Another post about our injuries.

Read an article today, that because Wenger likes Arsenal to play 'pure' football, we do a lot of training with the ball.

He likes them to play 'pass and move', even in training.

This means that the players don't do a lot of weights training and strength and conditioning training.

Maybe this is our downfall?

Admit it dags. Unless you stop doing all the kinky stuff with the players on match day eve the injuries will never go away

Agree0 Disagree0

A team like Arsenal should not have a problem like this! We need changes in player management and changes in regimes so our players are always in prime physical condition. This was something Wenger seems to be willing to do back ~10 years ago.
I love the guy and love what he once achieved for the club and I wish and wished he would succeed again and prove he can still do it. But a lot of us I think are realising this isn't going to be the case, yes he is building a team and he seems to have plans for it but he and the rest of the training staff don't seem to be managing the team and the players properly. Not only are the tactics bad, but the player management and regimes also seem to be lacking.
We have a very good squad for someone to inherit and I think and hope it is passed on to someone else to tinker with.

Agree0 Disagree0

A friend who is a sports physio, thought the players at Arsenal are not conditioned properly. With Ozil & possibly Koscielny out after the internationals, the inuries have been continual this season. I have a feeling that Koscielny's achilles problem needs rest, as it has been mentioned virtually since the start of the season. Against Hull we are without Chambers who is suspended, so We have one centre back. The back four could be Bellerin, Mertesacker, Monreal & Gibbs, assuming no more defensive injuries. Can we bring Jenkinson back from his loan spell?

Reet,

My secret is out :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair Kos has been carrying an injury since game one and it was only a matter of time.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's the work of the devil, when he gets bored he sticks his finger out like these godly figures do and strikes an arsenal player down with a medium term ailment

Agree0 Disagree0

George Dobson. . . our next Tony Adams!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed, he looks class

Gibbs, Ox, Chambers, Welbeck and Wilshere on England duty.

I watched the game hiding behind the sofa.

Would you swap Mesut Ozil for Yohan Cabaye and £25m?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No.
I'd sell others ahead of Ozil. Cabaye would be a quality signing tho. Personally I think he is perfect to what we need. He can play a deep role in midfield and his passing is top drawer. He's Arteta but with legs anda bit more vision.

Agree0 Disagree0

How much did newcastle quote us for cabaye after our bid? Wasnt our bid 8million?

To answer Ed002's very good question from this morning.

I would sell>

Arteta £3m
Podolski £9m
Campbell £8m
Sanogo £7m

I would buy>

Schneiderlin £25m
(Or Wanyama £13m)
Ashley Williams £8m

Sorted.
PS, major miss not signing Diame for a meagre £3.5m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Oct 2014 01:39:31
Sanogo 7 million??
Think you are getting your yayas mixed up :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Oct 2014 07:04:47
Lol Reet,

I'm being optimistic :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Diame 3.5 Song on loan wouldn't exactly have made us weaker or broke the bank.
But to be fair they might have blocked the progress of Arteta and Flamini :-)that would make sense

Approx 42.5m. Approx 140k a week. 3 month lay off and I'm ashamed to admit I'm struggling to give a fiddlers ****.

Seen a scary suggestion on here that our wage bill is higher than Chelski. Anyone shed a light on where that info came from? If true, board and management deserve shooting, not sacking!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Oct 2014 20:06:59
They did off load Luiz, Lampard, Ba, Torres, Cole, Eto and have 25 other players out on loan for whom wages are being paid by those respective clubs.

Guess that may have put a little dent in their wage bill.

Agree0 Disagree0

Deffo. When you name them out, their ridiculously average players earned more than ours. They've just had a more effective sweep than us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Uh Ulster go on 442 website and look for the article about Ozil the introvert, saves me the hassle

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Oct 2014 23:14:02
Ulster Gunner, u're wrong. Only tope earners @ Chelsea are Hazard, Cesc and maybe Terry and Cech, other first team players earn far lower than the decidedly average Arsenal players. Podolski on 110k? that says it all when even Mata was on 70k! Schurlle, Willian, Oscar, Matic, Azpi, etc are on quite little wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Oct 2014 01:41:15
Ed002 told on the Liverpool page
Chelsea are fourth arsenal are third

Agree0 Disagree0

Saves you the hassle of writing that difficult second sentence eh saint? Do me a favour and look up the website www.urepovmeansnufin2me.com saves me the hassle.

