A shout out to Wenger for the way he handled yesterday. He gets criticism for being naive tactically, but he spotted we were getting out fought in the middle. I'm sure there weren't too many singing his praises when he takes Santi off for Flamini, but it worked. And then when Arteta came on we finally started getting hold of it in midfield. Thought he did a good job with very limited options.

09 Nov 2015 22:56:26
Totally agree,
If somebody told me he would bring on Flamini, Arteta and Gibbs in 2nd half, you would think we were defending a lead, not looking for an equaliser.
As you said Ubi, good job with limited options.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2015 00:11:09
Lol yes that's why he done it, I'm sure if everyone was fit the same changes would of been made.

He has done well this year but come on he had no choice but to put those 3 on! He went for experience to get him out of a hole and came up.

Hardly a master stroke!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - There's a smutty wisecrack in there but I better not :-) In fact even that reply has unintentionally carried on the smut!}

10 Nov 2015 02:39:41
I was very impressed with the Gibbs substitution, as he was originally a midfield player and looked quite comfortable. If none of the injured players are back immediately after the intermational break, I would seriously considering startting Gibbs on the left midfield role, switch Sanchez to the right and drop the ineffective Campbell. He can provide good defensive cover for Monreal, as well as making a positive effect offensively.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2015 08:01:59
He may have had little chioce who to bring on but he did chose well who and when to take off, he does some strange things for sure but credit where its do.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2015 08:07:00
RG69 wouldn't talk about moving sanchez to the right around ubi he goes mad when you even suggest it.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2015 09:38:19
I didn't go mad derby, I said it wouldn't happen. And it didn't. But you stick to your dream world matey, you're so much happier there.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2015 08:33:56
He may have had little choice but he could have always thrown in Iwobi who has impressed in pre season and while playing for the under 21's, but instead he got on Gibbs, may not be a master stroke and no one is claiming it was genius or whatever, but choosing Gibbs ahead of Iwobi, and making Flamini rb when he could have brought on Chambers or Gabriel, shows that we still wanted to get something out of the game so moved Arteta centeral with alexis on right. I think it was tactically spot on.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2015 10:55:16
the tactic was changed ubi. who scored? yes gibbs, thank you. campbell was terrible.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2015 11:07:06
Mystifier spurs at home 1 nill down. id be worried if we didn't want something out of the game lol.

Bond,
You have a dirty mind :-)

{Ed007's Note - Depraved has been the better adjective of choice over the years :-)

2 weeks ago I made a comment about Tim Sherwood.
He got sacked.

Today I made a comment about David Moyes.
He's just been sacked.

The power of The Dags.

09 Nov 2015 22:36:21
What's your thoughts on David Cameron Dags?

{Ed025's Note - worst right back i have ever seen.. :)

09 Nov 2015 22:43:12
But what a keeper Ed :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - yeah mate...keeps taking the money off the poor..

09 Nov 2015 22:50:51
Well, I like throwing eggs at David Cameron.

Brick shaped eggs, made of brick.

But king of assists to the rich and poacher supreme in and around the NHS.

hes dodgy at the back. i wouldn't bank on him.

10 Nov 2015 15:42:49
Good mates with Sol Campbell these days.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 13:53:18
I must say neville is becoming quite a pundit, just because he was proved wrong about the midfield duo of carzola and coquelin, and carzola has one bad game he is at him, jesus the punditry these days owen, hargreaves, carr all get on my nerves, had a little respect for neveille well that's gone out of the window as well.

Did u see the class of 92. Salford city. There player has joined manu and now plays for there reserves. Salford manager didn't rate him haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 17:28:15
What he originally said was we couldn't win the league with those two player, who i rate, without flexibility, there and i agree with him, but like me at the end of the season, he will becthe first to admit he was wrong.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 19:17:05
I said same thing about the pairing. We all forget how many goals and assists cazorla got as a 10. The guy was in great form. I prefer him further up.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 19:47:37
Neville is still a good pundit, him and Carra.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - both very good dags..

09 Nov 2015 21:00:30
"Remi Garde likes his teams to play from the back, play good football and give youngsters a chance. All of the things that Villa don't need". I blooming love Gary Neville!

Ed,

Have you seen the posts on here about us nicking Stonesy?

