At the risk of being presumptive Arsene has earned the right to decide his future when he wants to. My only criticism of him is his urge to gamble on unpolished gems when he should just buy a tried and tested diamond.

What if he decides he wants 10 more years.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hes staying for one more season G62 then he leaves, he is only doing next season as a favour to the board as he wanted to leave at the end of this campaign mate..

09 Mar 2016 23:18:52
Id be amazed if stayed after the end of 2016/ 2017 season . as manager anyway, I could see him in an advisory role for the club, but as a manager NO.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2016 07:02:21
If Wenger decides he wants 10 more years I think I will go into the rope with noose making business.
There would be at least 50,000 customers that attend the home games just for starters then getting on for 30 million worldwide. 😂.

Looks like we're becoming a permanent fixture on BT this month Spurs Saturday, Hull Tuesday, Watford Sunday, Barcelona Wednesday and Everton Saturday.

{Ed025's Note - it should be on UK GOLD...when you were good.. :)

09 Mar 2016 21:50:56

09 Mar 2016 23:20:03
Not sure of this, but it always seems to me that we don't win so many games when we are on BT, dumb I know, but I always get that impression.

10 Mar 2016 05:53:10
Banbury, you'll be wearing a tin hat next.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2016 08:26:34
Its because of the early or late kick off times mate we don't like them, we're always at out brilliant best when BT show 3pm kick offs live :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 15:08:56
Ok I put this to you. If someone said if Wenger's signs a new 5 year deal to see out his career and it guarantees champions league last 16 each yr. But you will not win that or the premier league during that time. But fa and league cups possible.

Would you take it or roll the dice with change guys? Interested to know your thoughts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Mar 2016 21:23:01
Good question Derby,
Nope, I would definitely want another manager.

Whilst I'm very happy we are moving in the right direction with 2 successive FA Cup's, we really need to step up another level.

People don't talk about Barcelona because they win The Copa Del Rey, no it's because they win La Liga and Champs League.

We need to start winning Prem League now.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 21:42:38
If it guaranteed the FA cup and league cup double for 5 years running but meant yet another 5 years without a title challenge I'd say thanks but no more of this nonsense thanks very much Arsene me old chuck.
Unless Leicester change that this season the premier league winners list is a very small list of 5 clubs where as the fa cup list includes Cardiff Sunderland Southampton Wimbledon Wigan and even spurs and the league cup Luton Norwich Swindon Doncaster and spurs again, says it all really
OK I made Doncaster up but if they'd wanted to I'm sure they could have won the milk cup at some point if they'd really wanted to.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 21:54:49
No thank you. I think this club should be aiming to try and join the top table.

09 Mar 2016 22:08:27
What Leicester Steve? Do you think they'd have us mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 23:20:59
Nope, that shows absolutely NO progress IMO.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 18:37:58
Would my fellow gooners be happy for Wenger to sign a new contract if he gave in and signed a whole new spine for the team, or would you still want a change of manager?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Mar 2016 19:13:50
Good question 54, ideally I'd love Arsene to do what you suggest and finish next season on top of the pile with 83 points + but that is highly unlikely to happen.
I don't think Arsene wants a new contract but even if he does he should earn it by delivering a title after 12 years without coming even close.
I want change and if Arsene can't deliver that change within this contract surely its time to give someone else a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 19:10:25
Anyone who wants him to sign another contract, is saying it from sentiment not practicality. he's too old to sign another contract and when people get as old they will find out why. i'm ten years younger and i'm finding that I can't do things physicaly the same but mentally as well but I think I can. Why do people retire because they are not able to achieve what they used too, fact. Old age, old ideas.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats a bit harsh steve you old ageist you, i dont think you can blame it on his age mate, hes not a senile old ditherer who hobbles about on a stick like your making out..

