I'm sorry I didn't realise we'd transcended to a parallel universe in which people gave a monkeys toss about the europa league.

Please please please will people stop talking about fielding a weakened team against bayern wigan or who ever. The team is picked by the manager which is sent out to do a job. If a player is or isn't playing there maybe a reason why or why not we are not privy to. Me personally there are quite a few players that definitely are not shoe ins and a bit of freshening up is not a bad thing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its called squad rotation Steve, everyone else does it and its acceptable but Arsene! We'll?
Let's face it if we beat Bayern 3 0 and go through (I did put IF) some people would still question him.
Since Sanogo came in the team Giroud hasn't stopped scoring, the bloke was knacked and Arsene obviously didn't think Betner or Poldolski could replace him so once Sanogo was fit he has.

It looks like we have all calmed down once again and realised that we have got the best manager in the world.
We won't win the league, I reckon 3rd.
We will go out gallantly against Munich.
But win the FA Cup.
This is a improvement and onwards and upwards.
Wenger is the man and with a few additions we will wipe that smug smile of that little pony in Stamford Bridge.
But I'm going to share something with you, this time it wasn't just the boss that pulled that result out of the bag against Everton.
My missus treated me last week to a surprise gift.
It was a legends tour at the Emirates with the legendary Perry Groves.
My missus is a bit special in terms of what she does. She's Regression spiritualist and clears energy.
I told her to help Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud.
If any of u guys have been on the tour. She did this in the players changing room.
I told Perry Groves. And he gave her a mention on Friday last week before the game. Everyone else including Collin Murray was very sceptical
But we know what happened on Saturday.
I want the best for the Gooners. Some might not believe that.
If you don't believe anything in this post. Listen to between 11.45 and 12 tomorrow. Because Perry Groves has asked my missus to come on the show

Welcome back Wengerism

Agree0 Disagree0

It's of course an improvement IF we win it. But I can't see us wiping mourinho's men off top spot this season and IMO they'll just get better, hard to see anyone else bar city and Chelsea winning the league anytime soon, sad to say.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aaaarrrgghhh

Just listened to it. Nice one. She sounds like a keeper. Purely because by the sound of it if you piss her about she could seriously f**k up your shakra. Hope it lasts mate. The consequenses could be dire once Mars is inserted in uranus.

IN REPLY TO BANBURY GOONER POST ABOUT WENGER TINKERING WITH FA CUP TEAM:

Banbury - don't think you should be telling him how to do HIS job - I'm sure he wouldn't be so rude as to try and tell you how to clean the toilets!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

When I spend £100 every time to watch Arsenal I am entitled to, don't you think, when you also consider he has gone the longest period of time without a trophy in my time, I have a point, all I am saying is if he thinks he can play Sanogogogog, Jenkinson, Monreal and walk all over Wigan, forget . a full strength team please

Agree0 Disagree0

I should also add he wouldn't know which end of thebrush to use so he could hardly instruct me :) LOL

Absolutely mirror the posts that you cannot take Wigan lightly.

But and there's always a but in this brilliant site.

If we don't get to the final and get beaten by Wigan should AW hang up his boots and walk.at the end of the season.

We are the best team by far out of the last 4 all of us can see silverware .can AW

your thoughts

Be Lucky

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I had this thought earlier.

If we lose to Wigan or even worse, Sheff Utd or Hull in the final, the pressure on Wenger would literally unbearable!

Let's obviously hope it doesn't come to that!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if that happens we should give AW at least another year.

We have to give him the benefit, due to the Emirates move. Now the financial shackles are off I expect AW to spend big and make big improvements on our team for next year.

The guy deserves that much.

(Not underestimating Wigan though)

Lol draw paired us with ManC or Wigan. I then assumed the worst and thought "great ManC in the semi"

Wigan thankfully had other ideas.

Still we cannot take Wigan lightly and must be aware that what they did against City they could do against us.

We have to take every game equally seriously and apply the old "no easy games" adage and play wigan withas much preparation effort and determination as we would use against ManC, Bayern or anyone

Last time we were in this kind of situation we messed it up in the final V Birmingham. We need to be on the ball and make sure that outcome isn't repeated

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Mar 2014 19:03:40
Would rather play Wigan than City - pretty obvious

BUT

They beat city and deserve to be thru - we could not beat city away so we have to stay focused because we have a great chance to win a cup. I thought that against Birmingham and we screwed that up some how.

