The truth is AW can not turn back now. He believed he could build a squad from the bottom up and take on the world like Barca, trouble is, he shopped nearer to Barnet than Barca.
Like any drowning man, he has realised he swam out too far, and its too late to turn back.
This was an experiment at our expense, and we will live with the consequences long after AW has gone. No one manager will be able to come in and clear what is needed out of the squad, nor will he be able to spend or fund the players needed to get Arsenal back to were they should be, its a catch 22 vicious circle.
AW is showing no signs of changing, promised this would be a big summer a 19 yr old from Charlton with no experience, another french potential with little credentials behind him, and yet another 19 yr old that will have to be loaned out.
This with the loss of clichy and the uncertainty over cesc and nasri, is this what was needed to streghten our squad?
The likes of Bendtner, denilson, almunia and eboue are still with us (u know the deadwood) why? because no one really wants them, its not bitterness or negativity it is fact, denilson is being loaned back from where he came What does that tell us about the quality of our so called youth players.
Like it or not, we are stuck with the one more year brigade, who believe that with no real changes we will storm the world of football.
AW will go down in history as the most successful manger at arsenal, that went 7 years without a trophy and turned us into a laughing stock in the epl, that is trully a shame.
I'm Still clinging onto a small glimmer of hope that the tour in China showed AW that squillaci and djourou will not cut it at any decent level, and maybe, just maybe cahill or jagielka may join.
I do not believe rumours of benzema, mata, or lukaku, i think this is paper talk and wishful thinking.
Those that have decided not to spend money on the club, i applaud you, it is not disloyal, it is your given right to choose how and where you spend your money, i have spent untold thousands over the years, i have a loft full of kits and video's dating to the 70's so i guess that does make me a proper fan, but i have turned down free tickets and did not attend 1 game last year, the first time in 30 years, simply because i will not fund this failed experiment, or give a cent to watch players such as eboue denilson diaby bendtner fabianski and the likes.
It isn't about winning i went many years with out it, i just can not support this board and manager acting in this manner of lies, deciet and disrespect to the fans that have stood by them for so long.
I said it many many months ago, the fans have more power than the board, they just need to be united, which clearly we are not, so little or nothing will change.
If i do get a new kit, i'll put Deja Vu on the back, mind you many people will think its some new wonder kid from france we have just signed.
ike.

Well said

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop complaining and support your team, look how close we came last season, even with the injuries we had, we will be stronger this coming season and the players are improving all the time, we will win something

Agree0 Disagree0

I wholeheartedly agree with your position. Wenger at heart is an academy coach. He even said that when he retires he will run an academy somewhere in africa and work on developing players.

I could write a long essay about how the war of direction between dein and fiszman hurt our club, but fiszman's direction "self sufficiency in the long term but no money in the short term" tied into Arsene Wenger's core being.

It means more to him for an Aaron Ramsey to become World Class in 2-3 years time than buying an already world class player. I also feel he has a problem with coexisting with strong characters in the dressing room who will challenge his authority. Being challenged by the people around you is how you become a better person in life and a better coach/manager in football.

I personally feel our success in the past with wenger was just as much to do with the Adams', Keowns' (he told Wenger that Toure could be a centre half if played every game) and the like challenging the manager.

The experiment working was wholly dependent on whether he could get the players we made decent or world class to stay, and so far he's failed miserably (hleb, adebayor, henry, pires, flamini, reyes, cole, and he's fighting a war to keep nasri and fabregas)

A lot of our players left before their time and I blame the manager for that.

Look at Barcelona, they do what we are trying to do, far better, and yet they still try and and sign superstars every season to freshen up the team and make sure they don't get stale (e.g. ibrahimovic, Villa, Alexis Sanchez, Neymar, I could go on.

I hope us gooners won't suffer for long but i'm not so sure

Ike, do you not think that AW has got way to much power at the club to the point there is no one behind him 'being his boss' and kicking him up the backside which DD more than likely used to do which is how he has been allowed to get away with using us as his pet project? Another reason the board probably have not done something sooner about him is this overriding notion that if he leaves there will be this mass player exodus because some players are loyal to AW not AFC. Just a thought.

