Strongly linked to Steven Caulker.

I know he's ex-Spurs but decent centre half and scores a fair amount of goals.

I wouldn't say no.

Good call. A under-rated defender and was a consistent top performer for Cardiff last season. Dangerous in the attacking box like you say and can also fill in at RB aswell. Could be a good RB option for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

What and Remy! In the same window! Too much excitement for me Dags, I'm off to bed.
Sweet nightmares :-)

Can't help but think if we intend on signing greizman we had better get a deal in place quick. At his age, and a good world cup, he looks sharp too, his price could double

Believable0 Unbelievable0

See Real Sociadad are reported to want to buy out Carlos Velas buy back clause for £8m + to stop us buying him for 3.5m. They obviously have a very good, larger offer for Velaon the table. Surely if we are interested in Griezmann then this should help us to sign him.

Wenger has signed on for another 3 years.

He is 'grooming' Steve Bould to take over as manager for when he retires.

Thoughts?.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

50/50 really, untested but so is everyone before their first job, I can see the sense but also the down side. That reply wasn't much help really was it :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 19:59:52
That was an honest reply mate, fair play to you.

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I like Steve Bould. Manager of arsenal I'd have to say no.
It's the lack of experience as a number 1 that would worry me. Also I know it should be the size of the club that attracts players but I feel a relative unknown his pulling power in the transfer market may be limited.

I'd also like the club to find the next manager without Wengers help. We have just seen the disaster at Manchester United and old red noses influence.
The hierarchy will need to grow a pair and pick in my opinion a top well known in world football manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 23:02:14
That's a fair point Rocky.

I think players are not just attracted to the club but the manager too.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 23:38:18
Yes for all Wenger's faults we should not underestimate his pulling power in the transfer market. Players want to play under Wenger because he gives players a lot more freedom to play their game than a lot of other top mangers do.

Against that is our lack of recent silverware FA Cup aside which often means we are more attractive to younger players wanting a platform to shine rather than older players that often want almost guaranteed trophies to add on their CV and take the easy option.

Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was
really pissed.

She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the
driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE!"

The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke
up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box
gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway.

Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought
the box back in the house.

She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Bob has been missing since Friday.

Talk about fat My wife got on one of those 'I Speak Your Weight' scales the other day. She jumped on and the scales said
"One at a time please"

Me and the wife were watching crime watch the other night and they showed a photofit of a man they were looking for and said "HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN? "
My wife rang up and said no, I've never seen him before

Ed002 will Marco Reus definitely be joining Barcelona this summer?
Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Give me a break. I cannot answer "definitely" questions.}

08 Jun 2014 19:34:23
ED002, I understand I'll probably get shot down for asking, but when you wrote your list on Arsenal's striker transfer targets, you said you think Reus will very likely be off to Barcelona. Are there anymore big "surefire" deals that aren't really known about yet? Or any big transfers which look EXTREMELY likely?

Also, if you don't mind me asking, how are you lot "ITK", if you will.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is tough to say anything is "surefire", but Barcelona believe that Reus will join them. In the same way as Chelsea are of the opinion that Diego Costa will join. I know only a little about the other Eds so I cannot answer that question.}

Ed is the first rule of Ed club that you never talk to other Ed's about Ed club?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You have lost me there.}

09 Jun 2014 19:55:14
Lol Ed,

It's a line from a film called fight club starring Brad Pitt.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have never heard of it. Sorry.}

Sorry Ed it was a silly joke based on the film Fight Club where the first rule of fight club is you don't talk about fight club.
I guess you had to know the film :-( sorry about that and please pass my apologies on to the many wife's

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not to hip to films with the word "fight" in the title. There are not "many" wives, just "some".}

Fantastic gunner62, laughed hard at that

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed is it true you are actually the stigg?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I was at the race when Perry had the "accident".}

Some say he once wrestled 2 crocodiles while changing the oil non a jumbo jet, also it's been said he sleeps on a mattress made of moon rock! All we know is he's Ed002

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 15:26:27
Hey Ed, any info on us being linked with Balotelli? more paper talk but I dnt think its too bad a shout to be honest. just wondering if you knew anything else or had any thoughts on it?

Would you be dissapointed if we bought Draxler as our superstar striker? I know there was rumours last window that Wenger wanted to change him in to a striker.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

From what I have seen of him. no. he looks the full package.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed has said that we are not longer looking at Draxler.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I know they say that and sorry to say it but they are not always right. Who knows what is going on in this brilliant mind of Wenger.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger and you play too much of football manager, draxler will end up at bayern and that's for sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 18:40:27
We had our chance to sign him in January but, for whatever reason, maybe his injury, we didn't sign him

That ship has sailed along time ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

As others said, Ed and other media sources are adamant the deal is dead (even though the same sources were adamant the deal was done in Jan). But I would LOVE the see Hazard as our striker. Going to be one the best players in the world, very soon, no matter what position he settles into.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - lets just assume you meant Draxler and not Hazard}

Oh yes sorry! Was thinking about Hazard because if we don't sign DRAXLER it will be exactly the same as when we missed out Hazard. Turns into a world class player once another club snaps him up.
Apologies.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 13:13:02
So it seems that Chelsea are trying to strike a deal with barcelona for Fabregas where they try and evade us gaining any profit from the transfer made

Wenger needs to play hardball and sign him to rub it into Mourinhos face, just like what was done with the Ba transfer

Would provide depth with inevitable injuries and would have a player who plays for the shirt and not the money

Question for the eds or again anyone in the know. How exactly do clubs go about putting a value on a player? Do they literally just pick a number based on how much of his contract is left and market trends or is there some sort of actual maths involved?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As far as I'm aware (I'm aware of very little on this subject) there's a company or stock or financial market or something that works 'official' values of a player (it may even be insurance or something, the agent plays a part on his 'official' value, but the club value is different) but that's rarely how it works.