Lets be happy it's not City but don't get cocky and get bitten on the ass!

Let's go for the jugular on Tuesday night and see where we stand at halftime. I think we have a chance.

Lets bag some points in the league and worry about the FA cup when it's the next game.

Still a lot to play for this season

Banbury
Let's leave the predictions to others from now on mate, between us we couldn't have called our the semi opposition more wrong if we tried.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be fair I think we weren't alone could anyone in the UK ( Wigan fans apart) see Wigan actually winning today, a draw at best. We will have to have our wits about us . Wenger rest players at your peril

Agree0 Disagree0

Just watching a round up of European games. Bayern won 6-1. Not exactly what we all want to hear. Must say though the German league has flaked badly this season. I think if we get the first goal on Tuesday, it might be squeaky bums time for Bayern and we might just pull it off. Then onto C**kspurs. No Kaboul, Dawson a doubt, so that leaves verthonghen their only fit CB. Well let's get behind the boys, hopefully Wenger will accept that Giroud needs to start both games and no more experimenting for now, also Ox and Rosicky should start in my opinion.

Come on Arsenal!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ig OG is going to score two when coming on for 20 mins. then maybe it's better to get a FRESH OG against a TIRING opposition. remember SAF going through a period of bring on giggs (before he was OLD) after 60 mins and watch him burn the full backs.

Agree0 Disagree0

My thoughts exactly exiled, sanogo tired out the cb's when olly came on they didn't have the stamina to deal with him

Agree0 Disagree0

Banbury what you going to do if he rests
Kos Mert Ramsey Ox Ozil Giroud and Sagna and we win 10 0?
If that happens please let me have your address, I've never seen anyone spontaneously combust before

CL rank outsides
Nothing to lose hey ho let's give it a go

PL long shots
Its been proved today yet again city are far from invincible, Chelski are the one to beat and again we go there with little to lose, so same as Bayern let's really have a go at them.

FA CUP, RED HOT FAVORITES NOW!
This is the pressure competition all of a sudden with out another big name in sight. We just can not afford not to win it now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Mar 2014 18:35:01
Why do I now think Wenger will not play his strongest team in the FA Cup? The only reason not to is because we have a quarter final in the CL! ;-)

Maybe this is the turnaround in our season. In a fame we never played in!

COME ON YOU GOONERS!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Mar 2014 18:21:55
Ok

So we are now favourites.

If Wenger tinkers with the team and we don't win the cup then I am finished with the man, Mr Wenger just shut your eyes and imagine we are playing first M City and then Chelsea and field your strongest team in first the semi and then the final, if you do that and we lose then the players need to be blamed, starting messing with the team and get beat, well you know where the door is. No excuses, we need this trophy . please. now how can I get a ticket

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In every round wenger has tinkered with the squad a little, and each time we have won.
Let's have a little faith in wenger I'm sure he understands how big an oppurtunity it is for us.
Tbh it shouldn't matter too much who plays because many of the players are good enough to beat Wigan, but as proven by today nothing is given.
Just hope the players role up their sleeves and give it their all, this could be a first step, actually huge leap into what could be the start a new power house in football.

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL
Waq you have just contradicted yourself,,,,,, it doesn't who plays and then you say after Wigan's result nothing is a given.

If Wigan can win at M City, where we got beat 6-3 then we need a strong side out. If he does that then he can't be criticised

Agree0 Disagree0

Man city don't play a passing game like we do, we have more accurate passers and play more as a unit.

Yaya toure was isolated a bit today so couldn't drive foward like he usually does.

wigan play like that against us and I can see us winning it 3-1.
im sure rosler will be tactical enough to pose a threat though.

remember wigans premier league team isn't suted to the more physical and stamina intensive championship. link ozil in the championship. he thinks he's knackerd now!

Agree0 Disagree0

It wasn't really a contradiction, by saying nothing is given merely means anything can happen, strong team or weak.
just because city beat us 6-3 doesn't mean they would beat us with the same score every time.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2014 18:21:52

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2014 18:14:13
Unbelievable. Just watched the whole game and couldn't be happier. 1, a humble team overcame moneyboys City due to pure fighting spirit and belief, which is great for football. and 2, we have an excellent chance of winning the FA cup now, which is of course great for us!

