Rumours are starting to circulate in the German media that Bayern Munich midfield master Bastian Schweinsteiger is talking to both Arsenal and Chelsea over a summer move that could be worth as much as £20,000,000

Believable15 Unbelievable41

No chance, happy where he is!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Another box to box midfielder? who has also had an average season? just nope.
ibster {Ed027's Note - average lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Bastian is average! Then, what are the majority of Cms?

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski+Schweinsteiger=Perfect. Now all we need is Lahm and Ozil and wel'll be set.

Agree0 Disagree0

Schweinsteiger - average! You are having a laugh, one of the best box to box players in the modern age, an absolute star for Bayern and Germany. God help 99.9% of footballers if he is average.
It would be incredible if we could get him. However, a few small problems. First he seems to love Bayern, second Bayern rightfully love him, third if he did go you can forget your £20m he would be so far out of our price ranger (not that £20m isn't anyway), and last he would go to ne of the big 8 clubs which we sadly sit outside.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bastian Schweinsteiger is exactly the player we need to replace Song and is probably the best box to box midfielder in the world.

Imagine the midfield trio of Arteta, Schweinsteiger and Wilshere - its the stuff of dreams.

I know there was an article I read a few weeks ago from Schweinsteiger's agent who claimed we had a "mega offer" turned down for him last summer.

Luke M

Agree0 Disagree0

I have never heard a rumour as unbelievable as this (at least the "to Arsenal" part!)

Agree0 Disagree0

First off, he isn't what we need. secondly, he's worth well above £20m so this post is bs. thirdly, to however called him average, i suggest you remove yourself from these forums

Agree0 Disagree0

He wouldnt leave germany

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh yea,mr.bayern munich is leaving,he's like the ryan giggs of munich, aint gonna leave his club...ever

Agree0 Disagree0

Fact is we where interested and spoke with him last year about a move. But with Wenger I dont have any hope of world class coming in. Podolski the only name who will come in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough, Let's not get our panties in a bunch here. it was wrong to say he is average. was more referring to fact his current form has been less than stellar. but we simply don't need a box to box midfielder. We have Jack, Arteta, and possibly Song if M'vila comes in as first-choice DM. That's why I veto this move. Put 20 mill towards getting a top attacking mid.
ibster

Agree0 Disagree0

He will never leave Germany

Rumours emerging from Italy that Julio Cesar is close to joining Arsenal, he has continually expressed his frustration at Inters current state and he wants to play Champions League Football. Source (Easy Milano)

Believable15 Unbelievable44

Link please?

Agree0 Disagree0

One of the top quality keepers in the world will come to play second fiddle for SZCZ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Julie cesar is not a back up keeper, neither is Szczesny, so unless Shezza is off, this is rubbish, wherever you read it from Is full of it, If you made it up, make it feasible next time.

D

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think this will happen as we have szczesney and Cesar will want first team football

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont need him

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jun 2012 22:10:57
Hopefully His Been Dropped By Brazil, He Could Teach Shezz alot

Agree0 Disagree0

Isn't easy milano that italian fan before the spain, italy match? i think this guys having a bit of banter

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would arsenal want him when we have a younger and better keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

I know this is unlikely I just wanted to know peoples thoughts on going for Daniel sturridge if RVP leaves as he is strong quick and has a good left foot.

Believable15 Unbelievable34

We need much better players than Daniel Sturridge if we want to succeed in being a title challenging club. IMO he is very overrated.

Tractor Trev

Agree0 Disagree0

Might as well wave the white flag if thats rvp replacement, could possibly be a decent addition bit never a replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a replacement for RVP, definitely no. But as a squad player, I highly rate him and think he'd be a good addition to the side. He's like a more skillful Walcott.

With the options we have on the wings, Gervinho, Walcott, Ox, Miyachi and Podolski, I doubt we'd go for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've always thought he would do well at Arsenal but not replacement for RvP

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd say that's about the same as replacing Andres Iniesta with Aiden McGeady

Agree0 Disagree0

Walcott is skillful when you see him play on the centre, just unlucky we have seemingly more 'skillful' options. sturridge is not like a skillful walcott but probably a more selfish walcott.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never meant as a replacement but use his fee to get Giroud and sturridge 2 decent strikers that would score goals

Agree0 Disagree0

Olivier Giroud betta

If Podolski has been signed and all over our website, why does he still not have a squad number, especially now that the new home kit is on sale?

