David Ornstein has said about our transfer kitty next year, he thinks it’s more than £100 million plus who ever we ship out plus champions league or english premier league money:

Mustafi - 15-20 million,
Ozil - 15-20 million,
Monreal - 5 million,

Plus a few others (these are ruff prices) plus we will have Ramsey, chec, Welbeck off the wage bill. personally I can't see us having just 40 million to spend, hopefully be a good window next summer like last summer, I can see a completely new defence.

{Ed033's Note - That's pretty steep for a neck collar. Was the ruff worn by someone famous in the past? :)

I certainly don't see a completely new defence being in place next season, I personally think we will still have Belerin Papa Kos Holding and Kol but with a new LB CB and betrer cover for Belerin.
I don't expect us to break any spending records on singing defenders but more look for possible upgrades on litch Mustafi and Monreal at reasonable prices.

What do you think Ed 033.

{Ed033's Note - I think that whole Diamond Lights thing with Glenn & Chris was a farce. I agree with gunner62 that Arsenal probably won't be spending any money, making records with singing defenders. :)

If we don’t spend big then I think it’s 6/7 place again next year and so on we need a lb cover for rb and a world class cb don’t bother keeping Suarez, he’s garbage, and we need a world class rw and another cm.

A world class CB alone would take most of that 100 million Welsh, even if we could attract one.
With 100 million we could make real progress but not one huge leap to the top.

We need one gunner, look at Liverpool went out and got what they needed, there defence is much better with just vvd.

Ornstein usually gets in right and £100m, plus any sales is nearer the figure we must spend to improve the team. As far as sales go, the problem is that the players we should sell have little or in some cases no value:
Chambers £10m
Mustafi £15-20m
Ozil - I can't see us getting anything, as his wages are astronomical.
Lichtsteiner- £0 end of contract
Welbeck - £0 end of contract
Ramsey -£0 end of contract
Monreal - £3-5m
Elneney - £5-8m
Cech - £0 end of contract and retiring
Jenkinson- £2-3m of we are lucky
That makes a maximum total of £45m, pus £100m, which totals £145m, for the 4 to 6 players we need to bring in. However, my gut feeling is that we will spend more like an absolute maximum of £100m, including sales. We will need a pair of fullbacks, a CB and a couple of midfield players, I am concerned that Denis Suarez won't be good enough and reports are already somewhat surprisingly emergeing to that effect.

I think we'd all love to see it happen Welsh mate but in reality even if we could afford it would a world class CB join us mate?
I know it's not how we want to see ourselves but realistically we need to make ourselves a more attractive option before we can think along those lines. Just my opinion mate.

I think we will get at least 3 new defenders next summer, a left back, a center back and a right back.

How anyone has managed to pass judgement on Suarez ALREADY is beyond me,

First, I don't understand purchasing players would solve any of our problem. It's a system issue which has to be addressed. Even VVD might not able to save a team if the system is not right. We just need to understand how LFC or MCFC play collectively both in their defence and attack.
Second, we have Koscielny, Papastathopoulos, Holding, Mavrapanos, Pleguezuelo, Chambers and Mustafi for CB position. Even if we sell Mustafi, we have ample number of CBs to make a difference. Technically, Holding and Mavrapanos are a fantastic CBs who can improved a great deal, I would put Pleguezuelo on the same boat. He just hasn't got minutes to prove them yet. And as you can see Chambers has been doing well in Fulham as a DM, and don't forget he can play RB and did well with us in seasons before.
So I feel the mandatory position to fill coming summer would be the LB more than anything.
We did very well with a midfield diamond with the resources which we had against LFC, CFC and THFC. Only Unai knows how he wants us to take forward, and based on that we need to buy right personnel.

Inputs appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Sounds right to me Sen - I'm happy with Sokratis and he needs a settled partner. Ideally Kos at his prime. If not, Holding as long as the fans forgive some mistakes and that doesn't affect his long-term development/ confidence. only Kos and the club have a good idea how long he may be able to carry on and as someone else said (Welsh? ) look at the difference VVD has made at Liverpool, so I think we have to be looking at a quality replacement (quality, not necessarily expensive - the £5m Holding Vs £50 Stones being a perfect example) but when available and depending on how he existing players perform.

@Welsh I've seen him at Barcelona and Sevilla and thought he had obvious skill. Making a call before he's even started a game for us is a waste of everyone's time.

@Sen good shout on Chambers. From what I've seen in him in that position before, he should be Torreira's backup. Who knows, maybe he'll keep getting better.