Be careful what you say ike... the happy police will be after you...with chief inspector yeti ready to serve you a warrant for the crime of free speech.. your'e not a proper fan unless you agree with all of his posts, not to mention his jokes.. including the classic ''whobannedikegate''...
keep posting the truth mate.. it'll get through eventually...

Agree with most of that tho u seem to have not mentioned , aw took us to a big new stadium which we needed alot we cound only of done that buy getting fabregas , van persie , nasri , song , clichy . wilshire . kolo T and theo for a total of 25 mill haha now who else cound of done that but wenger , makes me mad to see him back that up with our pathetic goal keepers and defence that weve had over the last 3 - 4 years , wenger is a genius and a fool at the same time , far as iam concered he can sign cahill and samba and given or go ive had anuff , haha give me big sam cound u see him buy some of the clowns we have of late

tony too

Agree0 Disagree0

What a rediculous post. Arsenal are a laughing stock? what are you on. People think wenger is being too prudent with money and that he should spend for once, right. But what else? What other problems are there apart from economic ones? Arsenal could sign cahill and still concede loads at set pieces, then what ? is cahill terrible ? was the signing a waste of money ? your boring me with your emotional drivvel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Another post from someone who gets all their experience from playing Championship Manager, and hence thinks they know all the answers to solve our supposed "crisis".
Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but the fact is you don't know squat about what it takes to successfully manage a world class team. That's why AW gets paid millions to do what he does, and you're here trying to assembly an audience to listen to your nonsense argument.
I know who I'd rather listen to.
(btw, this site is brilliant.)

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow Talk about getting ones under garments in a twist ...

The AW years have been some of the greatest Arsenal years ever. Fact.

3 domestic trophies and 1 European adventure per year. Fact.

With only the likes of Man U (fantastic manager, huge support massive debt) Chelsea (loads of managers, wrong side of London and a sugar daddy keen on spending his ill gotten billions - for now) and Liverpool (good manager, excellent support, massive debt) getting anywhere near regular silverware, our haul looks pretty good in comparison.

With this newfangled interweb thingy, fans have been given the chance to express themselves like never before (beats wearing scarves around yer wrist and chucking seats on the pitch), yet lets not get carried away by it all.

This fab site, like others and the printed media etc, rely on constant content to make it in the mad bad world of talk-shopping ... but it ain't football.

When the chaps start kicking the ball around again is when the reality begins. We have an excellent squad - now and for the future, cheap too

You want to be more like the prawn sandwich brigade? Want a Barca style president manipulating and formenting trouble every election time? Want to open us up to IMF repayment numbers £££? Want a dodgy billionaire raiding everyone else's efforts for players and merely achieving mediocrity?

No thanks.

Healthy business that stays an arm length from the pitch, forward thinking manager that forces through best practice in training and technique - producing player after player that everyone else desires ... and great entertaining exciting football.

Grow a pair

Agree0 Disagree0

You have summed up all of my frustrations in one very insightful statement.

Agree0 Disagree0

I never post on this site, But i wish that people would stop all the s**t omg we didnt win a trophy for x years the league has got harder and you really think that its just AW that made it so we couldnt spend any money there are a lot of other people involed
Try backing your club people and stop actting like a load of f***ing Bitches we were very close last year that is a fact people seem to forget that we did well last year other teams catch up that what happen's deal with it

Agree0 Disagree0

Well this epic story of cynicism and melodrama made me chuckle.

You talk about the last six years as an 'experiment'. What are you on? Have you completely forgotten that 6 years ago, when we were moving to Emirates etc, AW and the board made it perfectly clear we would not be spending any money in the tf markets for at least 6 years. They stated quite clearly that it would be miraculous if we qualified for champions league during the next six years solely because of our inability to spend big, and that we would be focusing almost solely on youth development. The fact that this was 'playing into AW's hands' so to speak is mere coincidence, but it's funny how people have forgotten that we always said this would be our plan for about 5 or six years. Now that time has gone, and look how well we've been doing. NO we haven't won anything but nobody expected us to do any where near as well as we have, deffo not qualifying for champions league every year during the last 6.

