Just a few names on wengers list. arsenal are in advanced talks with fiorentina over a deal for jovetic. This is definitely going to be a good summer as the cash is there and wenger has been told to spend it.

Br4dley

Believable87 Unbelievable47

We probably won't get one of the names on that list unfortunately

Agree4 Disagree2

I have seen these kind of quotes and hopes for the last 3 years now so I am not at all excited for the summer for once. Realisticly if you have followed Arsenal for a while you wouldn't have such high hopes. We have a warchest to spend bla bla bla.

/The Swede

Agree6 Disagree0

Things have changed at the club there will be some major signings and no big departures

Br4dley

Agree1 Disagree4

A few of the names? ha, now that's quite funny, Wenger certainly never has more than 4 or 5 targets at anytime, otherwise he would have been able to replace Cesc, Nasri, RVP, and Song without panic buying as he has done. If a manager wants a player he'll stick by them, not draw up a bloody dossier of maybes and ifs.

Agree3 Disagree0

Money was never available before and that is why wenger was never able to replace them, things have changed now, there will be money and it will be spent.
Keep faith

Br4dley

Agree0 Disagree1

How was there not money available before? every season we seem to have positive transfer profit. If the money hadn't been there, how on earth can they run a club who pay below par players astronomical wages. Get rid of the players who do not deserve to be there, if it means releasing them on a free then so be it. Selling players, property and what ever else for millions, then saying there's no surplus is bullsh*t. Arsenal may not have the millions provided by the oligarchs, however, they are not stupid and could easily buy 2 or 3 £30 mill + players over the past few seasons if they really wanted.

Agree1 Disagree0

Your right they could of but they were being carful as they had just built a new stadium, and expect all of the deadwood to go this summer.

Br4dley

Agree0 Disagree2

Bradley me boy, what you have been smoking today?

We all wish you were true but the last 4 years have made all of us cynical.

Agree1 Disagree0

Its good to see that some of us have enthusiasm. Sadly most of ours myself included. has been crushed by years and years of well. nothing.

So keep up your spirit and inspire us with your aura. like messi does apparently.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ash, I haven't been smoking anything, I'm just confident and from what I have been told we are in for some good players.

Br4dley

Agree0 Disagree0

Most of the players you mentioned are not different or better than the ones we've got so I don't see how that is going to help us. our midfield is good as long as jack stays fit. our attack too is ok but will be deadly if we could get lewandowski or higuain. among all the defenders you mentioned I think only one will be good for us; 'Nkoulou. we don't need a goalkeeper. szecz is good and we have fabianski. but if we could go for a keeper then let pray QPR drops so we could get Ceazar at a chip price.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bradley I agree. I too think 4 or 5 signings to come, with 1 marque signing. I been a gooner long b4 wenger was ere. somethins clcked an £££ will be spent. good times ahead

MK Gunna

Agree0 Disagree0

Well that certainly shows how much you know due to the fact that every single one of those players would improve our squad. Also in my opinion howdes and rami are much better that djourou and squillaci. Fabianski will also be leaving as the reason he has upped his game is because he is trying to attract decent clubs to buy him therefor I do not think that Julio Caesar is the answer to our GK problems.

Br4dley

Agree0 Disagree0

For me its
Begovic
Rami
Wanyama
Capoue
Higuain
and to be greedy I take Di Maria {Ed027's Note - Someone like Di Maria would just make up for the past summers's

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal were under financial restraints due to debts incurred from constructing a modern stadium.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bradley

You seem to suggest that Wenger has been told there is money and he MUST spend it.

So was there money before and AW refused?

Is there suddenly cash available to due stadium and prudence? ( I believe this one )

The board control the availability of cash and no doubt both the board and AW have reached the conclusion that investment is needed. The board have also confirmed that there will be significant funds available. They have said this before so I imagine them saying that this time AW, you really do have funds and the wages are not part of the funding available. Let us worry about that and let Dickie go his business. You sweat talk your targets.

Thoughts?

SY4

Agree0 Disagree0

Aw has a strict wage stucture that is why some players have left nasri/vp along list. so the likes of dzeko ain't going to take 100k paycut and aw is not going to start paying 180k+ a week

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting you put this list actually because I have heard that there are a few players on wengers wishlist that you have just named there, I haven't heard that they are interested in all of them but I will say the players we are looking at are Begovic, Valdes, Rami, Capoue, Wanyama, Alexis Sanchez, Gotze, Ericsson, Isco, Lewandowski and another goalkeeping target is Mingolet, but wengers number 1 on his wishlist is apparently Jovetic, as Lewandowski looks united bound and Gotze looking increasingly likely that he will be staying with Dortmund and I would imagine sanchez will stay with Barca for at least a few more years and interestingly enough ericsson shockingly looks like he's heading in the direction of Liverpool.

They want 15m for Begovic.

Write the check immediately and send it. Bargain

Believable8 Unbelievable53

That's a lt of money for a keeper - no bargain.

We have a reported 70m to spend and need 5 players.

Not sure if the 70m includes the contract the new players sign but let's hope not.

Blowing 21% just on the keeper when a world class centre mid and striker would take up a huge chunk of the budget does not make it a bargain in any shape or form.

