First time poster, does anyone else think we should have a punt on Jordan Rhodes? We could get him for £4m most and if in a few years, he isn't as good as he is promising, sell him to a mid table team to get the money back easy? And Chris samba wants to leave Blackburn, could get him quite cheap, exactly what we need, an authortive cb who can head the ball! Demba ba as well, cheap as chips, amazing player. And as for full backs, Neil Taylor is immense or maybe even baines?
Scottish gooon.

Believable16 Unbelievable6

We should get Abidal. He's 32 and we need temporary cover at LB. We should sell Squallaci and buy Samba (Per still needs time to adjust & it would help if Kosh or Verm get injured... We should sell Rosicky and bring in someone more useful, anyone! We should then sell Arsharvin & recall Vela from his loan, keep Vela & Ryo as cover for Gervhino on the left, while Ox can cover Theo when he eventually gets injured.. We still have Wellington Silva & Joel Campball out on loan aswell, why do we have all these attackers out on loan, while back home the only one who can score is Vannie P. I hope Henry teaches Theo how to finish while he's back home..

Agree2 Disagree2

Not sure why people are talking about young players or centre backs when its as clear as daylight our problems lie in attack/full backs and that we need quality now and not lfor someone to develop much much later.
however with 18 days to go in the window and our record of signing players in quick time its not going to happen one bit, gibbs is rumoured 10 days away from a return and then sagna and then a few more in feb. plus don't we have to sell first before we can buy but really henry is it.
it short term reactionary fingers crossed dealings which says to me its wenger is off in the summer, the summer is crucial for key players resigning, finally outting the deadwood and if we qualified for the CL, can't see wenger around to rebuild again which is a shame as like last jan transfer window we are only a couple of decent players away from having a squad to complete with the best.

Agree2 Disagree0

Recall Wellington and Campbell? I really don't think that those two are the solution to our lack of goal scorers atm. Wellington just got loaned to a minor spanish side, and as far as i know Campell dosn't have a work permit yet.

Edd, is it true that we have the option that we have the option to extend Henry's loan by an extra 2 weeks, i heard on ssn that it was an option and i also read it on (yes i know it's a dreadful source)
Thanks {Ed001's Note - there is an option to extend the loan, I am not sure of the details though, but I am told on good authority that there is one there. The MLS see it as good advertising for their league if players can perform well over here and then go back.}

Believable9 Unbelievable1

He'll prob get an extra 10 days to play the Spuds as his last showcase match, maybe up until 2nd leg of AC Milan....i would think..no more though

US Gooner

Agree11 Disagree2

Wenger himself said we have Henry for 6 1/2 weeks but could extend to 8 weeks, to include the Spuds game.

january arsenal rumours
4.11 bid for abidal
arsenal sign suarez pre-contract for summer(done deal)
jordan lukaku admires arsenal move.

rkrk

Believable8 Unbelievable5

If Jordan is as ready for the EPL as his brother, no thanks...

Again, how is Suarez going to get a permit? I'm tired of players we can't actually play because of permit issues. Problem is capped Argies and Brazilians are damn expensive.

Abidal would be a class signing. i'd be doing cartwheels...

US Gooner

Agree2 Disagree0

US Gooner, what do you mean about Jordan Lukakus brother not being ready for the Premiership, he is only 18 and he barges men twice his age like they are not there. No doubt Jordan Lukaku is also a talented youngster and will be world class in a few years

Agree1 Disagree0

Matias Suarez will get permit as he was topsscorer in Europa League over first half of seaso and he has just received the so-called 'golden shoe' in belgium which is the MVP award

Agree4 Disagree0

Don't know if that would be enough to get him a work permit. They are usually awarded solely based on percentage of international appearances over the last however many games. Occasionally special dispensation is granted for "special talent" but, let's be honest, scoring a few goals in the Europa Leage probably doesn't fall into the "special" category!

Jesus Navas IS coming to Arsenal, he is gonna give Theo Walcott competition in the right wing role. £20 million release claus, and worth it for a Spanish international. Also i hear on the grapevine that Henry will be offered the assistant managers position in the summer with a spot in the team also, when Pat Rice retires!

M A Wigg

Believable4 Unbelievable16

LOL Daily Star and Mail came out w/ the Henry being assistant about 2-3 weeks ago. Not news, also won't happen.

As for Navas, no he ISN'T coming to Arsenal. We have Ox and Ryo who can both play RW not to mention both Rosicky and Benayoun can play there, too.

=M.A.