Is that an actual stat Celestyn? "are on quite little wages"?

That's certainly told me off. How can you compete when the mans done his homework? You wanna take a look at the above website also my friend.

{Ed002's Note - I would rather you all play nice at the moment.}

There is some really bad juju ill luck voodoo hex thing going on at Arsenal right now.

Everyone needs to go out into the street. Find a black Cat. Beat it to death with a rabbits foot. Stuff it with four leaf clovers and salt, then throw it over your right shoulder.

It's an emergency!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You've got to laugh or you'd certainly cry :-)
Without playing the blame game there has to be a reason why so many so often and for so long, its guess work and hear say from us
Seriously we should bring in some experts to take a look at all and how we do it to find an answer and pay £1 million to the expert who finds the solution, cheap at half the price

Agree0 Disagree0

Something needs done mate. Heard the people of Palestine are considering having a whip round for us and Lenny Henry n Bono have been spotted outside the emirates crying into cameras

As we are lightening the mood today here is one for everyone to think about pick your Arsenal's worst 11 players who played in the premiership from Goal keeper, defenders, midfield and forward. Mine would be

GK: Richard Wright
Defenders: Luzhny, Silvestre, Stepanov, Squillaci
Midfield: Denilson, Inamato, Bischoff, Mendez
Forward: Jeffers, Diawara

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - And I will keep this one on the Banter page as a special treat.}

By the way I meant premiership era. So anyone who played during this time in any competition

Agree0 Disagree0

Id definitely have Almunia in goal and swap Denilson for Wilshere
Only kidding Jack fans :-) that was an ever so friendly pull of the pig tails no more, promise :-)

Hi Gooners

Bad News! Koscielny has returned from France National team. Injury on both Achilles. He will under go further scan at Arsenal.

Its really strange, AW sells TV, Sagna, jeinkinson, miquel and buys debuchy and chambers. Replace 4 players with 2. What was he thinking? I know what will he do play Flamini as CB. Both CBs without any real pace or yes chambers at CB, but then bellarin at RB or better Ramsey (no he is injured too. )

Why not buy a CB and Defensive Midfielder in summer instead of saying we lack physicallity in midfield.

hey ed what is the status of Diaby? has he fully recovered or again injured?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Diaby is fit.}

He didn't sell Sagna either!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pure blindness from Wenger IMO

Say it again why put Jenks out on loan

mad man

Agree0 Disagree0

I honestly believe Jenks was getting a season out on loan to put himself in the shop window for the highest bidder

Im up for an Arsene free day if all other Arsenal fans are?
I say Arsenal fans because we all know CTR bless his nylon socks will want to goad people back onto the subject if he can :-)
Love you really Chris but even you try to avoid you sometimes mate if your honest

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - As you have all been pretty good recently and seem to have exhausted yourselves regarding feeling hard done by, try answering this:

If I was Arsenal manager with the current squad and no money, who would I sell to buy to improve the team?

Remember you need continuity, so perhaps only a little tinkering is required.}

09 Oct 2014 08:53:09
In lieu of one of Dags jokes with Walcotts return on the horizon and Ozil now out along with Giroud and saying Flamini was our go to DM for a little longer, who would you like to see as our front five,

A) Sanchez, Welbeck, Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshere

B) Sanchez, Welbeck, Chamberlain, Cazorla, Ramsey

C) Campbell, Welbeck, Sanchez, Cazorla, Chamberlain

D) Cazorla, Welbeck, Sanchez, Chamberlain, Wilshere

E) another set up of your own making, if so who?

Just a quickie before I go work.

I think I have the Tombola Virus.