BUT - that was quite a performance from Wigan and we shouldn't take them lightly. That was one of the best defensive performances I've seen this season. Yes - they got lucky with City missing a few good chances, but there was some fantastic last-ditch challenging and they generally stayed very organised. Boyce and Crainey were particularly impressive. It will be a great game, you've got to tip us to take the last 2 though.

Wigan beat City because they had greater belief, even though their players are much worse. We've been up and down about the quality of our squad recently - it is looking like we may not have enough quality to win the League. but we undeniably have way more quality than any other teams left in the tournament. On top of that - our team has the spirit and belief that City lacked today, and more than enough of it to win this Cup.

So excited!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good summary Oleg, belief is our biggest enemy in big games and we now have the safety net of a fantastic opportunity in the FA cup, so let's throw caution to the wind and really have a go at Bayern city and Chelski.
But like you say we must not under estimate the Wigan or even spurs come to that.
Wigan are the holders of the FA cup and spurs are? Well they were a half tidy side in the sixty's I'm told along with Hereford

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Spurs have won the old First Divsion title as many times as twice and as recently as 1961, the year they completed their 'hstoric double'. Whereas the Arsenal have won the top flight title 13 times and completed 3 doubles. Forever in our GIANT shadow.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2014 18:13:15
WOW! Didn't see that one coming. A few hours ago I was obviously disappointed we were practically drawn against city, and then Wigan go on to make a massive shock. Congratulations to them. Whisper it quietly, but could our 9 years without a trophy be coming to an end?

The good news is we don't have to play city. The bad news is we have to play the conquerors of city.

It's like moaning that you won the lottery with the line that didn't have the family birthdays on it. :-)

Does EMMERSON BOYCE for Wigan sound like CHRIS EUBANK or what? Or was it Chris Eubank being interviewed making out he is Emmerson Boyce. Best you hope for a Wigan win mate, it could cost you an arm and leg if we have to play city mate :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's already cost me an appendix. Not sure I can give up my arm and leg!

Great news Greeny both arms and legs are well safe for another season!
What price Wigan? Its got to be worth a cheeky ear mate or at least a toe or three

Hi all, haven't posted in a long time but still addicted to this site. Read this morning that Manchester United will look to buy TV5 in the summer to replace vidic, price in the region of £12m.

My question is would anyone take a swap? RatVP for TV5?

I hope TV5 stays but I can't blame him if he wants to leave in search of first team football, he's a quality centre half and I'd hate it if he signed for the Manc's.

Personally I wouldn't want to see RVP back in an arsenal shirt, he's burnt his bridges at Arsenal and their can't be any turning back for him.

What do the rest of you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Let TV go, he isn't the player he was when he first came to the club, not playing hasn't helped, but he needs to go. look at his mistake yesterday which very nearly gifted Everton a 2nd goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly response to 'Goldboy'. i'm an local boy to Arsenal, live round the back of Highbury.

Anyway, PeterC, I am also very intrigued in what's happening with RVP, Idefinitely think he is out of United in the summer, but interestingly to me is how its coming about. It looks to me as if both club and player know he is out the door. More interestingly to me anyway, I was told about RVP returning to Arsenal in November I think it was. I dismissed it at the time, but then later came the full blooded talk in January and Feb.

The things I look at are these, firstly was Wenger's reaction to being asked about us looking at resigning RVP, and he just sort of sat there with a smug look on his face and wouldn't be drawn into the question at all, then in the game RVP was absolutely terrible. He played like a man who didn't want to score. I have seen this type of play before in another ex Arsenal player. Does anyone remeber How Henry played on his return with Barca, he had no interest in playing against us at all.

Roll on a few weeks and RVP has continued to lay into United and the tactics, also United give Rooney ridiculous money, for a player who was almost out the door. to me it all looks very dodgy.

