dempsey injured ffs

Believable18 Unbelievable10

Yes he's out with a groin injury!
Will he be a Spurs player in the summer!

Agree0 Disagree0

At the end of the day, if we do not beat West Brom and end up 4th, or worse case 5th, then clearly over the season we have not been good enough to qualify. Let's face realty, we lost at home to Wigan, drew away at Stoke, and scraped a draw at home to Norwich and that is not good enough for the Champions League anyway. This season we have lost at relegated Blackburn drew at Bolton and lost at QPR. Add these results to the recent Wigan, Stoke and Norwich results and it is pretty obvious that tactically we just do not know how to beat the lesser teams.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people have no idea what support means.
I think having sold Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy and losing Wilshere for the whole season to injury we have done pretty well.
After the start we had to be going into the last game knowing a win will give us 3rd place and guaranteed champions league football ( for 15th (is it) straight year) is a great acheivement.
Add to that RVP in the form of his life and scoring (when he wants) shed loads of goals. Five against the spuds and chelsea and the fantastic win at the Emirates over Milan, where we almost pulled off the impossible.
No silverware, granted but lots to be positive about so FFS get behind the team, lets beat West Brom.
Welcome any new signings and a big thank you to anyone who leaves.
Come on you Gunners.
Mark.

I have just reread your post and realised you are an idiot.

We have not done well, Afc talk of progress, we have gone backwards over the last 5 years. If we finish 3rd, it is thru the fact that there are a lot of teams worse than us, not thru wengers skill. We have not looked like challenging for any of the trophies we have been in this season, Please do note cite the fact that Fabregas and Nasri left, that is our fault, we know Fabregas was gonna go and Nasri was likely to leave as they know the club has no real ambition to be winners, look what they have, and may win in the next couple of days, vindicating theior choices, being a realist does not mean people do not support the club they may have supported all their lives, If everyone buries their heads in the sand about how poor we have become we will carry on the same.

Watched some Brazil Highlights today and ive watched them all season.

I would love for us to sign Ganso! Doubt this will happen, but he's cheaper than Neymar and probably equal quality. Look at his 2 goals he got last night, both great and has an eye for passing.

Seen them on ssn. Immense player would fit perfectly in our team. Signed him on football manager think thats the only way i will see him in an arsenal shirt (i also have messi!)

Come on a w wake up at least bring 4 more top quality player like of m villa, Oliver garioud, belhanda, jan pathogen, vorm, hazard, . Gunner4ever

Believable26 Unbelievable26

What's triggered this post? The transfer window isn't even open and people are moaning, get a grip!

Jan pathogen - the germ-spreading Belgian defender!

Jan pathogen is a quality player, love that guy.

Dont understand this post really. We are having the MOST productive transfer period we have had in recent times and for some reason your still not happy. Podolski isnt an average player, m'Villa isnt an average player?!?!?!?! and maybe one more, we do not need to overhaul to squad compleletly as some are suggesting. Get a grip and take a break from being a pesimistic person.

Phil L.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have already signed a quality player, not quite sure what your problem is.Lets not moan about Wenger not signing quality players until the end of August,if nobody else is signed. For gods sake,it's only May.
Braintreegooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely Phil L there has to be an overhaul of the squad as were only allowed 25 squad members next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are you obsessed with hazard? The bloke is hardly world class and is touting himself like a whore. It's pathetic really considering podolski is our 4th winger. Wake up and smell the coffee would ya and stop posting complete c**p

Hi Ed's/Posters

Just a bit of a long shot really, was thinking what the chances would be to prise Mezut Ozil away from Madrid!? Most games I watch Madrid play he hardly ever seems to finish 90mins which must be really frustrating for someone with his talent.
He would slot into the CAM role perfect for us, and would create so much (not to mention the bond with Podolski, Merts, and Eisfield) I reckon a good £20-£25m bid would be enough and his wage demands shouldn't really be through the roof should they!?

Ads {Ed002's Note - I don't see Oezil necessarily being available in the summer but Liverpool and Manchester United may well be interested if he is - but Champions League qualification being achieved may be a pre-requisite for any move he makes. I am sure that there would be plenty of interest from elsewhere, not least Inter Milan who bid against Madrid to buy him originally, and Juventus. Whilst he had what was seen as a very good season last year, this season has been patchy at best with a lot of time on the bench. Real Madrid may listen to offers in the region of 25M euros or so.}

Believable11 Unbelievable17

Agree there, Depends how he is at the Euros. Although I'd prefer we get him before, as if he shines his price will rocket.

NG

Agree0 Disagree0

If anyones going to leave Madrid it will be Di Maria, no chance of Ozil leaving as his assist rate for Ronaldos goals is ridiculous and for that reason i cannot see him leaving plus he is a fab favourite.

