are we looking into the situation with Dejan Lovren?
would be a nice addition, can understudy 2 of the best defenders in the league and replace Vermaelen

Ed002,
I read somewhere that Monreal may seek a return to Spain to improve his chances of regular football and to improve the chances of regaining a place in Spain's national squad.
Is this true and if so, who would you expect Arsenal to look to?
Thanks in advance!

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of him looking to leave. I am only aware of one left back being looked at and that won't happen.}
Thanks Ed.

Purely out of curiosity, who is the one left back and why will it not happen?
Agree0

{Ed002's Note - Erkin - he has signed a new contract.}
Ed is it fair to say that the Aurier deal is a 'done deal'? And also, what clubs are we currently in discussions with in relations to a player?

{Ed002's Note - No, it is not a "done deal".}

Ian Wright, said at the start of last summer that he wants to see Edison Cavani and Mesut Ozil at the Emirates. well we've got one of them! What are the chances of us getting the second one this summer?
PSG reportedly needing to sell before they buy due to FFP?
Would anyone else want him?
Obviously wages would cause a problem.

{Ed002's Note - PSG are already buying (David Luiz) and have players for sale (Verratti, Marquinhos, perhaps Lavezzi, Pastore, possibly Rabiot). Right now they are not looking to sell Cavani - and Arsenal are not looking to buy him.}
Cavani would be amazing

I'd be happy with Verratti.

what's the situation with Schweinsteiger? surely he wouldn't leave Bayern but I've read a lot of articles (not that I believe any) saying he could be sold
Believable2
Unbelievable8
{Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich will listen to offers for Schweinsteiger. Arsenal have not shown any interest.
Schweinsteiger turns 30 in august and knowing our over 30 policy its unlikely we will bid for the player

Who are those real names (signings)for afc
Believable17
Unbelievable6
{Ed002's Note - These are players that Arsenal has been showing some level of interest in (I may have missed some):
GK: Begovic, Ruffier, Marshall
RB: Aurier, Abate, Uchida
CB: Ginter, Williams, Hinteregger, Pejcinovic
MF: Khedira, Schneiderlin, Bender, Calhanoglu, Grenier, Rabiot, Hughes
FW: Vela, Morata, Remy, Lacazette, Benzema, Heung Min Son, Di Maria, Konoplyanka
Considered but probably won't happen: Verratti, Sanchez, Kroos, Bernard, Kondogbia, El Shaarawy, Griezmann, Balotelli, Batshuayi, Bakkali, Origi, Pedro, Draxler, Fabregas, Song, Gonalons
Interest at some point but won't happen: Reus, Martinez, Erkin, Schmeichel, Kouyate, Mandanda, Ucan, Cuadrado, Adil Rami, Santon, Valbuena
Some very good players in there, if all goes well (fingers crossed and touch wood) we could have a very very good squad next year! Dare I say even title challenging?

So effectively for us to contend next season guys, we need to land
Di Maria
Benzema
Khedira
those are the only 3 players from that list who will enable us to compete in Europe and take us up a level at home, faily to land even one of those forwards just makes us better but not sufficiently better.

Taking this list at face value - and with ed2 why wouldn't we?
It would seem it runs most likely from left to right and that would suit me just fine.
Thx!
Kheidira is our new hot target ;-))

All and Eds
Vela back to Arsenal good business in my books he's an improved player since last with us he knows our style and will fit in on any flank or up front as support for main striker.
Eds do ou think Wenger is waiting to see how Benzema and Giroud perform together before go after him.
Also would love to see Balotelli in an Arsenal shirt, I think Wenger could be the calming father figure to get the bes from him.
I don't think any really big signings will happen until the world cup is over everyone will be using the tournement as a shop window to display there goods.
From your posted list the stand out for me is Khedira I think he's a top DM and would release the likes of JW, AR to be more adventurous in attack.
Lets see peoples oppinions in a few weeks once we see their qualities displayed in the world cup.

Have to disagree any one of those forwards are better than what we had to replace giroud last season sanogo maybe one for the future could do with a season long loan to championship side and I think the less said about bentdner the better on the other hand ide bid 22 million for vela and griezman then you would have 2 top performers from la liga last year
Agree0

I'd be very disappointed with resigning Vela. He may have had a good season at Real Sociedad but I'd much rather use him as a makeweight in a potential Griezmann dead (as suggested by the press).
I believe a solid (and realistic) performance in the transfer market would see us sign:
Aurier
Pejcinovic
Schneiderlin
Griezmann
Remy

Hi ed, thanks a lot for that wealth of info there, much appreciated. You mentioned Martinez in the considered but not happening section, is that Javi or Jackson or both?
Agree0

{Ed002's Note - Jackson.}
Its odd you have put Benzema ahead of Balotelli, we have a MUCH greater chance of landing Balotellis signature than benzema.
Besides Benzema is happy at Madrid, he doesn't want to leave.

It's not odd at all Shark. You'd have to be a very desperate club indeed to take on Balotelli, and we are by no means desperate. I don't see any chance of us signing him. Benzema on the other hand will likely be replaced, with Madrid looking at Suarez, Aguero or Cavani. Benzema will not be kept on as a bench warmer.

Am I right in saying that every single forward that we've looked at normally plays down the middle or on the left?
Seems like we're confident on Walcott returning at 100% to play on the right and want to upgrade from Podolski.

Actually, I've got another couple of questions for Ed002, if possible. Ed, I know that you don't talk money, so please bear in mind the figures I mention are for example purposes only. Now, if Arsenal offered a large sum for Javi Martinez, say, £40m for arguments sake, would Bayern be tempted, in your opinion? Same if, say £45m was offered for Pogba, would Juve give it serious thought? I guess what I'm really asking is, are either of those 2 truly off limits, or could they be tempted to sell, if the price is right?

Just read Vela is on his way back to us, I personally think this is good business. I know some people are looking for Remy to join or think he would be a good acquisition but Vela makes more sense to me.
Not the huge impact player I had hoped for, well morale boosting impact player I mean. But not bad business 3 odd million for someone who has 30+ goals and assist last season.
Long time away from posting but have to say the page has a great bunch of posters on here now and the banter is great. Good work guys.