09 Mar 2016 19:22:44
I think he would sign a new contract because arsenal is his life. I'm really not sure whether I want him to leave or not because I love his football philosophy and I wouldn't want our style to change but on the other hand I want trophies.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 19:39:01
Age isn't his issue stubborness and not needing to prove himself to anyone are. I don't care who you are if your unsackable and you know it you have got to lose your edge.
The Arsene of 96 would have wasted no time in shifting out Arteta flamini and Rosicky and Theo would have lasted about as long as Paul Merson under a hungry eager to prove himself Arsene Wenger.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 19:41:05
why would he sign any players to replace the spine he hasn't been willing to do so in the past. If there is a better candidate available get rid of him if not keep him until there is. By the way we finally saw a few cracks from outside the box yesterday that i like to see.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 20:46:51
Gunner you definitely get more stubbourn with age. Peoples brains slow down, they aren't open to new ideas, get stuck in their ways, its all connected.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 20:50:54
Ed no he isn't senile and i'm not age ist. Why do people not play football or any sport except dominoes in their 60s. Is dominoes a sport? Why can't my mother in law not use a computer and my 3 year old grand daughter can. Because ones current and the other is behind the times. i'm afraid mr wenger is in my mother in laws category.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im approaching 60 steve, play tennis and golf and not ready for the old folks home yet mate, all im saying is that some 60 yr olds are fitter than some guys i know in their 30,s and also sharper in the brain department...its about the individual and its wrong to band them all together imo..

09 Mar 2016 21:57:38
I play golf ed because I can't run no farther than the half way line or else i'm knackered. Even golfers pack in when they are fifty and go on the wrinklies tour.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we are not asking arsene to play steve..mind you he would probably be better than theo.. :)

09 Mar 2016 22:01:11
Ed why didn't tom watson bless his little cotton sox, not win the open four years ago, old age caught up with him. He didn't use his head on the last hole and lost his bottle.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree on that one steve, but only as much as westwood who was in a similar situation, its not about the age mate..its the individual imo..

09 Mar 2016 22:14:33
Westwood ed can't putt that's why he won't win a major.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its lack of bottle for me steve..plss a piss poor short game mate..

09 Mar 2016 23:23:06
Have to disagree there Steve, My Mother is 81 and she is very open minded and quite fair in her decision making.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2016 00:54:16
Banbury, can she manage arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 22:32:47
Ed25,

Come on mate that guy Jupp Heynckes was a right coffin dodging senile old goat at 68, jeez he could only manage the treble at that age with a team playing piss poor football.

Mind you he was crap at golf. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - love it red dog..

10 Mar 2016 13:09:11
For every successfull over sixty five year old manager at the top level you name I will name two.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2016 16:36:25
In thr the last five years by the way. My point has always been. The oldies have been overtaken.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 10:30:50
How is Campbell not our first choice. Thought last couple of games he has been excellent. Given the number of minutes he actually plays his goals, assists and key pass stats must be pretty good.

Loving his Ozil-esq left foot passes.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

09 Mar 2016 12:01:32
I wasn't that keen in Campbell before injuries forced him to play but he's taken his chance well and way outperfored Theo and Ox consistently and deserves to be first choice on the right.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 12:51:30
Nice player, doesn't score though and we need goals. Probably why Ramsay will play ahead of him on the wing.

Missing Cazorla, if not our MVP definitely unsung hero. I am leaning MVP.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 13:19:09
I agree, Campbell has done well.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 13:36:33
Well it feels like we're missing him rooster. Campbell just needed time and he's got it and he's proving himself.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 13:36:52
Nice player and in all honesty probably increased his resale value. can't knock the lad just don't yet see him being good enoughcto tie a place down. Much improved though.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 14:59:09
He's still improving though Steve . Defo worth having a longer look.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 15:04:36
Unless he gets a run of starts I think he will be off in the summer he's not a kid anymore and other clubs will have been impressed by what they've seen from him at premier league level.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 15:23:27
Niether is Walcott or the ox we have three players in that possition who I can't pick from either way. The only thing why I like Campbell more in some respects is that he keeps improving whilst the ox and ballsnot keep flattering to deceive.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 15:45:48
I agree Sanogo Campbell delivers a shift every game and gets back to help out much like Sanchez does so contibutes even when not at him best as to be fair so does Danny, while Ox gets lost and Theo does more disappearing acts than Dynamo.
Is it coincidence that the 2 which have been part of the squad longest offer the least?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 16:13:43
I like Danny welbeck . him and Joel have drive and I think it's the ox and Walcott to go for me!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 19:42:31
This is where Wenger confuses me he gives Sanogo a chance in the team two years ago and he is absolutely awful yet it takes him three years to give campbell a chance. I could see within 10 minutes Sanogo sucked.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 20:52:04
Darren. Old age and stubbourness.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 07:27:24
Some of our loan players played last night, Sanago saw red, and Maitland-Niles took down Wellington for a last minute penalty. A mate from Birmingham has told me Jon Toral has been in decent form too.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Mar 2016 14:33:50
Sanogo the dirty boy. Tut tut.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 07:26:50
Excellent result without question