Not a rumour as such but how would my fellow Gooners feel if we made a strong move for John Stones in January or perhaps wait til end of season? I got to say he ticks the boxes for pace, control and awareness of danger. Young lad with a lot of potential imo. Anyhow joint top with £ity and in need of this 2 week break to re-charge and go again for the title! COYG!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Nov 2015 16:37:16
Very good defender, young and I'd be very happy to have him at Arsenal. BUT, it's never going to happen since it would require a high transfer fee and I think Wenger is happy with our defenders - including Gabriel, who I believe will soon enough take Per's place in the 11. To be fair, I'd feel sorry for Gabriel if we went and spent loads of money on a starting CB.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 18:01:01
Arsene would never pay 40+ million for a defender but I'd love us to get him, Gabriel Kos and Stones? Quality by the quater dozen and I'd have no problem with rotating them or even playing all 3 if Le Coq was injured.
Cech
Gab Stones Kos
Belerin Ramsey Caz Moreal
Sanchez Ozil
Walcott
I've seen worse line ups.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 17:05:51
I'd be chuffed if John stones signed. just to piss eds off haha. José wanted him badly didn't he. Top player.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he is a top player derby and is still improving mate, if he does leave us (which is likely) i would love him to go to arsenal though..

10 Nov 2015 07:07:37
The thing is though if you want the best players then you got to pay for the best players. We have scrimped and saved since the move to the Emirates and now I feel the budget is and can be made available. Surely if the best home talent is out there it needs to snapped up and Arsenal should be having a look at players like Stones. Christ we payed £16m for chambers who in time will develop into a quality player. pay the asking price this guy is future England captain material with years ahead of him. imo it's the missing link with perhaps another out n out striker like Higuain. i have nothing against Gabriel as I feel depth and back up is needed as it's every year we are in the mix for a title push or CL run. We pay top dollar at the turnstiles so let's see top dollar on the pitch. Ed25 you're right Stones is a gem! ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2015 08:08:18
when stones leaves it will be for £50mill what you think eds?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - slightly less would be my guess derby, we would love to keep him but this is the real world and any bid over £30m would be considered imo mate..

10 Nov 2015 11:24:39
they were offered more last summer if i'm correct ed? why did they turn it down, if not to accept more?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No they weren't.}

09 Nov 2015 14:14:17
i know ubi shot it down as he always does with my ideas. but is playing sanchez on the right now the answer will we get ramsey ox back etc?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Nov 2015 15:12:59
Sanchez needs a break IMO as covered below but if he was 100% I'd say yes mate, for me its Gibbs or Campbell with Sanchez right or left depending which one you pick, I'd have gone Gibbs v Swansea before the game simply because he's been a squad regular waiting his chance plus he's far better at attacking than defending but Campbell did well in the Swansea game too.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 15:40:02
Think Sanchez prefers left so he can come inside.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 16:40:59
I like the idea of playing Campbell atleast for a couple more games because he hasn't had many chances in the starting 11 and I'd like to see him play a few games before I rate or dismiss him. Would you not also say Campbell is far better at attacking than defending G62?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 17:47:20
I'd definitely go along with that perfect :-)
I've no problem with Campbell having a fair chance and personally I thought yesterday he was as good as most out there, like I say I'd rest Sanchez v WBA so probably play Gibbs left and Campbell right.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 16:39:01
We will have at least a couple of our players back to fill that in, Ramsey, OX, theo should be back.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 11:38:55
We were very lucky to get the draw yesterday but saying that giroud should of put at least 1 chance away.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Nov 2015 14:03:07
We played extremely poorly but in the end I think we were unlucky not to steal the win.

Agree0 Disagree1

09 Nov 2015 15:37:26
No one is more critical than me but we weren't lucky at all just below par and lacklustre. But definitely not lucky.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 16:45:05
Not lucky at all. For all their pressure, Sp*rs didn't make that many chances or hit the woodwork or anything, although they dominated us largely, so we weren't lucky. We on the other hand, hit the bar, missed atleast two chances that should be hitting the back of the net as well as a couple other half chances which is why I feel like we could have stolen that game in the second half.

I guess it's a good sign that we can play so badly yet still have chances to score.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 10:45:15
We have won 5 of our 6 away games this season.
Impressive.

