in - Vertonghen - c/b and def mid cover £15m
- Baines - l/b £12m
- Mata/Hazard - creative mid £25m
- Martin - mid £10m
- Defoe - forward £5m

total £67m

good chance of winning league

Believable9 Unbelievable21

Try more like 25m for Baines

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry but if you think Everton would sell Baines for 12m when they wont sell Jagielka for less that 15m and you think Tottenham would sell us defoe for a fiver, I think you are being much more generous than either of those 2 clubs are going to be. The rest may be close to correct although I could see Vertonghen going for more as well. I'd say the total layout for those 5 players would be closer to 80-85m realistically that is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Except Those Players Cost More

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we even want Defoe, I'd rather keep Bendtner

Agree0 Disagree0

No Chance of the league. 4th is best

The more time elapses without us having signed a player, the more I worry...
Eman

Believable20 Unbelievable3

Don't know mate, there have been some disappointing yet sensible points about waiting to see if we qual for champs league etc....I can see why potential signings want to make sure we have before signing with us. We just have to do our thing at Udi and see what happens. It is like a crack addiction trying to unearth who'd coming in though oh my word.

Sky sports are linking us with another 16 year old, Peruvian Andy Polo

Come on Wenger.. forget the 16 year olds.. buy some more experience

Gooneremo

Believable14 Unbelievable9

I live in Peru and that kid is awsome.
He reminds me a lot of Thierry.
It would be a great signing for the future...

Peruvian Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Aw should buy cheap liverpool mid aquilani

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, Paddington here. I also hail from Peru. Deepest darkest Peru to be exact. I can confirm Andy Polo is the shizzle. Although he's not as good as his two brother's, Marco and Ralph Lauren.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was it not a peruvian called paddie bear - wenger spotted with him at a train station eating croissants and marmalade?

Agree0 Disagree0

Great name. Andy Polo. Maybe he can replace eboue as team joker. Seriously, Im gonna miss eboue.

I've been looking at this site for a while now but haven't posted before. but I've just heard big news.

I have just heard of imminent signings.. and I don't mean kids.
Wenger and the guys have been working hard behind the scenes and expect 3 new signings to be announced with 24 hours It sounds too good to be true.. but from what I've heard this is actually going to happen.

I've not been told who these players are but they will be announced on arsenal.com before anywhere else.

In wenger we trust.

I'd like to add a rumour as well. I've heard something about someone is going to happen soon.

Yeah yeah, we understand. Ball bag.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you by any chance Henry John Heinz, king of the sources?

Agree0 Disagree0

You almost had me up until the point where they would be announced on Arsenal.com before anywhere else. Arsenal.com is the last place in the world to look for news

Agree0 Disagree0

That will be the day.
I have just heard that due to the uncertainty of the pound Wenger will not sign any one .
Its going to be a difficult selection next week due to suspensions and injuries and due to the fact that the rest of our squad has to be in bed by 20:00 hrs.
The state of our club beggars belief

Believable12 Unbelievable8

Would he have been cup tied for the champions league then?

It could be a sign they are willing to sell to liverpool. or a sign incase anyone wants him they can increase his price.

To be fair Ed nothing has been released and nothing in any news stories. After a little bit of digging I eventually found something on Gooner talk and it's not official....

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed. It's speculation, so the poster is entitled to ask for any kind of confirmation. If indeed he is going on loan, then it surely means a defensive signing is inevitable.

I don't understand why all of a sudden most people seem to want Zarate to join. Yes he is a striker, and yes he is probably better than Chamakh. But his scoring record is not very good. He has averaged about 1 goal in 4 games for every club he has played at (other than Al-Sadd in the Qatari League [4 in 6]). This isn't any better than Chamakh's and he is only 5"7'. Don't we have enough small players in the squad? At least when Chamakh is playing (awfully) he can head the ball.

JH.

Believable11 Unbelievable8

I feel terrible for poor old Chamahk, when he was playing well I saw how good a player he could have become, and he infact was my favourite new signed player

The fact is he has person troubles that are ruining his attitude and his form (allegedly being blackmailed by the 3 Swedish slags he shagged whilst in Vegas) and this is the reason he is so crap at the moment.

If he can sort this out I fully expect him to become a first team regular as he looked to do before this awful stuff came out...

I'm surprised people are so quick to judge the guy - everybody makes mistakes and he went from practically nothing to an Arsenal star over night - happens to a lot of young guys who suddenly hit the big time ... They make mistakes.