If we believe in Our existing number one then surely an older, cheaper but experienced keeper with 2 years left makes more sense and leaves more for the outfield players.

Half the issues with the keeper is the defence and the rush of blood. Experience and a beast of a midfielder will go a long way.

Just my thoughts.

I would like us to spend no more than 8m on the keeper and spend the rest on the outfield additions

SY4

Agree1 Disagree0

Really? Is 15 mil a bargain for Begovic?

Eh, sorry mate but I'm not convinced we should spend 15 mil on a good stoke keeper.

Nick.

Agree1 Disagree0

Begovic is the best keeper in the Prem. his command of the box, presence and reflexes are consistently world class. Look at who and what he plays with, his team can't keep possession. He is always on his toes

For a top keeper in his prime with thorough knowledge of the prem, you pay 15m

Unless Mignolet is really 5-6m, in which case you do that. He is on his way to being incredible

Agree1 Disagree1

Goalies at crap teams look better as they are always under pressure and have to be on their toes.

Our keeper can ave nothing o do for ages so difficult to retain focus especially if immature

Remember Lehman and how he kept focused

Remember how Wright looked good until he joined us

I am not saying he is crap but think about how many keepers look good when we play them because we pepper the goal and penalty box all game.

I am just saying - be careful buying a goalie from a poor side.

SY4

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree with most replies. Goalies at crap club look better than they are sometimes plus Woj will be good enough for no 1 in a year or 2 so a cheaper experienced goalkeeper would be better. Better to spend on world class striker/winger and midfielder.

After watching the Dortmund game last night was amazed at the levels of effort put into the last minutes of the game by the players. That level of commitment is exactly what I want to see from Arsenal players even if we don't end up winning games from that position I would be happy with the determination to change a result. Gundongan, Lewandowski, Reus and Goetze are all class. It would be a dream to have any of them at our club they are real quality. What a manager Jurgen Klopp is he looks like a mad scientist on the touch line but you can tell how much it means to him and that kind of manager transfers that level of passion onto his players.

Malaga are saying it was racism that caused them to loose but I don't think they can complain they had one offside goal to and in a way it was fair for both goals to count in the end.

Been reading the pages recently and there has been a lot of negativity surrounding Giroud which I for one don't understand I have supported him when he hasn't been good but I still believe he will turn into a quality squad player who has shown he can score and set other players up. He isn't the finished article we need up front but he is still a good addition to the squad. I feel he gets a unfair amount of stick for his first season in the league.

If I could pick players to come in out of our realistic options. I would choose Begovic or Ruffier. Wanyama or Capoue. A good right back to go with Jenkinson who I rate. A centre back to replace Djourou and Squillaci ( Not Sure Who). A striker in the form of Lewandowski (Dreaming) (again not sure who) and some kind of winger/creative force to go with what we have. Obviously this is asking a lot but I think if people were found in those positions we would have a side that could push for trophies again and wouldn't undermine the work we have done with our youngsters.

Believable32 Unbelievable7

Agreed. I'd rather have less players come if the ones that do come in are genuine class players who are significantly better than we already have. Our squad is actually quite large but we don't have enough really top players (Jack and Cazorla are perhaps the only two).

Agree0 Disagree0

To include Jack Wilshere in the same sentence is an insult to Cazorla.

Arsenal linked with Vorm, Cassillas, Begovic and Reina to replace Sczezny, who could go to fulham or ac milan

Believable10 Unbelievable56

Absolute nonsense. GKs we're linked with are to replace Fabianski who's contract runs out this season & Vito.

They're for competition/understudies to Woj, nothing to do w/ replacing him.

Doi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe, but if he leaves then we may sign one or two, depending on Fabianski and Mannone leaving

Agree0 Disagree0

As I said. Both Mannone/Fabianski are leaving. Hence the looking for comp for Woj.

He is staying.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont believe Chesney is leaving. Competition for him, ideally over 30 would be best I think as in a couple of years time he will be no 1 and a very good one I think too.

Agree1 Disagree1

I don't believe he will leave either, i'm repeating what has been said recently.
IF he leaves, which I doubt, he will be replaced and when fabianski/mannone leaves they will be replaced

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, with 4 keepers you'll hardly ever concede ;)

HB

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe that the club will let Chesney go. He is a quality keeper who is still very young and although he may have had a few shaky performances let's face it, he has been let down badly by an underperforming defence on more than one occasion.

Agree1 Disagree0

Sczezny will probably not leave, but if he does we have been linked to these goalies to replace him. And obviously only one will play at a time HB.

Agree0 Disagree0

. No, we haven't.

The goalies are being looked at to replace Fabianski (End of contract) and Mannone (Wants game-time)

End of lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, but, once again, IF he leaves, and there have been rumors, then we have been linked with these keepers to replace him/what ever other goalie leaves the team, whether it be Sczezny or the others

Agree0 Disagree0

There's been no rumours of him leaving at all.

We would not remove all three of our mainstay GK's. That's ridiculous.

In fact he'll more than likely renew.

Agree0 Disagree0

szczesny may just very well leave. if someone is brought in short term and he doesn't manage to get back into the first team, he is impatient enough on the field he may be impatient kicking his heels on the sidelines. I saw somewhere his contract expires summer of 2014. I really hope that isn't true