Perhaps he wants the number 10 shirt?

T.A.

Believable28 Unbelievable17

Because He Hasnt Signed Yet The Window Isnt Open

Agree0 Disagree0

More like they are waiting to sell Park and will give Podolski number 9

Marty

Agree0 Disagree0

Hasn't signed officially yet, not till July 1st, probably that is a factor though, if RVP/Park leaves he'll probably want the 9 or 10 shirt depending who goes.

D

Agree0 Disagree0

Are u saying that arsenal.com is lying us? the number will be given after euro..so please be patient..

Agree0 Disagree0

Squad numbers for next season haven't been allocated yet. You can't officially allocate them until a certain time.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has agreed to join arsenal, but he isn't officially a arsenal player until the international window opens. That is the basic jist of it.

CT {Ed027's Note - someone with a brain, or just someone who knows his stuff :)

Agree0 Disagree0

You cant give a player a number until he has been registered for a club which wont happen until after the euros

bs18

Agree0 Disagree0

Well im no big fancy detective , but its probably because the transfer window hasnt opened yet and hes sort of busy with the euros , the might be it , im not sure tho cause i only gave it 2 seconds thought , i hope that helps , be lucky if it does cause im jst pressin buttons at random here , chocolate lampshade hasslehoff

To ed, Wenger has personally claimed to have been in for Joe Hart whilst he was at Birmingham on loan. Shame, Joe is one of two City players I like a lot and have loads of respect for, the other being Kompany.

Row Z

Believable30 Unbelievable8

We have Szczesny and I don't regret that for a minute personally

ed what's this about ozil being unhappy in madrid. {Ed002's Note - I don't see Oezil necessarily being available in the summer but there will be no shortage of interest from England and Italy if he is, not least Inter Milan who bid against Madrid to buy him originally, and Juventus. Whilst he had what was seen as a very good season last year, this season has been patchy at best with a lot of time on the bench. Real Madrid may listen to offers in the region of 25M euros or so.}

Believable15 Unbelievable9

Unlikely

Agree0 Disagree0

If he did go for 25 m that in my eyes would be a brilliant buy for whoever. I think ozil is one of the top players in Europe, his passing ability is rediculous.

Bermy gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Inter weren't the only team to bid against Madrid. Wenger said on French TV's coverage of the Germany-Portugal game last night that Arsenal had bid, too.

I'm sure he'd be too expensive if he became available now, though. {Ed027's Note - so did Man Utd

Agree0 Disagree0

Wishful Thinking But Chelsea Or Madrid Both Want Lucas Moura I Know Who Id Pick Maybe This Could Open Up A Move For Ozil.

Agree0 Disagree0

Patchy?
2011/11: apps=53, goals=10, assits=25
2011/12: apps=52, goals=7, assits=24......

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the patchy comment, starting to thnk who the eds are and if they watch football or have any serious transfer contacts at all. {Ed027's Note - if you actually watched Madrid, you would have saw he was poor around November, December and he also got dropped on sveral occasions, stats arent everything idiot

Agree0 Disagree0

ED0027.... Lol! Keep up the vitriol, it's bloody brilliant. {Ed027's Note - haha, it just the truth

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozil has only played 71 games for madrid soooo the guy two above me is deluded, but he has been in the best form of his life this year. Ballon d'or nomination, top assists in la liga and hes said he wants to retire at madrid.... if lucas joins kaka to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

71 games in la liga, not all competitions...

Hi ed all these rumours arr goin around about arsenal but apart from podolski whats actually looking likely? And do you think Rvp will go?

Thanks derbyshire gunner {Ed002's Note - There has to be a good chance of M'Vila still.}

Believable9 Unbelievable8

The odds of M'villa joining us have hardened in the last couple of days. Let's hope those in the know are right.

Ed, I know West Ham adn Ajax are interested in Benayoun but what about Arsenal? {Ed002's Note - Seemingly not at this time. West Ham, Ajax and also Cagliari have shown an interest in Benayoun.}

Believable8 Unbelievable7

I like Yossi, but i think its a good thing we r not buying him. To me, that means Wenger is lookng to buy elsewhere and not use Yossi in the limited 25 squad rule.

