arteta is on hes way to arsenal to replace cesc..scottish gunner

Believable6 Unbelievable18

Arteta is injured and has lost his way the last year or so after that bad injury he got

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta - great player - to old for Wenger

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes injury prone..even more of a reason for him to join arsenal.

A reporter for Spanish daily Público reports Arsenal and Valencia have come to a agreement over Juan Mata.

Believable8 Unbelievable19

Not according to Wenger via the mirror

Agree0 Disagree0

Isnt that a portugese newspaper

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't he say ignore the papers

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes,they agreed that he wasn't coming Clown

Agree0 Disagree0

If any of you watched the press conference you will see and also in his others how he likes to mess with the press, twist around stories I find it funny as an onlooker but not as a fan

Agree0 Disagree0

Although i dont believe we are signing mata, remember that aw also said we werent signing aa23 and we did, so we cant believe everything he says. aw likes all transfer business to be conducted quietly behind closed doors, which, is obviously very frustrating for us fans but thats the way it is we just have to sit and wait till we announce a press conference.
In the meantime letss get behind the boys who ARE playing today and stuff the geordies.

gtidie

Agree0 Disagree0

Sometimes people seem to believe what the newspapers are saying, at other times totally dismiss it- remember the conference yesterday...? All is good cause no one is leaving...yeah right.

ARSENAL HAVE SIGNED JOEL CAMPBELL

Although a CB+mata+Jadson would be nice

Believable18 Unbelievable6

How much did this youth cost 12million

Agree0 Disagree0

Only 900k.. can reach up to 1mil.due to bonuses..
good signing than AOC imo.
but the CB need to be bought after this.
enough with the young talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

"How much did this youth cost 12million"

Nice try. Campbell will cost 900k, rising to 1.2m.

Agree0 Disagree0

1million but do you really care

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this the best we can do?

Agree0 Disagree0

Remind me how many professional games of football he has played

That's 4 this transfer window, how many more to come?

Believable14 Unbelievable3

darren lewis (the mirror) Interesting news for Arsenal fans re: Mata in tomorrow's papers

Believable7 Unbelievable15

Can you elorate now mr lewis please? Or do we have to and wait and buy the mirror tomorrow...?

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not him posting it on here, its what he said on he's twitter

Agree0 Disagree0

He said not buying a def or mata

Agree0 Disagree0

It's probably the Joel Campbell signing that he's talking about that everyone is going to wake up too. Weeeee.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2011 20:31:52
The rumours doing the round is the reason the transfers been delayed is that Arsenal had a non-disclosure agreement, i.e. if info was released prior to transfer there'll be consequences. Apparently Cesc told his friends, i.e. Pique and Valdes who then went onto twitter. So now Arsenal may be kicking up a storm and telling them to shove it or pay more (if it was part of the NDA).

Could be a load of crap, but the thought of Pique's face going from pure joy of being able to masticate with Cesc to that of utter despair like the **** he is is too wonderful to ignore.

O and Joel Campbell has just signed
Eman.

Believable18 Unbelievable3

12 Aug 2011 18:15:56
Just out of interest, how many players do you think we will be signing before the transfer window shuts...?

1-2 agree 3+ disagree

Believable19 Unbelievable20

I think 1 or 2 if we are lucky, why is it though on the eve of the season starting we still haven't got a settled squad and all of our ins and outs sorted?? Surely we are starting tomorrow with a weaker squad than last season, no Clichy no Nasri and no Cesc. Would Fergie contemplate losing Evra, Nani and Rooney and not replace them ready for the start of the season? I just need a big cuddle and for someone to tell me it's going to ok by the way Arsenal 2-1 tomorrow just, RVP double.

Munnster.

Agree0 Disagree0

0 if you ask me

Agree0 Disagree0

Campbell has now signed for Arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

Well you are wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Joel Cambell is pretty much a done deal, just has to be finalised, so there is one. And people will moan he is young, but f*** me he can score.

lol latest rumors on twitter,from a gooner who has got lot things right. nasri going to city and tevez coming to arsenal in a swap deal with city paying half the wages

{Ed022's Note - Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. That is all.}

Believable11 Unbelievable32

Amazing.... is Pep Guardiola also coming in as wengers no2?

