming he plays, will Lukasz Fabianski be secretly hoping for a clean sheet and a Draw today?
I do think the perfect scenario would be, any type of victory, an ozil screemer of a goal & no fresh injuries.
Best of luck.

Hit them with pace today guys
Back 5 picks itself
Fancy playing Flamini and Ox in middle as have not seen Arteta at great against them as seems too personal
Pod Ozil Gnarby with Sanogo up front
Santi and Giroud as back up
I would play the same side in Champs League

Just watched an exchange between Arsene and somebody calling themselves a Journalist, didn't catch his name. It went something like this.
J) March isn't a good month for Arsenal is it?
A) Why do you say that?
J) Because you haven't won anything in years.
Then Arsene response by commenting about how a league can be lost in October.
The reason I comment on this is even though nobody is more pissed off at not winning anything in so many years as us Arsenal fans. The Journalist's comments were poor and a bit misleading. If you look at his logic, I.e 'March is a bad month because you haven't won anything'. That would suggest that March compared to other months, we accumilate less points compared to others and that is a major factor in us not winning a trophy. Wrong! The reason we haven't won anything is usually the other 11 months. Taking that logic a step further, every month that has passed by in the last 9 years has been a bad month because we haven't won anything.
It just so happens that March is one of our better months, if not the best. Not saying this month is going to be the same when you look at the fixtures, but the reason i've written this post is because I hate journalist who make a statement, worded in a way that makes it sound like fact, and turns out to be factually incorrect.
