Can't wait for tomorrows game, I love Arsenal v Manchester United games even though in recent years things haven't gone well.
I'm hoping for the same as city with Le Coq protecting our back four, shame no Gabriel but hey ho come on THE ARSENAL

I hate them i'm surrounded at work by man u blockheads whom I despise. I've had no joy with them for ages and i'm afraid I won't tomorrow. We will not win the best we can dream of is a draw and even then I honestly don't see us going through. i'm not being pessimistic, but realistic, we don't do mu wins. Tomorrow will be another disappointment, i'm not confident at all.

Sleep well tonight Steve and know that tomorrow will be full of excitement and anticipation until kick off at least :-)
Hey ho beats Arsenal v Darlington in a league cup 2nd round tie on cold Tuesday high in October

Maybe I'm weird. But I don't hate any player leaving the club. Players come and go. I don't get attached to them. I did fink saints booing la lanana was silly. Left for champs league football and doubled his cash

I do agree with you. Nasri for example, refused to sign a contract wanting more money and a chance to win trophies so he forced a move and left Marsille and joined Arsenal. We can't really moan at him for doing the same thing and joining city. The only reason he was at Arsenal was because he used the same tactics when he was at Marsille.

However RVP and Cashly Cole was always stand out. Arsenal offerd a contract while he was injured and really injury prone. Most clubs wouldve shipped him out and he probably wouldve ended up in Italy or QPR and he's career wouldve been over. Wenger showed faith and had belief and he shouldve paid him backed.

And Cashley Cole... (I don't want to get banned)

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 21:21:19
I'll always stick up for ash cole. He wanted 5k a week more. He was worth more than that 5k all day long. Such a bad call. We didn't want to back down but we should of. He earned more at chelsea. He was a great signing for them. Shame.

Adebayor one is funny. 180k a week. Crazy that. No wonder he was hard to move on

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Mar 2015 22:13:02
Cole put Arsenal in a position where they were forced to sell him. Considering all Arsenal did for his career he shouldve never put Arsenal in that position.

If player wants to leave that is fair eniu

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 22:20:21
Cole put Arsenal in a position where they were forced to sell him. Considering what Arsenal did for him he shouldn't of put Arsenal in that position.

If a player doesn't want to be there we should always sell. I don't want players in the squad who don't want to be there but our hands were forced.

Take Reus for example, had a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for 20m. Signed new contract that takes the clause away putting Dortmand in a better position but still likely to move on.

If cole wanted to go that's fine but least respect the club that made you. Props to reus

Ed please delete unfinished post from before, my hand slipped thanks

Noodles Arsene has admitted Arsenal handled the Ashley Cole badly thing badly and things could and should have been done better, how different things might have been for us if he had stayed? For him they didn't turn out to badly but we lost out big style by letting things work out how they did.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 22:56:07
He thought he was worth 5k more. Why isthat a crime . Not like he was asking to be clubs highest earner. End of the day Cole made the right move. More money and many tropheys. He would of stayed though if we had paid up

Look at hazard at chelsea. On 200k now. Up from 150k. he's worth it. Chelsea know it. If they don't pay it he'd go to real Madrid

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 23:06:32
Noodles look into the Cole case. Dein agreed 60k a week for Cole. The board said he's worth 55k. Honestly I'd like to find any football fan who can tell me he wasn't worth that wage. Even at that he's under paid. World class left back mate fact

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 09:21:13
Arsene tried to flex his muscle with Cole and lost big time, simples.
Some call him Cashly others call him one of the most successful footballers ever Champions league winners medal premier league winners medals FA cup winnes medals Europa league winners medals league cup winners medals and most importantly an Invincible, yeah I think he was worth the market rate we should have given him

Exiled,

In answer to your post.

If I was a young footballer, I would stay with the club who developed me.

I would try to show a certain amount of loyalty and to repay the faith they showed in me.

A footballers career is very short lived, so of course I would listen to offers as my career progresses, but I would not sacrifice my career to benchwarm at another club, unless I was in the twilight of my career.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

08 Mar 2015 19:21:47
For me dags the only way I'd stay loyal is if a club had plucked me from non league. Vardy at Leicester. Etc. But football can be a short game. Dean Ashton is still working. Somedo llike the work. Some need to work. I'd chase the money but would still need to be a good move for me. If I was salah I'd of gone Liverpool not chelsea

08 Mar 2015 19:28:18
Personally I think if your Jack Arsenals 100k is worth another clubs 200k simply because the clubs stood by him through injuries and controversy etc (dutch bloke hang your head)
But if your Theo and Arsenal offer you 100k and Liverpool offer the same but a chance to play down the middle as you've always stated is your wish then its a free choice as because that chance looks unlikely to happen with us.
Reasons to be loyal reasons to do what's right for you its a case by case thing I think

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 20:13:09
OK OK OK get the message about loyalty.

