Absolutely shocking we didn’t go for him disgusted with afc.

{Ed002's Note - I explained earlier in the week that Arsenal had asked to speak with Ancelotti. You have to remember the reason why the first choice turned it down - he was asked can you work with these players - the alternate being a buy to sell situation - and if you are selling a £50M player you will only get something like £42M to buy with - and that will be reduced by agent fees and other costs, so assume perhaps £35M will be available. The club were stupid in the summer - as was explained repeatedly at the time.}

How much do you think we'll raise? Assuming a 70% reinvestment of fees, we might get 42m from Auba, about 5m from Elneny, and potentially another 15 from Xhaka + Mustafi if there are any takers. Assuming Ozil is going to Turkey or the US, that could be another 15m. We could be looking at anywhere from 35m to 70m depending on who's outbound.

The bare bones that are left, plus some canny additions, are worth top 6 maybe. I'd be fine with that if we could spend next season putting together a decent squad with some defensive abilities for a top 4 push.

Hey ED, Did you ever say who that first choice was? I’m so lost with this manager situation.

The pictures of Vinai and Huss Fahmy visited Arteta’s home after the game surfaced. Looks like Arteta is the done deal?

Dreadful choice. I would prefer Fat Sam. At least he would sort out the defence.

Isn't he just 1 of the 12 and counting people we would like to talk to?
Arsenal playing City seems like an ideal time to talk to Just 1 of the secret 12.
If we were playing Nice and had permission I'm sure we would have took the opportunity to meet with Vieira?

I'm not saying Artetta won't be our next manager but I do remember lots of people wrongly crowning him king back in 2017 before Emery arrived.

No point in panicking or getting upset about something that hasn't even happend yet and might not ever happen at all.

I can't share your excitement for the prospect Stephen but I do really hope you and Artetta prove the vast majority of fans wrong should it actually come to him getting the job one day.

I think the most infuriating thing is why Arteta? What has he done to even be mentioned? ‘Worked under pep’ wow. But he needs backing by the fans if he is to come in. The board will have to ship some dead wood out and back him in January and the summer coming. This job could 100% ruin his career though.

I agree with all that 93 mate being ex Arsenal doesn't automatically make you a good bet and apparently Steve Clarke was an absolutely excellent coach but hasn't been as successful as a number 1.
Fredie and Mertesacker have shown you need a lot lot more than just being an ex player to step up to the very top job and let's face they are completely lost and remind me of the very long serving Newcastle coach who's name is can't remember but he was given the job and struggled big time all the time he had it, Just as Fredie is now.
IF Artetta is to become our next manager then we absolutely have to get behind him and give him a fair chance to convince us we've underestimated his abilities and with that I wish him every success.

Personally I hope arteta is named manager, I guess looking on here that’s against popular opinion but my reason isn’t because he has ‘arsenal In his DNA’ but rather because when I’ve watched arteta on the sidelines he is different from most no2’s in the sense he is engaged with the game tactically and has direct influence in wha is happening even with pep there in arguably one of the best teams in the world, sure he is inexperienced and a gamble but wtf we got to lose? I mean really? We are a shadow of anything I’ve ever seen in the red and white and I truly think regardless of who comes in they will Struggle to sort our def, but I think arrears understanding of the game will see him come good.
