Guardiola has confessed that Barca need a cb for next season! I am guessing that they wont be looking at squillaci, but may look at TV5.

Ike, perhaps we should start a rumour saying squillaci has barca DNA.
It can't hurt

I would let them take Squillaci only if they offered a straight swap with Inesta, Xavi, Cesc, and Messi. I think they would get a world class player and we would get a few squad players to rotate with.

Its Thiago Silva that they want. But milan want 25 mill for him. Good buy for the price, but then barca also want Jordi Alba...and then theres the gareth bale and rvp rumours too...lol

TV5 signed new contract less than 6 weeks ago for the next 4 years lol so I don't really see Barca showing any teeth. They are cheap and can't afford him!

Barca Are offloading a few players this summer. Not everyone from their youth setup makes the A-team.
Adriano, Affeley, Keita to name a few are players they want to sell.
Their no1 targets are always changing according to the reports. but from what i hear its jordi alba. He will have a year left on his contract when the summer begins and barca are willing to put a £8 mill bid to take him to Camp Nou.
Also Jordi Alba is a LB/LM combo like bale hence dont expect them to buy bale.
I dont expect them to spend big...just fix their cracks and sell those that they cant fit into their squad.

They just offered Abidal a contract extension. So no TV5 for them as he plays exactly the same positions as Abidal does.

Nah totally true, we gonna swap TV5 and wenger for messi. Then messi is gonna be player/manager

Re the Jordi Alba link it si in fact Geordie Albert that Guardiola wants to bring to the Camp Nou. The robust South Shields Municipal Gas Works defender, cousin of Gazza's mate Jimmy Five Bellies has been stalling on signing his new contract pending a swoop from the Catalan giants.

usmanov has finally got his 30% stake in the club
Believable23

If this is indeed true, I'd happily take this and concede a top 4 finish if I had to.
He will expose the Board, and it will get very interesting when we find out what has really been going on these last few years.
Also, we'll be signing some stars, you can bank on it.
Please be true...

If Usmanov gets on board, we will be competing for Cavani and Neymar as well as Hazard. Wenger will get whoever he wants...we know he loves Neymar, and we know Cavani is the best striker on the summer market
RVP will be paid handsomely to stay
Let's not forget Usmanov is richer than a certain owner of Chelski

I read somewhere that 30% does not mean he can get on the board unless he is invited by Kronk. It would be good if someone could answer who has knowledge of company laws.

This was reported in the daily mail (see below) about 3/4 months ago...I guess it's possible that he has now acquired the additional shares he need to get to 30% + we will have too wait and see what happens if that is the case-
personally I would prefer him to Silent Stan- not a sugar daddy...but at least a major shareholder who isn't at arsenal to make money, but who actually wants success for our club. How refreshing would that be.
LG
"Uzbeki billionaire Alisher Usmanov wants to increase his Arsenal shareholding in move that could spark a boardroom power struggle".
"Usmanov, the club's second biggest shareholder, is trying to increase his stake to 30 per cent".
"He currently owns just over 29 percent but will write to the club's smaller shareholders this week, offering to buy shares at £14,500 each".
"Reaching the 30 per cent threshold would make passing the test would clear the way for Usmanov to secure a seat on Arsenal's board of directors".
"But whether Usmanov - who is rated as the 35th richest person in the world - would be offered a place on the Gunners' top table remains to be seen".
"Usmanov has been critical of Stan Kroenke's current regime for what he sees as a lack of investment in the playing squad and his potential appointment is likely to cause fractions at boardroom level".

To the guy that asked:
I read somewhere that 30% does not mean he can get on the board unless he is invited by Kronk. It would be good if someone could answer who has knowledge of company laws.
I also read that and it was confirmed by the FA. I can't find the article to quote but thats also my belief. I suspect, Usmonov will ask for the accounts, Stan will say no, and then lawyers will get rich arguing the case.
Its also worth mentioning that just because Usmonov has 30% nothing at the club will change. Those thinking that we are going to go on a spending spree are in for a lot of disappointment.
It would be like you owning 30% of a house and paying out of your own pocket for a conservatory. You'd instantly be giving away 70% of your investment to the other shareholder. It ain't going to happen.
TVOR {Ed001's Note - except that the value of your 30% would increase.....}

If Usmanov hands silent stan a significant amount, which he can and may do so, stan may take the profits and leave town. Its all about the offer. Not many realise why the spurs, chelsea, fulham and now west ham want new stadiums. The money which is bankrolled by sponsers is beyond belief. Once Arsenals Emirates sponser is over, the deals that will lineup up is beyond retarded.
PSG has a future forecast to rival the biggest teams in the world in 10 years time...the only team in paris with the city at its call.
Arsenal share a market in london but the global appeal, the location, alot of factors grow into their profits. 4th richest club in the world without winning silverware for 7 years now. Its a game of money.
Usmanov has seen something we cant see...something that will not only make him rich but which also means putting arsenal on the map. His personality is about risk. Not sure how the arsenal board will view someone like that especially with all the policies they have in place.
Agree0

This maybe a dumb question but hey i no nothing about this stuff, if Usmanov does get the shares he needs and gets on the board does that mean David Dein is back on the scene?
Agree0
Disagree0
Im sure that if he gets 30% usmanov will have to offer an amount for the remaining shares.
I remember reading that if kronke was to sell them he would easily make a worthy profit, he would be better off selling them as he clearly has no interest in us and more concerned by investments elsewhere

Usmanov is clearly lining up a bid to purchase the club. He is gambling on a quick resolution, if Arsenal do not finish in the top four, as the fans will turn against Wenger & the board. I fully expect to see Usmanov purchase the club, followed by a return of David Dein & the appointment of Jose Mourinho. Watch this space....

I dont know why people think that Usmanov having a seat at the board means that we will suddenly have an increased amount of money to spend?! I mean come one people...stop living in a fantasy land !
The Board and Arsenal itself has had a history of trying to live within their means...AND THIS WAS BEFORE WENGER CAME IN...
Has it also occurred to some that Stan is also restrained into what he can do because the board's composition is not his?!
Has it also occurred to some that we just had a club such as Rangers declaring Bankruptcy and there may be others to follow AND THAT SPENDING WILDLY ON PLAYERS is NOT necessarily the soution...
Come one people ....think
No one is more frsutrated with the board;s lack of ambition and restrained spending...but there is a reason why we are 5/6th richest (valued) club whilst having to pay off the DEBT for a stadium...It is about SPENDING SMARTLY not WILDLY....Stop quoting player names that may not necessarily bring you LONG TERM SUCCESS

30% entitles you to a seat at the table subject to you passing the 'Fitness' test.
Getting a seat at the table does not always mean you influence the Club's policy on topics such as transfer negotiations + re-investment of gate receipts/merchandising/player sales back into the club/squad...
It gives you a chance though I admit...
I hope that we dont get too caught up thinking this is the start of a SPENDING spree...

Does anyone know how reliable Javier Perez is? He's been adamant for a while that we have a pre-contract/agreement with Matias Suarez and Lewis Holtby and I for one, would welcome the two signings. I've heard he's a reliable journalist but can anyone provide any background on the guy or know if he has been right (or wrong) about any signings in the past? Thanks.

Hes been right about Gervinho and Vermaelen and is a very level headed respectable guy. 42 years old, and some 20 years in the business, not like Malaga Gooner going around pretending he knows stuff. Personally i dont know if the stories have substance, but I'm not holding my breath as anything can happen in the window
