Honestly don't get why people are getting so hyper about this Cavani rumours. This is Arsenal. Our biggest signing before the summer was Arshavin. If you think we're going to spend 30 million on one player then you know nothing of the club you support.

Believable82 Unbelievable4

Jovetic is better than Cavani

Agree0 Disagree0

Jovetic is as expensive as well...

Let's be realisitic guys. Think of an affordable player...

Llorente is a likely target as he will go for cheap as like theo he has let his contract run. Another spainard" makes sense. could you imagine the link up play with llorente, cazorla, arteta? crazy.
lets just hope juventus dont beat us to him

Agree1 Disagree0

I dunno why u think the 'link up play' of llorente, cazorla and Arteta would be 'crazy'. Because they are all spanish?

We already have 2 versions of llorente at Arsenal, namely Giroud and Chamack. We dont need llorente, and we wont get him.

Agree0 Disagree0

After selling van persie for 24m and song for 15m we could get cavani out of that money which is over 30m

After browsing through this page for some months now, i think it's time i've had my say. As i work for AFC - close links with the reserves - i thought it was time to put things into perspective.

In regards to the first team and its lack of success this season, some of you so-called supporters need to get a grip on reality.

We'll take the Aaron Ramsey situation first. I cannot believe the amount of abuse he gets when i sit in the stands. The poor lad is still trying to regain full fitness, confidence and rhythm since his awful leg break. He needs games to get all three sorted. These will come in time...Tomas Rosicky was a good example of this towards the latter part of last season. He was our best player by miles towards the end...why, because he had continuous games, which helped build his confidence, rhythm and fitness. The same will happen to Aaron. Before his injury, he was superb, a real find and definately one for the future. He is still that player, so please stop the abuse, get behind him and give the lad some encouragement. To give you some sort of perspective when players are coming back from a injury, may i suggest reading a footballers autobiography. This will give you a good insight on how difficult it is to regain full fitness etc.

Now, to the lack of incomings & outgoings. Firstly, how easy do you think it is, to get of the likes of Bendtner, Squillaci, Denilson and Chamakh of the books ? This is not Championship Manager ! Chamakh for instance - he signed a very lucrative deal when he joined Arsenal. He would like the chance of rejoining Bordeaux, but they cannot even get close to we pay him. Even if he goes out on loan, it is doubtful if they could afford him. He is desperate to play games, but it isn't easy to get these types of players off the books. Same goes for Bendtner and Denilson. Apart from letting them see out their contract, the only other option is to pay them off and let them go on a free. That won't happen, believe me !

On to the lack of quality signings. Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud are superb signings. It just goes to show that you don't have to spend £20-£30 million plus to find quality players. Ok, we could do with a few more, but it is difficult to find the right players for the right money. Yes, we have a wage cap, and quite rightly so. If this means missing out on the likes of Eden Hazard, then so be it. Greedy players we do not need. If £90 grand a week ain't enough for you !!

The January transfer window will see some movement at AFC. I'm not at liberty to give out names, but there are two negotiations currently going on between clubs and players ( both abroad ). Whether these turn out to be positive ( in terms of signing them ), we'll have to wait and see. Rumours going round the club at the moment, is the possibility of a return of a former player. Again, i can't give out the player in question, but it won't take a genuis to work out who it his.

So gents / ladies, i know we are stuttering at the moment, but please be positive in the chants etc, and get behind the club and Mr Wenger. The signs are there, we just need a few scrappy wins to get us going ( like last season ), starting with beating Spurs on saturday. That should give us confidence to go on a decent run. If not, it isn't the end of the world. The season has still a long way to go, and we have quite a decent chance of going to Wembley in the Capital One cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

A great post. Get behind the team. Some Arsenal fans are embarrassing themselves with the hostility they show their team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on post.
The team needs supportng, if some so called arsenal fans want to get on the players cases we don't need that, there are plenty of spurs supporters who do that already, maybe you should go join them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Terrible post in my humble opinion. Really uninspiring and goes no way toward Arsenal FC justifying the extortion that is season ticket prices. Its cheaper to get a season ticket to watch chelsea - who have a smaller stadium! and watch players on 200k a week, so when you come out with 'its not easy to get...' - actually, yes it is. You find someone you want, and you spend the money the fans have given you, to get him. If you cant do that, you must justify it, and if you cant justify it, leave your job and let someone else who can, take your place.

Far too many excuses coming from Arsenal at the moment...and if you are a genuine Employee of the club, it just shows that this excuse making mentality is endemic.

