I love TH14 but doesn't signing him now show how poor our side is - especially as it could be for the rest of the season rather than a short term need.
Like the idea of him training with us but nervous about the ambition of the club if this is a winter signing

The only bad thing about henry coming back short term is that it signals that wenger believes chamakh/gervinho are good enough to make it at least til the end of the season which is mental

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully TH14 isn't the only signing. I love him, but I don't really see him making a huge impact on our 1st team. Maybe he will do what he did last year and spark a race for the top of the league.

Wenger will be looking at more than just Henry. Also don't look at him as merely playing reinforcements but the intangible effect he has off of the pitch.

In Arsene I Trust.

Agree0 Disagree0

We do need another striker to join him.
However, no it does not symbolise we are a poor team, we are atm but look at Pirlo joining Juve on a free, poor team? He is better than he was last year, and a match winner we are in definite need of some.

Was just on the spud page having some fun winding them up, it would appear that they have put in an official bid for m'villa which ed002 has confirmed to be true, also they are spouting about signing Huntelaar.

If these are 2 of our targets, why would they choose them? We pay higher wages and offer champions league football. {Ed002's Note - I did explain that the offer was turned down.}

AW has earmarked Yann M'Vila and Huntelaar as his main signings this Jan. It is also well known that Henry is coming in on loan. Both he and Henry are desperate for the deal to last until May.

Henry will likely call time on his playing career and take up a coaching role at Arsenal following the end of the MLS season in 2013.

Wenger also wants Will Hughes and Wilfried Zaha and will look to raid the English lower divisions for young stars going forward, either in Jan or in the summer.

Henry will definitely be arriving on loan, the only question is how long? Huntelaar is as good as a done deal whilst M'Vila is a matter of "if no one better becomes available". A direct quote from my source. Don't know what that means or who is better but that's what she said.

I have no idea if this is true but if it is i think that would be a great Jan especially for Arsenal. M'vila has attitude problems but he has undoubted talent and i think Wenger would be able to control him.

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know Henry will retire

Agree0 Disagree0

What about mohamad Diame? 4 milliin pound release clause and is a beast

Agree0 Disagree0

I suspect M'Vila will be very hurt by the manner in which he was treated by French FA. It would be in his interest to put his head down and move outside of France.

Much in the way Joey Barton did (who I think is far more violent than M'vila).

Young boy, who would do well at a club where he is protected from the media and nurtured as a player. Arsene wenger could do wonders with this player.

ON a seperate note, we were all moaning when Wenger didn't sign him... well well, I guess Wenger DOES know.

This is coming from the guy who predicted we will sign for schweinsteiger. ok...

Hi Ed, does wenger still hold any kind of interest in Yann M'Vila and if so whats the chances of him arriving at the emirates this coming january? {Ed002's Note - Spurs, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Zenit, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Juventus have all shown a determined interest in M'Vila over the past year and perhaps PSG and Barcelona will become interested as well. However, he was there for the taking of Arsenal should they make an offer that is acceptable to Rennes but his recent issues with his National coach has made Arsenal think again. Spurs put an offer on the table - 15M euro bid which was rejected. Zenit is another club who remain interested.}

personally i don't think signing huntelar woulld solve our problems. yeah he's a good player but i'd rather the club focus on sorting out theo's contract and play him as striker. another thing i think we need a strong cdm. a midfield bully so arteta can play further forward and be a bit more involved in our attacking play and he'd get more goals.

opinions always welcome

gooner mark

Believable20 Unbelievable23

The club need a 20 goal a season striker and Huntelaar fits that bill. I do agree that Theo's contract does need to sorted out and should've have been sorted out before the last World Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with most of what you say but we do desperatley need a quality striker like Huntelar. Look at the problem we got now Theo's injured, Giroud's injured that means we got to rely on Gervinio god help us. So yeah we really do need a quality striker like Huntelar.

Quality striker, strong defensive midfield player who can distribute the ball well and let Cazorlia do his magic. It's simple really!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you mate- Arteta being wasted... a far more effective player than ramsey... scores and assists

any 1 else think we are building a new squad from scratch?
if walcott and sagna leaves how many of the 1st team squad are left compared to 2 seasons a go.

all so if you look at how many captains have left the last 3-4 season do you think the value in money would go up because of their status at the club?

arsenal to sign two promising youngsters from crewes under 18's andrew harford and david brady
brady finished top scorer last year
both players being scouted by chelsea,utd,spurs and a few clubs from europe...

we need more proven players but the two are defo for the future great players

Believable16 Unbelievable10

No these two are going to west ham

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolute tosh crewe have these two signed down to long term deals they wont be going nowhere unless a bid came in that was too good to turn down and if arsenal are spending I would think they would spend it on proven players not youngsters again

Hi eds quick question has wenger been watching former juventus youth player ayub daud in the past or is it interest in him from other clubs

Nreds {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in him from anyone, sorry.}

Believable3 Unbelievable7

Ayub Daud is my first cousin and arsenal wasn't interested in him. West ham and Leeds were the only two English teams that were interested in him. He will be free this summer and more likely be signed b by English club but don't have more info about which team.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we are looking at any of The Old Lady's palyers it should be Giovinco. He is quality, quality, quality and will only get better imho

morning ed002,could you please give us an update on possible signings or is it pretty much the same?

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - A few things that may be relevant. Spurs' latest offer for M'Vila has been rejected. PSG has let it be known that they will seek the transfer of Sagna in January rather than waiting for the summer. Arsenal has a made an offer for Huntelaar but there is no agreement just yet. That seems to be about it.}

Believable13 Unbelievable2

Please , please, please do not let us become home for that nutter M'Vila....imagine what he could do in London.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any chance of a swap with psg , Sagna for Sakho? {Ed002's Note - Arsenal and Lyon have sustained interest in Sakho and there is growing interest from Newcastle, Inter Milan, Manchester City and possible interest lingering interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. PSG are not keen on selling and he seems keen to stay.}

Eurosport Germany is a VERY reliable source. They talked about Podolski's Move, Cazorla's move and Giroud's move this summer and not about a single rumour that was fake. Rightnow they had a few articles already where they say Arsenal are favorites to sign Huntelaar. They don't spread, that the deal is done, but if they already say we are the most likely destination it is exactly the same kind of article I read there before Podolski's move was official.

Even more interessting is another article, claiming that Arsenal will try to add Demba Ba to their squad as well in January and the Reina rumour seems to have some truth in it as well.

The last article I want to mention here was from Luis Gustavo from Bayern Munich. They said it could be a possibility and they have internal contact-persons most of the time, especially in German football.

At last i read on a number of sport-news-sites, that Henry will come back for sure for a second loan spell. So it is already done.

Yes please:
Reina, Huntelaar, Ba & a defensive midfield player.

I cant believe that we will sign both Ba & Huntelaar.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ba can play on the wing as part of a front 3 and if Walcott does go then this could be the rationale

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love Luiz Gustavo as a signing.

Billybob

Good to see a post from a reliable source as opposed to the usual wish lists

Huntelaar is not done but an offer has been made......makes you wonder what size the offer is....

Wilfried Bony ed any news about this guy {Ed002's Note - Wilfried Bony was of interest to Newcastle over the summer and has been a player Chelsea have been considering for a while. Right now there is varying degrees of interest from Aston Villa, QPR, Liverpool, Everton and a couple of German sides (Hamburg and Schalke) but I doubt he will move to either. It would not be a surprise to see interest from other teams, possibly Napoli and Roma, but that is all there is at this time. The player has said he would like to join Chelsea but anymove in January is by no means certain.}