Arsenal put in a £12M bid for olivier giroud on Fri and Montpellier officials have termed it acceptable even though it below the £15M clause.Ed is it true? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any offer - and certainly no statement from Montpellier.}

Believable21 Unbelievable13

I do hope so !!

Agree0 Disagree0

Theese eds don't know much anyway so your probably right mate {Ed027's Note - a lot more than you pal, especially Ed002 who is certainly 'in the know'

Course he is mate keep on telling yourself that!! Clowns

hey ed can arsenal go for birmingham youngster nathan redmond he's a good player he's just 18 nd has scored 5 in 20 games for the club he can be a great replacement for arshawin as they both are wingers nd have same height of 5ft8in.
he might be available for £5mil-£12mils. {Ed002's Note - I don't know if there is interest or not.}

Believable6 Unbelievable22

Just cause hes same height doesnt mean he is a good replacement

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely we have enough promising youngsters in the squad now,if Arshavin is going to be replaced,it should be with someone with some experience. We need a couple of players in the team who have won things, and know how to guide the young players. We are so close to having a winning team, but please"no more promising youngsters"for a while, anyway.
Braintreegooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm the same height as RVP, and I will play for 20k no 10k a week. And I'm only 17.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm taller than rvp and i'll play for 1k a week

Agree0 Disagree0

Neither off you guys would get into the reserves let alone the first team

Only just seen it but a French journalist based in London, Laurens Julien, has claimed "Deal 99% done. 22 million euros, 4 years.". This was a few weeks back now but as I said I've only just seen it.
What do you lot think?
BR {Ed002's Note - This was discussed to death at the time. Try the search function.}

Believable8 Unbelievable11

Assume the player who's deal was 99% done they were talking about is m'vila?

Agree0 Disagree0

? name would help.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2012 23:19:50
Well basically, because if you have 50 posters with no name then you have no idea of who you are addressing and when someone is making a statement it is good to see whether they are right or wrong. Otherwise everybody can claim they knew best or predicted something would happen. Likewise deny when they are wrong.

Sagna out indefinitely.....Djourou on his way to Italy.....expect the Jagielka rumours to start.......wait for it......wait for it........NOW!

North Carolina Gooner.

Believable21 Unbelievable9

Have I missed something with Sagna? thought his break was not as bad as the last 1 and was a slim chance he would be back for start of season

Agree0 Disagree0

He will miss the first month or so of the new season.

Agree0 Disagree0

My uncle Dave, says Wenger has been on the phone to Roy about the Everton Defenders, not sure who exactly though....

Jagielka rumour..... Sorted.

Was anyone else impressed with Simon kjaer and jetro Willems today both seemed solid throughout the game. Willems has great confidence and Kjaer basically was a brick wall. Im sure they wouldnt cost much and would sort out our defensive problems

Believable20 Unbelievable4

Don't you hate how people see one game and instantly want the player? Mate Kjaer has been rubbish for is club all season mertesacker is much better Also they played with a deep backline whereas we play a high backline, Willems looked ok going forward but defensively very questionable.
Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

I've watched Willems all season at Eindhoven and have watched kjaer quite a few times at Roma I've watched them both play more than once {Ed002's Note - Jetro Willems seems bound for Old Trafford. Kjaer can be inconsistent.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Just cause he plays well in one game doesnt mean hes good + we have no big defense probz

Agree0 Disagree0

What do you mean we have no big defensive problems first of all Djourou and Squillaci will be leaving this summer and mertesacker is basically a slug so we will need another CB also i dont reckon gibbs is completely ready yet and Santos is more of a winger than a full back and to top it Sagna will miss the pre season games and the first few games of the season and i dont fancy Jenkinson covering for him so anyone saying that we dont have defensive problems are obviously in denial

Agree0 Disagree0

I know we have signed poldolski, but is there is any chance of us getting huntelaar?
That would create a better chance of v.persie staying.

Believable9 Unbelievable29

How? Hunterlaar and Van Persie despise each other. Van Persie has a lot of issues with quite a few of the dutch players, Robben and Sneijder to name a few.

Row Z

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP and Robben are ok now, although he is a good friend of Affelay. Robben/ Sneijder hate eachother.

And previous poster, Hunterlaar and RVP do dislike eachother you are correct.

Would probably push Robin away.