You have to wonder what goes on with us, the injuries we get are crazy, the per one can't be helped but the other two. why do we get this many EVERY season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Mar 2016 18:56:05
Banners I be leave Wenger gets them to peek fitness, like thoroughbred race horses, that the slightest pull, results in injury.
I had a race horse and it was forever breaking down, I also had a riding pony for my daughter and that never went lame, never got any speed up to pull anything.
.
On another mater does anybody think Chelsea going out last night is a good thing. Hopefully their might really push for forth spot, with leics and spuds to play, may help us out.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 06:52:41
Solid performance and a good win last night. Special mention for Chambers and Monreal, who performed really well at centre back. Chambers is clearly going to be a centre back, as he seems to struggle at right back, where he looks worse than when he arrived. I prefer Gibbs's mobility at left back, but Monreal is a decent option and can perform adequately as a 5th centre back. Wenger's decision to allow Debuchy to go on loan and leave us with only 7 defenders is looking poor. The two youngsters Iwobi and Reinne-Adelaide look to have a very promising future.

Finally, the Arsenal fans who displayed the banner against Wenger should be ashamed of themselves. Wenger stayed with us during the stadium financing difficulties, when he could have taken a job at a top club. He has brought success to the club, including trophies for the last two seasons. It isn't easy to win the PL or the CL, however he has delivered last 16 CL football for years. We all get frustrated at times, particularly this season when teams outside of the big teams are challenging for the title. However, I believe Tottenham will finish either 3rd or 4th, whilst Leicester will probably win the league, but neither team will press on next season, when Man City have Guardiola, Chelsea will be back up with the big boys, Liverpool may progress under Klopp and Man U may have Mourinho.

We will miss Wenger when he has gone and at present with the exception of Mourinho (some fans may disagree) , there are few managers available who could match Wenger, never mind take us to the next level. Guardiola would have been my choice, followed by Ancelloti. So let's get behind Wenger and the team, win the FA Cup and try and finish 2nd in the league. I believe, with all the injuries, we can't catch Leicester, although it isn't impossible, but it would mean at least winning all 5 remaining home matches and winning 3 of the 4 away matches and a draw. Leicester will drop points, their final 3 matches are difficult and pressure may affect them in other matches.

Believable7 Unbelievable6

{Ed025's Note - good post that RG..

09 Mar 2016 07:42:50
He didn't stay to do us a favour. He enjoyed the challenge rather than go real Madrid or a top club and be out after a few years if there's no trophies. I admire the job he's done but maybe that is the best jobs for him. Buying cheap and bringing players through. Ideal at Monaco now he is.

Agree5 Disagree5

why should they be ashamed, these supporters travel all over europe to follow arsenal.

Those of you that continually criticise Wenger. Please tell us which manager, who realistically would be or is available and why they would bring more success than Wenger.

Agree1 Disagree7

09 Mar 2016 11:55:08
Wasn't Arsene right at the forefront of our move from Highbury to the Emirates? Didn't he have a very big say in design and exactly how he thought the new stadium should be and what it should and shouldn't have?
He could hardly do all that and leg leaving someone else to the do the donkey work while he enjoyed the legacy could he :-)
Arsene Wenger has been magnificent for Arsenal football club but never forget for a moment how magnificent Arsenal football club have been for Arsene Wenger.
He has enjoyed fantastic wages while fans have been asked to pay more and more and to accept less and less to make his legacy happen, he is as mourinho pointed out the only totally unaccountable mangager in English and probably world football.
This has not been a one way street where Arsene Wenger came in as a big shot high achieving manager who accepted a pittance to take us from no where to the very top of the league.
This has been a fantastic relationship both ways and both club and manager have much to be grateful for from the other.
Without Arsene Wenger its highly likely there would not have been the invincibles but without Arsenal its just as likely the question would very much still be Arsene who?

