Mathieu Flamini could be on his way back to arsenal. The out of favour Ac Malian player has been told he can leave for a fee of around £5 million pounds. And with Diaby injuired for the 99999 time this year, Flamini could be a bargain buy and fit straight into the DM role

Believable10 Unbelievable37

We won't pay any fee for him. We had the opportunity to pick him up for free in the summer (he may have even trained with us) but we didn't want him, then AC Milan offered a late one year extension.

He is available for free again at the end of this season, that is more likely, but I still don't see AW or a new manager being interested, and most fans would prefer someone younger and better.

At least flamini had fight....... this bunch of plodders would get beat in the Sunday league im sure they have no drive. They need there wages suspending if i dont do my job i get sacked.....

Yeah lets go back to someone who jumped ship previously

These bunch of so called plodders are in the knock out stages of the champions league, get some perspective please. We tried to offload Flamini the season before he left -to Birmingham- he had one good season. alot wanted Song gone , now he has gone ,they are saying they want him back.

Well when it's not happening to us I LOVE a good giant killing and fair play to Bradford, they wanted it more. They get paid so little they play for passion, for the love of the game, and probably the birds they get on a saturday night - what it used to be about.

I would love to see them go on and win it I really would, although Villa could do with some fortune too. The only reason I wouldn't want them to win it now is because it'll give Wenger the same bursh-it-under-the-carpet attitude of 'we lost to the winners, we can't complain' which is how he responds to a Barca loss. That's fair enough, not when it's Bradford though!

Still, I hope they do win it, that would be amazing.

I have on good authority that Arsene is in his final year as manager, he will move upstairs with a new manager coming in. Money will not be spent until we have the new manager, giving him a war chest of funds.
I can see this happening.
Hope we get Moyes.
Need to get rid of Sham (Stan) before then.
Mr Salmon

Believable9 Unbelievable40

Whats the point in getting rid of Wenger when the issue is the board.. If a new manager comes in and cannot resign any of the current players due to the wage restrictions then they will be in the same situation..... If RVP and Song wouldve stayed this year the title was ours !

Just a couple things to get off my chest...gervinho is in my eyes the worst player iv seen wearing the arsenal shirt ever, ramsay aint good enough to play CM but yet he plays RW when the ox is fit and finally why o why does he play a proven goalscorer in podolski LW and gervinho through the middle............Will aways love wenger for what he's done for the club but enough is enough please step down we need a change

Believable49 Unbelievable8

Total agreed will also like to bring up why does he play are two most creative players so deep all the time in arteta anf carzola! his tatics are pish!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this a rumour site or a moaning site

Agree0 Disagree0

Poldi doesn't move around as much as Gervinho does, this is the only explanation I can come up with. Hate him all you want the guy gives the effort, even though we have to facepalm in the aftermath.

Agree0 Disagree0

Along with ramsey, chamack, dear me. we thought arshavin was poor he is twice the player these are, can somebody tell me why ramsey cant get a ball to a player, its the basic's of football but the worrying thing is wenger can't see it and keeps playing him....

Agree0 Disagree0

We all know that Wenger does not see things, but how can he continually pick Gervinho and Ramsey who are worse than terrible. At least we will not have Gervinho in January as inexplicably he has been picked for the Ivory Coast squad. Let's hope that they get all the way to the final and he is there as long as possible. I agree with an earlier message that he is probably the worst striker we have had at the club since Ray Hankin (for those who remember him) and Lee Chapman and he may even be worse than them!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Dec 2012 14:28:34
Ramsey clearly hasn't fulfilled the potential he once demonstrated and he is no winger (or anything else presently). Gervinho, as you say is hopeless but not the worst I've seen in an arsenal shirt after 30 years of watching. We clearly have a major issue up front and in front of the defence where there is a clear lack of power and authority. Nobody knows whether or not Wenger will stay or go, but whatever he does there needs to be a massive root and branch change of direction from financial management to transfer policies and tactics. I believe still, that Wenger is the man for the job. If only because I cannot think of anyone better.