Agree8 Disagree2

Henry will eventually be offered a coaching role.. but i doubt it will be as soon as this summer

Agree13 Disagree0

This one is FUNNY! Jesus Navas is coming to AFC. Joke of the day!

DrchoG

Agree8 Disagree2

The poor guy can't go to the opposite side of the country for a while on international duty at training camps without severe anxiety problems and homesickness, so how can you expect him to move to London!?
fats

Agree6 Disagree0

Above post is spot on , navas suffers from an anxiety disorder and he cant leave home! so people stop pouting absolute garbage

Agree8 Disagree0

Lol does M A wigg stand for Miss Arsenal Wig?

ibster

Agree0 Disagree4

Jesus navas does even like to travel for the away games within Spain his home sickness is second only to reyes

Agree2 Disagree0

Nah don't care for Navas much. When I bought him on Fifa he didn't add much to the team ;)

Agree0 Disagree1

He was in the world cup so his homesickness is gettin better or is already better

Hazzard wont be coming to arsenal.. because yet again ( like when mata was linked with us) wenger was to slow..

Abidal will also not be coming, news in spain is reporting that he is set to sign a new one yet extenion with barca.

I think its about time wenger put some money into the defence.

Believable15 Unbelievable5

Why would he do that? All we need is a loan, we're sorted for CB and have just had some ridiculous injuries. Personally I just want to see more of Miquel

Agree12 Disagree6

Wenger want slow
wenger does not sit on the table for negotiation, gaziadis does

AW himself said he and he alone would be dealing w/ Jan transfers.

Ed, anynews about a young player from MSL whowas training with Arsenal??

Can Gunner {Ed007's Note - Brek Shea?? Sorry I have no idea what is happening with him now.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Hes gone back now, he was only training.
fats

Agree0 Disagree0

He wasn't only training he was on a trial with Arsenal.

=M.A. {Ed001's Note - he wasn't meant to be, most of the Prem had a young player from the MLS over to train with them, purely to get an idea of the type of training done in Europe. A number of them also went over to the Bundesliga, and the MLS was trying to get them over to Spain too, but not sure if they managed to get that done.}

Agree0 Disagree1

I know it was training, but we offered him a trial Ed.

Did this not go ahead from what you know/heard? {Ed001's Note - I don't know, I just spoke to someone at the MLS when it was first arranged and all the talk was about him having a trial. They told me that there would be a number of young players heading to Europe, but it was just to train with European clubs and gain experience and that no one was on trial. Having said that, I am sure Wenger and his staff would have had a good look at him while he was over. I am also sure they would see that he is quite simply not good enough to play for Arsenal, he is not in the same class as Landon Donovan.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, you're right. The technical level here is way behind, and if anything I see American players making it at a team playing a more English brand of football.

Dempsey and maybe Holden (poor guy needs to get healthy, is costing Bolton big time) could cut it with us....maybe.

US Gooner {Ed001's Note - I agree on Dempsey and Holden, they are both excellent players. Dempsey is one of my favourites, betting on him to score at any time, in a USA match, has made me a fair few quid!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I'd take a Dempsey type of player, who plays with his heart on his sleeve, any day over a guy who thinks he's a superstar.

For what Dempsey costs, it's an absolute tragedy a big club hasn't gone all out for him. And it's also a testament of his loyalty to his club, something I think a lot of players worldwide could learn from.

US Gooner {Ed001's Note - I have always said someone should snap him up, he has a lot to offer.}

Sky Sports News are reporting that both AFC and Villa are mulling over moves for Scott Dann just 6 months after he joined from Birmingham.

Not sure where they're hearing this or why they're reporting it when I was confident AW doesn't need any more deputising CB's... Full back is what we need.

=M.A.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Creativity on the wings is more needed imo. If chavs getting Hazard I wont support WEnger until he pulls out something special

Agree4 Disagree1

Sky sports chat the most s**t these days. their "sources" are always either so late or so wrong.
fats

Agree2 Disagree0

Wow, all it takes is 2 weeks of inacitivty for the Dann rumors to begin. The Brit media is the most predictable bs outlet out there..

