the trick to playing like eboue

Step 1 receive ball

Step 2 knock ball 10 yards in front of you

step 3 loose ball

you are now as good as eboue

Bergkamp5353 {Ed027's Note - Did you see his goal tonight?

Believable7 Unbelievable11

But if it's a loose ball Eboue might still get to it before an opponent so don't really see your point.

I only sent the second post because firstly, I send that to be put under another post, not a post on its own like its shown, and secondly it sounded stupid due to 'ape rubbish'' which the eds must have modified after I said ape s**t. But, there's no getting away from this one and I was caught red handed ;) I hope i've unintentionally brought some humor to the post, not that it looks good on me.

Eds. what goalkeepers do Arsenal currently hold an interest in for a transfer this summer? Valdes? Ruffier? Begovic?

Cheers {Ed027's Note - Ruffier is the main name

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Ed do you think we would face much competition for his signature? I can remember there being talk of Lyon wanting him before they sold Lloris a season or two ago, and in your opinion how good a keeper is he? Thanks {Ed027's Note - He is a great GK, just look at St ettienes league position, a lot of it is down to him, Lyon will be no threat to us, we are financially way stronger than them

Agree1 Disagree2

Ed, would you expect Ruffier to be our first choice if signed, with Szczesny as back up? {Ed027's Note - Certainly

Agree1 Disagree1

Eds, so do you not believe Arsenal will be looking to sign a keeper with premier league experience this coming summer? {Ed027's Note -Anything can happen from now till the summer

Hi Eds first time posting any updates on a take over bid this summer and any chance david moyes becoming the next manager if take over goes through with wenger moving on board {Ed027's Note -I don't know anything about the takeover rumours, i'd expect Usmanov to buy more shares in the future. No to Moyes, not our style

Believable0 Unbelievable2

No Offense ed but Moyes may not be our style but we sure seem to want all his players - Arteta, Fellaini, Mirallas, Baines, Jagielka etc. Its kind of made me half an Everton supporter ;-))) {Ed027's Note - That's fair enough lol, but we'd use Fellani, Mirallas differently imo, Jagielka would be perfect, Arteta is used differently, Baines again would of been perfect had Nacho not been signed

for over 2 years AA23 has refused to go out on loan and be sold because he would not get 75k a week any where else.

he has got over 7 million for doing nothing the last couple of years and people still sick up for him.

shut the door on the way out andrei I will not miss you.

malaga gooner

Believable13 Unbelievable3

When he's loaned out he still earns the same wages, part may be payed by arsenal and part may be payed by the loaning club.

There was a deal from reading to buy him in Jan for 1 mill. he needed to take 25k a week less. clubs agreed, he turned it down.

Looking at posts were we have double quality in each position and who everyone would like to start. Just hoping we have that with a striker next season. Giroud for me has had a brilliant first season but we need another striker would like to see us sign a natural finisher to give us that bit of magic upfront. And wanyama to boss our midfield which is something we have missed.

I really do hope that Andrey gets one more run out to really show wenger what could have been. He's been through a tough time in his life recently since his divorce, as he was happy with his children's life here in london, but they have now moved back to Russia with their mother. I heard earlier today in a cafe not far from the ground 2 men saying that this was the best news they'd heard in yonks, I then heard them using language not acceptable to use on this forum to insult Andrey, as you can imagine I was disgiusted and I've been feeling pretty low since then as I never thought that arsenal fans were like that towards members of the squad and I hope that this is a minority. I then took to youtube to relive the magic of the little russian from Zenit, and without sounding too girly here, I was deeply depressed and upset. I really do hope he gets one more run out, not that he will, but I would atlestlike some sort of admiration shown towards him, as in my opinion it is partly down to Wenger for the astonishing dip in form and let's not forget confidence. I'll admit it, I was booing last season when Andrey came on vs Man u, and looking back I feel like a right person. But, life goes on and I hope andrey can find a club where he can display the trickery that gripped the Emirates for a little while. Good luck to the future Andrey, there's only one arshhhhhhhavin!

Agree10 Disagree5

Gotta agree with A GOONER on this one.
how anyone can fall from so high so quickly is beyond me.
this guy was great, I remember the 4 he smashed past Liverpool and the way he turned things round for us that season -
this was a truley world class player we had - he was the best player we had ever signed (in that all the greats we've had became great when they were at Arsenal, not before).

it is unbelievable when you look at his stats on w1k1 -
you think, "where was the bad season where he lost his place?"
there wasnt one. he was a player being played out of position with some pretty poor teammates.

and the guy is only 31 years old.

really think Arshavin's story is a tragedy - had he gone to another club, under a different manager, who knows how he'd be remembered. more than just a flash in the pan at a few tournaments for Russia though I'd imagine.

True Wenger ruined him by putting him on the wing. Then he ruined himself by not being consistent and just lazy.

What's all this talk about Van Persie being better ever since he moved to Man U? Personally, I think his performance last year beats this by far.
He is a great player no doubt but I think man u have been consistent this year. He is still with less than 20 goals in the league and very few assists. I also think our attack this year has been more prolific. We would have been top of the league if not the fact that we lost some matches which we were expected to win with ease. hope am not the only one who is seeing it this way.