Do people really think that Wenger does not want decent players? This is the man who brought us Overmars and Henry when their prices were in the highest bracket. The transfer policy is the boards decision, not Wengers.

In an attempt to lighten the mood, are reporting a source close to Pep Guardiola indicating an interest in the Arsenal.
Now the reality. Firstly, after many years of supporting the 'Arsene' way, it's time to admit failure and move on, so I hope there is 'an Arsenal job' for someone to want. Secondly, would it really solve the problem or will the board simply ruin another apparently decent, honourable man, by turning him into a liar and a figure of fun?

Believable13 Unbelievable8

Did Pep Guardiola do his coaching badges at Arsenal, think this is a possibility because he would have stability and time to do the things he wants and to make the changes he wants. I believe this could be true.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love to see pep at arsenal but wake up people why on earth would he go to arsenal, when he could go to maybe man utd next season or his coaching staff are at man city, lets face it were not an attractive club any more

Wenger asked the players who was up for taking a pen last night and as the players said "yeah I'm up for one" that is the order they took their penalties. Did Wenger at any point think that he should organise the order of the takers before he gave the ref the names ? I've played Sunday league for a few years and have taken a fair few pens and the one thing the manager does is makes sure the best go first. So HOW ON GODS EARTH DID CHAMAKH STEP UP FOR THE SECOND. He's ****ing lost it, go now, Bouldy til the summer and get Pep in if your serious about winning

Hey Ed,
Is there any Arsenal interest in Kevin Strootman from PSV that you know of? If so, can you see a deal materializing in January or this coming summer? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Liverpool took a look at Kevin Strootman last season but tentative enquiries were met by a reluctance to sell so soon after arriving. His performances have attracted further interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, Valencia, AC Milan, Schalke 04 and Hamburg. I expect him to move to Manchester United or Milan in the summer.}

Would us beating Reading on Monday change your opinion about getting Wenger out of our club? For me even if he wins the next five Premiership games (which we should) would not change my desire for wanting Wenger to leave.

As an Arsenal fan for over 40 years i am well aware of the frustrations of many gooners out there but please be careful what you wish for.
How many managers could make a net profit on transfers and still keep us in CL positions?
Unless the boards position changes and they are suddenly willing to spend in order to bring the calibre of player we want and need at Arsenal it would be difficult to find a manager who would do as well IMO.

Agree1 Disagree0

We dont need to get Wenger out the bloke is the person how has made us as good as we are (where if you are a short sighted fan) but i would love to see David Dein come back which i know will never happen. Just think how would do a better job at Arsenal?

Other palyers Wenger should consider.

Thoughts ed / others?

Arda Turan (12-14mln)
Jackson Martinez (15mln)
James Rodriguez (15mln)
Willen (20mln)
Eric Lamela (20mln)
Hernanes (15mln)
Andre Schurlle (20mln)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not all of them, any one of them worth considering - as oppose to the usual suspects...

So other than Huntelaar, Zaha, etc...

Are there other realistic names out there that we can speculate on....

Wenger rarely buys the players we are linked with. I don't think Huntelaar is coming, and personally not convinced he is going to MASSIVE improve this team... he will slightly improve it.

Arda Turan is a bit like Rosicky for me, and given the change in the team once he was on, I think this could be a good player for us.

I think Podolski now deserves a run as the CF. Playing gervinho there is pointless - let's accept that he is the new Eboue.

We will hate him, boo him, he will cry, we will love him and his gigantic head...

Rant over.

The bottom line is Wenger has got till the end of the season to pull out a miraculous escape from this misery, or as much as i hate to say he will have to go.

I will not be surprised if Wenger does sign a couple of quality players in the coming window as i think he's almost desperate now but how they perform will ultimately define his fate.