Agree0 Disagree0

What am i reading from both the original poster and the ed?

Ozil has been consistently one of Madrid's best players the last 2 years. He has proven himself as one of the top creative midfielders in the world. Madrid's fans love him, the players love him (especially CRonaldo), and there are no available signings near his talent level who could replace him in his advanced midfield role. Come to think of it, only Barca's midfielders and maybe David Silva are better than Ozil.

Top talent performing well at a top club. He will not move.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was not saying he hasnt performed at all, and never said it was likely for him to leave...i started the post with "a long shot" and was just asking what the chances were of him leaving as he doesnt play a lot of 90 mins

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree with the geezer waxing lyrical. Ozil is a top top player. and the reason he gets subbed is because he's already helped put Madrid in a winning position and Mourinho's shutting down the shop

That would be perfect. in the world cup when Robben was injured he made the wings his own! could be persuaded because of Vanpersie and Ozzy bein dutch also.

On the Arsenal site Wenger has commented today that he expects very little transfer activity this summer due to the financial crisis & the 25 player rule. I think this is either naive or crafty. Firstly the crisis will not affect the likes of Chelsea & Man City who have extremely wealthy owners from spending, which in turn frees up funds for clubs receiving transfer income from them to use these funds to purchase players. Secondly, the 25 man rule has not stopped the likes of City owning more than 25 players & loaning the excess palyers out. I believe Wenger is preparing Arsenal fans not to expect many signings as we have a very full squad & have to get rid of 10 or so players. Realistically, next seasons squad will be:
G: Szczesny, Fabianski & Martinez
RB: Sagna & Jenkinson
LB: Gibbs & Santos
CB: Mertesacker, Koscielny, Vermaelen & Djourou
Mid: Song, Arteta & Coquelin
Mid: Wilshere ,Rosicky, Ramsey, Abu Diaby
Att Mid: Walcott, Oxlade C, Gervinho
Att: RVP & Podolski

That makes 23 players, but some still qualify using the under 21 rule.
We also have the following young players that Wenger may want to inlcude in the 1st team squad:
Frimpong (when fit), Joel campbell (work permit permitting), Afobe, Aneke, Henderson, Miquel, Bartley, Yennaris, Maiyachi & Eisfeld, etc.
That makes a total of 33 players.
Realistically I only see 1 (a defensive midfield player)maybe 2 (a forward) signings at a push and replacements if Fabianski or RVP depart. I hardly think there will be a queue for Fabianski!

Believable16 Unbelievable6

Would be good to loan ramsey out to a low prem team or high championship team then we can have another player in da squad :)

Arsene Wenger on transfers this summer;

"Our job will be focused on inside [matters] now we have Podolski. That means to get Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby back in a healthy situation and then I believe we have quite a big squad. It will be [our intention] to trim a little bit and if possible add one or two players.

"I believe that the summer will be quiet for many reasons," he added. "First of all in England you have a 25-man limited squad number. Secondly the financial situation all over Europe is really bad and in some countries they have other worries than football. Therefore I expect it to be quiet.

"In our job, and this is like a football match, it is not completely predictable. But on the vibes I get even from the clubs who are big spenders, they all want to slow down."

---------------------------

Does this sound like a man on the verge of spending 20 million+ for m'vila ?

I know wenger doesnt like to talk about who he buys, but I dont see any benefit from being so plain and open about NOT buying players for financial reasons - unless he really has no intention to buy players.

Diaby is our new player next year, untill he is injured again!

Believable24 Unbelievable6

Jeez! Wenger really knows how to lift the troops.

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is for real and Wenger does not think he needs to strenghten the team let alone the sqaud then im afraid its good bye Mr Wenger ,

Ramsey needs to go out on loan to get his speed back , diaby just needs to go and release the wage , Far to many average players at Arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

I suppose we should all be grateful that AW didn't mention Denilson in the same breath as Diaby!

Alibo, Belfast

Agree0 Disagree0

How often have we heard the jaargen from Mr Wenger,
It is quite clear that man city and united are going to spend this summer and we are still yards behind them in terms of points.
if we are to seriouslty contend for a trophy the squad needs trimming and quality players adding.
Diaby will no come back fit and if he does will instantly get injured again.

I hope he is only playing a bluff game.

Please spend and win us something this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

What is he supposed to say, he is not going to muck up any transfers in progress.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep. apart from Poldi it seems to be a dissappointing transfer window again

Stefan

Agree0 Disagree0

I have been saying for months that Diaby has to go, there is no room in a 25 man squad for a player who has been at the club for nearly 8 years and played less than 120 games due to persistant injury, good player but sorry - bye bye Abu. Wenger allways finds a reason not to spend the CLUBS money, please realise that unless he sells, he cannot buy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Should be be telling you who he wants to buy ..to make us happy...?! come on...

