Ed, is there any interest in 18 year old Kurt Zouma or Serge Aurier? {Ed001's Note - I know Man Utd and Spurs have been keeping tabs on Zouma, I will ask who else is keeping tabs. I don't have anything regarding Aurier sorry.}

I get the feeling that Thierry will come back home and get involved with the club . I believe his influence on players and the management will be immense and will herald a big improvement in terms of the sort of players who will come in and those who will choose to stay!

True that... Henry will come and save our season, he'll become top scorer within two games. Who's our top scorer is it 3 goals?

Agree0 Disagree0

I actual think that TH will come back soon on a full time basis after he finishes playing!

if wenger had bought cazorla,podolski and giroud but all so kept song and rvp that would of been a good summer transfer window.

we had a projected £70 mill in the bank,if we had won something it would of gone half the way to pay the £24 mill we got for rvp.

who is making these decisions?

how have the club given the fans the best chance of success?

I think Arsenal fans forget one simple thing, if a player will not sign a new contract and wants to leave or run down a contract Arsenal can't stop them, only thing is sell, VP had one good season and Arsenal tried to get him to stay, would you have given him a contract the years before when he was always injured...

Agree0 Disagree0

Take your negativity elsewhere. I've had enough of reading your comments

Paul

Fed up with this idea that somehow either AW or the board WANTED to sell RVP and previously Cesc......BOTH these players were going whatever Arsenal did or didn't do and all the speculation is just spin to make it look like players were all keen to stay but somehow the poor dears were forced out!!
If Arsenal had said ok we keep cesc another year - they would lose 35 mill plus his wages and what if he decided to rest up sick so he would be nice and fresh for Barca on a free?? Same for RVP- in his case he had enough rest periods in his time with us.
Even Man u couldn't keep CR when he decided to go

I love the way people keep saying he had 1 good season - are you daft? Robin's last 4 seasons with us;

Games Goals
44 20
19 10
33 22
48 37

Think you need to wind your neck in about RVP only having 'one good season' let's be honest with ourselves he was exceptional whenever he was on the pitch and he dominated every year. Even in the one where he only had 19 games he still scored more goals than many strikers do by the end of an entire season. We sold a diamond for peanuts, end of. We should have let him run his contract down, he still would have banged them in for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't get why people say we should have extended his contact earlier. We knew he was class but he was always injured n surely at the time 2/3 years ago it seemed a better idea not to extend the contract of someone injury prone. Sadly it didn't work out well for us.
a example of what in saying is diaby. We know he's class but always injured. Would be stupid extending his contract now. And everyone here would question it. He could be injury free next season and have a blinder and go on a free and we'd all complain like we do about rvp

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, he was totally underrated in the "injured" seasons he played with us. i am lead to believe in quotes that he wasnt particularly impressed with podolski or giroud's signings and was set on leaving, but when cazorla was added he was actually quite upbeat and fancied the team's chances and fancied staying but was told that he was going, if that proves to be the case then I am geuninely unimpressed.
It has proven to be though that if a strong team plays around one or two good players then can contend in this league as proven with man utd...not the best team they ever had but have that sparkle which sadly we havent got. rvp with the team we have with Jack on all cylinders could have mounted a serious challenge..song missing would not have made that much difference with the quality up front.....honestly....falcao no......huntelaar no.....ibrahamovic (dream )yes. cavani (dream) yes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Van Persie wanted to leave he made that decision!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Should have let his contract run down with RVP. The others had to be sold. The difference, even last season arsenal would not have come close to 3rd or even 4th without RVP. We were ordinary last year too, its just that RVP allowed us to pick up a ridiculous amount of points.

This season, he would have done the same. In fact he is making an average Man U, look stunning. His goals for us this year would be the difference between 4th and 5th I feel and that is worth more than 24mill.

Not to mention, other benefits of us performing this year.

Bad business. Current owners are sinking an unsinkable ship. Arsenal to be well supported mid table team, like liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we had kept Van Persie, I reckon we would be 1st or 2nd. Infact, I'd go as far to say had we kept him, we would win the league.