Gotta finish in the top 4 and have a good crack at the F.A cup though it's not gonna be easy, very interesting few weeks lie ahead

arsenal effectively started the game last night with 9 men gerinho and ramsey were atrocious and we went down to 8 when chamack came on there are to many poor or average players in the arsenal set up and to go along with the three mentioned santos, fabbianski mannone squid djourou arshavin all o big wages and contributing nothing get rid of all and use the wages to buy three world class players a striker (not henry legend but age has cought up with him) im thinking falcao or cavanni a dm wanyamma or mvilla and a lb has to be bains its simple wenger i dont want him to leave but i want him to just manage the team get dein back and leave transfers to him

Believable21 Unbelievable12

Yes! Although after seeing a couple of the games he played i think Meade deserves more of a chance..he looked a level head once he grew into the CL game the other day. I dont think the strikers would happen, and i really think walcott can do a job.

And does anybody think that 4-3-3 is now a wasted formation for us? I know its very English but 4-4-2 works!

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Dec 2012 14:23:42
i honestly think walcott will go in jan if not the summer we are desperate need of firepower as i think giroud would be better playing off a poacher in a 442 as i cant see him scoring 20 goals a season in the prem

Agree1 Disagree0

Why would any top player come to Arsenal now? We are showing horrendous form, we have a poor squad and we pay average wages.
We will only be able to sign the likes of Zaha, Diame and Demba Ba as it would be a step up for them. The names you mention would never join us.

Agree1 Disagree0

Billybob, the man has lost it. we have good players, last night wasnt a one off and its totally unacceptable that it took 50+ minutes for us to get a shot on target against a league 2 outfit with basically our strongest team.
he is tactically inept, and as for january i dont want us to sign anyone if he's in charge of buying, it will only be wasted on second rate crap.

He sells our best players

He is paid 6m a year approx: £120k a week

"We are here because of one man WENGER - this guy has had his time"

Yes, we are regarded as one of the best teams in europe and the world

"He sells our best players"

Players which he identified, nurtured and made

"He believes fourth place is success"

Ask any team in europe what they think of our champions league qualification record

"He takes too long to identify player not good enough for AFC"

Agreed. Gervinhio for example.

"He believes we (AFC) are over achieving"

We are - given our budget. When we get the new commercial deals in place that excuse will not be there. But for now, its true.

"He never buys replacements for the world-class players we sell"

Completely agree. But I blame the owners. Should not be taking a profit each year from player sales. That is the problem.

"He is paid 6m a year approx: £120k a week"

A bargain. This man has made the club a billion dollar club, while liverpool, arguably a much bigger club when he joined has become a minor club. We are ahead of spuds. Have not been able to complete with petro-dollar clubs.

"get rid of this tied looking old man"

With who? Adams? Please, we will be with a worse manager, and not only will we not win trophies, we will not be playing champions league

Agree1 Disagree0

Responses to ridiculous comments regarding Wenger:

"He sells our best players"
He is forced to sell our best players, because he cannot afford their wages packages.... board's fault

"He believes fourth place is success"
He has no choice but to say this to protect the image of the club. Before 2005, he never said anything of the sort.

"He takes too long to identify player not good enough for AFC"
Nonsense. Identifying and affording are to very different things.

"He believes we (AFC) are over achieving"
We are... we are the only profitable club in the entire premier league and spend nothing compared to the big clubs. We ahve been punching above our weight for years. Reach the AST report on our fiancials.

"He never buys replacements for the world-class players we sell"
Does he have a choice in this matter? He is doing the best he can with scraps for resources.

"He is paid 6m a year approx: £120k a week"
And.... he is one of the most coveted managers in the world. Do you think its a coincidence that teams like man city, real madrid, are linked with him regularly?

Get a grip guys, we are all hurting, but this is not Wenger's fault. Direct your arrows at an aging board that is out of touch with the fans and the current state of football.