I wouldn't buy into this MS, I think he'd be our 5th CB behind Miquel

US Gooner

Agree2 Disagree1

I honestly think that if we Dont get Good players like Verntogen,Gourcouff,Hazard,Goetz,Poldolski, players like that then Arsenal will NOT get 4th or higher, and in all Honesty,My patience is running thin with Wenger and the Board,They both seem Content with Only 4th place,None have Ambitions to win a Trophy,Directors have said "We can cope if we dont finish in top 4 " Sorry but thats not good enough,YES Wenger has done well, given he has little money to spend year in year out by the board, but in my mind,If Wenger really wants something that bad,The Board will give it to him,End of. im sick of him buying Promising kids,we need end products, and sorry not players over 33,either.We supposed to have a S*** load of money,Well where is it ? The Person who is in charge of Negotiating transfers should be Sacked,He cant negotiate a Pi** up in a Brewery,Lots of Good Players have gone elsewhere, when they would have Played For Arsenal, and many more will do the same, you can be sure of that while the Negotiator is in Charge.I personally would like Usminov ? and Dein bought back to Arsenal,When Dein was at Arsenal,he wanted a team of winners,He bought Bergkamp,Overmars, etc, etc ,and Trophy`s to this club, under the current lot,A Lot of Promises and not Much else.Im a Gooner and Always will be,But times and Managers must Change, and hopefully the Board

Agree13 Disagree1

We'll get 4th even if we sign no one, I believe in track records over big money signings...a la, Torres, Luis, Lukaku, Henderson, Downing, Carrol, Pavlyuchenko and Nasri (from their perspective) to name a few

US Gooner

Agree4 Disagree2

Your so sure we will get 4th place, OK lets break this down,Arsenal only have 1 place to aim for, thats 4th,Man City,Man Utd,and the Scum ,will all finish above us,so Chelsea, OK there having a Crap season, but they have a Chairman who will give them millions, and a Manger who will spend it,Our Manager seems content on loan signings,But will spend in the summer, when it will be too late,Either Wenger needs to sack hes crap Physios, and Medical team, cause they have done a Crap job, over the last few seasons.or spend a few million on good players ,over the age of 24,Neither will Happen. And i fear for Arsenal over the next few years,if we continue to go the same route,Van Persie will NOT sign a new contract,he can see 1st hand, hes playing for a team with NO AMBITION,so he will be Sold in the summer, unless Arsenal spend Big,and show Ambition to WIN Trophys and NOT 4th Place,Im not asking Wenger or the board to spend £50 million on one player,But i am asking Wenger to Spend £50 million on good players like the ones i mentioned above, and sell the likes of players who shouldnt be allowed to wear the famous Red And White. And a few players wear the shiirt ,that should no way get near it,Players like Djourou,Squillachi, etc, etc,if Wenger thinks Djourou is a Player fit enough to wear the Famous shirt, then im sorry,Wenger has to go,End of,Djourou is a liability,we all knew that, and still he gets in the team,To be honest if i was Manager of Southend Utd he wouldn't make my first team, and yet he plays For Arsenal,Sorry, but im not as convinced as you of 4th place, besides i Support Arsenal,I Want 1st place,2nd,3rd,4th are NOT Optional,Herbert Chapman,Alex James,Cliff Bastin,Frank McLintlock, etc, etc must be livid,ALL were winners,Sadly this Lot dont want to be,And if we dont get in top 4,will Goetz,Gourcoff, poldolski,Hazard, etc ,etc, want to join us then,NO Mate,But i tell you one thing,The Board will Love it,No big transfers,No Big wages, and for a few years too, that Kronke/Board certainly knows how to make money,He Dont care about trophy's,Mate,Sorry, maybe the Super Bowl. Trouble with Tradition, its not Guaranteed,And let me remind you,If it wasnt for Arteta`s last minute change of mind on Wages,we would be probably languishing in the relegation zone, not sitting in 5th place

Agree7 Disagree3

$ th will be a struggle, and it aimt good enough any way. We moved to the new ground to enable us to compete with the biggest clubs, so when is that going to happen. We will not improve the squad in this window. We have allowed the squad to become full of injury prone players who do not care about the club. As soon as players like Gibbs ans Diaby get fit, they will be injured again within six weeks, it has been goin g on for years ! You cannot build a squad with p[layers like this. Sorry, but only one man to blame. Mr Wenger, its his squad.

Hello, Arsenal are on the brink of bringing in two brasilians to the Emerates. The first one is Paulo Henrique Lima who plays cam for Santos. They have made an enquery about him and the clubs are negoating a fee. Paulo Henrique Lima(Ganso) is delighted with Arsenal interest and like their style of play. The second one is Welliton Soares de Morais(Welliton) he plays for Spartak Moskva as a forward, there is a similiar situation there. There have been talks between the clubs and Welliton is keen to move to Arsenal. However both of the players will not come until the end of the window if they come. Santos and Spartak Mosvka want to use them for rest of january. Im not saying this is 100% but there is interest from Arsenal and there have been talks. My source comes from a well known agent in Brazil. I hope this goes trough.

