With Gilo showing one side of our defence, I thought I would put up a video about Thomas Vermaelen. Thinking about it now, when we are injury free, we have the best defensive partnership in the league, the best right back and hopefully a new left back!

Thomas Vermaelen and Laurent Koscielny would be solid

I agree with US Gooner..

very much speechless, he's the perfect defender..

Everyday I think about the fact that Arsene knew their names when we didn't...and now I cannot see us winning anything without either of them...they will retire LEGENDS

I haven't ever posted a video on here before, and usually don't agree that youtube video's show what a player is really like.

However, over the past couple of days I have seen some comments of people that STILL don't like Koscielny. Seriously what is wrong with you? Are you so proud to admit you were wrong about him that you still can't admit the fact he has been WORLD CLASS this season. Honestly you people wouldn't as much as stand up if Chamakh unleashed a 50 yard overhead into the top corner in the last minute of the Champions league final...

Still this video shows that Koscielny has rightly earned his nickname 'BOSSCIELNY'.

Song should be "Hustlin" by Rick Rowssss, like a bowsss

Totally agree. Koscielny is a genius defender.

Agree14 Disagree1

Great vid, love the bits where he's running the show against Barca! By far the best defender at the club, we all love TV and hes the best all round player but when it comes to defending its all about the BOSS

Agree3 Disagree2

Speed, pure power, tackling and he is great in the air.

Kos is fantastic. Sagna Kos TV Santos is a very decent backline!

Agree5 Disagree1

When i originally heard that we were looking at a relatively unknown french CB, i immediately thought someone young and a fair "prospect" like Stambouli etc. I wasn't sure about Koscielny, i'll admit it, but ever since his debut, he has been fantastic, absolutely fantastic.

I just hope that we don't get a stupid offer from one of the "more money than god" clubs for Verm and Kos because they have been our bedrock. (Add song into that mix aswell)

But yes, Koscielny is fast becoming one of my favourite Arsenal players ever :) :)

Omani defender Saad Suhail Al-Mukhaini went to London today and will be at Arsenal for a week trail, according to many sources and Wigan keeper Ali Al-Habsi on Twitter.

I think, if he impresses ofc, that this will be our fullback singing tbh. He's 24 aswell which would mean that he would go straight into the first team squad, recommended by Wenger's good friend Paul Le Guen. We all know Wenger likes a diamond in the rough...

Could always try to get Capdevila. He would be a good cover signing, has been Spanish first choice left back for years. Great left foot as well.

I Think He Just Joined A New Team.

We can cover RB, CB, LB, CDM, CM and RW with two signings.

Vertonghen - £12m (CB, LB, CDM)
Isla - £8m - (RB, CM, RW)

I cant understand why we havent signed Honda yet! His season has finished and I'm pretty sure he's in the last year of his contract. We desperately need quality attacking additions to the squad, we know that wenger rates him and he can play centrally or wide and wouldn't cost much over 10mil! What is he waiting for? Sign him wenger!!

Believable15 Unbelievable5

Absolutely agree! he covers so many positions and is such a great player. watch his free-kicks. and watch his left foot. pretty good finishing for a midfielder!

Agree7 Disagree3

His season hasn't finished

this season, Russia are doing a bumper package of ~45 games, in order to calibrate with the rest of europe

this "season" goes from March 2011 to May 2012, of virtually non-stop action (other than a winter break)

it's like saying that we should go for Gotze, as his season has ended

13 Jan 2012 17:23:36
ed, have we bid for any attackers? it seems the longer we wait, the more other clubs hone in on out targets...

thx

US Gooner {Ed002's Note - There has certainly been interest but as for bids, I don't know.}

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Our work is usually super secretive, so I'm hoping a player slips a la TV5 and says he's likely to join Arsenal....

US Gooner

Agree2 Disagree2

Iam a glasgow rangers fan and we have a perfect attacker for you jelivic ,scores goals and plays the arsenal way at football ,you could get him for 8 million and that would be a bargain. would fit your style of play.

Agree1 Disagree3

Could get him for half than, and he is nowhere near the standard we already have.

Agree1 Disagree1

Well im a celtic fan and hopper for 10m?

GunnerzBoy

Agree2 Disagree2

Just because a player scores goals in scotland does not mean they coukd score in the premiership. See anthony stokes for example.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think you could get him for half of that, who scores your goals apart from van persie, agree i like arsenals style of play but you need a striker and jelivic or hooper would do you well why pay say 20 or 30 million for a striker when you could pay 8 or 10 mill for proven goal scorers , as for the scottish league being bad well just ask mikel arteta see what he thinks of our league he reconse it made him the player he is.