I like the loyal players as well - but there are more facets to loyalty than just the player - Arsenal have sold about 20 players over the last couple of years who were all loyal Arsenal men..... but the club decided they had better players available to buy.....

Personally I don't think it will come to it with Jack as I truly believe he has a special gift and if he can man up and dump the baggage he can end up with a statue out the front of the Emirates

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 21:48:41
g62 great point about theo that. shame he's never been given much of a chance, i would much prefer him there to welbeck

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 23:41:40
The thing is, in this day and age should anyone be expected to be loyal to their employer? Even a young footballer who has come through the ranks, they would have seen many of their friends and colleagues dumped from the very same youth set up as soon as the team deems them surplus for requirements, so maybe they will think why should I show any loyalty going forward?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 06:29:09
Since the Bosman rule, the players have the upper hand. In a relstively short career, the vast majority of players will be advised to try & make the most of their career from a financial point of view. Sagna is a prime example, in his 30's he was offered a longer deal at massive wages and a signing on fee, which Arsenal were not prepared to match. Having played relatively few matches, he will push for a move in the summer, with the security of his current contract behind him. Whi can blame him....

08 Mar 2015 18:35:43
So everyone wants Harry Kane and why not but I doubt he will leave spurs for another premier league team in the near future unless for a ridiculous amount of money of course from utd.
I think the only way it would happen would be in a couple of years time if he fails to buil on this seasons performances.

i do wish the spurs can hang on to him, less excuses when we beat them. but if he has another season like this and the offers come in, levy is more into the cha ching than anything else.

id rather we build by trying to attract a forward ourselves...cant think of many we could afford.

the ed did say that barca may sell suarez and we may have some level of interest, but at 28 years of age now, i don't see us spending 40+ mill on a player who has played his best years before we sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 21:24:02
No idea why you don't rate him red dog. He's 21. Tall. Quite fast. Works hard. Can head a ball. Calm finisher and a top lad. No danger he'll ever let money change him. Hel have a good carear I believe.
I think he'll do even better if spurs sign a decent wide man

I said earlier in the season that Ronaldo had passed by Messi in the footballing world and that Messi, despite being the greatest player I've ever seen when at his peak, would never reach that peak again.

Well, I bow down to the little magicians feet and apologise for being wrong. He's back! What a player!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Mar 2015 13:25:32
He's been taking classes from ozil, that penalty was the laziest take i have seen, he was lucky he got a retake.

but apart from the usual suspects in this game, pedro impressed me with his work rate, shame he has to constantly look for suarez or messi, without looking at scoring himself. second half ball rarely went to pedro and he was a mere spectator.

Dani Alves has lost it...he gave rayo many chances to counter and his lack of discipline, ended up with him getting a red and i can see why he won't get a contract extension.

Gooners
I am slightly confused, I don't think we have a Need for a new keeper
to me Shezza is a great keeper who happens to be
a bit naive and occasionally has a lapse in
concentration but I think he has immense natural
ability and he deserves another chance

Believable2 Unbelievable0

08 Mar 2015 12:24:16
He's a good 4th place keeper but he's too unreliable to win a very litle with, all keepers make mistakes but Szczesney has days/spells where he goes completely off script so has made himself untrustworthy.

To be honest IMO the one position Wenger appears to know nothing about is goalkeeper. He really needs to take a step back and let his gk coaches advise on any new signings. Wenger inherited one of the best keepers in the world when he joined Arsenal, but since Seamen retired, you can only say Lehman was as good. Apart from that, Wenger seems to like younger or cheaper keepers who turn out to be too inconsistent, such as Mannone. I fear Shez is joining that list. Gk is as an important position as a striker, and therefore we should have tried to sign Begovic, who IMO is amongst the best in the premiership, and more importantly has been consistently good over many seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 13:20:48
I'm no expert on keepers but to me most keepers are good shot stoppers its positioning and decision making that sperates the best from the rest.
Not making mistakes is 80% of the job and making brilliant saves 20% imo

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 13:34:15
certain players lack maturity. Wilshere, Schezza, poldi, campbell that i can think of and its this maturity that makes them either over confident, or over prone. wilshere has run down that clock, his potential days are over, he is not far away from being a liability and sold. Schezza needs to put more hours in practice, needs to bring up some consistencies, he needs to be at the same level as de gea, courtouis and ter stegen, if not he is another wasted potential.

Agree0 Disagree2

08 Mar 2015 18:43:37
just look at utd to see how important a great keeper is, their season would be totally different without degea

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 23:32:14
Totally agree G62. Every keeper playing in the top leagues are good shot stoppers. Look at vorm, he was fantastic at Swansea. Not sure why he decided to go and play 2nd fiddle at Spurs. However, IMO what sets top keepers out is their decision making. For me, as an ex keeper, coming and taking crosses sorts the men from the boys. You call for a ball, you come and get it. Nothing is more appreciated by the CD, s than knowing when the keeper calls they can move out the way. Builds terrific confidence from the back, shows right through the core of the team. This is why I think Begovic is a class above. He actually is not necessarily the best shot stopper in the premiership currently ( that would be Lloris or De Gea) but his all round game is very good.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 06:30:36
An immature keeper who needs to grow up fast. He has all the attributes to be a top keeper.