As for RVP back at Arsenal. I THINK IT COULD VERY WELL HAPPEN. That right I said it! The truth is as fans we hate anyone that turns their back on us. We treat them like a partner whose just cheated on us, won the lottery and taken a sh*t and posted it through our letterbox. BUT in football terms it actually makes good sense. We all agree if we had RVP this season we would be top of the league and clear. As much as I like Girouds effort, all of our current strikers put together are still not as good as RVP. We need a striker a top one at that, so who do you really see us signing? The top talents take top money and I doubt Wenger will spend over 30m for a striker. RVP will probably cost about 12m-15m he knows the system, knows the players, and will come in with minimal ego. Wenger will know doubt punish him in contractual terms for his actions, but if we are honest, Wenger does not hold grudges like we do. Flamini is a prime example, he was one of the first to start the leaving culture we are now used to, but look at him this season, can we honestly say that he wasnt a good signing? Even Bendtner! We get behind him and sing his name.

So with that in mind I for one wouldn't mind him back, but I won't go as far to say I will be getting a shirt with his name on it! But let him scpre a few goals and reluctantly we will get behind him again.

Anyway on to Bayern, I still firmly believe we do actually play better without Jack at the moment, we start with Chambo and Rosicky and we have every chance. Well done to TV5 aswell good to see him back and playing well enough.

The life of a football fan is a hard emotional one!.

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP is 31 and still a bit of a risk with injuries. I think having him would mean less esprit de corps among the team as he is totally self centred, arrogant and greedy.
WE are where because we have a great team spirit, good policies and good team management. Why would we like to throw all that away- with still no guarantee success- we didn't exactly win a million trophies BECAUSE he played for us

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm disgusted by myself, but, yes. I would have home back

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP. back

WTF. not a cat in 'e'lls chance, the way he celebrated against us was disgusting. He has no respect for a club that stood by him. it isn't like Henry or Cesc who actually love us, bring them back any day of the week. RVP. will spend more time on the treatment table. he can sod off

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Banbury

I suffered the ecstasy of being at anfield in 89 and the sheer agony of being at Wrexham.

If you recall the Anfield game was postponed from the week after Hillsborough and I'd told a Liverpool supporting colleague to get me a ticket for anywhere in the ground expecting it to be a close to the end of season game albeit significant to the title race.

He got the ticket and I paid without seeing it and he wouldn't tell me where it was in the ground. So on the day of the game I set off from work in Kidderminster with him and 2 more Liverpool supporting mates.

Bearing in mind Liverpool hadn't been beaten by 2 clear goals all season they were in a very celebratory mood and I was a right grouchy git lol

We got to Anfield and they gave me my ticket. for the Kop. That really improved my mood, expecting to be in the middle of their title celebrations.

Anyway we know the outcome but a few things happened after Micky T took his place in history-

I remember losing control and over hearing a Scouse voice asking "Who let that gooner in here (maybe put a tad more bluntly lol) and a group of other Liverpool fans telling him to shut up. Then when the final whistle blew I was patted on the back by disconsolate Pool fans and congatulated. It took ages to get out of the ground.

Knowing how disappointed they must have been I still admire their sportsmanship from that night.

I also remember turning to the lad who got the ticket and, just before the final whistle, uttering the words. "We'll find some way to cock this up, its the way we are, flatter to deceive". I simply didn't believe it could be really happening lol

On the way back we stopped at a chippy. By this point the car contained one deliriously happy gooner and 3 well p'd off Pool fans.

I opened the door to let the other 3 in with a chirpy "I suppose I should let you be first at something" comment. I got served last and walked out to. no sign of the car or the other 3.

There I am in the middle of nowhere couple of quid in my pocket and lost. Then after about 30 seconds I heard giggles of laughter from round a corner. Sods were getting their own back

Wonderful wonderful memories

Wrexham was the same with a friend getting the ticket for me. At the end I simply shook the hands of the people around me and tried to be as sporting as I could and then snuck away lol. That night was just horrid lol

I was also at Walsall in 83 and my 1st ever Arsenal game was at Molyneux. We got there late so I missed our goal. we proceeded to lose 5-1.

Then my 2nd game was at Villa park, lol, I got there 5 mins late and we lost 5-1 lol

I was also at the FA Centenary Cup final at villa park to see us win that beating Man U 2-1.