I get behind the team win or lose, but I certainly dont get behind your way of thinking.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

Excellent and proper quote there, I can't go at the moment as am so peed off with the moaning and abuse at our own players,( Arron espesially) the side needs support at the moment so for god sake lets have some

Agree0 Disagree0

You really haven't got a clue to how a football club is run, have you Daniel. May i suggest you write to Mr Wenger, and give him some of your advice to how to buy players, because you seem to think it is a piece of cake. Let me assure you, it certainly is not. Santi Corzola is a prime example of that, as we had been in talks with his representatives & club for at least 12 months, possibly a tad more. Apart from the mad few hours before the deadline, transfers are usually long winded affairs. Like i said in my first post, this is not Championship Manager, to where you can just buy a player with a click of a button. I don't expect somebody of your naivety to understand that though.

As for comparing us with Chelsea - Google Mr Abramovich and find out exactly how much he is worth . I think you'll find he has a few bob, hence why he can afford to pay £200 grand a week to his players. Nowt to do with gate receipts, just extremely deep pockets. Unfortunately, we haven't got that kind of luxury, and to be honest, i don't think i would want AFC run like that anyway. For instance, what do you think would happen, if Mr Abramovich decides enough is enough, and walks out. Chelsea would be in a right mess, and so would Man City if their owners decide to call it quits. At least we can be proud ( well i am ) of how AFC is run.

As a genuine employee and love every minute of it, i hear comments like yours at every home game, regarding the season ticket prices. I admit, they are on the expensive size. However, some of the gate receipts goes on running the stadium, not ploughed into the first team. Having such a great pitch doesn't come cheap, nor having one of the best stadiums in the world either. And i'm guessing the heating and lighting bills for the pitch itself, is rather large !

Just one last point - the press continues to berate the club, in terms of not winning any trophies for 7 years. Some fans have jumped on the band wagon and want Mr Wenger to resign. Can i just point out, that Man UTD didn't win ANYTHING for 20 odd years. I know the vast majority of the fans want instant success, but it takes time. The club is in a great shape for the future...our time will come, that i'm 100% sure. {Ed025's Note - really good post that mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if we are Googling individual wealth then you will find the following: Stan Kroenke $2.3B, Ann Walton Kroenke (his missus) $4.5B and one Alisher Usmanov $18.1B. There is access to plenty of wonga there if only the board would choose to use it (Kroenke/Walton money) or make changes to allow the wealth that p*sses all over Chelsea (Usmanov's) to be used. So it is actually down to how the board chooses for the club to be run.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hello mr employee of Arsenal, as you are saying our time will come soon but don't you think if abrahamovich or sheikh of city leaves some others will come in and we will be at the same place top 4 finish. And just think now if another sheikh comes in and buy Everton or Newcastle then we won't even finish in the top 4 anymore. That could be a blessing for us though. As arsenal fan we are not asking for a wholesale change, just asking for like for like, when rvp left we should have got a quality striker and for song a quality dm thats all. We don't want city or Chelsea style of spending. It's the final touch arsene is not buying. Otherwise we would have been different team and competing with the best.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't comment on why Mr Wenger hasn't spent. I guess there is money available...how much though, only he and the board now. What i do know, is that the club have a very stronger transfer policy, and won't be bullied into paying over the odds, whether in terms of fees or wages. If that means not competing with the likes of Man City and Chelsea, then so be it. I do think Man UTD are a different animal to the rest of the league, as they are coached & managed by the best. Yes, they have spent a few bob, but nothing to what the other two have.

In regards to if the Chelsea & Man City owner ( s ) pull out, will others come in ? Probably, but with both having such a huge wage bill, i doubt if there will be a stampede.

As for not signing a top striker to replace RVP. Do you not rate Giroud ? Personally, i think he is more than an adequate replacement, if not better. Still early days, and RVP certainly didn't rip up any trees when he first signed, but the signs are there for him to be a top class striker. If he carries on improving the way he is, RVP will be a distant memory. As for Song, towards the end, he was a bad apple i'm afraid, hence why the transfer went through so quickly. I didn't get to see or hear him very often, but i'm glad he's gone. If that means the team are worse of without him, then so be it. We can well do without that kind of negativity amongst the players. We have enough of them in the stands ! In terms of why we didn't sign a replacement for Song...we already had enough midfielders on the books, and to bring in quality ( like M' Villa ), a few of them had to be moved on. That isn't easy, as it has to be a mutual thing between the player and management. If a player is still under contract and has no desire to leave, there isn't much the club can do. Yes, he can be transfer listed, but at the end of the day, he is well within his rights to turn down any offer that comes his way. David Batty was a prime example of this. On a huge contract ( in those days anyway ) at Leeds, refused to leave, made to train with the reserves then the kids until his contract run out. I guess the lad had no ambition, so had a very easy last few years doing sod all basically.