Sorry for my bad English

Greetings
Joao

Believable13 Unbelievable11

Welliton will not come - he wants to stay in russia to try to get his nationality changed to enable him to play for russia just as thiago motta for inter did. Ganso will not leave santos.

good job.....

Agree7 Disagree4

"Joao"

Find this hard to believe... As has been made clear to me, getting him a permit would be a problem first of all.

Also not to mention how notorious Santos are about these kinds of deals.

=M.A.

Agree4 Disagree2

No, cause he is a full international. I dont think there would be any work permit problems. Ganso would be just awesome! Welliton not sure.

Agree1 Disagree3

I would love Ganso... Ah I hope this is true even though I know it isn't!

Gilo

Agree4 Disagree1

Yes Gilo,
Ganso would be fantastic and it seems he'd be half the price of a gotze (15 mill). we've been following him for a while and I saw via the exclusive his agent was talking to tottenham and they aren't keen until summer. So seems feasible.

A respected Argentinian football journalist Javier Perez has announced via his twitter account that the deal has been done. He said about Suarez: "The deal will not be officially announced until later on in the season, as there are still a few bits and pieces that need to be ironed out.
"Arsenal wanted him to move during the January transfer window, but will be happy to have reached a compromise that sees them securing a player they have admired and watched many times last year."
Perez finally actually spoke to the player himself, who "also confirmed to us that he has signed a not so "secret" pre contract with Arsenal for the summer."

I have no claim to know anybody at the training ground or that work for arsenal but have seen this floating around.

Wenger is prepared to pay £4.1million for the 32-year-old defender. The player is Abidal of Barca.

Contract talks have stalled or so its reported. could be a useful addition to the squad maybe help take some pressure of Song

Believable4 Unbelievable6

I have heard this rumour too, BUT! Abidial plays CB, LB not DM so wouldnt effect Song and only has 6 months left on contact so 4.1m for a 32yo is alot considering his free feb 1st
dan

Agree3 Disagree1

TalkSH!TE started that rumour... There, at the moment, is no foundation to it.

However it is 'rumoured' we have sent a rep to discuss Abidal.

=M.A.

Agree3 Disagree0

Song? I thought abidal plays at left back or left mid ? Anyhow, reagrdless he would be a useful addition to the squad.

Agree4 Disagree2

Are reporting that Jordi Alba is close to joining Barca so there 'might' be significant truth in Abidal to Arsenal.

Personally I hope so, he is a great player and someone who can be a locker room leader for 2-3 years.

StEvE

Agree2 Disagree2

Sorry didnt mean song! was reading something as i was typing, no multi tasking for me lol

Agree1 Disagree4

Ssn reporting this as well, so a lot more reliable than talksport

Agree3 Disagree2

SSN are hardly 'more reliable' than TalkSH!Te . They got their information about Abidal from the Internet.

=M.A.

Agree2 Disagree2

Lets be honest here, compared to squillaici abidal would be a great player for us. Also wenger has a player in Henry who used to play with Abidal at barca, so there will be plenty of knowledge about him there already.

i for one hope this is true and that it does happen, 4.1mill may be a lot, but it guarentees him coming to us, not playing the waiting game and trying to get him on a free when the season ends as we notouriously take ages to sort out cotract offers, then lose the player

Wellington has ended his loan with Levante and has instead been sent to second division CD Alcoyano.

JAYSUS H CHRIST!! Whats he gonna learn here!

Believable3 Unbelievable2

He's a dud mate. don't waste your time monitering his progress
AG

Agree7 Disagree2

We should sell him apparently he has an awful attitude and loves Pizza and Twitter.

No point in sticking with him just let him go...

Gilo

Agree3 Disagree3

Bad attitude, bad trainer and thinks he is better than he is.
Good riddance

FAB

Agree3 Disagree1

I watched him during his trial as a 16 y/o and he tore a Norwich U18 defence apart at Colney, scoring 4 and making another 3. He was outstanding. Got his move to Europe and then I guess he thought he was God's gift. Shame really cos I thought Le Prof could keep him on the straight and narrow but obviously not to be.

Agree2 Disagree0

All he needs is a work permit

Agree1 Disagree1

I think there is potential there yet..

Totally agree with all the above... Just a pity was soo excited when we signed him! Not as excited as i was when we signed Joel Campbell though, really hope he keeps his head on his shoulders...

Believable2 Unbelievable13

Either you're lying or your friend is lying. Colney is just the training camp for Arsenal F.C and we barely get any news like that.

We don't even hear when players are coming in to train, unless we work in a department with their schedule (Medical room, Gym, etc)