There is a difference between frustration and disillusion and in one man's opinion it must be said that a lot of fans don't consider all the facts, just the ones that support their frustrated stance. I feel your pain but am under no illusion as to the qualities of AW, he has kept us in the game through thick and thin with a tighter than tight budget. Maybe he'll make more signings, maybe not, but don't forget, with all their singings etc Liverpool, Man Utd and chelsea will not gel as quickly as us and will still be played off the park by kids.

Have we signed Joel Campbell then? I could only find info on wikipedia and we all know any old tom, dick and night nurse can edit that site.

Just my opinion but I think he looks a good player from what I saw the other night, alright, it was only against Bolivia or some other marching powder rich country....but I thought he looked pacey, not afraid to go past players with the ball, liked to get stuck into a tackle (albeit mostly on the wrong end of one), has an eye for goal and takes free kicks...less than £1m would be a bargain,
I know he would be a squad player and not the marquee signing we are all desperate for...but all in all not bad....so don't start slaughtering the kid before the ink hasn't dried on his signature.

Another epl club has come in for him and offered him bigger wages so they (him and his family) are thinking it over

Agree0 Disagree0

No doubt will be Man U they just cant see us sign anyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Man utd dont need to stop us signing top players - wenger is allergic to them himself.

Just been told by a good source (news paper sports journo ) Benzema&Jagielka will be drafted in.Looks like deal for both will be done within next 7 - 10 days these will be the last ins this summer Wenger feels its time for Ramsey, frimpong and gibbs to step up.Bendtner could be used as a make weight for jagielka , Denilsons on his way to malaga 6mill ish.

Believable14 Unbelievable22

Your "source" may want to update his info. Denilson has already agreed a loan move back to his old club Sao Paulo for next season. Kinda throws your whole rumor into doubt.

Agree0 Disagree0

By any chance did your source work for the news of the world

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm pretty sure the denilson loan isn't confirmed. I'm willing to give this guy the benefit of the doubt...

Agree0 Disagree0

Denilson has confirmed it himself on Twitter. Pretty sure he knows more about it than your source.

Agree0 Disagree0

You lost me at Denilson going to Malaga 6mill ish, when everyone knows he is on his way back to Brazil

{Ed022's Note - Denilson will be signing on loan for Sao Paulo on a season long loan. This has been confirmed by the player himself.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate what about Campbell? He should be signed aswell Gary Cahill. Can Benzema only see if Nasri or Cesc are sold. Jagielka for Squillaci?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not the guy who made the original post, I just think that it's possible. I wouldnt be so quick to take twitter as a viable source btw.

Agree0 Disagree0

Normally I'd agree re: Twitter as a source. But since it was Denilson himself commenting on Twitter as to the move and not just a general Arsenal supporter or journo, that puts is squarely into the "more viable than not" category. Not to mention the fact that numerous Sao Paulo players and colleagues of Denilson were sending him "Welcome Home" messages on Twitter...

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok fair enough, I concede. Partly because I haven't got much more to say and partly because I seem to be fighting a corner that the original poster can't even be bothered to fight

I guess I just want at least ONE of the the rumours to be true, and not just be some hopeless twit killing some time. Ya know?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2011 20:01:08
I've heard fabregas going to barcelona for £30mill plus a player (hopefully affelly) and nasri to sign a new 3 year deal.

Believable16 Unbelievable23

That would be great, where did you hear this?

Agree0 Disagree0

Denilson Is On His Way Back 2 Sau Paulo On Loan I Think, Almunia Will Go Back 2 Spain, Squillachi Will Be Put On The Market If A CB is Bought, Bendtner Will Leave On Loan, Rosicky Will Be Put On The Market If Another Attacker Is Bought.
Basically Arsenal Have 2 Sell 2 Buy, As We Will Have 2 Many Players.

Gooner99

Believable17 Unbelievable9

Count the squad.Without Almunia, Denilson and Bentner we have 14 foreign players and 7 home grown, plus 4 under 21's who are genuine st teamers. Under prem rules we can still bring home grown plus 3 non-homegrown players

Agree0 Disagree0

2 right

Agree0 Disagree0

I cant see Squillachi or Rosicky being placed on the transfer market, regardless if someone else comes in, in their positions.