Believable13 Unbelievable1

09 Apr 2013 19:31:20
Which ever way you look at it, he is a bottler, did it against Milan last year for us and what he failed to do in Madrid for them is still hanging around his neck now.

Saw reports today that Arshavin is considering retiring at the end of the season at only 31. So sad to see what has happened to him over the last 18 months or so, I saw some critics of his (not on here) saying it must be nice to do nothing and still earn 95k a week, but personally I'm just disappointed with the way his time at Arsenal seems to be ending. When he joined I was so excited, I thought he was world class particularly after his first season and expected so much of him for years to come. I honestly thought he could be our Ryan Giggs a quality player that could stay at the club for years and prove invaluable. I will never forget the four goals at Anfield or the winner against Barcelona which was one of the best nights of my life. Hope he doesn't go out like this, I still hold a hope that he will get fit and return with a bang though I know this is almost impossible now.

Edd are we keeping tabs on mvilla or are we looking elsewhere {Ed027's Note - Mvilla is gone, we never wanted him, Grimandi recommended Wanyama over him, expect him or Capoue imo

sorry that's incorrect. grimandi and stephane blasque were both talking up m'vila last summer and acting as if it were pretty much done.

it fell through in july, but some people (fairthorne on twitter) couldn't let it drop.

but to say we never wanted him is more than 100% wrong, sorry.

I said the other day that it would be nice if he, Eisfeld and possibly Bellerin made the step up.

That's as long as we add more quality, experienced guys during the summer and hoping that the likes of the Ox, Ramsey, Walcott and Gervinho also up their game again next season.

I'm not slating them just appreciating all four have room for improvement on this season.

Agree14 Disagree0

Eisfeld as well!

Agree4 Disagree0

I don't think they are near ready for the step up. Another year at u21, and then a year on loan, and THEN they could step into the 1st team. I don't want arsenal to start losing games because of a forced introduction of youth, just for youth's sake.

Agree2 Disagree3

09 Apr 2013 20:07:38
Daniel,

I think it's the fact that we won't be able to buy enough to fill all the possible squad places that may become available if we get rid of all those we want/need to.

Thus some may have to step up, those probably being the most able. They would be better than some currently filling those spots.

I'm asuming those we buy will be proper 1st team players.

Stoner

Agree4 Disagree0

On the face of it, all the players that we have loaned away from the club, don't have a future back at Arsenal. Possible we might have 7-8 slots to fill next season, so you might be right. If we do have 2, hopefully Akpom is the first man on the list. This next-gen gimick is over-rated though. players like hayden and yennaris. they just aren't going to be arsenal players. olsson aswell. too lightweight.

Hi ed, whether we make top four or not, there has to be big investment into the first team this summer. Too many of our players lack the character and ability to perform week in week out. The current team is lacking a spine, without which we will never achieve what we all wish for. Essentially we need a goalie, centre back, dominant midfielder and a clinical finisher. Current incumbents in those roles, szczesny, mertesacker, diaby and giroud are woefully short of the standard required to make us a top top team. When you dissect the fact that those four collectively cost around 23 million, it is a frugal amount for four pivotal roles. To think we could have easily had vertonghen, Capoue and remy, coupled with a bid for begovic in the summer. Surely we have to replace these four players. I could find a spot for giroud alongside a remy or a jovetic but the others are lucky to be in an arsenal shirt. Until this problem is fixed, we will only be scrapping for a fourth place finish, and with the resources we have, this is no longer good enough. Revelino. {Ed027's Note - We will see quite a few changes regardless of our position, though I expect top 4 now

Believable2 Unbelievable18

I'm soo glad you are not the person responsible for the transfers.

Agree14 Disagree0

Once Vertonghen, Capoue and Remy put on an Arsenal shirt you will find a way to hate on them too.

Squad is looking real good and just needs some modest touch ups and maybe one big signing for the fans.

COYG

Agree16 Disagree6

Mertesacker? He has been one of our best players this year. Especially with Kos alongside.

Also why are people so insistent on hating Giroud? His stats speak volumes about his contribution.

Agree23 Disagree3

I agree that our team lacks character. Too many players that are confidence players who need a hug all the time (Gervinho, Walcott etc. ). Also agree that the spine is where we need to strengthen but it stops there.

None of those players are "woefully short of the standard required" and I think most of them are good squad players. The problem I believe is that they are not good enough to be regular first XI (Chesney will be in time I think but needs a year or 2). And you really think Vertonghen and Remy are that much better?

Agree4 Disagree0

The partnership of per and koss the boss is a beautiful thing

Ed's, are we looking at any world class cbs this year? We definitely need to upgrade our back line and I don't think amorbieta is the solution. We need someone who can start, not another 4th cb like Djourou that we all cringe at when he's on the pitch. Thanks mate.

Eds, do you know why Podolski isn't being played anymore? Originally I thought he was still injured but he was fit enough to play for Germany. Has he fallen out with Wenger do you know? {Ed027's Note - Apparently he needs a op, that's why he kept getting subbed off, Wenger doesn't want to risk it, unless I'm missing something of course, I'll ask again
