Vertoghen rumours getting serious now. Ajax confirmed that it is likely he will leave in January. Any thoughts ED ? {Ed001's Note - not really, I haven't heard anything one way or the other regarding him recently.}

Stand by your beds, Arsene is getting the cheque book out.......or maybe not.

Agree0 Disagree0

BBC website saying the same things mate. Genius move, versatile and a proven defensive pairing with Vermaelen.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would be a fantastic signing. We would then have four top class CB's and I believe both Vermaelen & Vertoghen can also play at left-back, which will give us the options of pusing Gibbs & Santos forward into midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont see vertoghen coming at all. We have 4 varying quality centre backs, dont forget last year Djourou looked great when fit. Koscielny/Mert/Verm all starting quality. Gibbs/Santos has us covered at left back.

If we hadn't have bought Santos or Mert then i'd say yes, but we did so he wont come

AT LAST! Something coming out saying we're chasing De Rossi! Love this player.

Again, thoughts?

Is He That Good?

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did u hear that rumour? Is his contract up this year or did he sign a new one?
RD

Lets just hope mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Love this player! Please let this be true.

Apparently a 59 million bid was put in by Chelsea and rejected though....

WE CAN DREAM.

Gilo

Agree0 Disagree0

De Rossi will never leave Roma. If he somehow does, he'll be slotting in next to Yaya in the City midfield, that I can guarantee you. He's been City's number one target since they signed Nasri.

And yes, he absolutely is that good. Like a combative Xabi Alonso. It sucks we can in no way hope of signing a player like him. I'm hoping that's what Frimpong turns into.

US Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Really?! I never heard that one Gilo, that is mad.

It's on the transfer updates vid on givemefootball, it said that reports in Italy suggest that Arsene is considering a move in the summer....takes the excitement out a bit but still.

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

That is just a load of rubbish. No way he will join arsenal with man city and real intrested. 99 percent of rumours are just made up

Is De Rossi not available on a Bosman in the Summer?

Gilo

Agree0 Disagree0

P.s. I know nothing about his value, his availability, nor his contract details, all I know is I read an article that said he could be a summer target or us. To the random schoolboy telling me to date someone (although I'm not sure who) why don't you come back when you're old enough to stay up past 10 O'clock without getting into trouble?

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish rumopur, will never happen. Wish people would think for themselves rather than just repeat made up stuff.

Agree0 Disagree0

Raz...how do you know its the same "tool"? Mind you, it takes one to know one.

Agree0 Disagree0

De Rossi's contract will expire in the summer. He will most likely sign a new contract. If he doesn't he will go abroad but not to Arsenal. His wages will be absolutely massive. At least 200k per week.

City or Madrid are his likely destinations. Perhaps Chelsea since Essien's career looks to be all but over and Mikel isn't half the player they had hoped. {Ed002's Note - Essien's career all but over? He will be fit again by Christmas and the club are doing what they can to avoid him going to the ACN.}

Agree0 Disagree0

In the Gazzetta dello Sport they claimed Wenger wanted De Rossi but cited caughtoffside.com as a source so you know how accurate that is. Shame because I think US Gooner is spot on calling him a combative Xabi Alonso, great player.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just done see how or why City or Madrid would want him?

Lassana diarra came out recently saying Roma would be his ideal destination. and he plays the same position as Rossi.

Madrid already have khedira, alonso and sahin to play that position. i dont see them buying a CDM when they want to buy neymar and hazard.

Mancity have barry, toure and de jong who play in that position adding rossi will push one or two of those players out of the club. but i guess man city are good at pushing players out of the club.

Zanetti revealed that inter are interested in tevez and city are already scouting for a striker, considering they have 3 already.

I will leave the buying to wenger. if they do indeed get rossi then Mvilla is more easily attracted to arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Raz how could you possibly know its the same person. Its not i tell you now. I assume more than one person thinks you talk utter s***. Hope this don't offend anyone.

Arsenal are currently going through Germany to find a highly rated German striker, but favourite is Papiss Cissé

According to most of the media out there (papers, internet etc, etc) these are the players coming to Arsenal in January. Even though Eden Hazard has been one of the highly talked about players, It would not make sense to get him in January ( pricy!), that is why he is excluded from list. These are the ones that would add to the team:
Y'ann Mvila rated @25M but can arrive for 17M pounds
Lucas Podolski rated @20M but can arrive for 12M pounds
Jan Vertonghen can arrive @ Emirates for 15M Pounds
Mario Goetze can arrive @ Emirates for 25M
Esteban Granero can arrive @ Emirates for a bargain of 10M pounds
Total of 90M Pounds spending for January. This would be a super team.

Believable8 Unbelievable42

We would never spend 90m in one transfer window let alone in January! Also this would not happen unless we sold at least: ARshavin, Denilson, Rosicky, Benayoun (end loan), Diaby, to make room for the midfielders coming in. Then we'd have to sell Chamakh or Park to allow for a striker. As for Vertonghen - no way would Wenger bring him without giving Santos a season, he's too nice. Just my thoughts but I don't see any of these players coming. I could picture Lucho Gonzales coming from Marseille, and maybe Podolski, but most of these are dependent on us selling squad players.
Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

We'd be lucky if even two of those deals were completed but even that is a big stretch. And Gotze will go for a lot more than 25million. He's already a better play than Hazard and actually has a good attitude.

I'd love to see Vertonghen and Podolski.

Vertonghen would be great because of his versatility. He could fill in at centre back, full back, and defensive midfield. He wouldn't be too expensive either.

Podolski would be such a steal. Fantastic player who is drastically underrated because he didn't mesh well at Bayern. Very physical, fast, experienced, and has a cannon for a left foot. I don't know if we'd bring in someone in his position considering he usually plays where Walcott does and that's also where Ryo and Ox prefer to play.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the above post, Podolski and Vertonghen are probably the most likely. Ajax have said they are prepared to lose him January. I doubt he would consider him at left back, far more likely in midfield or CB. The Podolski rumours are gathering pace and he would'nt play on the wings but as a striker, with or instead of Van Persie, the guy needs a break, he's never worked a full season!

Agree0 Disagree0

90m!! On standard Arsenal approach to transfers that would mean we have to bring in 120m in transfers out (they always aim to make a profit and often do). So I guess we would have to sell our entire squad.
Arsene will not spend 20m let alone 90m. What's more he will never sign a player for more than 20m, they will keep saying they will but they simply won't. Look at our big summer signing 10m, doesn't even register with most big clubs. Goetze will never come near Arsenal, and neither will M'Vila well unless they are playing for Chelsea or United.

Agree0 Disagree0

We r talking abt our club which is aresnal and not man city

Believable16 Unbelievable22

Please god let this be true!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be awesome. Also heard we are in deep discussions for getting Rodwell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Please no! We need to move forward, not backwards!

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope your source is reliable, David Dein is the man to sort us out.. A few signings after Christmas and get mr Dein onboard we would definately be a force in football again