Agree0 Disagree0

If a cb does come in, one will have to leave, as bartley as already sed hel leave permanantly if another cb comes in, so so squilachi is the best bet

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2011 18:54:29
Apparently Everton have officially asked for a price for Bendeter...that rpobably means Phil Jagielkka will be coming our way. That would be great.

Believable25 Unbelievable18

'apparently'

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont arsenal value him at 12mill ...do everton have 12mill ....on loan maybe

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a loan

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2011 18:31:20
guys, arsene runs arsenal football club like a buiness, hes not gonna buy any1 for 20mil etc who hes knows will go down in price, looks what he did we henry and look what he has done to fabregas and nasri, brought them cheap when they were young and is now selling them each for 30 mil, this is all what wenger will do again, lets just hope he chooses wisely and gets another cesc or nasri or someone decent, let him do his job, he knows what he is doing,
IN WENGER I TRUST

Believable19 Unbelievable16

Wenger is doing an excellent job in terribly distorted financial circumstances. He is right to stay the course.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nasri cost nearly 15 mil, hardly cheap

Agree0 Disagree0

He paid 11 million for Henry and 11million for Nasri.. both untested in the premier league and young... So neither were exactly cheap.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes still making double that from him ? so yes it is cheap ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't mean it's cheap.. simply means that it was good business. A player like Vieira for 3.5million is a bargain.

That was the right market price for 2 previously untested players that were playing relatively average at domestic level

Agree0 Disagree0

So your another fan happy with 4th place. we wont get that this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately he will be left even further behind in his last season.pity he hasnt been able to spot defensive talent or a decent gk.hell make lots of money for shareholders but dont all start moaning when we win nothing again.ill still be buying my season tickets at top whack.

Agree0 Disagree0

When did i say i was happy with 4th place ? if wenger can get good young talent, then we can win ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah yes "good young talent" and wait another six years

Agree0 Disagree0

Young talent isnt enough. if we signed hazard, mata and benzema we would still not win the title

Agree0 Disagree0

Young talent with nobody more experienced to learn from, they don't succeed alone, we have all seen that. We are team crying out for some solid experienced pros to balance the team

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP= 27 years old
Arshavin 30
Sagna 28
Vermaelin 25
Squillaci 30 (not good enough, but bought as a leader w/ many international caps... he didn't work out and neither did Silvestre but that was the idea)

AW has many older "leaders". Even nasri and Cesc are 24 and have become 'leaders" on the pitch. This isn't a team of kids anymore so the calls for overhauling everything are ridiculous. Besides, a bunch of hired guns to win something wouldn't really be very satisfying either. A couple signings and we'll be fine. (And there's still a month and a half to go... relax.)

Agree0 Disagree0

Hired guns footballers today show no loyalty.lets win some trophies and not worry about hired guns

Spain's 1st Choice Left Back Juan Capdevilla, Is Available 4 Free, What A capture That Would Be, He Can Defend And He Can Attact, And At 33 He Is Pretty Experience, Hes's Won The Euros And The World Cup.

Believable22 Unbelievable16

This would be an excellent signing - not something wenger would do. maybe if he was 13 and not 33, it would be possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

Although i dont see it much, he is free which makes him more appealing. cmon arsene go get him

Agree0 Disagree0

Gooner99

Agree0 Disagree0

He's past his prime. A couple years ago he would have been fantastic. Gibbs and TV5 are both better.
He'd probably be fine if he was going sit back, but he can't hoof it up and down the wing anymore and we're not going chance out style for him.

Arsenal have signed 19 year old joel campbell from deportivo larissa which has come as a surprise to many and even the 19 year old costa rican.
MK GOONER

Believable30 Unbelievable10

Is it offical or just paper talk mr gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Official.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal have pulled a transfer surprise by snapping up young Costa Rica striker Joel Campbell from Deportivo Saprissa.

The 19-year-old scored against Bolivia in the tournament and will cost around £1million.

But Arsenal are set to face a battle to secure a work permit for their new signing, as he has not played in 75 per cent of his country's recent matches.