09 Nov 2015 10:00:46
hate to say it spurs top4? looks very realistic. : (.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Nov 2015 10:08:56
Agreed.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 10:16:50
So what you are really trying to say is you want to add Lloris, Delli Ali and Kane to your army of 300? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 11:14:33
No disrespect to Leicester but I don't see them staying the course, Chelsea are gone for this season and Klopp still has a lot to sort out before Liverpool are ready ( next season for him and them IMO) , I'd say its tottenhams to lose this season.
I just wish they'd hurry up and sack Poch because he's going to make them a right pain if he sticks around much longer but luckily for us they'll get bored of him by next summer especially with Brendan Rogers being available and they wouldn't want to miss out on him would they? Well let's hope not :-)

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Nov 2015 11:34:40
Rumour has it Poochie will by sacked and replaced by David Moyes :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 11:49:11
i rate all three dags. i bigged up kane early on last year if you read back on the search option and i got shot down by a lot of people.

people also said ospina is better than loris, no chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 12:29:16
I know mate I remember, fair play to you.
Think your boy Bony is having a mare though.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 19:18:54
He just can't stay fit dags. Malaria and his hammies. He's caught it off aguero lol. There seems to me many muscler injuries around.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 19:20:14
And he isn't an off the bench player dags. He needs to be the starter his body shape needs it I think. I do like the look of there young striker. Great attitude strange they didn't bring him straight on when bony went off.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 19:50:41
Derby, his biggest problem is he has legs like tree trunks.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 00:38:05
It was mentioned further down about Sanchez looking tired.

He has World Cup qualifiers on 12th and 17th November against Columbia at home and Uruguay away so he won't be getting any rest anytime soon.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

09 Nov 2015 08:07:24
He is Red, the intensity he plays at is like no other. do not be surprised if he ends up injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 08:36:06
Bearing in mind he had that niggle before he went away last time it's difficult to know if he still has that.

The positive side is that's he a tough as nails South American and that soft lad Henry played every game in the invincible year. ;-)

We need Ramsey, Bellerin, Walcott and Chamberlain back asap.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 08:55:52
I know its a big call but I'd leave him out v West brom simply because if we don't rest him for just 1 game we could well lose him for 10 because of over playing.
I know Arsene would get slaughtered if we rest Sanchez and lost or even drew but people need to accept if its the right decision now it will still be right what ever the result at WBA.
If we can't cope for 1 game without him we might as well write off the season if he does pick up an injury or suspension.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 09:51:53
Agree,
Get a few more bodies back, than give him a rest.
Once Ox, Rambo and Theo are back, we have more options and can shift people around.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 10:11:45
62 I agree but only if we get some others back. I don't understand why he doesn't sub him more often when a game is done and dusted

He does need a rest for sure

And yes I agree the boy is as hard as nails.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 10:56:55
Ramsey shouldn't have played v Watford but did and short term gain became long term loss, Kos came back from the world cup injured but we played him in the champions league qualification games and lost him for 4 months let's not do it again with Sanchez.
Personally I wouldn't play him v West brom no matter what a stitch in time and all that jazz, being wise after the event is 4th place trophy stuff, sometimes when running a marathon you need to be prepared to lose a few yards if necessary to make sure you stay out of trouble and don't get tripped up in the pack.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 11:23:04
The snag 62 is who do we play wide left to maintain balance, do we really want Ozil out there, does that mean Cazorla up to the 10 role and Arteta next to Coquelin.

Welbeck is his natural replacement but he's not back until at least January.

It's a difficult call but if we can't beat the likes of WBA, Norwich etc without him then it's pretty poor but we are somewhat hamstrung for a few more months. He does look like he needs a rest or to start hitting the back of the net. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 11:38:14
Damn fine post G62, your analogies are always on track.

Agree with Red Dog though, if fully fit we have an abundance of talent on RW but our LW is a bit light.

So, LW and DM needs to be looked at in January or Summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 12:15:04
I'm no football manager and there's a very good reason for that :-) but personally I'd do what needed to be done to rest him be it Ozil outwide where I hate seeing him wasted but for 1 game for the good of the team I'd do it or Santi left and bring in Flamtetta ( I know but desperate times call for desperate measures :-) or give Gibbs a go.
He will probably come back fine and go the entire season injury free and its a fuss over nothing but personally I would rest him as aa belt and braces measure aposed to having pants pulled down again through playing players who aren't quite 100%.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 15:27:08
Totally agree Dags cover/competition is needed for DM a top wide player plus the best striker our money can buy, Scotty Parker Stewart Downing and Peter Crouch it is then :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2015 15:41:29
That's absurd G62,

No Joey Barton? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2015 05:54:28
Rest Sanchez and play Gibbs left wing for a full game. He's not near sanchez's level but I don't think we should rely on Sanchez for every game and as a few have said before, risk him getting a long term injury. Hell, I'd even go as far as to give Sanchez a full week off and pay for him to go to butlins in Bognor Regis just to make sure he gets a break!
