wilfred zaha

Believable8 Unbelievable33

This is good news. I have seen some of him and he looks to be a quality prospect

Agree0 Disagree0

Going to be big. Not as good as the Ox but will improve. On a long term deal at Palace so would only move for £10mill plus

GoonerDan

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant see this happening with walcot about to sign new deal we have plenty of cover in this position espally if we are going to try get hazard in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very Very Very overrated

heres hoping the extra time durin the week will have an effect on sunderland 2morrow.. i think if we get the win it could be very big considiring the fixtures that are on this wkend...common you gunners

Believable9 Unbelievable3

Forever hopeful of a win, but disappointed that we have to hope Sunderland are tired. In days gone by this would be a fixture where we rest players

TVOR

Agree0 Disagree0

Well the way o neil has sunderland playing at the mo id take any advantage i can get but i get what your saying..but i game at a time and lets see whats next after this one

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point TVOR but also it's fair to say that in past years Sunderland would not have such a quality manager at th helm of a good squad of players.

They are no slouches, Sunderland lie just above midtable currently, but they have taken 17 wins from 21, with 2 draws and 2 defeats since O Neil took over. Arsenal have more than enough to take them on, and I suspect they will come out the tracks and try to get some early crosses in on top of our defence.

It's one of those games, difficult to call - but I am a betting man and I've already put up my money to match my mouth with a cheeky tenner.

I got it at 16/1 so that's £170 back, if we roll out 3-1 winners... Although had I been sharper, the odds before we wiped out Blackburn were far better.

So I say, they score the first goal but we score a quick double before half time is out. Then as the game balances, I see us passing the ball around to tire out Sunderland, and probably Van Persie grabbing the last goal of the game.

Bring them on!

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

CS. We are defiantly capable of taking the game. I just worry what Arsenal team will turn up. With a motivated team we'll get the 3 points, but sometimes this team looks like they would rather be at home playing on their ps3

Any victory is a good one from this point on.

Well that didn't take long did it?
One day Stuart Pearce is made caretaker manager of England, the next day he is all over the front pages for something unsavoury that happened almost 20 years ago.

Do our media ever get behind our national team?

Believable20 Unbelievable3

Its an absolute joke. Im against racism in every way, shape and form but seriously its becoming a joke now. no wonder everyone hates our media!

Agree0 Disagree0

Although i feel there is still a place for honest investigative journalism in this country most of them are total pond life and i have absolutly no time for them. They write total lies most of the time and i for one do not buy papers anymore. I feel that because most of the papers have a falling readership and circulation they are becoming more desperate to sensationalise everything. The "journalists" seem to think they are now celebrities by appearing on radio shows and tv. When they smell what they think is a story they will not leave it alone despite the sometimes tragic outcomes on peoples lives...scum bags.

It has been reported that Real Madrid are preparing a bid for robin van persie which includes £30million + higuin. Tbh I would let rvp go for that offer

Believable9 Unbelievable20

Higuain is in no way as good as van persie.

Agree0 Disagree0

That a load of rubbish, at the end of the season van persie will be 29 and will have one year on his contract. no team will bid 30m for him and to throw higuain in aswell who they can easily get 30m for him considerin they paid 20m for him just shows how people believe everything they read

Agree0 Disagree0

There's been a load of crap written about RVP. He will decide his future at the end of the season. GoonerDan

Agree0 Disagree0

Well a rumours a rumour, but I have to agree Higuain for all his quality, is no Van Persie, Robin has shown the last 2 seasons how much he improves with game time. I don't even think we have seen the best of him yet! Wenger has realised how to manage him now, in terms of getting the best from him via his attitude, and better training so he doesn't get injured. Also he seems fitter than he has been in the past, he is probably the best player on the planet at the moment in terms of what he gives to the team. All those who say we are not a one man team, well we are when Van Persie is playing because he is so good!

No I doubt this would ever happen, and i'd definitely keep Van Persie over any other player and amount of money which we may amount to nothing in more ways than one.

And you have to say, those who doubt Wengers quality as a manager? Well I was there the day we signed Robin, and whilst everybody knew he was a special talent then; considering the amount of serious injuries he has suffered; he has turned into a real peach of a player and this has to be attributed to Wenger; despite recent events and hardships.

Considering Van Persie is on 22 goals half way through the season, and the fact he can't get better now without a decent strike partner; I really think Wenger must have something else up his sleeve. I don't want to suggest it's going to be Oxo; maybe it's Ryo or Park who knows...

But I can see some semblence of a plan to the squad, even though everybody was saying we are just panic buys and players left from the last squad. So I don't buy that - I think 'as usual' we are two or three players away from winning titles. Wilshere is one, Oxlade Chamberlain seems to be the second...