Agree5 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 13:28:06
As long as there was no swearing or stupid threat, I see no problem. I thought the banner was very polite and appriciative of wengers job. He says he can't hear the fans, or doesn't listen to fans opinions, so maybe they thought he might see their opinion.

Agree4 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 13:29:37
If he won the league he would get a banner saying so, that would be ok though.

Agree3 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 14:49:04
Realistically bring us more success RG? How long you got mate :-)
Available! That's the new saftey word at Arsenal replacing the old but tired favourites of The stadium or our Injuries being worse than everyone else's and not forgetting of course The big boys have more money than us as to why we never improve in the title race or champions league.
No top people Available to play for or Manage Arsenal football club! Are you sure RG?
Available seems to me to just be Arsenes latest in a very long ever expanding list of excuses for our underachievement that people have grabbed onto, successful clubs make the right players or managers they want available hence they are successful.

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Mar 2016 16:18:10
gunner 62 - Kindly name the available or at least possibly likely to be available managers, rather than duck the question with an inane response. My only suggestion is Mourinho, but would the fans want him?

Agree0 Disagree1

09 Mar 2016 18:02:13
Loew Simone Koeman ( the last manger to swap Southampton for north London ain't doing to badly) to name but 3 plus the other credible managers who are to 2016 what Arsene who? was to 1996.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 18:39:35
Why on earth do people think wenger is so hard to be replaced. Mourinho finished above wenger last season, spending less money. Rogers finished above arsenal spending less money, both sacked since by the way. Ranieri will finish above wenger, spending less money. Pochitino may finish above wenger in his first full season. We are not progessing from year to year in the league and champions league. He constantly get outfoxed by younger managers. he's been at arsenal 20 years and in the last ten managers have won the league and been sacked, top teams change their managers to GET success. If it is good enough for real, barca, chelski, man city, bayern, psg, man u, borussia dortmund, athletico madrid, juventus, inter, ac and monaco to change their managers and most still get success, why will we not, when we aren't getting it in the first place.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 19:26:55
Ian Atkinson did a great job at Southampton getting back to back promotions but struggled to take them on in the premier league and was harshly sacked to make way for Poch who was poached by Spurs so Southampton found themselves another excellent manager in Koeman to take them on dispite selling most of their best players.
Why change can only be bad for Arsenal I've no idea Steve but we seem the only club to be happy to stand still.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 14:53:35
So people believe there's no one out there that can do a Job for us? Will he close the gates behind him?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 21:02:59
Personally gunner i'm bored with our style, we used to be great to watch but we aren't now. Its all too slow and deliberate, we let top teams dominate us and we don't dominate smaller teams like we used to. I just think its all stale now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - maybe the players are too old.. :)

08 Mar 2016 23:45:40
Hypothetical question here. Hoping the Eds can help (great work you do on that note btw - many thanks) .
Fans please help and/ or feel free to lament what might have been.
The yellow Dier got on Saturday was his ninth of the season, meaning he is one more yellow off a two-match ban. Coming back to the one he narrowly avoided getting, since that would have been his tenth, would he have had a red for the remainder of the derby and then a subsequent two-match ban to serve?

Either way, it's still hard see him getting through their next five fixtures without picking up another and the ban. Could hit the Spuds hard. Too bad that's likely to mean more to Leicester or even City fans than to us now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he would also have an automatic one match ban for picking up two yellows in one match, so it would have been 3 matches.}

09 Mar 2016 00:10:46
Job done tonight. Saw first half, wow shocking. Listened to radio second and how did we win 4-0 will look myself tomorrow when I get up ( at work) . Still into next round, doesn't matter how just that we are. Hope injuries aren't to bad, aren't we a fragile bunch.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2016 13:33:46
The really sad thing Derby is that if true, its not as bad news as it should be. Ramsey should really be there alongside Ozil as our most influential player, week in week out, but sadly this season, if not quite an Ox and Walcott by going backwards, he hasn't really pushed on despite playing his favored CM role.