That could mean he will have to go on loan before heading to the Emirates.

From The Daily Mail.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has an irish grandfather so it shoudnt be a problem getting a work permit

Agree0 Disagree0

A deal is in place. we haven't 'officially' signed him yet
AM53

Agree0 Disagree0

Like AM53 said , deal is in place , but the player havent decided yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

If its not on arsenal.com, its not complete. this is a simple fact that people on here should make a note of.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just what arsenal need at the moment another player with "potential" good to the issues being addressed

Agree0 Disagree0

Great another kid who will not be troubling the first team for some years, not what we need to be honest.

With Real Madrid apparently willing to pay up to 39m for Neymar, do you think this could open up the path for a move for Benzema? I, d like to think so but would probably faint if Wenger ever pulled off a big move like this. Im still finding it hard to believe that the season is only 3 weeks away and we still haven't sorted out our defence. If anything its weaker now Clichy has gone. Even Gervinho isn't competed fully yet. Joke. {Ed002's Note - I suspect that wherever Neymar goes it won't be until at least January. A Real Madrid move for Tevez may open up a deal for Benzema.}

Believable3 Unbelievable16

After watching Neymar in the copa america, I'll be surprised if Real Madrid are still interested.

dear edds it has been reported cahill would cost 15-16m to purchase which is probally true.subotnic who is an excellant player but may well stay with his club how much roughtly do you think he would cost any club without a bidding war breaking out.
kind regards. {Ed002's Note - Subotic is a long-term target for Chelsea - he would cost a similar amount to Cahill. His "desire" is to play for Manchester United or Chelsea.}

Believable4 Unbelievable14

17 Jul 2011 14:25:12
we need experience defensively, why not bring in shay given for a couple seasons to school up the back 4? a commanding center backs been needed for years gary cahill would be good, mathew upson is available for nothing or is that overpriced for wenger, i like Alex at chelsea whos not a guaranteed starter there right now, Mexes ended up at A.C Milan for free cant believe wenger didnt go for him, theres also a young french centre back sakho who will be aleading CB in the future, Alex song needs competion and cover in that holding role, money NEEDS to be spent in this position, bring in quality daniel de rossi? jeremy toulalan? scott parker? even take a gamble an go for felipe melo hes a bad boy but the fans would love him and mite inspire the team to step it up, attacking wise we are exceptional and believe gervinho will make a big contribution cutting inside from out wide, even if fabregas or nasri stay i would love to see mata in an arsenal shirt, the guy is quality and approaching his prime it would show we mean buisiness, Benzema is unlikely but would be a massive coup and would compliment van persie perfectly, huntelaar can do a good job for us? lissandro lopez from lyon? there are quality buys out there we just need to accept we need need strong investment to challenge in the coming years, we still have the money from adebayor and toure why was this not reinvested inthe squad???? and now were expecting anothe 50million+ on the sales of denilson, bendtner, fabregas, nasri and clichy, this really will bee wengers biggest season and if he does not invest more than likely his last spend arsene wenger SPENDDDDDDD

Believable22 Unbelievable6

We all believe we need to spend. but what does it matter what we believe? its all up to the board, they control everything, and wenger does what he does by their rules. its they who need to believe that spending is required.

Agree0 Disagree0

Trouble is we have no money and cannot trade until Fab goes. I believe that we are fighting for fourth spot we cannot compete with utd chelsea and citeh. imo this is wenger and rice's last season. Wenger controls the board and until we have a manager that demands money we will continue our decline. just look at the 2004 team and how far we have fallen.......the stadium was meant to propel us forward but it has become a posion chalice until the debt is cleared. soz for being negative.

Jakey

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont mind you being negative, but at least get your facts right, the stadium is not a poison chalice anymore.

Agree0 Disagree0

Isnt the stadium paying for itself

Agree0 Disagree0

Apologies, if my facts are incorrect, but my understanding was that we still have £150m or so debt attributed to the Club of which relates to property deals that have yet to bear fruit (although some are meant to be going through soonest) so unless I am mistaken and I am happy for someone to provide clarification the stadium is still holding us back?

