Hi Eds,
With regard to director of football news going around in the news, who are being looked at and what time lines can we expect regarding an appointment, if any.
Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Arsenal looking for a Director of Football at this time nor I am aware of what the press has said. When M. Wenger departs his current role there may be a chance for him to move in to the position of Director of Football himself - it would make some sense if Arsenal were to end up with a young manager (perhaps Eddie Howe would be a good example) or a manager who would need initial guidance in stepping up to Arsenal and the Premier League (Paulo Fonseca for example) from a lower-profile league. However, if an experienced manager (let's use Max Allegri as an example) was to arrive, Arsenal may find that they would be happy with a Director of Football at the club but would find it stifling if it were M. Wenger. Either way, it does make sense for Arsenal to look for a Director of Football when planning ahead but I am not aware of any efforts at this time.}

I understand that the board have a replacement, Allegri, in mind and due to the enormous vacuum left when Wenger departs they wish to appoint a Sporting Director. Previously they tried to bring in Nicky Hammond, but Wenger clearly didn't' want such an appointment and in addition he has always avoided having any strong personalities in his staff, hence why there were never permanent positions at the club for the likes of Henry, Adams, Vieira, Bergkamp, etc. Wenger has surrounded himself with quiet 'yes' men, such as Rice, Bould, Primorac, Jonker, etc. These posed no threat to him and has aided in his longevity at the club. Imagine if Henry or Adams were at the club in a high ranking coaching position when we had a bad run, there would have been an option to Wenger. I believe that two main factors will decide Wenger's decision to stay or remain; 1) Whether we finish in the top four and 2) Wheteher there is a job for Wenger at PSG or another top club. Interesting times ahead.

Ed said top 4 wouldn't change anything. Ed do u know what could persuade wenger to stay? I realised no one has asked u that question.

{Ed002's Note - He very nearly walked away last year over an entirely separate matter and he is now at the end of his contract. He was offered a new deal and did not sign it. The club are making provisions. If he wants to stay it is up to him to talk to the club - it won't be a case of them persuading him. He would need to go and ask for a new contract.}

Would it be fair to say that he is most likely leaving ed? Because it certainly looks that way.

{Ed002's Note - I have already explained my views. They don't change on a daily basis.}
