Playing with a makeshift CB against Lewandowski is one of the most stupid decisions I have ever seen. Best CB gets a red, next move should have been to replace Giroud with aCB.

We did that in first leg (Gabriel) and still got toasted.

08 Mar 2017 16:00:30
I was unable to watch last night, I know that Koscielny got sent off, how come we needed to play a midfield player at CB? Also please tell me that we went into a 4-4-1 formation after the sending off.

i think we played with a mid in defence because although we were never going through arsene wanted to win the game on the night or at least not lose it which is why we kept attacking, and attacking with 10 men against a team like bayern is always going to be risky, not many people applauding how well we played with 11 men, i thought we played really well in the first half, what's the point in just sitting back when we went down to ten men, getting beat 7-2 rather then 10-2 there's not much difference in my eyes, the biggest question that needs to asked is why we did not play with the pace we did in the first half, in the first game that's were we lost it as always.

Wenger saying we are still in a good place leads me to think more then ever that he has already signed that contract and is waiting for a good run (if that ever happens that is ) to announce it, and as i already said i cannot believe Allegri, Tuchel and Uncle Tom Cobbly and all have agreed to stand by
and play yes you can be our manager or thanks but no thanks.
What a sorry, sorry state Wenger/ Board have
got us into.
As for last night you gave it a go and even though some dodgy decisions by the match officials, as in previous years the damage once again has already been done in the
first leg, as for Sanchez laughing, make of that what you will.
As for Saturdays game against Lincoln who
knows what will happen.

I can understand Xhaka dropping into back four immediately after Koscielny was sent off, but can somebody explain to me why when 18 minutes later when PΓ©rez, Γ–zil and Coquelin came on, why didn't Xhaka go back into midfield instead of Coquelin and Gabriel come on into defense. Also why wait 18 minutes to bring Gabriel on anyway. The Arsenal are now like a headless chicken, dead from the neck up (Arsene Wenger) but still running around.

I understand many are slating Sanchez for laughing when we conceded. Well, sometimes, we do laugh at repetitive situations when we get tired not because we don't care but just because they are routine. Maybe he laughed when he didn't know he actually has and this tells how bad things are at the club. It feels like whenever he wants to get the team forward, the team drags him back and he feels there's nothing he can do to help anymore. Oh and i was a bit befuddled when Ramsey made the starting eleven without playing any competitive game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Mar 2017 13:12:38
It certainly wasn't a clear situation, but I don't really think anyone should be sticking up for Sanchez after last night. It doesn't really matter what he was laughing at, (I honestly thought it was because of something Cech said to him) if your team is losing by any amount you should never be caught laughing or smiling on the bench. This is especially true in the modern game with the amount of media coverage, it just creates more unnessecary dis.

I don't think anyone should be sticking up for Sanchez after last night. It doesn't really matter what he was laughing about, if your team is losing you shouldn't be seen either laughing or smirking on the bench; especially in this day and age where everything a player does will be scrutinized heavily by the media - it creates unwanted distractions.

In the past two months Sanchez's attitude and overall level of play has been disappointing to say the least. He presses the opposition defense at unnecessary times, and then flails his arms and throws a temper tantrum when the players behind him don't follow suit. Sanchez has given the ball away more than any other player in the league this season, and he hasn't run 9km in a game since 2016. Only working hard when the ball gets somewhat close to you doesn't represent a high work rate, and it certainly doesn't give you the right to complain on the field about your teammates' efforts in that regard. Sanchez might still be top drawer but I wouldn't call him a leader, and we certainly need more leaders at Arsenal.

This isn't to slate what you're saying Willy, that justification makes sense - I just think that if you're on the bench you need to be acting like a professional at all times.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2017 15:03:29
if you went in to your work, worked the hardest you could, dragged almost every one of your colleagues through the year only for you to be let down year after year, wouldn't you be a bit cheesed off too? can we really be annoyed at sanchez for putting in half-assed shifts if there's basically no reward? it'd be pretty soul crushing.

i might get some flack for saying this but i was laughing with sanchez too. i was laughing because the situation and the score line is/ was beyond ridiculous.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2017 15:35:01
he certainly has the right to feel that way, but if you're getting being paid over 100,000 a week I'd hope you'd have the perspective and professionalism not to show that frustration and just continue to do your job. That's probably asking too much of modern footballers though.