Agree2 Disagree0

Are you serious ? how are Jelavic and Hooper proven ? they play in the SPL against teams the same quality as Championship/League 1 teams. Kris Boyd who is the SPL top scorer ever couldnt even make it in the championship so what makes you think Hooper and Jelavic could play for a team in the champions league and fighting for the league/top 4. And btw im not saying anything bad about the SPL or Jelavic and Hooper , i just dont think they are good enough for Arsenal but they could probly do the job for some teams lower down the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Van persy is a great player but hes never going to score the goals to win you the title,, you need a striker badly m8, its a pitty yous,e couldnt take a gamble on one of them they would get the goals you need , best of luck to arsenal this season.

mertesacker and rosicky have been ill. really nice news for our injury hampered defence! i guess if mertesacker doesn't recover we will go with djourou-squillaci-koscielny-miquel although i would put yennaris to rb and replace squillaci with djourou at cb.

iceman

Believable11 Unbelievable4

I would not put Djourou anywhere near a Arsenal team even if he was the last centre back alive. All bad things that happen to our team occur when he's on the pitch

Agree10 Disagree5

AW just said he was looking to loan a full back if possible, but would only be a young prospect or someone not playing for there current club.
Sounds like Bridge to me.....

FAB

Believable4 Unbelievable8

Lol Wayne Bridge is 31... So definitely not him. That being said it would also rule out Abidal.

Cissokho is 24 and has been spared a game or two with Timothe Kolodziejczak being played before him and Mouhamadou Dabo deputising in LB.

=M.A.

Agree4 Disagree2

I think he will leave it as long as possible to make a decision as Gibbs & Vermaelen are returning shortly. Another defender, Jenkinson is also back in training. Bridge will not be signed. Personally, I would love to see us sign another left-back & push Gibbs forward to cover Gervinho whilst he is away. I have always believed that Gibbs is far more suited to playing further forward, rather than at LB.

Agree6 Disagree1

Wenger: "That is why it is not an easy situation. You have to consider that a guy who has not played for two months is not necessarily back quicker than Bacary Sagna or another player who is just coming back from injury."

IT IS THAT EASY GET THE FINGER OUT!! WE NEED SOMEONE NOW

Agree2 Disagree5

Gibbs is far better playing FIFA than playing left back and that's only because he hasn't injured his hand yet boys made of glass better off getting what we can for him and finding a decent replacement
Gunner14

Agree4 Disagree4

We've been here so many times before, indecision/chancing it but really this is one of those moments when the club should just go one way or the other and not inbetween.
and that is bidding big money for leighton baines, let gibbs leave/play him more advanced and have santos as back up.
best crosser in the league, cracking shot, superb defender and has prem experience so no settling in problems.

chances are though we are gonna go with this man from oman 2nd division football.

mack

Agree4 Disagree4

As Sagna, Jenkinson & Gibbs are all back in training with Sagna & Gibbs due to play towards the end of the month, the only long term injured full-back is Santos, who is due back in March, which probably means April! From Wenger's press conference today, I would deduce that he is trying to sign a player who is comfortable at Left-Back as well as Centre Back. This takes into the assumption that Squilacci is going & that Djourou will depart in the summer. Our defensive options for next season will then be:
RB: Sagna & Jenkinson
LB: Santos & Gibbs
CB: Vermaelen & new player
CB: Mertesacker & Koscielny

Hence a player such as Vertonghen could be the type Wenger is looking to sign.

whom of you would take Alexander Koralov?
I would lol

Eliems

Believable20 Unbelievable16

He is the worst left back in the league

watford gooner

Agree11 Disagree7

I have just read one of the daily rags, saying that Juventus are watching Man Citys Kolarov,I think he would be a great LB for Arsenal, and he's younger than Abidal.
Braintreegooner

Agree8 Disagree9

Loool The Fact That Abidal Started The Season Had Cancer Removed Then Returned Shows He Doesnt Do Anything At Barca. He Is No Good. And man City Would Rather Play Clichy That Korlarov That Says Alot

Agree4 Disagree7

^^ What a RIDICULOUS comment to make.

The fact that Abidal STARTED for Barcelona. Went through the traumatic experience of finding out HE HAD CANCER, yet STILL PLAYED... Then ONLY LEFT to have it removed and came back AND CONTINUED TO PLAY... Proves just what kind of player he is.

=Miss Arsenal.

Agree15 Disagree0

The Only Good About Abidal Is He Is Fast Hes Been Poor For A while Now He Plays In A Amazing Team With Brilliant Players Around Him Doeant Me Hes Any Good Just Like Valdez. The Last Time I Watched Him For France He Looked Stuck Scored A Own Goal And Everything And This Was Aginst The Country Hleb Is From.

Agree1 Disagree3

Spot on Miss Arsenal.

Now wheres that picture.....

Rob G {Ed001's Note - pictures? Now now, if there are pictures going they would have to be approved by me, for editorial control purposes of course! Oooops, I mean, please don't ask her for pics, etc, you will be frightening off all the female Arsenal fans.}

Agree0 Disagree0

PLayer scores an own goal, shock, shock.. This man is an absoloute trooper, he has played through a time most people would just sit back and take it easy... This guys an absoloute example to millions, He would suit the Arsenal game, would be cheap as chips, and wouldnt demand a ransom amount of money... PS THAT COUNTRY WAS BELARUS..