{Ed022's Note - Jose Mourinho will be brought in as kit man. Vik Ackers is going onto the board in an attempt to stir things up. He will continue to wear shorts all year round...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Whos twitter is this on?? Yours?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed this should be in dodgy rumors lol

{Ed022's Note - Its true. Its all over twitter. It must be true!!}

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard fergies going to coach the arsenal ladies as well with a view to playing for them

Agree0 Disagree0

If everything on twitter came true we would have one hell off a team Tevez,De Rossi,Benzema, probably Nani too

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal to step down from competing in football and become a basketball team. You heard it here first.

{Ed022's Note - Never. The team is too short. Perhaps rounders might be a good sport to master?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Nah we'd be fine get Diaby on the court.

{Ed022's Note - Ok new game...who else is tall enough for Arsenal Basketball Team...?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Been saying for ages we need to get swp in, his pace is amazing and skill, we need him badly, perfect fit.

{Ed022's Note - Should have signed Wrighty's boy a 2-3yrs ago. Might still have it in his locker but I can't see him coming to us now..}

Agree0 Disagree0

PG: Wilshere
SG: Gervinho
SF: Vermaelen
PF: Arsene "Big Bird" Wenger
C: Djourou

coach: Eboue

(Eboue and Arshavin can trade places every game)

{Ed022's Note - Love Eboue as manager! Think he'd be hilarious! What about big Wojciech? No place for Shez??}

Agree0 Disagree0

PG: Walcott
SG: Ramsey
SF: Vermaelen
PF: Bendtner
C: Vela

Coach: Squilacci

Agree0 Disagree0

Well its in the paper today lol, so perhaps not as crazy as it sounds- although realistically I cannot see this deal happening...a loan deal perhaps? hmm even that is clutching at straws- IF it happened though, it would be a real coup for sure.

Wenger has done it again, pulled off a transfer that nobody was expecting and this is a good one.

We have secured a 14m deal with Everton for Tim Cahill.
Talk about a surprise. Experienced PL player and will replaced Fabregas.

This does rule out any move for Jagielka or Baines though.

{Ed022's Note - That's not the Cahill anyone was expecting to rock up at The Emirates...}

Believable6 Unbelievable37

Is this true? Be good if it is. Has he signed or is it just a long list of potential cesc replacements we are linked with?
Romford Gunner

{Ed022's Note - Nothing official and I feel it could be a name picked out of a hat. There will be 100s of names coming our way over the next couple of weeks...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Complete nonsense, he is 31 years of age

Agree0 Disagree0

I like T.Cahill but he would be useless at Arsenal.. as his best assit is goals from set pieces and as all arsenal fans know we are RUBBISH at attacking and esp defending Set pieces.

Agree0 Disagree0

I played on the school b team as a left back and a goal keeper in 5 a side tournaments. Apparently I'm cesc's replacement even though I'm 43, a diabetic and have had a heart and lung transplant (all true by the way) . They got me for a new fiat punto and I get fifty quid a game. Well that's all I wanted I said I was just proud to pull on the red and white. It's true honest I've just read it on Wikipedia :o)

Agree0 Disagree0

Oops sorry Ed forgot to put my name on my last post about Wikipedia saying I'd signed for arsenal. Romford Gunner

Agree0 Disagree0

Someone beat me to it - I have just been scouted by Llansantffraid Fc reserves (you heard me) ... turns out the random 5 yr old watching the practice with his mum was actually one of Wenger's scouts. Someone misprinted 'Raz' as 'T-e-v-e-z'.

It's me everyone.

Arsenal target Jadson promises transfer news at the start of next week.
source:goal.com

Believable19 Unbelievable13

Dont want him
We need better
Hazard and Mata But will never happen

Agree0 Disagree0

Why don't we want him? He is a midfielder in a team that has won their championship the last two seasons and they got through to the semi-finals in this years CL. He is a winner, not one in our current team has been a winner for 6 years, apart from Emirates Cup that is....

Agree0 Disagree0

We may sign him but he won't get a permit so if this does happen it's a waste

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2011 16:05:11
To all you depressed/ confused/ angry/ fed up/ whining Gooners...
I feel and understand your frustrations, but surely you know deep down that Wenger has a plan?
A big signing is coming in very soon, the final details are being worked out...
It is not anyone we have been talking about, since Wenger handles his business behind closed doors, a true class act. By the way, 3-1 Arsenal tomorrow.