Billybob

Agree1 Disagree0

I totally agree with an earlier post. It is bad enough underperforming in the Premiership, but with all due respect to Bradford City, they are in league 2 (a league comparable to the Conference) and we could not get a shot on target at all during the first half, and barely in the 2nd half. This is totally unacceptable and those who think it is need to get a reality check. The problem is, we only play one way and even teams in League 2 know how to play against us. On top of that, we zonal mark and every commentator and expert who has spoken about this on TV has criticised us yet AW just does not alter from his principals as he is just too stubborn - at the cost to our once great club!

Agree0 Disagree0

The next 5 games (should) be easy wins. So let's boot Wenger out and get a manager who is willking to try something different as 4-3-3 and players playing out of position does not work. I personally think Wenger has not only lost the fans support but also his players support. Let's get someone in now and give them a decent budget in January to actually buy talent.
I can only see Wenger buying avarage players like he has for 3 years (bar Cazorla)

I have never asked for Wenger's head but we have to admit he is beginning to lose it. A famous quote came to mind today:

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"

I do not think sacking Wenger would be the right thing to do right now. But, as far as I am concerned, he has until the end of the season to prove he is still fit for the job.

Agree0 Disagree0

He hasn't 'begun' to lose it... he's well and truly lost it. It's so sad too because the man is a legend. The longer he stays now the more he tarnishes his exceptional legacy, mind he can not leave until May or we will be even more screwed!

StEvE

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger and the board fault they can not get any world class players pretty simple

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if he stays until the end of the season we will be in a mess. the whole team need a bit of fergie kicking there arse, and as for ramsey shocking passing for the whole season pne would'nt have him

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree. If Wenger stays until the summer we will finish mid table at best. He no longer has the ability to turn players such as Henry, Anelka, Vierra and Petit into world beaters and instead is turning quality players into complete dross - Gervinho, Ramsey, Vermaelen, and The Ox are totally rubbish and as for Podolski what has happened to him. The performance last night was a total disgrace and heads should roll. AW should be sacked TODAY, A new captain needs to be installed TODAY and the club should sort out the issue with Walcott TODAY. No more messing around because we are in serious danger of imploding. Perhaps we should start boycotting games so that the Board start to pay notice, especially when they start to see the revenue drop - I for one will not spend another pernny on the club until AW has gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger needs to go now, today but the board will NOT sack him and he will not quit. Wenger has already tarnished his reputation for me. He should man up and leave.

Also our fans seemed to be very supportive last night singing "We are the Greatest Team", "Wenger is the greatest manager" when we were losing 1-0. Were we being sarcastic or just supportive?
Chess

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha.. Did you hear that saying from Far Cry 3 perhaps? :P

Einstein was talking about experimental physics - where you control the variables - not everyday life!

Everyone needs some perspective. Yes, shock horror we went out to a lower league team in the league cup, has that happened to top perm teams before? Will it happen again?

Media are trying to make a story and every single report uses the, not won a trophy line. Don't rise to it. Would you rather support Portsmouth who have won a trophy during that time or be like Liverpool, win league cup but miss champs league etc etc. COME ON wake up!

Agree0 Disagree0

In all this vitriol which is understandable (trust me) no one has mentioned the part the players have in this mess...They look short of ideas, they didnt loook motivated. Oour strikers do not have that killer instinct too. The players are just as much to blame!

I would say though that Arsenal are not playing up to their strengths and this is probably what is killing us...

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, however I think the same should apply to members of the Board. It is hard to see whether the issue rests with Wenger or the board, and given the amazing service Wenger has given to this club it would be a shame to see him replaced by another manager if the problem actually lies elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well can i just say you are all a fickle bunch i didnt see us sacking our manager years ago when we lost to wrexham correct me if im wrong but i think george graham was in charge no we didnt did george graham acheve as much as wenger no he didnt we owe alot to wenger the east we can give him is our loyalty and tbh its because of wenger we have such high expectations

I dont think wenger will last a month now to many big people complaining. we need the change we cant keep getting beat in cup finals and big games due to his tactics, and his persistence to play his new signings that aint good enough, even though he is willing to lose the game for his own believe that the player will get better. nope im sure his head has gone the signings have been shocking