Dags,
See where you are coming from about YOUR position and loyalty ... but you are not comparing apples with apples.

How about if you were in early twenties, with average (?) intelligence and knowledge but an in demand with a pretty short shelf life

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Mar 2015 09:53:30
Its all about the individual I think, if you were let's say a lad from Newcastle who grows up to play for them but has the ability of Messi you have chioces.
Stat with the club you love earn 3 million a year plus advertising etcetera and live where your surrounded by those you love and who knows maybe win an fa cup then retire with 50 million in the bank at the age of 35.
Or take a chance go to Real which you may or may not enjoy earn 15 million a year + add ons win trophies by the dozen and retire at 35 with 200 million in the bank.
How much money do you need? What does 200 mil buy that 50 million can't?
If your chioce is Barnet or Barcelona you have little chioce but to move but if its Newcastle or Real then its about even more money v happiness and loyalty

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 10:39:28
You don't know how short a career you will have or when the next great opportunity will come...

You can't blame them for wanting more medals and money to fund their lifestyle from 32 to 92.

You get into the history books by winning medals - sports people tend to be winners and want medals.

How many players have stand out seasons - turn down Utd or Arsenal then bomb or get injured with their dreams in tatters or we sign someone else instead.

They have to grab the opportunities for them, their families and careers.

We want players who dream about pulling on our shirt and winning trophies - how does that fit if you tell players to stay loyal??

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 11:04:52
Its like anything else in life some things have a dufferent value to different people.
Matt Le tissier was happy at Southampton, Sheerar turned his back on just about every club in the world to play for the club he loved but others chase money because that's their motivation not medals that most retired players say they have no idea where they are a couple of years later

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 16:29:31
Money, easily the most addicitve thing in the world. If you start earning £20k a week like todays young players, it only gives you a taste of what lifestyle you could potentially have. Its human nature to always want more even if you don't want it.

Players that leave for a higher wage or trophies, I wouldn't hold a gruge against. Fabregas left to join his boyhood club and win trophies. You can't blame him. Sagna and Toure left for money and trophies aswell, along with a new challenge in their career.

But its players like Nasri, Adebayor and Van Perise I cannot stand. Both Nasri and Adebayor disrespected the club that made them great players. Van Perise was offered similar wages he's on at Man U, and he stabbed us and Wenger in the back by joining Man U, id rather he went to Spurs.

Theres not a lot of loyalty in football these days, purely because there is so much money in the game now, and this new breed of greedy agents don't help either. But respect to Totti, Maldini, Di Natale, Zanetti, Puyol, Gerrard, Scholes, Giggs etc. They will be eternal due to the amazing legacy they built at there clubs, which is worth more than the millions some players have accumulated at clubs like City, PSG and Anzi.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 18:46:51
Arsene has admitted not giving Ashley Cole the extra 5 grand a week was a mistake and him leaving was down to a misunderstanding, personally I think sometimes a player doesn't necessarily want to move for the most money he can get but he doesn't want to be insulted by an offer well below his worth to stay either.

Paper talk this morning of Wilshere to City for £30M. I know here are mixed opinions of Wilshere and some wouldn't mind seeing him leave but I'd hate to see another gooner head over to Manchester. If wenger doesn't see a future for him at arsenal perhaps a nice trip abroad would be more to our liking for him.

Its a scary thought bacaon because if he did for fill that wonderful potential in a city shirt I would be horrible to watch but!
A move to Manchester might be a good move for all
Jack, it would get him free from the hangers on who surround him and do him no favours at all+ he wouldn't have the burden of being their king in waiting as he has been ours for since a child.
For us, it would give us funds to strengthen else where and free Arsene from the obligation I think he feels towards Jack.
For city, well its an English player with fantastic potential who joined them having to prove himself to his new team mates, fans and manager and if it went well would be a very big asset.
I don't particularly want him gone but can see the advantages for all if it happened

The odds are your right Saint but dispite Sinclair Johnson and Roswell's experience it would be a big opportunity for Jack and probably his best chance of making it at the highest level because of the reasons above hangers on and expectations with us

i love jack and really want him to be great, but i feel its kind of counter productive to have him around, we have too many players in his best position, he's got to be a cm or am for me and ozil ramsey and santi are all ahead of him there. yet wenger tries to play as many of them at once as he can. he's too indisciplined for dm and doesn't have the pace to play on the wing. if we sold him for £30mil and got schniederlin for £30mil the team would be much better