Stay Positive
Trinidad Gooner

Believable23 Unbelievable11

So cause we care for our team we are whiners?? How do you know this??

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol a class act would've concluded all his business weeks ago and be concentrating on the season ahead not making arsenal fans worried and unclear as to who we will see wearing red and white next season. AW always apparently has a plan pity his pans havent worked for 5/6 seasons. AW will sign Dann and then we might get news of someone to join in Jan as per usual he is making a pigs ear of this and it's all a mess atm we are not settled like we should be, the players dont know who is actually part of the squad anymore
Eboue, Bendtner, Almunia, Diaby, Vela, Cesc, Nasri all still not resolved USELESS. And as for the new squad numbers what a joke ive just read em, Diaby never plays and is still no2 which should be Gibbs, Traore should be 22, Lansbury should be 28 and afobe and eastmond still have number in the 40's, Miyachi is 31 REALLY Almunia no1 are you serious.

Arsene thanks for what you've done but please ask the board to appoint a new manager and give Pat Rice his P45 before we turn on you and AFC fans havent turned on a manager in a long long time

HELLO MARK HUGHES WANNA JOB, HERE'S YA NUMBER 2 IT'S STEVE BOULD OR WOULD YOU LIKE RAY WILKINS.

North Bank Elite

Agree0 Disagree0

No, not saying everyone is a whiner, far from actually.. us Arsenal fans are very passionate but many of us tend to complain and point the finger once the goings get tough. I said I understand the mindset after 6 seasons no trophies and Fabregas and Nasri being linked with departures. I'm saying that people may have hinches, such as myself, but nobody actually knows what Wenger is doing and thinking right now and that is why I would not trade him for ANY other manager in the world. In Wenger we trust.

Trinidad Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol even better Wengers plan.............

Scott Dann - BCFC have confirmed that they have not even given permission for him to talk to us USELESS

Agree0 Disagree0

Ever thought that Wenger's plans do not work out because he is competing against teams with twice as many resources as we have? Wenger is trying to do things the right way instead of Ferguson and Mancini who riddle their clubs with debt in the name of trophies...
Embarassment to football. In Wenger we trust.
Trinidad Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Mark hughes to arsenal? yeh cus he was a huge success at man city with treble the amount of money wenger has ever had to spend wernt he

Agree0 Disagree0

The only thing Wenger seems to be planning for is a battle to secure 4th spot.
Its by no means sure we will ge that either IF you are realistic like me.
I think he is in denial again and this just might be the season when his attitude bites us in the bum.

Agree0 Disagree0

North bank elite - totally agree. Let's see who disagrees in three weeks when we're out of CL and have taken one point from three games. Sorry Mr Wenger, I always had the faith, but you have lost ALL credibility now. Forget the 'who will replace him' chat, his race is over. I'm not sure I can watch the impending embarrassment of a season we're about to endure. Leave quietly Mr W and appoint someone that can handle buying star names

Agree0 Disagree0

North Ban k Elite - You really think that Mark Hughes would have Arsenal competing in the top 4 and Champions League..... you really know what you are talking about then.....

Arsenal have had a shock bid for Damien Mozika from Bury turned down.

SSN announced it was an unnamed club but I can guarantee you that it was Arsenal.
Don't worry, it wasn't as a direct replacement for cesc or samir but as a squad player.
He is French and would have been a typical Wenger signing. Its unlikely Aresenal will put a further bid in.

Believable3 Unbelievable24

SSN is reporting that their chairman rebuffed a bid from another club of similar stature and if a bigger club came calling they would let the player know and not stand in his way.

{Ed022's Note - Pat Rice was due to retire at the end of last season but has postponed his retirement until June 2012. Probably pub talk but Bould has been mentioned as a replacement for next summer...}

He signed for Arsenal on 12/08/11 for a reported £8 million [1] although getting a UK work permit might be a problem as he has not played the required amount of international games over the past two years. From Wikipedia

{Ed022's Note - Seriously people Wikipedia is one of the worst sites for this EVER! Anyone and I do mean ANYONE can edit the page. You see each section has an edit button. Click it and try for yourself...}

Believable0 Unbelievable15

Ed, 'anyone' isnt completely accurate. Lots of high profile pages are locked for internal editing only. Yes, maybe Jadson's page is open to anyone for editing, just thought id make a point :)

Yeah would love to sign Fab back but he's heart is set on Barcelona he wouldn't have the same impact anymore :( unfortunately.