Today in the office, we have transfer news for January. Obviously, no names for this, but one in and one out on the striker front. And unless somebody knows different, it definately won't be Huntelaar to come in.

You people seem sure chelsea and man citys owners will walk away one day,i dont think so.Arsenal where very close to signing juan Mata, but dragged their feet again.Chris Samba, when Tv5 was injured all season.... and i think this cost us any chance of wining he title that season.....and the fulham keeper.......Arsene is a great manager but is too stubborn and has to much power at the club. All the board care about is 4th place because thats a massive financial insentive......and as for man utd not spending much compared to city and chelsea......what about the player who cost them 31m to be left out for the whole of last season.....our record signing is still Arsharvin at 15M...Hill wood is just like his father Denis....no ambition....he questioned the Bergkamp signing and he wasnt the one who brought in wenger, that was Dein.....if Arsenal feel finishing third or forth is such a feat...print it in the program next to the 10 facups and 13 league titles won......km

I have a mate who works for AP here in the States and he said he is beginning to hear inside rumours of a straight swap Sturridge for Walcott in Jan. Doubt it will happen, but.....thoughts?

There will be riots on the streets of highbury if this happened

Riots? Why? We were after him before and he is technically a great player in my opinion. Walcott is not good enough, again, in my opinion.

For me, the most pressing question and one thing that should decide our immediate future - has the Board REALLY made big funds available to M. Wenger and he hasn't used it? Or have they not made the money available and M. Wenger is doing Moyes-like miracles on a "small (define "small"!) budget. O would love the know the real TRUTH!?

Believable34 Unbelievable2

He spent over £30m in the summer- if that's what you call small then I'll be surprised

Agree0 Disagree0

It is small considering we made roughly £50 million off player sales/loans

Agree0 Disagree0

O found the truth long ago when she submitted to Sir Stephen and his coterie.

ClockEndClockEndGiveUsaWave

Agree0 Disagree0

The reality is that £30m is not a lot in the current climate. Especially so when that falls short of what some clubs spend on one player! There is no doubt that the club needs to make some substantial investment on the playing side (not the prospect side). I doubt however that there financial model will not be changing in the short term!

dzeko to arsenal in january?? maybe just maybe

Believable16 Unbelievable54

Won't happen as he is flourishing at city.

He's dug City out of a hole a few times this season - why would they sell him?

12 Nov 2012 00:04:27
We couldn't afford him! And stubborn Wenger has given us Giroud. We can dream but this is the reality....with Chamakh for back-up.

Dzeko unhappy at city so maybe a move could be happening

Ed, any truth in the cavani rumours? If so how confident are you that he'd arrive in Jan? {Ed002's Note - I do not expect Cavani to move to Arsenal in January.}

Believable31 Unbelievable8

Not chance for Cavani with transfer money and wages - way too high for Arsenal.

it's time for some changes! i want a new manager to tune the system to suit our players, to take a clear line whether player x will be in his plans or not, to use the squad better (playing the same XI over and over again with some playing out of position is not good usage of the resources we have) and to say things straight to the board if he wants new faces to the team for example! i want changes. just sick of this.

whether wenger should leave completely or not i can't make up my mind. ideally he'd be a sporting director, leaving management to a new manager. however i'm afraid if wenger would stay and take a different job, he would still take part to management, messing things up. the man could be great as a youth coach if i'm honest.

big respect for wenger but i don't think he has any tricks left anymore. he could be doing magnificent job with shoe string budget, we don't know. anyway the way he picks the team and makes decisions during games have left me wondering how much better someone else could do. i hate to say this but i think wenger lacks ambition. he's selling our stars to keep the club in a healthy position. but can't we afford to spend at least once during a transfer window? could we have afforded to keep van persie? against his wish or not, he would have banged goals for us this season. now selling him could be a difference between us winning a trophy or not.

board maybe don't have balls to admit they don't let wenger to spend. but wenger doesn't have balls to put pressure on them! that's a problem.

Believable42 Unbelievable22

I want a new bentley but doest mean to say it would be a better car to drive than my ford focus , i bet you was one of those horrible little teenagers eh i want i want all the time . trust the manager that we have he has not steered us to wrong so far chris in london .

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, let's get Mark Hughes in eh?

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think the answer is move Wenger to the board or to a sporting director role. The philosophy is embedded in Arsenal now and suits the board. So not spending money isnt going to change with a new manager.
Lets face it what manager would you bring in? Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea took that approach and it didnt work because other managers simply arent good enough. Maybe someone like Pep Guardiola could do a great job but could he do it with no money? I dont think so

If we want success we need money pumped into the 1st team same as chelsea, city and to an extent Man Utd.