So who is the the final piece?

RVP is replaceable but at the same time he is irreplaceable.

If we sell RVP and look only to buy a striker to replace him, then I would say he's irreplaceable. Sturridge, Torres, Higuain or Benzema, no one would do IMO.

But if we buy an ST like Sturridge, a world class creative midfielder like Goetze, a good winger and a utility defensive player like Verthongen, then I'd say he's replaceable. Cause then we would have a forward that isn't as good though we would have a time that is way better then the current.

The problem is that we all now Wenger won't go on the market and buy those players we need unless something changes within the club.

Hank Moody

Believable14 Unbelievable1

Very well put.

Ash

Agree0 Disagree0

Very true! must say tho as the arsene hater bandwagon will disagree as long as he is our manager rvp is replaceable, knowing him he has some nobody ready to replace him. just think the amount of so called irreplaceable players that have left our club and arsene has replaced with a nobody

D16

Agree0 Disagree0

We must buy such players and he'll stay.

DrchoGooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with most of this but would rather see a better ST than Sturridge. I know the name Benzema keeps popping up. Maybe just maybe he would be available?

Agree0 Disagree0

WE DONT WANT STURRIDGE! He will be far too dear for what he is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Matias Suarez is already lined up as RVP's replacement. We have a pre contract in place for him to join us in May.

so hazard has already said that he will be off to the premier league in the summer, as it suits him more. and also rumour has it he has already agreed to join a english club. personally i believe it is us he going to join.
chelsea's primary target is a ST, with higuain the most likely, and a winger- which although they have been scouting hazard, hulk is their main target.
manu are only looking to buy a top quality CAM, with sneijder and ganso their main targets, aswell as gotze being scouted.
spuds cannot attract top quality players, unless they are unwanted by their clubs e.g. vdv.
man city- hard to tell who they want, they have a greedy manager who is linked with buying every player.
liverpool- enough said.
Waq
just my opinion, based upon past and recent rumours.

Believable18 Unbelievable3

Hope your right mate, rvp would stay if we got hazard..

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it will all depend on Champions League football for both of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

So Chelsea are looking at a winger, a position that Hazard plays. Man City could quite easily buy him, I don't think we can afford to offer the fee or the wages of such a hot property.

In Arsene I Trust

Agree0 Disagree0

In Arsenal we rust.

Agree0 Disagree0

Better hope so, the thought of Mata and Hazard in the same team scares the s**te out of me tbh. Could have been us aswell!

Interesting rumour of barcelona ready to tempt wenger with Isaac Cuenca, Tello and Dos Santos for RVP.

3 talented players with massive upside for a player who is at his best...hmmm i dont think wenger will bite on this.

They want RVP pay up...outbid each other, and then all of us have to kneel down and pray that wenger will buy a damn striker if he sells the 3rd best player on the planet.

Believable3 Unbelievable10

As far as I'm concerned, Barca not only have to pay the asking price for RVP but also have to pay for what we didn't get for Fabergas.

That means, if Barca want RVP: £90 Million. No player exchanges, straight cash in one shot. Take it or Leave it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stupid Farsa. They are offering us players because they have no money. No way I would swap this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt it. Barca have said theyre not interested in signing RVP

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a bad deal, 3 players!

Agree0 Disagree0

For me It'd have to be Cuenca, Tello, Dos Santos, Pedro and Mascherano in a straight swap.

OR

20m + Mascherano and Pedro

Best striker in the world shouldn't be sold for anything less than 100m but since his contract is expiring we can't demand too much as usual.

Wouldn't happen so no deal IMO.

Henry loan expires 16th february to return to new york red bulls.

would've liked to see him against spurs

bs18

Believable17 Unbelievable3

I'd like to see him cmoe on at the end, when it's 4-1 and do a courtesy free kick to make it 5!

Oxo, Theo and RvP upfront with at least a goal each and one for either Vermaelen or Koscielny because those lads both deserve one for their efforts in the last 3 months.

Ramsey to start showing he has improved, but hopefully from the bench or after a few games rest he looks knackered.

Anyone see the alleged home shirt for next season? The hoops are 'interesting'.

Believable1 Unbelievable10

Yes, I like it but it will be interesting to see a long sleeve version to see if it still works.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt thats real... Uniteds colours!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say that its 99% authentic as Arsenal insider has had the scoop on new kits for the last few years & everyone has been correct. I've also seen this somewhere else

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you joking? thats absurdly fake ,cant believe this is seriously being talked about

bs18

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you lot smoking?? it is clearly a photoshop joby!! the bottom of the sleeves are so fake, different colours and texture!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

If you think this is bad wait til you see the away kit....