I might go and sign us Jaun Mata and Eden Hazard though.....

quote from ssn; "the midfielder is travelling to link up with his new team-mates ahead of the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid."

Funny how on the arsenal website pic from today, cesc is there training with the whole arsenal team including Nasri. Dnt believe anything until you see it on the arsenal website

Believable19 Unbelievable3

I believe the fact that Cesc is going, the fact he is on the training field is irrelevant, the chances are as they have a game tomorrow they were on a light(ish) morning session. What has stopped him travelling this afternoon as the stories only really broke after 12:00 that he is travelling across. I would also like to point out that Bendtner is on the training pitch and its a well known fact he will be leaving us truth that pictures paint a story, maybe just not the real one.

According to sky sports..

Arsenal starlet Carlos Vela looks poised for a loan deal to Spain with Real Sociedad and Zaragoza vying for his signature.

Ed: what do you reckon?

while Vela has never commanded a first team spot yet I thought he would have been in contention a bit more this season, esp if Bentdner goes as expected.

Many thanks - keep up the good work

Believable16 Unbelievable4

We should not be loaning Vela out for GODS SAKE WENGER. He needs to play for US because he is our second best striker who actually gets used as a striker FML.

First Bartley now Vela what next?

{Ed022's Note - Ramsey loaned back to Cardiff to get some much needed experience...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol squillachi & almunia to spain to find there form and wiltshere to play with under 18s again as he isnt ready....nice one AW what a boss.

oh btw we have kids who cant even get into a spanish 2nd division side which we have been loaning for 4 years+ WENGER PLEASE RELEASE THEM LEEEEET THEM GOOOOOOO

Expect to see Jadson signed as Cesc's replacement, Mata deal is dead after IG and Wenger didn't stump up the cash. Hazard to replace Nasri sadly isn't going to happen. Both admired by Wenger are Honda or Shinji Kagawa

Believable7 Unbelievable12

Wouldn't be surprised if Wenger bought Honda and/or Kagawa to join Miyaichi in order to give Arsenal a strong Eastern Asia presence. that way Arsenal would capture fans from the largely untapped market of Asian fans. sure, they aren't the best purchases but it would make Arsenal a hell of a profit and as we all know that comes way before winning trophies.

-Bitter Gooner
(by the way, i do believe Honda and Kagawa are actually fantastic players)

guillem ballague:Interesting: Arsenal hanging on for a deal. Im afraid the cellebrations from Barcelona were premature and that must have hurt Arsenal board. Arsenal could delay the deal

{Ed022's Note - What Ballague got it wrong? Again? Say it aint so?! What a person...}

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Ballague does get wrong a lot of the time,but in the long run he is going 2 be right.Cesc IS going and so is nasri,eboue and bendtner.Wenger has made himself look a MUG, saying no-one is leaving then then 4 players go.Wenger is deluded

Bring it on Gooners.

I've been in a woeful mood for last couple of days but I still have faith in our team, we are quality, we the only club in the world with The before our name ever....

Newcastle 2 - 4 arsenal

demba ba and new captain collocini to score, the latter after some scrappy post-corner penalty area pinball. RVP, walcott, arshavin and the verminator for us.

speaking of newcastle, does anyone remember when steven taylor was good and didnt keep getting lengthy injuries? anyone think he would still be a good one for AW to target? Better than dann, samba and has more potential than cahill IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

Newcastle 3 Arsenal 1. There I said it. Arsenal are a club in crisis. Like seriously look at our squad. Even with Cesc and Nasri it wasn't good enough.

{Ed022's Note - You better be a Newcastle fan or worse...a spud!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone here bet with ladbrokes online? I am quickly discovering they are pretty whack.