I would have happily let him go on a free for that. He may have re-signed if we won the league as well.

Allegedly he wanted Real or Barca, they didn't come and so he resigned to stay but was sold. Don't get me wrong, I don't want a player pulling on the shirt if he doesn't want to be here but he really would have made all the difference. Not to mention, him leaving is probably part of the reason the team are under performing right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we fail to qualify for the champions league then the loss of revenue will be more than that we received for the sale of RVP- - and its not as if the money we got for him has been reinvested into the squad.
how many games this season has RVP een the difference for Utd? he's probably personally responsible for 12-14 points already.

basically, he should have been made to honour his contract - the way the club dealt with the whole situation was pathetic

Reports in Glasgow saying that Wegner has sanctioned the move to sign Celtic's Victor Wanyama and an £18 million fee + add ons has been agreed for the summer. Arsenal gave Celtic a list of players that they could loan for the season if they accepted £15 million but none of the players interested the Celtic management.

Reports I've seen suggest he's going to Man Utd - funded by the sale of Nani.

As a Scottish Gooner, be in no doubt, this guy is the real deal.
Great physique, strong in the tackle and an engine that makes him run all day. At 21, has the potential to be the PV we need for the next decade. If it means waiting until the summer so be it, just make sure the deal is tied up now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see him at Arsenal, he's going to be a star at the top level. I follow both Arsenal and Celtic (yeah, I know you can't support two teams) but I do :) Celtic are cheaper to watch.

I've seen big Vic play 4 times this season and I can honestly say he looks like the real deal. I'm no scout, however when you see a proper player you know and Vic is one, he certainly wouldn't be out of his depth playing for a big Premiership team, even at such a young age and in his demanding position on the pitch

Agree0 Disagree0

"Arsenal gave Celtic a list of players that they could loan for the season if they accepted £15 million but none of the players interested the Celtic management."

Only bit that was believable.

Shows how tragic Arsenal really are at the moment. Nevertheless Arsenal is love of my life.

im not just saying this cos i am a ranngers & arsenal fan, but i hope we dont get him. hes not THAT good. Deffo not worth anywhere near the figures quoted.

would be value at 7-8 million tho. but if you ask me, Frimps looks the better prospect

Agree0 Disagree0

To the guy above, frimps better than Wanyama? keep off the solvents ya clown.

Another report this morning linking Wenger with Stewart Downing.
Wenger is a long time admirer of Downing.

Both Mail and Mirror reported Arsenal interest back in late Nov 2012 with speculation linking Arsenal with a swop deal with Walcott going to Anfield.

Arsene also wants Sterling so looks like Downing and Sterling may move to the Gunners {Ed002's Note - I think Downing is more likely to return to Boro than move to Arsenal.}

Believable3 Unbelievable61

Have you seen Downing play? why would we want a winger with no pace who cant cross?

Ash

Agree0 Disagree0

If we signed Downing, that would be the final nail in the coffin.

Agree0 Disagree0

Downing!! we dont want him he would be better off in Downing street.

Ox is being wasted playing on the right. He's young and is just as good as a left winger and I think can play in midfield if needed. He should be given the freedom to be versatile.

Believable51 Unbelievable9

Most of his best performances were when he was on the left (Theo was on the right) last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I still think ox is wasted.......i think he has the skill physique and ability to be playing in the rooney mould.....out wide a waste....straight behind giroud is best....he "should" be there scoring a lot more than he currently does.

so ed ? do you see a very busy january for arsenal because at the moment we are linked to every one possible but as we know 99% of these link players are not true but im asking for your opinion do you see arsenal being very regarding players coming in {Ed001's Note - no, I really don't expect much to happen in January, it is just not a good time to buy.}

Believable21 Unbelievable4

You cant buy good players in January, so we get a load more crap to try and get 10th.

Ed, do you see arsenal strengthening their left back position this January, if so who are their targets? {Ed001's Note - I believe they are looking at Jetro Willems, I have been told Arsenal scouts have watched him repeatedly. That would suggest they are looking for a left back. I am not convinced it will happen in January though.}