Jakey

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on mate couldnt agree more.people must realise wenger is not bigger than the club.he needs to invest quickly forget this in arsene we trust those days have gone, its a joke .

Agree0 Disagree0

A couple people need to be bought, but Upson, Alex, and Mexes? Really? Alex is alright, but they would hardly be upgrades.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you think squilacci , djourou and konscielny are better than those experienced international cbs? upson available for nothing and so was mexes until ac milan snapped him up on a bosman, i was just stating that if moneys an issue there are still experienced players available for nothing

i recently heard that the squad that wenger took to asia is the squad wenger is looking to build upon, with the exceptions of denilson and squallaci. they will be replaced by new signings.
fabregas will also leave and replacement will be bough for him 2. which leaves 2 places remaining to complete the squad i.e. 23 taken to asia tour minus squall n den n fab= 20 remaining in the squad. add the replacements= 23. which leaves 2 more signings, which are believed to be a mid and att.
therefore expect there 2 be 5 signings with 1 high profile i.e. fab replacement.
and 1 good CB most likely cahill.
and 3 non high profile signings.

hey ed is there any more news on lukaku and in ur personal opinion fab and nasri goin or stayin {Ed002's Note - Chelsea met with the Anderlecht general manager on Friday July 15 I am told that Van Holsbeeck is still looking for a figure in the region of 30M euros and that there are previously undeclared ownership issues to do with two other parties - one being Lukaku's father. Chelsea have made it clear that it is the responsibility of Anderlecht to deal with those third party payments and Chelsea were expecting Van Holsbeeck to have arrived for discussions accepting Chelsea were not interested in paying the sort of figure being suggested. It seems that this may continue to drag on for a while. Chelsea were told of interest from other clubs but I don't know if it is Arsenal or not, and I don't know of a bid. I rather doubt that £14M would interest Anderlecht even if it were true. I expect Fabregas to leave and the effort made by the club to try and get Nasri to stay.}

I think, Arsenal are not in for Samba. They have not even expressed an interest in him.

Instead it could be:
Cahill (with Miquel and Lansbury going the other way),
NZonzi (not Samba)
Enrique (Gibbs to be loaned out)
Hangeland is also a possibility (he has been under the radar quite suspiciously for so long)

- tg

Believable6 Unbelievable19

Lol 'under the radar' - OR maybe people arent interested? gibbs wasnt loaned out last season, why the hell would he be loaned out this season ?

Agree0 Disagree0

I very much doubt if wenger will go for a lb;there is no way gibbs will go on loan...

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger knew that last season would be clichys last hence why he sent traore out on loan to gain some exp so him and gibbs can fight it out for the vacant lb slot.. I genuinely believe another cb will be signed. but thats it imo

AW needs to realise his philosopy isn't working.we need to bring in new players who are loyal and passionate about winning.when we last won the league we had the likes of henry viera Campbell gilberto and pires. All players were passionate about arsenal but since they've moved on arsensl have lossed it's leaders and that is why we are always losing to united and Chelsea because they have a balance of youth and experience and leaders at Arsenal we are lacking that.I think wenger will sign lukakulu for youth and will be one for the future
Mata to add quality and to take over arshavin who is past his prime
Enrique to cover Lb
possibly Benzema
If fabregas and nasti leave he will aim for hamsik and lavezzi or Vidal
aswell a few Frenchman like sakho or m via. And maybe cahill for the English rule

Last season we won against them with our squad..

Agree0 Disagree0

Be very surprised if Lukaku signs for us as he has said he is a Chelsea fan because of Drogba, and we have only offered [if true] 14Mill, no way will he be sold for that amount, chels have already bid 18mill.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger is never going to sign all those players. WAKE UP

Agree0 Disagree0

'last season we won..'

yeh, but look at the end result of the season. Its much more important. Birmingham beat us in the cup and got relegated - to win a battle is not to win a war.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know wenger won't sign them all but I'm stating who we have been linked with and out of those wenger is bound to sign a couple

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is not the ability of our squad but the fact that we sit back and get lazy when playing lowe teams as we believe the match is a given.. we beat Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea AND were the only team to beat Barca in the CL last season.. all because we knew we had to fight in those matches, and we did.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree - Winning mentallity - that is the true problem/issue.