ED you said score 2-0, RVP to score first is 40/1 on Will Hill. On Ladbrokes it is 25/1 what am I doing seriously

{Ed022's Note - Bill Hill always have better odds in my experience. You proved it yourself with the post above.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cesc to come to his senses and knock in a 50 yard flying header straight from the bench (the 50 yards being how far he flew)

It's cool, I bid my last remaining funds (50 pence) on that outcome, looking at a 13 return. Gonna sign up to Mr Hill with immediate effect and indulge in 5 of playtime. Play safe kids.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

12 Aug 2011 14:47:03
I've just been looking at the Arsenal website for the squad numbers this season.
First things first, Almunia has been given the number1 shirt and scheszney number 13. I still think scheszney will start against newcastle though (this is probably obvious)

All of our new signings have been given numbers too, including miyachi 31. There are numbers 9, 12 and 22 still empty.
I think Wengers needs to, and will fill all of these spaces to have the biggest squad possible submitted by the deadline.

Fabregas is imminent but so is a midfield replacement, possibly Jadson or Mata and a Defensive player is also going to be announced by the end of the day, this is likely to be Vertonghen.

Any new signings will not play against Newcastle but will meet up with the squad over the weekend.

Gooneremo

Believable7 Unbelievable5

Hope your right about Vertonghen mate but apparently Inter Milan are now enterring the fray

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we will see two signings within a week. Wenger is smart so I don't think he will let two of our best midfielders go and not have anyone lined up. A defender and a midfielder. Look like aoc is nasri's replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post hope jv does come in would be great with tv as played together both at ajax and belgium 2 notes however 22 shirt is taken by gervinho and shezza was not given no.1 as aw didnt want to put too much pressure on him but he will be no.1 choice
Bring on a good season and show the potential departees what their missing
Ads

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol AW is smart, so smart he is ripping the heart out of our team 1 day before the season starts when he could've conducted this properly instead of begging on his knees and telling CF he loves him and trying to play games with a player who said he wouldnt sign as AW told them both he would by quality and bring a trophy home, but didnt. Mata deal 99% done......and dead. Jones...bid straight away......dither. Cahill....practice what you preach and put up or shut up. Dann.....available from Jan......dither. GK schwartzer or the dutch no1.......both went or would've signed for under 5m.

entire preseason with new signings intigrating and settling except Jenkinson but he was comin months ago. Gervinho was on time but thats about it, and AOC we aint seen him kick a ball yet he was bought so late

North Bank Elite

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Gervinho has number 27.

For some reason the link to squad numbers page has been taken down from the front page of Arsenal.com.
Clicking on the first team link rwveals that Eboue has not been given a number. Im not sure if this is a sign or not as there has been speculation surrounding him.
Walcott, Gervinho and Miyachi are all under the heading Strikers

Does the squad numbers list being taken down mean that changes are being made?
Have you noticed this ed?

Mike

{Ed022's Note - I was just going to mention on another post that I went to have another look and it has been taken down...strange!!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Constantly refreshing 3 or 4 pages now, including this one and Arsneal.com in the hope that news will be announced soon.
I think it's all about to happen

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

How much of a mug does Wenger look now after saying in his press conference "I do not expect players to leave..." Only for a few hours later a deal to Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas to be announced literally everywhere. Just be honest and tell the fans how it is and stop keeping secrets you silly person

Believable27 Unbelievable8

Just posted the same thing mate really bugs me as it gives us lot that little blimmer of hope decent replacement or wenger out imo

lc-gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Answer is a total mug.

It's pretty difficult to take anything Wenger says seriously. I don't know why he bothers doing press conferences if he is just going to lie his way through them

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you guys not understand the principles of closing a business deal?Rumour has it that fabregas just gave up his loyalty payment of nigh on 5million and that was a major sticking point for the deal to go through. By 'lieing' in the interview he could well have effectively made 4-5m for Arsenal football club....? Im not a massive fan of the clubs philosophy as it has potentially cost us trophies and i realise like everyone else that our defence is not up to scratch. But PLEASE just shut up and let them do their jobs, like they get paid massive amounts to do, Wenger WILL NOT let his legacy slide away as it has the potential of doing. B*&^s like you do absolutely no good so stop crying about absolutely everything and get behind our incredibly young and talented team like they need us to it makes me sick

Agree0 Disagree0

If you were AW would you tell all and sundry
what you were about to do No you go quietly about your business and let them worry.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice Post (answer above)...