For example, transfermarkt (I know it's not the 'official' valuing one, but I forget it) states Aaron Ramsey is worth £17, 600,000 or £17.6m.

If someone offered us that right now, would you take it?
Of course not.

A club usually works out the value of a player depending on his age, talent, contract length remaining and position at the club.

Ramsey for us is a key player.
I'd dare say I'd personally not even entertain less than £40m for him.

Now let's say for arguments sake Ramsey only has 1 year left on his deal and came to the club saying he's not going to sign a new deal for all the tea in china.

Either you keep him for a season and see him go free, or you sell him to make money whilst you can.

That £40m offer I was saying would be needed to even think about it, now drops to about £17-20m because no club will pay full value when they can pay not at all and use the money saved to offer him a bigger contract anyway.
However, if like that Dutch lad, you have multiple clubs after you when you're going to leave, the club can play that a little to get more money for selling you, even if you only have one year left.

Same if Ramsey was still in this current form, but he's 31.
He's still a key player, but nobody's paying £40m for a 31 year old.
His value would probably be less than half that.

Wenger did well to get £20m for that Dutch bloke IMO

I may of gone off topic, I probably missed a LOT of key info and was quite possibly wrong on everything, but that's how I understand the general gist of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 18:34:55
They go on the web to
'We Buy Any Player'
You put in the players details, age games played including internationals, injuries etc and the club gets made an offer. If you accept the offer a rep pops round pays the club and takes the player with him. Hope that helps :)

Lol Golds.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have found out recently that "lol" does not mean "lots of love". Did you know that Dags?}

09 Jun 2014 21:25:14
Lol Ed,

I always imply it as 'laugh out loud".

But I do use it a lot.

{Ed002's Note - That is not what people have been thinking man.}

You could be right Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2014 18:54:43
Eds are certain factors like,

how many players of same nationality/ language spoken/ does the manager speak my language

have any REAL impact on a players decision to join?

i'd like to believe that money isn't the only thing that talks when it comes to a players future

taking fabregas as an example, would he enjoy being at chelsea as much as arsenal? both being london teams he would no doubt see a lot of our squad to catch up and what not

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it depends on the player, they all have their own minds and reasons for moving to another team.}

09 Jun 2014 08:46:29
Calum chambers as Jenks understudy?
I'd be happy with that but I'm pro Jenks and think if not now then when will he get his chance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think that'd work well. I would get a player/coach right back in there mid 30's to coach the two

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 11:41:32
Completely agree. He has improved with every game I've seen him play. Not much point signing him when we did, if we weren't going to give him a go when Sagna left. You'd think he'd be pretty unhappy if we brought a player in over him, and it would only be fair, IMO, to let him move on to find first team chances if we did.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 13:01:27
Jenk's'll never leave. even if he was 5th choice. Carl's a GOONER

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Outback. what's the point of having Jenks as Sagna's understudy for two years if we don't now promote him.I Don't agree with signing a player the same age as Jenks (IE Aurier) as ultimately only 1 can play regularly, and Jenks would be devastated if he now wasn't given his chance surely? Much better to sign either a young back up or a very experienced. but not in the middle.

Agree0 Disagree0

My opinion is that Wenger would have done his utmost to keep Sagna if he thought Jenks was'nt ready for the starting place.

Therefore I calculate that x -z * w squared= . what was I saying again.

Saw many of you want a keeper and reina was apparently linked with you today. Just thought I'd ask for your opinions of him. Would you take him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jun 2014 05:56:21
No thank you from me . Think we can find better.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think he is still a quality keeper golds..

09 Jun 2014 08:19:38
I agree with golds here. Always thought he was very over rated. His distribution always looked far too dodgy for me

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 09:08:00
I would take him.
Bit suspect on crosses but he is a good shot stopper.
Wenger wanted him years ago but I would definitely take him

Cant see him being happy as a number 2 though.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 13:03:07
Sir syxyzyxney over him any day, and he's mad wages. for a number 2? no thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

I want us to sign that Jesus fella but I believe he is also a bit dodgy on crosses.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 15:21:57
Reina still top GK in my opinion. He might not be a comsiderable improvement on Szszency, but if he came there would be competiton, which is only a good thing.

I believe bringing in Monreal brought the best out of Gibbs, knowing he was competing with a Spain international. Ok some of you might not rate Monreal but I think he us a very good 2nd choice. Also why we have to buy another RB, whether its Aurier, Chambers or Cafu we need to give Jenks competition, make him earn the no.1 slot.

France best Jamaica in a friendly.

Benzema, Giroud and Griezman scored 2 goals each.

Hmmm I wonder.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What about Remy, Dags?

Agree0 Disagree0

Matuidi scored twice. Giroud only once mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Benzema played great alongside Giroud even thou he played from th wing. Interestin because we also like playin wit one cf & two wingers.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2014 09:10:30
G95, Remy was having a well deserved rest, lol.

You are correct Aussie, thanks mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be happy with Remy as a cheaper option as long as we got Griezmann. Griezmmann and benzema would be a bonus