Apparently Arsenal have signed 19 year old Costa Rican striker Joey Campbell. The fee is believed to be around £1.5 million. Although young and inexperienced I do hope there are no work permit issues as he looks a decent finisher.

This has been confirmed by the strikers father and by Saprissa's president on costa rican radio. Source:arseblog, gunnerblog.

$ NOT £

IMO we NEED a CB and my personal preference is Cahill bit Samba & Hangeland are joint second. Not keen on anyone outside of the Premiership. I think Song is one of our best and most consistent performers. He needs competition for his place and a natural replacement for when he's at ACoN. Maschreno would be ideal if he was part of the cesc deal. Not sure about any barca players though as I doubt their loyalty to anything. De Rossi would be the best possible option though.

WE NEED BENZEMA, been saying it for years... I was also always on about torres from when he was 16 and changing his hair style after ever three goals If only

I'd like to see denilson go along with bendtner, and though I do like rosicky it's clear he's not good enough anymore. Diaby can stay or leave for all I care and that goes for eboue too but I seem to like him more than the rest of you.

Last thing, this Joel Campbell guy looks good on YouTube but if on YouTube you compare him to clips of vela, he doesn't seem anything special at all... Arsenal should do a barca and let vela go somewhere for 5 or six yrs, let him make a name for himself and then cry, bitch and moan until he comes back simply to do the world a favor by shutting them up

Good post- I agree with what you're saying here.

Agree0 Disagree0

NOT SURE WE CAN EXPECT TO SEE BENZEMA ALTHOUGH IT WOULD BE AMAZING BUT I AGREE FULLY WITH YOU REGARDING A CB AND AN ALTERNATIVE TO CHALLENGE SONG.

edd any news on joel cambell {Ed002's Note - If he is the Costa Rican lad I am aware that several clubs are interested but I am not sure that any agreement has yet been reached.}

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Saw it reported this morning that his father has said personal terms have been agreed with AFC.
Also saw that he has played less than 75% of international games so we have to apply for a special work permit or he goes on loan.

Either way, yet another prospect for the future.

Ed002 Good morning. Please is there any truth behind the Hamsik from Napoli rumour? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any Hamsik to Arsenal rumours but there has been a suggestion that AC Milan could be interested if they cannot get Ganso or sort out their non-EU quota problems quickly.}

this is what i think will happen

fabregas will stay, he will however finally come out and voice his desire in public that he wants to leave as soon as possible.

nasri will leave. man city bound 26.5mill or 12 mill + adam johnson

v persie will publically voice his disappointment about lack of signings and consider his own future

after 6 games wenger will walk away as we will already be out of the league running.

hopeully to be replaced by marco van basten, young and with a name to attract top players. his assistant come season 2012/13 will be dennis bergkamp

paul

Believable12 Unbelievable31

Haha marco and bergkamp god i love that tho remember we have a stupid board as well they would sign an idot up ..... if wenger dont sign a top defender then u cound very well be right , he talked abount us not haveing probs there the other day is the man mad or just very very arrogant , we were clowning around yesturday in defence against that asia team were becoimeing a joke lately

tony too

Wenger Would Never Leave But I Would Prefer Him As A Youth Coach (we'd have the France u23 team at arsenal)

Agree0 Disagree0

Walk away from £6 million a year. Never

Agree0 Disagree0

Hahaha...it's a rumours site not Hans Christian Andersen.

Your knowledge of the future is incredible. Can you tell me what time it will start raining in the south side of Glasgow tomorrow, so I can decide whether to hang my washing out before going to work?

Agree0 Disagree0

It will start raining at 1149

And also wenger only has 1 year remaining on his contract. its not like he's short of a few pennies is he. he wont sign a new deal cos he knows his philosophy has been a failure

Hey ed, any news on what's going to happen to Henri Lansbury? Do you think Wenger will keep him in the squad or loan him? Also if he'll be loaned out which sides would benefit his development best? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I doubt at this time any decision will have been taken.}