Agree0 Disagree0

But unfortunately the club tells the fans nothing until its officially done, he could have worded the press conference better. The board will be happy with the money from transfers, we got the wrong american.

{Ed022's Note - Bill Gates or Steve Jobs would be nice...}

Agree0 Disagree0

The only person that is a mug, is you for posting that

Do you not know wenger by now ?
When does he ever do his dirty laundry in public ?
All mind games

{Ed022's Note - We've got more mugs than a Starbucks on this post right now...}

Agree0 Disagree0

We are sick of his disrespect for us and his unwillingness to keep us in the dark, we are the ones who pump millions into the club every year infact over a million every matchday, if you dont believe me work it out on our ticket prices + season ticket averages match prices. He told us there will be lots of activity in the summer and so far we have 3 players and it has 7 weeks to do that even tho we had one confirmed straight away and AOC should've been done ages ago. I really wanted expected to see AW say to FCB in July, Here is CF he is 40m ONO you have 2 weeks to make a formal bid if no bid is recevied or is acceptable CF will stay. SN should have been told sign in Jan or be transfer listed for 25m. Cahill, Dann, Jags or Jones should've been been bid for ASAP in JULY Given, stelkenberg or schwartzer should've been bought at the first opportunity and then leave IvanG to fanny about with the Gervinho deal. PArker should be loaned in and Barton should also be brought in on a 1 year contract. Business done money in bank happy days.

If this would've been done like every AFC expected then he would've spent under 50m and that's without CF 35m+SN 22m

Players In
Schwartzer/Stelkenberg (2m & 3.5m) - cant believe AW missed both.
Jagz & Dann (17m & 8m)
Gervinho (11m)
Parker, Barton & AOC (Free, Free, 12m)

Cost = around 50m

Players Out

Cesc & Nasri (35m & 22m)

Total in = 57m.

not a pipe dream just the right way to do business. AW needs to go i'd rather be relegated and feel part of a club then feel like a punter in a brothel.

North Bank Elite

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's pretty embarrassing really; it's like he gets some titilation from just talking blatant rubbish. All he has to say is "the matter is ongoing", or "I can't comment at this stage" - not "I don't expect anybody to leave the club" - In the case of Fabregas why can't he simply say "A press release will shortly be issued by all parties concerned" or even a simple "we thank Cesc for all he has given and wish him all the best in the future?" I don't Know...

with sulking samir off to the northern branch of the mighty gunners isnt there a deal to be done which includes an unhappy de jong a perfect fit to give midfield some bite as song likes to get involved in attacking too much and can help an impressive but young frimpong to develop

{Ed022's Note - ...and whos gonna pay his £175,000 a week wages?}

Believable5 Unbelievable14

Ed never heard of pay cuts. U volunteer dont u maybe he will. LOL

{Ed022's Note - I hate to break it to you mate but me and Nigel are rocking the same salary...}

Agree0 Disagree0

We cant afford any player from city, barcelona, madrid.

Chelsea and utd wont sell to us...

and as much as i love liverpool garbage players like poulsen even the baggies dont want them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Point taken ed but if he's as unhappy as is being reported he may take a pay cut all i was saying it might be worth a go because set pieces are a problem with us but so is being 1 or 2 up with 20 to go and throwing away points because 6 players are in front of the ball that not just down to defenders but arsene style which with fullbacks pushing on really requires a disciplined holding midfielder of which song is not that player i know it wont happen but i can dream RED ARMY

Agree0 Disagree0

And this is my point about Man City ruining football. They might not have started the trend of buying trophies but they are certainly taking it to another level. Any club that has players who aren't even registered to play in their 25 man squad yet earn over 100,000 a week is a joke Man City have thrown so much money at so many players that they now can't shift them off their books making it impossible for other teams who aren't bankrolled by a rich Arab to afford to buy them Football will implode and we can all thank City.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont worry providing FIFA and Uefa police their fair play rules correctly Man City(And Chelsea to lesser extend) are totally srewed basically as they will have to drastically reduce their wage bill to make any sort of profit, else they will be kicked out of Europe. Their sponsership deal must be personally financed by the Sheik family beacuse the airline has yet to make profit, so that is dodgy as they come(How can they have one worth 4 Times more the average for a so called big club).