Agree0 Disagree1

Okay He's A Trooper You Could Say The Say That About Any Player Doesn't Mean There Good And Yeahh I Worked It Out After Then watched The Own Goal It Was Such Poor Defending And For That Whole Match He Was Poor Trust Me I Only Watched It To See Nasri And Abidal And He Was Getting Ripped For The Whole Match I Started To Feel Sorry For Him. then I Watched Him Against Porto In The Super Cup I Think He Was Play Cb He Was Poor Again He Was Making Ball Control Mistakes When There Was No Preasure On Him

Agree0 Disagree0

You fool, Abidal is a world class left back, the fact he gets in the france team above Clichy AND Evra; who are both premier league standard full backs speaks for itself. And he's not THAT fast as you mentioned earlier. He's strong, great in the air, has great awareness and he can get past players. He's still a great full back and a good centre half.

Agree2 Disagree1

Now Your Talking Rubbish He Is Very Fast And He Can Get Past Players But Has Only Score Two Goals In His Career. Evra And Clichy Aren't That Good Arguable Evra Is Better. if Abidal Is So Good Why Did A Rb That Can't Defend Beat Him To The Left Back Roll In The Fifpro Team Of 2011. Watch Barca For The Next 4 Weeks Then We Can Talk.

open your eyes, samba will have talks with blackburn today after saying he wants to quit, wenger will snap him up cheap !!

Believable7 Unbelievable13

We have too many CB's, Wenger even said so himself on various occasions. If anyone needs to open their eyes its you mate. (not trying to be rude)
Nick.

Agree7 Disagree0

We do not need anymore cb's.... when will people learn.

Woody

Agree7 Disagree0

We have 1 world class cb, tv5. 1 potentially world class cb, kos. And the rest are liabilities.
Scottish gooon.

Agree6 Disagree7

Hmm not convinced, as others have said we have enough CB's. Unless he is planing to get rid of one in the summer (apart from squichy) but unlikely.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes we have too many CB bus they are all crap except Vermealen

Agree2 Disagree10

Koscielny has been AFC's 2nd BEST PLAYER This season, behind RvP. How the heck is he crap?

Stop talking out of your Arsenal.

=M.A.

Agree18 Disagree0

He could go up front. would be better than chamack...

russell

Agree10 Disagree0

Samba was my choice ahead of Per, EPL Experience, Commitment, Uses his head well both in defence and in attack. How many AFC corners has Per met? Loic Remy made him look ordinary over the two legs agains Marseille(esp at Home), No Pace... Bad defensive choice based on International experience. CB's is not what we require.

Agree4 Disagree4

That was 3 months ago over the past 6 weeks per has been the rock we really needed last year and in my opinion his class and international experience have really shown
kb

Agree10 Disagree0

Koscielny has been one of the outstanding performers of the season. He may have started slow last season but has really come to fruition this year and will soon be renowned as one of the best centre backs in Europe. He is superb now and will only get better as he gets older. We do not necessarily need any world class defenders coming in, we have them already, albeit injured, we need cover for 3 weeks and then we will be okay.

How about the fans start supporting the team instead of slating them

Agree13 Disagree0

Samba will be signing for Q.P.R not arsenal. wants to link up with a team with ambitions, providing we don't get relegated that is....

Heard from a mate who works at a newspaper in Manchester, as soon as Tevez goes Mancini will make a bid for RVP.

Believable3 Unbelievable19

Ac have just abandoned talks with Tevez as he has done his usual 'being a right tit' between 2 clubs thing.

And Van Persie has said he isn't leaving, and you know we won't sell unless somebody absolutely mindblowing comes up, which is unlikely...

CS

Agree6 Disagree0

They're doing fine without tevez + their whole bench is jusr full of strikers

Agree7 Disagree1

"and you know we won't sell unless somebody absolutely mindblowing comes up, which is unlikely..."

Yeah like arteta and benayoun for fab and nas...

Agree9 Disagree0

Just a question, When have city ever needed to sell a player so they can buy another player ?

Agree6 Disagree0

Since they started bricking it about the FFP rules - they know they can't just go and spend 50m on a whim any more!

Agree1 Disagree1

Hope RVP won't go. I think he loves Arsenal enough to stay so it will be OK; just like Bergkamp!

Agree1 Disagree0

Yossi and Arteta were not like for like swaps were they now? Let's stay realistic.

Cesc we all knew was leaving Nasri didn't matter anyway.

Van Persie will not be sold unless we get 100Million or two or three players plus cash and that won't happen.

Honestly some people just looking for reasons to moan about stuff that hasn't happened! Lighten up..