Let's at least give him this season before we judge - He is still our player after all, and we don't want our players to feel intimidated by us ... I think we should FULLY support the lad, he did well for us and needs the club and fans to get behind him.

Admittedly he cannot play until this is resolved but I don't see him leaving us until at least the start of the next season, and that is IF he cannot rediscover his form and goalscoring

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said. Everyone slated him for the other day but he looked better than he has all pre-season. He needs time and faith and he'l get back to his best.

Agree0 Disagree0

People see the nice alloys on the bandwagon and it's all downhill from there, that's why. I couldn't care less if we don't sign Mata, Zarate, and a whole bunch of others. Mata was cr4p against Liverpool.

Funniest is when people are like "Ed, I've worked it out, I know who we need in the squad - Zarate" (or Jadson or whoever) as though they've had this random epiphany after hours of scouting, when's it's blatantly because they saw the name on here .

Raz

Zarate- 11 million
vertonghen-13.5 million(Traore off to QPR)
Jadson- 9.5 million
Mertersacker-6million
Mata-23million(marquee)

Believable7 Unbelievable14

If we got 3 out of those 5 I would be pleased. I think to have a squad cabpable of challenging on all fronts we might need all of them though.

No betting for Gary Cahill. Does this mean close to signing for someone and suspended betting?

Believable12 Unbelievable6

Possibly, it doesn't always mean that.
It could mean the complete opposite.
Arsenal are favourites to sign Samba and Dann, it doesn't mean that we will get them.

Agree0 Disagree0

I fear that he will end up at Liverpool, as Arsenal are classics at always leading the interest but never following it all the way thru.............

Armand Traore is apparently heading to QPR on loan. This seems strange as Gibbs is out injured. We have no LBs available now, unless a defensive signing is on the horizon...Here's hoping it's Vertonghen/Baines/Cissoko..

rumours of peter odemwingie should stop now as hes signed a new contract at west brom

thank god for that as hes not arsenal standard. I hope wenger steps up on benzema £25 mil wud be a bargin.....looked good last night and is still only 23

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Benzema is an awe inspiring player all round, if we signed him plus one more I would say we could again challenge for titles this season.

We are always so close, and last season was ruined by a lack of commitment and team spirit (as we all saw after Birmgham cup final).

Now the want aways are gone, the morale within the team will rocket - as we have already seen glimpses of with Walcott scoring early and his words to the press .... With Ramsey and Wilshere looking to do the business too.

Arsenal will improve again this season mark my words, and will bring in at least 2 more players I think.

Hopefully Benzema is one of them I am still hloding out hope on this one :)

Mauro Zarate is heading to London to meet with Arsenal, According to the Corriere dello Sport {Ed002's Note - His agent has already done so - if it is correct, then it would seem there is interest from Arsenal.}

Believable4 Unbelievable7

LOL? His agent was disappointed with the Arsenal talks? I guess he talked to Arsenal and then gave them ol' "Ok. Thanks for the offer but let me see what City is offering and we'll get back to you."

zarates agent in london to talk to arsenal {Ed002's Note - I understand talks are complete and he is looking for other clubs to talk to - Newcastle potentially being one.}

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Surely we have to be the best offer around in terms of wages and champs league and more importantly all the other BIG clubs aren't really looking for strikers, since chelsea just signed Lukaku (who we should have got) we should definitely push this through.
Is it just me or do you reckon impending signings are not being completed until we successfully go through the champs league qualifer?

ED what you think? {Ed002's Note - If Arsenal want the player there will be little of no resistance to the move, certainly they are struggling to find interested clubs. An option might be Goran Pandev who Schalke have an interest in, but he has pissed off Inter and is available.}

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2011 16:20:27
HI Ed, any truth in the Hazard stories that he may sign? Seeing alot of talk of it at the moment. You seemed spot on with the Nasri news yesterday, so hoping your sources may have said something to you.... Cheers Mate. {Ed002's Note - I have to say that there may be a chance of him moving to Arsenal, but suspect it may be quite slim. The Chelsea head scout has seemingly talked the club out of making a bid as (a) he has concerns over his attitude, and (b) he has a stated desire to play in Spain. If he is to move this summer his options seem very limited now.}

Hi ed - keep up the great work.