After last night i have allowed myself some time to think about the result and what may happen now we are out of Europe again. I have come to the conclusion that we simply cannot compete with the best. Yes we have some great players, yes we have a great manager but they are not as great as the best teams in Europe or at home now. We can beat anyone on our day but consistently we cannot. Our injuries list is embarrasing so we need to look at how we manage players fitness. Look at Jack, how much game time he has managed at Bournemouth. He would have had 2 or 3 injuries by now for us. I fear that Wenger will want to stay until he has won one more trophy just like a gambling addict will want to stay at a fruit machine until he has won one more time. The difference is that Wenger has the money to keep pumping the "fruit machine" to give himself a better chance but refuses to do so. Hence i really hope we win the fa cup this year so wenger can bow out gracefully and on a high that he deserves. If he doesn't win then i fear he will hang around even longer and that jackpot will never come.
Does this make sense? I am at home with man flu and my missus has been moaning at me and i just wanted to ramble on!

Now we need to get back on track after a difficult period. We are still in the FACup with a good chance of making the semi-final. We have a game in hand in the League. We need to do our part as fans and get behind the team. The Wenger situation will sort itself out at the end of the season.

Would love to know how papers rate players performance, koscielny played really well for 55 mins kept lewandowski quite until the ref wrongly sent him off and he gets a rating of 5, wow so it's the ref that can decide what a players rating will be!

Another embarrassing defeat. I just don't get how we can cave in as we do when the pressure is on. Yes sure Kos sending off was harsh to say the least but how can we completely lose the plot like that again just because of one player going off, it's madness.

No leadership, No pride, No fight we just gave up for sure, yes the tie was over from the first leg but come on show some pride and guts and honour the badge.

Yes Wenger needs to go as ultimately he carries the can but a lot of the players have to have a long serious hard look at themselves. Some of them they should feel shame in how they have consistently let Wenger down in big games and freeze on the big stage and wilt under pressure like they do its simply not good enough.

The media is really going to throw everything at Wenger now and to his credit he stands up and always faces the media and takes the all the blame, he is just been worn out these last few years really and has lost his mojo a long time ago.

Ryan, I was a neutral watching the game last night. I thought the sending off was a shame because Arsenal were playing well and putting it up to Bayern.
However, as bad as the referee was last night, do you really think the sending off was harsh? Lewandowski was through on goal, one on one. I reckon the ref had no choice, even though he nearly made a balls of that decision too!
Worst refereeing performance I've seen in a while! But not regarding the pen/ sending off.

08 Mar 2017 10:14:34
Macko did you not notice lewan was offside? shouldn't have been a penalty let alone a red card.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2017 15:48:22
WG,
It was a bad call from the linesman. Should never have gotten to that stage. My point was really just regarding the tackle itself. With no offside being called the. The ref had no option but to show the red card.
What was more of a game-changing decision was not to award Walcott a pen in the first half. I thought it was clear enough. Big decisions just didn't go your way on the night.

07 Mar 2017 23:43:07
To be honest i was expecting this humiliation even though the ref was a bit harsh with the red card. Don't think kos staying on the pitch would have made a big difference. Watched wenger's post match interview. He didn't look like he was willing to go. What should the club do now knowing that it is in the club's best interests and even wenger's own legacy that he steps down at the end of the season? Interesting times.

what gets my goat the most is, 1st half we were the better team, playing really well and scored 1 goal.

2nd half, Bayern were the better team, and scored 5.

The difference in class is unmeasurable.

Until the ref CHEATED, we were the better team. We have had so much bad luck lately. Yes we collapsed, but I don't see the score maters once we lost the second.
At Liverpool, their should have had a player sent off.
On a positive it was good to see the vast majority of the fans behind wenger and the team.
