I know theres been a lot of talk about Lucas Moura (not directly with us) but just curious has there been any price set by sao paulo?? {Ed002's Note - If Lucas Moura becomes available I suspect he will end up in Italy. Lucas was enquired about by Liverpool (amongst numerous teams) in the summer and the quoted price was $130M. He may eventually be sold for much less but way more than any English side will pay for an unproven teenager - with figures around 35M euros being suggested. There is, in my view, no chance of him moving to England or to Liverpool in the short term. If pushed, Roma or one of the Milan clubs could attract him away from his other option - a move to Portugal with perhaps third party ownership. However, I doubt he will leave Brazil for perhaps a year or two.}

Eds just wanted to ask do you know anything about Samba? I can't understand why he would want to leave Blackburn, prem regulars, for QPR, even if he does like working for Hughes. That just makes so little sense as a career move. Is it genuinely likely or is he going to be going to a top 6 side like he deserves?

Cheers,

Raz {Ed002's Note - I can only suspect that he is not happy at the club right now - and given the off field issues it is hardly a surprise.}

Believable6 Unbelievable1

If we moved TV5 to LB fulltime, which I'm not opposed to because he actually knows how to shoot on goal (can he teach Chamakh and Gervinho this), pretty damn well if you ask me, I'd be all for Samba

Samba and Mert would be a heated battle for playing time, something we need

Yet more evidence that if Ramsey was good enough, he'd be in this list:

sport.uk.msn.com/blog/talking-tactics-blogpost.aspx?post=26cdeb4c-c467-4fe3-b412-f8412cd8d9d2&_nwpt=1

I would take both of the Swans' mids over him any day.

Our only player on that list is Arteta. Tells you about what he brings to this team. A permanent outlet for the defence, and the man who spreads the play from the back to the front.

Raz

Believable9 Unbelievable12

I hope you are saying that he's not good enough YET because that is a sentiment I can agree with. If you're saying he's not good enough at all... yikes. Gilo has the right of it though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm saying if he had been good enough this season he's be on it....
Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramsey's legs are EXHAUSTED. This is his FIRST FULL SEASON after injury. He's 21.

With Wilshere and Diaby hurt, and Deench not ready yet, Ramsey has been playing in almost EVERY match. He needs rest, big time. These are boys, not machines...

US Gooner

Agree3 Disagree0

Ramsey would be world class if it wasnt for Shawcross. I still cannot believe he is allowed to play football after what he did, and why didnt the police in England do anything?
sorry for the rant but i hate these talentless English thugs who ruin the EPL.

Indian Gooner {Ed027's Note -the lad was in tears, it was clear he didnt mean it, how can you say that

Agree3 Disagree1

Shawcross has a history of being a thug, there have been numerous articles citing multiple instances where he did, or could have caused very serious injuries...

That being said, we must move on...

US Gooner

Leon Britton, the greatest midfielder in Europe, was an Arsenal player from the age of nine until we let him go to West Ham when he was sixteen.

We'd be champions of the world by now if Arsene hadn't let him go. Yet another reason why Wenger should be eviscerated in front of his family. The dirty French scoundrel!

Stezza...

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, conclusive evidence, also proving that John Terry is the 3rd best passer of the ball in the world. Get a grip.

Arsenal manager next season...Jurgon Klopp from Dortmund.

The German Spy

Believable12 Unbelievable25

Mm bring goetze kagawa and hummels with him!

Agree7 Disagree5

TBH as much as I love wenger if klopp came and bought gotze hummels etc with him I'd take it!

Agree6 Disagree5

The Same guy Who With A Full Team Couldnt Get Out Of The Cl Group stages?

Agree3 Disagree1

I wouldnt mind a different perspective, a more positive mindset, a winning mentality and a manager who holds his players responsible. Wenger can join the accounts department of course.

Ash

Agree3 Disagree2

This is definitely my choice of manager love what he has done at BVB.

Gilo

Agree2 Disagree0

I would not apply for my season ticket which i have had for 25 years if wenger left!!!!!

