Just for you Malaga and Steve
: "So many people say Wenger isn't the manager he was, but football has changed completely, and it's not just unfair to judge him on previous achievements, but stupid.

"He won leagues and cups while breaking even in the transfer market.

"For most of the 20 years he kept Arsenal in the top four, he created a surplus in terms of net spend.

"That is impossible now. How much you spend determines where you finish.

"He won leagues and cups while breaking even in the transfer market"
Robbie Fowler
"If Arsenal are fourth or fifth on wage spending, then that's where they'll finish."

Give it up mate, the battles over the war is either won or lost depending on where you stood on it.
For every positive stat there is a negative one out there somewhere if people want to find and use it.

Let's let the past go all get behind Arsene one last time during his final few weeks and then move forward together.
The past is the the past let's unite our way into the future.

I was just trying to get a bit of banter from the two of them to be honest.

You are right.

With a reported net spend of only £50m available in the summer window, the poor management of the club is evident. On the playing side, down to Wenger, we failed to qualify for this seasons CL and we may well miss out on qualification again. In additon due to poor contract management, not only down to Wenger, we have undersold players or had to let players depart for nothing.
We have made signings that are either poor or the players stock has declined as they have failed to maintain their form under Wenger. As examples we paid approx £16m for Perez and £12m for Debuchy, who were allowed to depart on loan and on a free. That is £28m wasted. What is the current squad worth? How many of the squad are on short deals? Who could we realistically sell at decent transfer fees to raise additional funds for the new manager.
In the summer window we need a new keeper, at least one CB and at least one DM. Those three signings will cost a minimum of £100m, unless we can sign out of contract players. That has a cost as they want top wages, as an example Kolasinac was free, but his reported salary is £150,000 pw, for a player that realistically should be on no more than £75,000 pw. Ozil on a reported £300,000 pw, Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan both on reported £200,000 deals. These salaries are way above their worth, even in the current inflated market.
The club is in a mess and we need a David Dein type figure at the club.
A combination of Wenger, Kroenke, Gazidis and the board have created this problem. No wonder Gazidis is backing Arteta as manager, he is possibly the cheapest option, both in terms of salary and possibly willing to accept mamanging with only £50m to spend. A top anager will want a top salary, look at the salaries Guardiola and Mourinho are on, and a spend of £100-150m that is desperately needed to fund the rebuild of the keeper, defence and DM. Rant over!

I've a feeling we might be splashing out a little more than 50 million this summer mate.

24 Apr 2018 09:00:51
G62 - Possibly, but it was reported that there would only be a net spend of £50m. Possibly any fees received for sales will be added, but there is little of value to sell!
Ospina, Cech, Chambers, Iwobi, Perez, Jenkinson, etc. Not worth much!

Don’t listen to the papers.

24 Apr 2018 09:14:20
G62 - I may have missed it, who is your first choice realistic replacement for Wenger?

24 Apr 2018 10:13:49
If at possible Simone mate, I think we need a bit of George Graham back in our life's.
Arsene is by far my favourite Arsenal manager of all time and I loved watching his supertasic brillaint footbal in his first decade, but the more diluted the George effect became the more and more vulnerable we looked with every season that went by.
Get the new George in let him get those rock solid foundations bedded in super strong then look for the next Arsene Wenger or as close as is possible to find one.

24 Apr 2018 11:35:50
G62 - I fully agree on Simeone, depending on whether he has learnt English and wants to leave Atletico for a new challenge.
The first half of Wenger's reign was incredible. Post Dein and Fiszman it wasn't great.
However, Wenger still won 3 FA Cups, 3 Community Shields and 3 Champions League places over the last 4 seasons. Even this season he has reached the League Cup Final, the EL semi-final and should finish in a EL position for next season. Neither Klopp nor Pochettino have won anything In all the time at their present clubs. Indeed Pochettino has never won a single managerial trophy.
The early years of George Graham were also amazing.

24 Apr 2018 12:51:24
Your right RG Arsene did win 3 trophies in his last 4 seasons and maybe it will be 4 in 4 if we are lucky, let's hope so.
The trophy winning wasn't the problem it was the total surrenders and thrashings each and every season, it was the same old problems always letting down season after season over 38 games and Arsenes inability to either see them or to know what to do to fix them after them continuously getting found out because of them for so many seasons.
We all wanted to be competitive in 38 games a season nearly every season and it's been a long long time since a Arsene side did that.
Arsenal must have one of if not the highest thrashings rate per season over the last decade of premier league seasons, even sides who were relegated never got beat as badly as often as us mate and ultimately that's what lost Arsene the fans and cosy him his job.

Hey stoner don’t you think it’s a hard enough day for me without reading your jack bashing bellow. I do agree he’s not a patch on santi, he looked lively coming back but has been dire for the last 4/ 5 games.

Sorry mate, I’ve backed Jack for an eternity, much like I did with Wenger and feel let down by the pair of them.

It could just be Jacks not yet truly fit but he looks so bad it’s painful to watch.

Genuinely saddened to see Wenger go though mate, really hoped he’d come good too but it just wasn’t to be.

20 Apr 2018 22:45:04
Yes mate your the same as me in a way! Your a romantic and I’ve always backed jack as I just wanted so desperately a Arsenal steve g, obviously a high expectation as stevie is the only player that I loved outside of arsenal. Wenger I live and adore and won’t forget as he too is a romantic and I love his vision of football and only think it’s good for the game. Here’s a shout stoner, Wenger should try for fifa or UEFA . He would lead them out of the dark ages in my opinion. One of football wisest men. God I miss him already 😢.

21 Apr 2018 23:54:21
I don’t even want to admit how much it saddens me he’s off mate and that is a great shout, Wenger most importantly is as honest as the day is long, something FIFA needs is huge quantities.

I looked at the pics of him today with the players training, he so loves football and in honesty I think the board said it was time and not him. He’ll be back somewhere. 😔.

A lot of speculation is going on as to what Arsene will do next but wee could ask the same of Stewart Robson and piers Morgan too.
If Arsene goes to France or the states will they simply follow him?
Without Arsene they will simply have no purpose and both their fan will just stop listening to them and walk his dog mow his lawn and find a billion better things to do with his time.

Not arsenal related. But was looking at the semi EL tie and seen that OM are against red bull Salzburg and they just put out RB Leipzig . Why are Leipzig called RB instead of red bull like Salzburg, they are both the same owners ain’t they? Is it to do with something daft like difference in advertising between Austria and Germany? Or are the two teams unrelated?