What if he said ...we will buy and we end not getting our targets...how would you feel then...

people...running a football club, managing a squad and most importantly dealing in the transfer market is not as simple as it used to be 14 years ago... television rights, image rights, bonuse structure has changed all that...so most managers like to keep their cards close to their chest WHILST managing people's expectation about the transfer acitvities

Agree0 Disagree0

Ifind it laughable that our emotions (as fans or just observers) are so easily swayed when it comes to transfer dealings...it is a game of poker...people calm down
ES

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger would not comment on transfers a few days before such a massive day.. that would be very stupid on his part..
it would disrupt the players he also won't give any indication of who and when he wants to buy.. as previous years because as always teams follow us... and try and buy who we go for.. e.g mata
Batch

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt he say earlier in the season he would spend money and bring in new players.

In Arsene we are not sure.

NG

Agree0 Disagree0

If its unwise to speak of transfers, why is it wise to speak of not buying? Since when does it look good to say 'we wont buy'

Unless the arsenal players know differently, im pretty sure our star guys are going to see wengers message and think 'great...we struggle for top 4 this season...why should i stay longer'

Agree0 Disagree0

I would really take this with a pinch of salt- he may very well have a point about the economy, etc and clubs slowing down... but that doesn't mean wenger doesn't intend to add some needed quaility to our squad- arsenal, on the whole are in pretty good shape financially and certainly there will be clubs spending big- you know how he likes to play everything down, I wouldn't worry just yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

How can people turn on Arsene so quickly?!?

Would you all prefer to let any of our competitors in England or the rest of Europe to know that we are in the market to spend, and spend well. How does anyone think that is going to help us to get the targets he may well be looking at!

Everyone says we buy cheap players who are not good enough. What about Kos, he was cheap, came from Ligue 1, has been awesome this season, is now pretty nailed on for the French team at the Euros, is he not good enough?

What about the Ox, people think he hasn't got as future as he is mediocre?

Perhaps some people should look at prospects such as Joel Campbell.

Or then there is Miyachi. Did anyone bother to look at how well he played on his loan.

Lets add Podolski, as superb buy, and without us having to pay inflated prices!

I cannot fathom how true fans are finding fault with Arsene. He has pulled the first coup already and we have not even closed the season out (Podolski). Once we know our CL fates for 2012 / 2013 then I am sure that things will become more clear. I don't think an interest in M'Vila is exactly sitting on our laurels. He is a fine prospect even at this stage of his career and looks set to become something very special.

If people could be bothered to read his statement, he says that due to the financial crisis that the transfer market will be quieter, not that we will not enter. And this does seem obvious. Most clubs have debt that they have to pay off. Most people are not going to have massive funds to buy everyone / anyone. And last but not least, those with deep pockets (Man C / Man U and others) can still only buy a fixed number of players for their squad for next year. So it is not like they can just go and by and buy.

On another note, anyone think it is interesting that when Pistol Pep resigned, that Arsene stated that he left too early. Arsene goes upstairs and Pep to come in?? Now that is a rumour, and one that has had more than a few murmours.

In Arsene I absolutely Trust!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree whole hartedly with last post. the miopic girls all in a fluster above have a wide range of clubs to support who buy their way to the title. The form of the latter half of the season would have seen us right up there with the mancs

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the last two posts. However i also agree that if its wengers policy to be "crafty" when talking about not spending heavily then he shouldnt say anything at all. RVP is looking for reassurances that Arsenal can improve the squad with quality players to actually challenge for cups. Comments like this could have adverse affects in exactly what the club is trying to achieve (namely retaining our 'star' players and attracting potential ones)

Agree0 Disagree0

Nonsense...RVP sees wenger everyday...do you really think he will be getting reassUrances from what he says in public as opposed to hat he says to him in private(if anything at all)...come on people stop jumping up and down and do your job....support...transfer window is not open yet
No wonder people say that WE ARE ONE OF THE WORSt FANS in Europe....let's think before we post

ES

Agree0 Disagree0

It's people like 'in Arsene I absolutely trust' that are a menace to our club. How much longer do we have to listen to the 'Arsene knows best' brigade, when white clearly he has turned into a deluded despot who couldn't give a stuff what the fans think. Top 4 is now seen as a trophy as described. Y Ivan the idiot. If the flapping penguin thinks Diaby is the answer to our calls for fresh
meat, then he needs to find another club stupid enough to let him ruin it because of his own selfishness. Unless this addressed this close season, we are in danger of spiralling out of control. Who would blame RVP for wanting to see if he grass is greener elsewhere. We are, and have been a club in decline for many years now. Time for the flapping penguin to go for a swim - somewhere else

Would be ideal if he announced he was staying before the WBA game to give the team and us a huge lift.