Agree4 Disagree4

Above poster what a stupid comment to make can't be a true fan if you'd stop your season ticket if they replaced arsene young to games to support the team no matter who the manager is but he clearly ain't the manager he used to be 7 years without silverware is not exceptable for a team as big as arsenal you must of missed a few games if you can't see we need a major change at the club and if it's to replace wenger then so be it and i think any real fans would agree and still buy there season tickets, one of the worst posts I've witnessed on this site I'm afraid to say
Gunner14

See ya, because if things did not change i was going to give up the ones i have had for over 30 years

Agree2 Disagree0

Bulls**t. 30 years haha, no true fan would give up a season ticket because we were not winning every game.

Gilo

Agree0 Disagree0

Remi garde?

Agree0 Disagree1

As much as I think Klopp would be a great manager - I would also like Brendon Rogers. Swansea's style of football is like the Arsenal of old - and you can see what he has done with a team like SC - imagine what he could do with our list (+ some extras!)

Agree2 Disagree0

I'll pretend I never read this on this site.

Imagine a United fan willing to axe Sir Alex if it meant the Santos coach brings Neymar and Ganso.

This sort of fickleness deserves on to be on the ManC's page...

US Gooner

Gilo
i dont give a crap what you think
i have been a season ticket holder for over 30 years and have said for the last 4 i was not willing to to spend any more money on the club if they were not willing to do the same on quality players.
and each year i have caved in and carried on renewing them.
but mark my words they have up until the renewal time next season if there is no change i will not be renewing them.
and its a pity a few more did the same.
people can back the board and wenger if they want with there sub standard players and performances but not me any more, and if you think its just me your wrong,i was at swansea on sunday and that team and wenger were a disgrace.
so they have until the summer renewal time because i will not be contributing to wages any more like chamakh, wallcot and the rest of the muppets wenger has signed over the last 5 years.
i think i have been loyal to the club long enough with time and money over the years.
so slag me as much as you want if the club dont care why should i

Agree1 Disagree0

Arsenal Football Club wishes you, and your saved wages, the best of luck moving forward...

Agree2 Disagree0

"i would not apply for my season ticket which i have had for 25 years if wenger left!!! "

this is the sort of fan that scares me tbh-

i am a arsenal fan 1st, always have been, always will be- not a wenger fan or any other manager for that fact...managers come and go, the club is constant.

not saying i don't like or thank wenger, on the contrary, but if there ever needs to be change...? there needs to be a change, if its for the benefit of the club, no manager, player or board member can be more important than that.

Agree1 Disagree0

Your a dick, you think Wenger should go? Man you should go support city or Barca. We don't want person little fans like you. If you don't like it then give up your ticket to a true fan.

ARSENE WENGERS RED AND WHITE ARMY!!

Agree0 Disagree2

Very true that is why i am sick to the teeth
since when has wenger been bigger than the club.
i miss highbury so much
better class of fan, better atmosphere,
we were even on top of the directors now there all hid away.
it use to about the football.
and to the above poster who says arsenal wish me luck.
i would put my life on it you dont spend 100 pounds a year on arsenal so dont worry about what i a going to do with my money.

Agree1 Disagree0

IN WENGER WE RUST

Agree1 Disagree0

I love wenger but i love the club more, the rolling stones don't make great songs anymore, bruce willis doesn't make great films anymore, they all go off the boil in the end and the same goes for managers.
he's 62 and the squad will need massive rebuilding in the summer if additions aren't made this jan and we have another season like last which is very very likely and perhaps it will be worse.
bit dopey for people to call people out about having different opinions. it doesn't look good for us right now but life goes on.

charles eddy

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not a question of who's the bigger fan, we all love our club, but seriously anyone who is happy at the direction we are heading is deluded. I can fully understand people who say they have been season ticket holders for so many years and willing to stop because thats the BEST way a fan can make their sentiments heard, the fastest way the board will hear us is if it hurts their pockets (tickets, merchandise..). The comparison with Fergie are not proper as he has continued to win trophies while rebuilding.

Ash

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather Van Basten with Bergkamp over Klopp.

Apparently Arsene Wenger is persuing interest in a Spanish Under 21 International called Alvaro Morata who currently plays for Real Madrid, but after some differences with Jose Mourinho it seems he is looking to move elsewhere.

Could the striker be a great potential or is it another typical Wenger signings, personally judging by Spain's U21 performances i watched in the Summer any of those players i think would be a great asset to the team.