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Wrong... Jadson is in London at the moment. Arsenal/Shakhtar are in discussions and they've turned down one bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

He may negotiating, but it is subject to a work permit. Considering he is 27 years of age he wont qualify as a 'special talent' and he hasnt played the necessary number of internationals. I would be most surprised if he gets a work permit.

On Jadson wiki he has signed for Arsenal today go on and read it if you don't believe me The only thing is the work permit

Scott Dann should complete today it all seems done and dusted which is handy as our injury list is longer than an elephants trunk lol.

Oh BTW on ED's comment that wikipedia can be edited by any tom person or harry, I dont agree, seb squillachi's wiki seems to be a perfect description of his time at AFC lol.

{Ed022's Note - Just for the record, this is Squillaci's wikipedia information. As if to back me up...Arsenal

Squillaci apparently joined Arsenal F.C. on a three-year contract in the summer of 2010, taking the number 18 shirt, previously held by ex-Arsenal centre backs Mikal Silvestre and Pascal Cygan, this number is usually reserved for substandard players and "only in an emergency" type players. Following an injury to centre-back Thomas Vermaelen, Squillaci formed a central defensive partnership with fellow new signing, Laurent Koscielny. However as the season developed, Wenger preferred Johan Djourou instead of Squillaci, pleasing Arsenal supporters as Squillaci showed no visible signs of being able to defend at all. Infamously, at one point throughout the 2010/11 season Djourou had played 1096 league minutes of league football and conceded 4 goals, whilst Squillaci had played 1393 league minutes and conceded 23. Squillaci has alledgedly been compared to a pub footballer by fellow professionals. Squillaci scored his first goal for Arsenal in the Champions League group stage against Partizan Belgrade. His first Premier League goal came in a match against Stoke on 23 February 2011 following a cross from Nicklas Bendtner. During the 201011 season, Squillaci made 32 appearances and has scored 2 goals for the Gunners in all competitions.

Harsh or bang on?? You decide...}

Believable23 Unbelievable5

His description further down the page regarding his international career is also very apt. {Ed022's Note - Moves for Johnson, Richards and even SWP have been mentioned by posters on here but its just not Wenger's style. He likes the cash in his and the boards pockets! I cant remember the last time, if ever Wenger has part exchanged a player on any deal. Correct me if I am wrong...}

Didn't Wenger exchange Cashley Cole for five million and Gallas back in 2006?

{Ed022's Note - Unfortunately you have also missed out on being the first poster to reply. However the fact that Wenger has done it once (that we can think of) in the last 5yrs or even his reign, unless there are anymore? Backs up my original point in that its just not his style...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Reyes for baptista?

{Ed022's Note - Excellent knowledge poster! They did indeed exchange but only on a season long loan in 2006. However, you forgot to leave your address or name on the post so I can't unfortunately send you a top of the range microwave as your prize...}

Anelka to Real Madrid plus Davor Suker

{Ed022's Note - Nice attempt poster but Anelka signed for Real Madrid in a 23m deal in 1999. Later on in the summer Davor Sukor signed from Real Madrid in a 3.5m deal. The two deals were completely separate and although Sukor "replaced" Anelka he was not an exchange in the deal.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed

Didn't Davor suker go to arsenal, when anelka went the other way

{Ed022's Note - Two separate deals im afraid... No points or prizes on this one. Very impressed with the knowledge of the Gooners today! So far we have one cast iron part exchange with Cashley and Gallas. One part exchange loan with Reyes and Baptista "The Beast"...}

Agree0 Disagree0

How about money and de jong just what we need

{Ed022's Note - You've clearly not read the above posts... Its not Wengers style!!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed

Did we not give Barcelona money and Gio Van Bronkhurst when we "stole" (their words not mine) Fabregas from them.. They wanted Gio anyways, and were threatening to take us to a full tribunal over the Fabregas transfer so we gave them Gio as part of the deal so we only paid 500k or whatever it was for him?