My eyes keep looking down and my balls are a funny colour.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002
Ozil as I feel maybe the demands of premier league not suited to his game

Arteta aging and too slow

Podolski if you are not giving him game time 100,000 per week to free up

and a few of our fringe players that I feel won't make it,

Coquelin, Riyaichi

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Bringing in?}

09 Oct 2014 09:40:56
Lol g62, nobody wants to play with me 😭

Agree0 Disagree0

Good Question Ed.
With the current squad last summer and no money?
I'd have kept Jenks
Brought back Ashley Cole to share/support/compete with Gibbs and Monreal, not popular but the grown up thing to do.
Signed Alex Song on a/seasons loan/ review at the end of the season.
Brought in Micah Richards on a years loan and said its up to you to make it a permanent move
I would have sold Podolski to fund the wages of Song/Cole/Richards
I would have had a formation A B and C and made sure that every player knew their role within it and what I expected of them 100%.
I would explain that we were not yet good enough to win the biggest prizes and have the luxury of playing the way I or they might prefer to play and until that day arrived I would pick a team/tactics to get the results to win the big prizes.
I would also say I don't care if you cost 50 mil or 50p your name is Smith or Smithelinio I will pick the team I think is best for the job and its up to you to make it difficult for me to leave you out of it.
At the end of the season any player who's not happy I will gladly sell you if the right offer is made and wish you all the best at your new club while I and the club go forward with committed players who were up to the job and were happy to prove it in an Arsenal shirt

Agree0 Disagree0

Looking forward to January, I would break the mould and actually use this time to improve the squad - even with inflated prices. (Will try and be realistic)

Podolski - Out, wages too high and although I love his love for the club, he doesn't turn up

Campbell - Out, is obvious Wenger isn't interested in him so he can go, hopefully for a tidy little fee.

Miyachi - Clear he also doesn't have a future, kick him out.

Gnabry - Loan - we have players covered for his position I believe - baring Injuries

Sanogo - With Giroud coming back he also needs a loan.

Jenkinson - If the loan has an option, bring him back

In - Schar/Howedes - hopefully can be a lower budget (may be cup tied but we have no choice)

In - Lars Bender - I would choose him over most as he can also distribute the ball well, he may be more of a box to box than his brother Sven but he has the qualities to hold our mid together.

Financially that's as far as I can see us going. Would love to bring in Reus - but who wouldn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Oct 2014 11:27:30
I'd see if Juve were interested in an Ozil and Podolski swap deal for Paul Pogba. Use their wages to pay him too.

Job done.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Rob afc. For the players leaving, see Robbie afc above. I would also sell Flamini.

Then players I would bring in or try to bring in at least:
Micah Richards (loan)
Ashley Williams (buy)
Khedira (seems likely since Madrid wouldn't want to lose him for nothing end of season)
William Carvalho (buy)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 no replacement directly for Ozil we have Jack, santi and even rosicky to fill his void.

Artea's replacement Sven Bender

The money from Ozil and fringe players a top class centre defender to compete with Per and kos so

Mat Hummels(in place of Pers infact)

and a Left midfielder/attacker Marco Reus

Money well spent boss?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would think so.}

Sell podolski, Campbell Arteta
Sign Cabaye

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Oct 2014 13:14:43
If I was going to take a "this is what I want" approach like Shayne (The Fifa Career Mode approach)

Sell Podolski,coquelin,arteta,mert,monreal,sanogo,campbell,diaby

Buy
Reus,Hummels,Varane,Carvalho,Some up and coming left back (Alex Telles) etc.

I think we all want Reus, we would all love a DM and we would love 1 or 2 CBs.

Selling Ozil though is the funniest thing I have heard in a while. Never going to happen - Wenger loves him more than his lovechild Cesc and his lovechild2.0 Wilshere.

Enjoying this Post though Ed - bit more lighthearted then doom/gloom

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - When I said sell to buy, that would be the only money you have. You are £100M plus overspent. Rob.}

09 Oct 2014 14:27:43
I know - my earlier post was a bit more realistic!
