So City have a commanding lead in the first leg but the tie isn't over yet, 9-0 deficits have been turned around before.

Top of the morning to you 12 mate, yes I could have been a very successful novelist but all my thrillers turned into stories about people who make flour and all my love stories turned into stories about people with cold hands:- (

While on the whole VAR is a good thing, how wrong was that decision last night. It was embarrassing for the people in the studio studying. Even they don't know the protocol. Not only was Kane offside, even if he wasn't, the linesman flagged him offside and because it wasn't a clear and obvious offside mistake, the linesman decision should have been final. Var is being introduced to right 100% wrongs not tight decisions. We know nothing is going to ever be 100% infallible but surely the people making decisions must know their job properly. Kanes offside wasnt obvious so nothing should have been changed. Still at least they have a few more months to get it right. Last night showed, tight decisions should be left alone and the rational behind bringing it in is correct and should be adhered to.

We have a player of the month/ year manager of month/ year why not ref and lines person of the Month/ year with a healthy cash rewards for those who get it right most often in comparison to others.
X amounts of points for every really good call and x amounts of points away for for every really poor decision, I'm sure some business somewhere would love to been seen as sponsoring and supporting fairness in the hope that the public would associate their business with fairness and right decisions.
The bigger the reward the more every official would work to attain it and the harder they work towards being the best the better they all get.

It just shows what a difficult job refereeing is. VAR is a positive aid to getting decisions correct, but it still depends on those viewing the replay to get the decision right. I have looked numerous times at replays in an attempt to see whether a decision is correct and it is not easy. One thing must happen, is that players are not allowed to approach or berate the referee once he has called for VAR. This must be immediately punished by a yellow card. My immediate instinct last night was offside.

I agree gunner more accountable for their actions and ability to actually do the job they are supposed too. The refs have a hard job the VAR people just have to do the job to the book.

Agreed Steve my personal view is we need to celebrate the best officials in order to raise the bar for everyone.
Given the money the players managers earn I don't think rewarding the best ref of the season with £1 million prize would be out of order and like I say I'm pretty sure there are plenty of companies who would love to associate themselves with anything that champions making fair play and making great decisions! £1 million would be a steal for any big organisation, extremely cheap advertising if you ask me.

RG, the point is if its not clear, the VAR people shouldn't be changing it, it wasnt clear and obvious and the linesman didn't make a clear and obvious error. The people doing VAR were the clear and obvious mistake.

Stop the players trying to con the refs and you instantly get better decisions from the refs.
It cracks me up when a manager moans about a ref making a mistake but allows his players to try every trick in the book to try and provoke a refs mistake :-)
Not on my back yard I think they call it, or in other words ban all players who dive against my team but not my players for diving :-)

My main concern with VAR is the time its taking and the effect on the game. I think all VAR decisions should therefore have a time limit of say 30 seconds. If it can't prove a clear on field decision wrong in that time then the decision stands and the game continues. For me, once VAR needs the 50th view from a different angle, or has to go to the satellite view because you still can't quite see if he was offside. then its waaaay too slow, and it will kill the speed of the game. We need this decisions to be quick and move on, or we risk football becoming the same as Rubby, where virtually every try is now checked before its awarded and the games are stopped frequently to check for incidents.

Two 1 var ref views the incident for 20 seconds which is 19 seconds longer than the man on the field gets and gives his honest opinion which we all accept including the premier league who ban all divers and actors for 3 to 5 games depending on how clear and obvious the dive or acting is, all players who get banned for diving or acting lose their entitlement to be paid while banned.
Job done no more diving or acting even if their manager wants them too and the game is all the better for it.

I asked a while ago about Tah and heard that his name was mentioned as someone we were looking at, has there been any change in this situation?