Tim Taylor

{Ed022's Note - Half points on this one I reckon. GVB was loaned to Barca in 2003. He then signed a permanent deal a year later. The original loan was done in order to keep Barca sweet as we were stealing a prodigy from their academy. The deals were separate but one was used to smooth over negotiations/troubles between the two clubs. Great knowledge poster!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed. Kudos - even better knowledge about the loan etc to "sweeten the deal"...
Seeing as Barca are now "stealing" him back, perhaps Arsenal should have reminded Barca about that loan sweetener, and asked for their pick of a squad player so as to "sweeten" the fact Barca are buyin back our el Capitan

Tim Taylor

{Ed022's Note - Thanks mate, I do my best Tim, who would you like loaned to us as a sweetener?}

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont know, maybe Seydou Keita - there will be no room for him in that central midfield area, and he can play def midfielder, box to box midfielder or behind the striker. Or you could look at either Maxwell, Abidal or Adriano for left back. But I would have Keita if I could pick anyone (barring Messi/Xavi/Iniesta of course).

{Ed022's Note - He does have a year on his contract but so does Nasri and hes been quoted at £20m+ Montolivo is Fiorentina's captain and they do not want him to go so will be quoting us silly money. {Ed022's Note - Walcott, Vermaelen and Gibbs should start against Newcastle. RVP should also play and captain the team if he passes a late fitness test. Wenger claims he does not "expect anyone to leave" which is frankly laughable but also an attempt to squeeze some more money out of Barcelona. Lot of Wengerisms and a lot of talk about our squad being too big. I wont disagree with the size of the squad. However it is a big squad with some shockingly bad players. There lies the problem...}

Believable14 Unbelievable0

Well all he said was we have a big squad never said anything about quality...lol

{Ed022's Note - There lies my problem!!}

Agree0 Disagree0

The squad is only huge because we have 100+ wingers

sure, teh squad may be huge, but the talent that's there is poor (DC especially, and then a CDM)
would still like a 20m+Mascherano off Barca for Fabregas

Agree0 Disagree0

I would imagine Wenger is tying up some signings to compensate for the impending sales. The squad is large, but the following players should be disposed of, as they wouldnt get into any of the top 3 teams squads: Almunia, Eboue, Traore, Squilacci, Djourou, Vela & Bendtner. I would also not take into account the underage players. We should have 25 overage players & the U21's...

Agree0 Disagree0

No can do...mascherano is officially a defender since mid last season...and with puyol and pique on the injury list and barca adamant to add cesc and no defender in sight...Masc is the defender.

funny barcelona are like arsenal...loading up a section they have no problem with...while the defense is again exposed...only diff...their starting defense is better...

Agree0 Disagree0

Very true the squad is bloated with crap players no one wants, all down to Wenger, and he gave some new 50 k p/w contracts not long ago. His press conference insults our inteligence - the man is a disgrace who just plays on words, if nowt changes, and it won't, get him out in January

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a crap poker player but AW is becoming a bit of a joke when he opens his mouth now. I realise that we of course don't "know" whats going on or who's offered what for who, but surely any sane person knows both Fab and Cheeses of Nasri are off. Perhaps the Press Conference is obligatory but wouldn't we all be better served by Mr Gazidis and board unveiling Vertonghen, a three quarters decent left back, Mata (unlikley) and a Midfielder (I don't know who's best out of Jadson, MMM, Mata, or a defensive cover like Parker) and (it's too much to expect I agree) a striker (I actually think we've got enough IF they stay fit), rather than this hamfisted attempt at cloak-and-dagger "clever-clever" fiddle-arsing around? GET ON WITH IT. The season starts tomorrow, European qualification starts Tuesday
In Arsene we now only hope, not trust, which is sad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, do you reckon gervinho will play/start on sat?

Anyone else not got a scooby who Jadson is

Never heard of him before yesterday, never noticed him play I know the prof does this, takes an unknown player and makes them a star, in 3 or 4 seasons

I think we need a known player for the fans sake spend just half of the Cesc & Nasri cash and you could get a class player, I always though we would get Gourcuff in if Cesc left but I look to be wrong

I also think we have missed the boat with Enrique, £6 million to Lpool thats a great signing

Agree0 Disagree0

tbh have my doubts and IMO what buisiness this would be for both clubs - city don't need the money and can give nasri tevez's wages while arsenal save money in nasri's wages and what would be shelled out to buy tevez plus we would finally get a world class striker to play along side RVP