Agree0 Disagree0

Did u read the text below it. They said its a mock up from a picture their source gave them...thats y it looks fake. And its not Man U colours, its navy blue, not black. But its still ugly and hope its not it.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's fake. The new home shirt will be almost identical to the current centenary shirt but with the normal arsenal badge and on the white sleeves there is red lining on one arm and navy on the other.

The away kit is bugundy and navy stripes and looks awful!

Agree0 Disagree0

Horrible to be honest. Looks cheap and tacky with black and white hoops. There are a few pictures claiming to be the real home and away kits floating about the net now.

CT

Agree0 Disagree0

Shockingly ugly tbh

belfastgooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol

That's the worst shirt I have ever seen! Arsenal would never have that one because it wouldn't sell. You know they sell a large amount of 'girlfriend' shirts and gifts which are bought just as fashion items for other people!

If they use your one I can't see them selling any! Apart from perhaps in Asia when we go there lol they are awful!

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

That's more likely to be United's home kit than Arsenal's.

Agree0 Disagree0

That IS next seasons shirt

Agree0 Disagree0

The black armbands are to show our greif at non-qualification for the Champions League and the loss of RVP ! The black neck collar is to depict how the board are choking the club! And yes I am a frustrated Arsenal fan

Agree0 Disagree0

1>the sleeves are too long which suggests that they have been added to it
2>once you take away the extended part of the sleeves it is give or take the home kit from last season just with a different colour collar which can easily be edited to change the colours.

There is an article in teamtalk which states arsenal are the 5th richiest club. With our lack of transfer activity and raised season ticket prices it's no wounder really. Article should read ritchiest board members.

"in arsene we trust"

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Madrid and barca are only top because they negotiate there own tv deals

Agree0 Disagree0

AW gets paid a fortune as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

We were fifth last year aswell. We would possibly be even higher if Arsenal would make more money off sponsorship deals tbh.

CT

Agree0 Disagree0

The stats don't consider debt or expenditure so are not a true reflection.

Agree0 Disagree0

The status are not a true reflection? Are you saying that Deloitte, the worlds leading auditing and consulting company are doing it wrong?

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a joke - I have stoped pumping MY money into the club since they sold fab and nas and pocked the cash and raised ticket pricess. we have the most expensive tickets in the WORLD - Its a joke so no more going buying tickets or shirts untill i see a change of policys, we are being taken for a ride by the board
spanner

Agree0 Disagree0

No. Arsenal have the fifth highest revenue. This is from shirt sales, ticket sales etc. Not to be confused with how rich the club is.

This will rock the club to its core, and this has come since the 7-1 demolition of Blackburn. Arséne has been contacted regarding a summer move to Real Madrid. You are probably thinking, we've heard it all before, but this year it has weight. After a meeting a good few weeks ago now with the board, there was a rejection by the board to up the funds for top players wages, Wenger was furious after the apparent cap in hand gesture was rejected. His argument was, when the ground move was outlined, it was going to take its toll on spending on the squad for five years. Wenger was ok with the financial strategy as he had a number of promising players coming through the ranks(of which the cream have been plucked out of there already), at the time AW felt that they would be ok and maintain top four league finish consistently and win a couple of cups along the way. He delivered on the league positioning, but not the silverwear as opponents are only too quick to point out. All of the best players have gone; Hleb, Flamini, Fabregas, Clichy, then the planned successor to Fabregas, Nasri wouldn't sign an extension and frankly - why should he?! Wenger thought he would because he showed faith in him, Nasri didn't because he was offered a stack more cash at city. Either way the lack of success due to the tender age of the team or the financial incentives of the game have taken their toll, one thing is for sure at Arsenal they have changed their model, away from the five year strategy to lets get the greatest return on our investment with the arrival of a new owner.

Now, moving forward, over the past few weeks the Real Madrid move for Wenger has come about, the question beckons, is this Wenger holding a gun against the head of Kroenke for more cash, or has it gone beyond this for a tired Wenger, who if you have watched arsenal since the start of 2011 are one dimensional? To my knowledge, he's out of there and taking with him a certain number ten who is another who is desperate to have world-class players along side him, and already refused to sign an extension.

The incentive from Real Madrid is that, they cannot beat Barcelona, the may be able to win the league(or at least lead it at the moment), but when it comes to the showdown between them, RM come off second best by a considerable distance. The thinking in madrid is simple. If Wenger can create a team who can beat Barcelona on a budget that Arsenal operate on(and arsenal were the only team to beat both European Cup finalists last year Barca and the scum), then what could he bring to the Spanish capital with the seemingly unlimited expenditure at his disposal. Jose is on his way out after being criticised for some time in Spain for not being able to close the gap in a aesthetically pleasing way. He did the same at Chelsea if every one remembers, they won the league playing football that was horrid to watch stuffed midfield, and played with one big centre forward as a target man, he hasn't done this in Madrid, their game isn't that drastic but madrid see Wenger as the man who can drag them out of Barcelona's shadows. No one player can beat a sparkling Barca team, instead it will be the coach who will reengineer the squads approach.