Yet this does not solve our defensive difficulties.

Believable11 Unbelievable5

As I have said before, Madrid is my 2nd team.

Morata is a future number 9, and exactly what we need. He and Sarabia were the crown jewels of the Cantera last year, although Jese gets a fair amount of hype too.

He is a pure number 9, tremendous touch, with the ability to set himself up for a shot in close spaces. He's very similar to Torres.

I'd sign him in a heartbeat, but whether they're looking to sell and he wants to leave Spain is debatable. A sell and buy-back option to Getafe, basically Madrid B for Liga, seems more likely.

US Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Who do you support when we have to play them
wtf who on here has a 2nd team
and you try to give advice on arsenal matters

US Gooner. Can't believe it. These are my teams too. For real. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers mate, Madrid is love/hate, I think we lose respect every year due to Florentino's antics. The way we treated Sneijder, Robben, etc. Di Maria, Ozil, Gonz and Benz are the future there

Love the Giallorossi...Totti and RVP is my secret fantasy...if we could ever have a charity match or something. Just to see them link up...

De Rossi is the man Fabregas could never be...

How bad must things be at arsenal when Newcastle are making better signings than we ate cabaye, Ba and now in talks over signing papiss cisse who would be another great signing for them sad times for AFC

Believable18 Unbelievable8

Apparently Blackburn have bid for Honda too...Fulham land Ruiz....

Agree5 Disagree1

I wanted pappis at arsenal =(

Agree1 Disagree2

Yeah because over the Summer everyone on here wanted Ba and Cabaye didn't they haha.

Gilo

Agree5 Disagree0

Well truth is in the summer most people said that demba ba is not good enough

Agree3 Disagree0

Look its like this
some people is not wenger when was the last time he signed a prolific instant goal scorer
there have been too many bad signings
chamachk, bendtner, vela, park we dont need any more experiments
WE NEED EXPERIENCE PROLIFIC
1 man for me benzeman
break the bank and pay the wages

Agree3 Disagree1

Exactly imagine the headline:

'Arsenal buy Championship striker on a free!'

Everyone would have been ecstatic...

Gilo

Agree1 Disagree0

I new cabaye was good enough he proved that at his last club I'll give you Ba but cisse's stats speak for his talent but wenger only looks for players that will be good in 5 years time then never plays them and they start losing there talent every other club mainly looks at who will improve there club now
Gunner14

Agree1 Disagree0

Wouldn be buying if there free?

Agree2 Disagree0

True, there have been too many bad signings lately. Wenger should give up the experimentations and spend big once or twice.

Ash

Agree1 Disagree0

Gilo I'm not so sure that's fair mate - not all of us were saying he's not good enough, in fact quite the opposite, although many were, and also he's hardly a championship striker that's why he had the release clause in his contract that he could go for free if WH got relegated.

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Never said he was a Championship striker, but It's just if Wenger bought him people would have nagged for lack of ambition like why didn't we sign Falcao for 35 million or whatever.

Just seems another excuse to get a dig at Wenger.

Gilo

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah true there are deffo cases where he can't win either way....

tv5 is playing more better in the position of CB ,we need a player like clichy to cover the LB,players like jordi alba ,taylor from swansea is good

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Well done captain obvious.

Agree6 Disagree1

Clichy was pure c**p. I can't remember one good cross from him, defending also poor. How many times someone outjumped him and scores...

Man Utd and Liverpool r looking at Crystal Palace player Wilfried Zaha...Havent seen much of him but he is meant to be a future star...thoughts? Wonder if Arsenal have an eye on him

Marty

Believable0 Unbelievable11

Hope not despite this kid looking very good, we need players that we can be more than certain of delivering now and not next season or the season after that. however if we aren't buying at all then why not put a sizeable marker down on the kid if he is that good, let continue his development at palace for a couple of years.

dulwich red

apparently Papiss Cisse is ''flattered'' to be linked with Sunderland. why on earth arent we in for him?! 31 goals in 47 games last 2 seasons...

Oleg Maputo

Believable14 Unbelievable2

My friend, you must surely know by now that if it's a signing that makes sense, then it is very unlikely to happen?
Raz

Carlo ancelotti has said he wanted to wait till the end of the season to get the arsenal or spurs job but he got impatient and joined psg.