God memory lane is a wonderful place.wayyyyyyyyy better than anothe lane I could mention lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh yes memories, the '89 was superb, I was unlucky enough to be at Wembley for the '88 league cup final when we were 2-1 against Luton, Winterburn missed a penalty and then Luton scored 2 late on

Agree0 Disagree0

I was in the Kop that Friday evening, rightfully though (Liverpool fan).
What I always remember about that night is a lad just behind us who'd made this seven foot tall carrot, painted orange with a green top and everything.
This was around the time that Tony Adams was getting all the donkey stick around the grounds.
Haha, this lad was waving this carrot about. Getting everyone going and bouncing . By the time the teams are ready to run out, the Kop was like a surging cauldron, and we're all about to give Adams the treatment.
Course, what happened when Arsenal ran out? Adams has a bunch of flowers with him as a mark of respect.
Everyone burst into applause instead!
We all stayed to later see him lift the championship. I can remember the Arsenal end going totally mental.
C'est la vie. 89 is remembered for other things by Liverpool fans, but fair play to yours.
I still think Hornby shouldn't have wrote that daft book though. Not after what had happened at Hillsborough.

Great to see how much Per loves the FA Cup and Arsenal

Also great to see the support from the team for Ozil plus the joy from all for the way he aged

I love it when players genuinely care - they get paid a lot to do their JOB. So it's great to see the connection with club/ fans and their team mates

I like this team and it just needs 2 or 3 players to make it super special especially when you consider our injuries

SY4 totally agree mate
Ramsey back next week :-) Ozil smiling the Ox looking like he has really come of age and Sanogo able to share the load and give Giroud a breather as and when, might just be a good season after all mate

I know this isn't Friends Reunited or that poxy LOL but I would like to ask this if the Eds will allow. Who on here came or comes from Islington.? I use to live in Wallace Road N.1 and before that I lived in Highbury Grove N.5 until we moved 12 years ago to Northampton, don't ask why I know, it's the land of 6 fingers on each hand, LOL.

with 10 games to go and 7 points behind the leaders it seems pretty gloomy. I wouldn't count the game in hand as 3 points in the bag (Swansea midweek, squished between Chelsea & City). to lead most of the season and bottle it again in Feb has got to be the AW trademark.

but enough of the doom mongering. we are in the FA semi finals and could be in the quarter finals of the CL.

even with Spurs Chelsea and City to play next & the postponed Swansea match being reschedule to effectively destroy the week long rest between Chelsea and city. we should really be able to get something from this season.

time for AW's second trademark move, Season Revival in march.

he needs to get past march with as little damage as possible. if we draw against Chelsea & City we can still have an outside chance.

Before the start of the season I thought if we could get third, and be a lot closer points wise to the eventual winners, and win the f.a cup, I'd have taken that.
Third is indeed frustrating when you have been top for large periods of the season, but the majority of us probably have been waiting for the annual apple crumble.

As far as the champions league is concerned. Getting knocked out over two legs against Bayer Munich is no humiliation. Not saying we go there with a weakened team. We should go there and give it all we got, but let's get this 9 years monkey of our back, and the best way of doing that is the f.a cup.

Great result yesterday, hopefully it will give us confidence for the run in. If we avoid City in the draw, then there is every chance of reaching the final. We can bring a few players back against Bayern and give it a go, although I think it will be a tough night. After the weekend matches, I am in a far more positive mood for the match against the Toot. They appear to have a lost Kaboul to suspension and Dawson to injury for the match against us. They have a difficult tie at home to Benfica on Thursday, with little time to prepare for the derby. They could easily go into the derby low in confidence, fatigues and with a host of injuries. We should have everyone back for the remaining matches of the season, bar long term casualties, Abu Diaby, Walcott & Wilshere. let's get behind the team and give them the support they need. Hopefully, Chelsea & Man City will suffer from competing on so many fronts, whilst Liverpool's small squad may be exposed.

Arsenal should beat Tottenham next week, we have extra days to rest and they have many injury woes, + we have Ramsey back, we really need to beat Chelsea ( wengers 1,000th game ) and beat City .actually Spurs and Everton as well if we are to have a chance. I would settle for winning the F A Cup and 3rd place

Question for the Eds (or anybody).

Have recently heard, that the winners of this years Europa League automatically qualify for entry into next season Champs League (qualifying stage).

So, if an English team win the Europa League, does that effect the team's who finish in top 4 this season?

(For example, Spurs win Europa this season, so only top 3 in English Prem qualify for CL next season)

{Ed003's Note - It's next years Europa league winners that gain a place in the champions league dg.}

Thank's 003, much obliged to you, sir.