I do not know if this news has been broken online, I do not read these types of sites, but wanted to share this as its huge news. Sorry guys.

Believable9 Unbelievable20

Wenger might not do so well in Real as he is not that good at signing big names (as Real do) and secondly he has not been good at handling egos (which are aplenty in the RM squad), all he likes is handling very young player who most likely call him daddy and dont question him.

That being said maybe our club does need a shake up, whoever is at fault (Wenger or the board).

Ash

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, how is this not banter (or windup) and a rumour? i find the line very thin.. :) {Ed007's Note - It was posted here just for the sole purpose of annoying very easily annoyed people who like to annoy other people who don't really annoy people for the sake of just annoying people. Plus the Ed that posted it decides where posts go, not anyone else.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I have also heard ;) that when he went cap in hand to up the wages of the top players, they asked him why crap players are on 40k+ wages (there was a long list of them :D!), he didnt have an answer for that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsene has never walked out on a contract and never will simple as that. He may not renew his contract but that is not this summer so for me the story is dead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does this mean we might get a transfer fee for AW, i hope so. With only two teams of any substance in the Spanish league it will make it easy for him to continue what he has done each year until now at Aresenal and that is get in the Champions league as this his holy grail.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Wenger want to move from a club that he loves and that loves him, that he has a comprehensive control and command over, that allows him a wide range of scope of activity and that backs him both discreetly and firmly, to a club that offers him none of this?

RM change managers at a whim and on the slightest of pretext, the pressure to win silverware takes precedence over any other consideration, there is no loyalty towards players and the economic model is utterly corrupt to say the least.

This conjecture is fantasy nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

He won't go. He will stay as our manager and then become Director of Football and get Stoijkoviv as our coach.

GoonerDan

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, firstly if Madrid are looking for Wenger solely because of a 7-1 thrashing of a 10 man team playing in the bottom 3 of the table then Madrid don't know a lot about English football.

Secondly, don't be sorry, they can have him

Agree0 Disagree0

This should at least let us know how much the board restrict him. we are clearly in choppy waters at moment and us fans are baffled by many things that are done at Arsenal. the latest being a contract extension to Djourou. That contract exstention does not back up this story though. Why would board sanction an extra year for a player that only Wenger believes in, if Wenger is leaving!!Me thinks someone is plucking this out the sky! AJT

Agree0 Disagree0

The guy who wrote that Real are only looking at Wenger because of Blackburn win. Get with it! your time may be better spent doing something else than sharing your opinions on blogs. just a thought for you as no one likes to see someone embarrass themselfs! the biggest club in world selects manager because of big win against relegation threatened side!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Real Madrid can have Wenger, he looks tied and void of ideas now...and besides how many trophies have Wenger won against what Jose has won .. it could be a backward step for Real and a forward step for AFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if he goes to Real, we must support him, cuz he did everything for our club.

in Arsene we trust

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't doubt Real Madrid might have contacted him, but to me it doesn't mean anything as Alex fynn, a friend of wenger said due to his family, his next move will likely be to France. Moving back to the board, if AW did ask for a rise in wages and didn't get it, I wouldn't be super mad at the board....yet. There are 4-5 players making 60k/week who aren't good enough.. Wenger needs to show a ruthlessness and get rid of the deadwood and that would make an argument for diverting funds to top-class players easier.

Ibster

Agree0 Disagree0

It is not that RM want him since the Blackburn game, but you'd think that might encourage him there is more life in the squad. Wenger wants out, arsenal are a sinking ship, a spent force, they can no longer sustain their league position.

Its not that Wenger wants more cash for himself, he's at the top of the tree and has been for almost a decade. He is on a par with the top managers in the world in terms of his earning. He wants expenditure on the SQUAD. The board won't release cash, its that simple, he has had a promise broken as ownership has changed, the direction of the club has shifted.

Just because he loves the club doesn't mean he'll stay, he's a winner and he cant get the backing to even come close.

Who do you think runs the club, manager or the board? I read in a comment "comprehensive control and command", that i'm afraid to tell you is fantasy nonsense.

Another scoop, next seasons away top. Purple hoops. I've not seen the design, but thats what i've heard, and thankfully its not as horrid as it sounds supposedly - we'll see though?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Another set of nonsense...
Congrats for the creativity though...
Wenger respects his contracts ...