So maybe the rumour about wenger leaving has some legs, maybe Carlo knew something we didn't about our club and manager, it's safe to assume that he think Harry will be taking the England job so the spurs position would be open but why does he think he had a chance at arsenal?

Believable6 Unbelievable11

Wenger is moving on at end of summer, where to, who can say? Our new boss will be the Serbian currently working at wengers old Japenese club, Grampus 8.

Agree0 Disagree1

Eh? how do u know carlo got impatient and how do you know he knew something about wenger leaving. he might of thought wenger wud get sacked but he doesnt know and he joined psg cuz he will get paid more and will spend more.

Agree1 Disagree0

Er because he said so himself! Why would I just make it up!

Agree1 Disagree1

Rumour always was that board had approached Ancelotti the same day he got the boot from Chelsea about taking over at Arsenal, with interest if not agreement in place they bottled sacking Wenger.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2012 12:31:26
Yuppy! Squid is leaving! That means one free place in the squad to register a LB as Wenger was hinting at signing a LB.

Also heard that Thomas is close to seal a move away...that is another place available...could we get the creative midfielder we were dreaming about?

And remember that also any under 21 bought can play straight into the team without affecting the 25 man rule, so players like Morata are still a possibility.

Romanian Gooner

Believable4 Unbelievable5

How do you know he is leaving mate?
I just had a quick look and tbh all I found online was a few articles from november and december saying we will be looking to offload Squid, Chambles, Arsh and Ros in Jan...and nothing else.

What does anyone think about the RVP to Barcelona rumours, obviously impossible now but at the end of the season.

GoonerDan

Believable9 Unbelievable15

I don't know why but I think RVP would flop at Barca...
Raz

If we dont make take 4 its very possible. Think Barca r getting rid of Villa, so RVP might b lined up for his spot

Agree1 Disagree0

The Fact They Haven't Finished Paying For Hleb And Henry Is Interesting.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt you leave after watching ur defence give away games e.g. swansea, fulham, blackburn, man utd, tottenham.....the list goes on

Agree2 Disagree0

A 29yr old RVP will not start in front of Messi, Fab or Sanchez. Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta are locks to start with Thiago pushing hard.

www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/jan/16/robin-van-persie-arsenal-loyalty

I hate to say it but if i was him id go, hes been loyal for us for a long time and hes not known for moving clubs so one more big move in him (+well really struggle to keep him if we finish 5/6 and he performes at the euros!)

We should get Samba then TV5 would solve our LB problems and he could be good cover for Song

Sagna KOS Samba TV5

we would never have to worrie about our deffence untill they all get injured lol

Rainham Gunner

Believable9 Unbelievable12

I think Vermaelen makes a great CB, he is fine for cover at LB but the greater benefit for the club will be playing him at CB.

Agree7 Disagree0

I agree he is best at CB but he dose a great job at LB too and the way we get injurys one more CB could not hurt and would realy push players to play for there place if they had seroius competition if and if we are going to keep hold of Gibbs we need players that can step in

Rainham Gunner

Agree2 Disagree0

I actually like TV5 at LB, as it forces him to push up and he's able to get 3-4 shots off a match, and we need that. His shooting is lethal, and unlike most of our players, he knows how to shoot

NO NO NOOO PLEASE OH DEAR GOD NO!

Agree8 Disagree3

Why do people want wayne bridge? do we not remember his awful display for west ham when he was on loan there last season?
gunner89

Agree8 Disagree2

I never believed that Abidal would be signed by Arsenal. Wayne Bridge, no thanks. Vermaelen should be fit for Sunday's match & can fill in at LB. Then for the following match Sagna & Gibbs should be available, so the full-back problems will reduce. I would still like us to sign a LB, such as Cissokho & push Gibbs forward into midfield.

Agree5 Disagree1

Just to clarify, in my opinion our options were Abidal and Bridge, now Abidal is out of the equation, Bridge may be the only option, but god no i dont want this clown in an Arsenal shirt.

EDQ-85

Agree3 Disagree0

I'd rather bring lehmann back and play him at left back than have Wayne bridge at are team especially when his weekly wage is worth more than he is as a player absolute donkey would lose every bit of respect for wenger if he signs him