I'm getting very concerned now, but with less that 2 weeks of the window left, we are so much weaker than last season, despite having obvious areas where we need strenghtening.

Do you really believe that Wenger/board are working hard behind the scenes. or are we going to be tuning into sky sports news till midnight on deadline day waiting for a last minute gem?

In my opinion, we need a back up centre half (happy with kos and TV5), a creative centre midfielder and a second striker to compliment RVP.

Dan {Ed002's Note - I expect players to arrive.}

Believable6 Unbelievable3

How can you be happy with koscielny? he is garbage. we need a centre back desperately not as cover but to start along side vermalen

Is Adebayor's aim in life to become the most hated person in the red side of London? Certainly seems that way....

Anyway, Got some news that will cheer a lot of you up. News coming out of the Emirates is that deals have been tied up with Gignac and Diego but both are waiting until we qualify for the CL to dot the I's and cross the T's.

Dann and Valbuena will come in by Wednesday of next week. Wenger is also trying to sign Joel Matip of Shalke. Very Wenger type signing, can play CDM, CM, CB, LB, RB. 20 years old, cheap and very promising. Price will be around 6 million.

IN
Dann
Valbuena
Gignac
Diego
Matip

OUT
Nasri
Fabregas
Eboue

Other less important players

Am I the only one that's confused
really here?
We was told end of last season we
need a CB, still not signed one yet.
I can't figure out the plan
The only plan im seeing here is us
selling players or sending them
out on loan with no decent

Our Sqaud is smalller than last year,
less experience than last year and
now less creative than last year

Mertesacke has become Arsenal's top target according to sky sports news

Believable18 Unbelievable10

Surely not the cheaper option arsene?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he would be an excellent partner to TV... GAZ

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheaper options have been getting the job done for years (the job is 4th place)

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I prefer Kossy, but what the hell we need CBs the more the merrier

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope he is better than I think he is. The turning circle of a double decker bus

Agree0 Disagree0

I really wanted more English in our team but a 6'6 German international CB would be a massive boost, might be slow but with all the other attributes he brings to the table outweigh the lack of pace.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think he would cope with the pace of the English game the season has started wenger should have made first team signings

Agree0 Disagree0

Would add experience, height, strength in depth, not break the bank, proven international (so could be perfectly suited to English game) at worst far better than Squillaci. I would be very happy to see him come in.
rob g

Agree0 Disagree0

He isn't as good as some might think-

has dropped down the germany pecking order and hasn't really improved over the last few years as expected... they are skint and want to off load...a good price ? Yeah, but a reason for it- no better than kos and certainly not tv5.

in set pieces we would be yeah great- but open play pulling our hair out as pl attackers are all over him, too slow and unresponsive for pl- this is reality versus football manager, etc....

I believe that AW is not worried and any potential signings have been lined up. He is allowing the situation to develop (CL, Fabregas, Nasri, etc) before making the ultimate decision and getting out his cheque book. His plans will become clear in the next 2 weeks.
In the meantime we will continue to be linked to every world class player going. Can't wait to see who we sign - who do you think is most likely?

I'm also really excited to see Alex, Joel & Ryo play.

Crawf

Believable9 Unbelievable8

Fabregas left on Monday... And Nasri iwll leave today or tommorow, so the time is now

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex Is Gonna Be So Good Nothing Like Walcott

Agree0 Disagree0

He should done that weeks ago before the season and competative matches started.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im excited to see them play and grow and develope into quality but I can't but help thinking the worst about transfers coming in. I really hope your right.

Agree0 Disagree0

COBBLERS-GOONER..... The time is now, not tomorrow or next week. Transfers and contract negotiations take time, and with 13 days left in the window..... AW needs to act NOW

Agree0 Disagree0

Joel looks mighty cant wait either

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is by the time everything is sorted we will be out of the Champs League and already struggling in the prem. Ferguson has not won all those leagues fa cups and champ leagues by waiting to see what happens he goes out and makes it happen. We should have had everyone out and everyone in before the far east tour. I think Wenger is a genius but this time he has blown it. PLease feel free to prove me wrong Mr Wenger.

Believable16 Unbelievable9

Since both are pretty much just dreaming why not dream big and sign Messi

Who cares - as long as we get one

Arsenal Ads

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard by a mile personally, i think Mata could be another Reyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id go for mata...although hazard is 3 years younger. But then in 3 years in his prime he may want to go to barcelona...

atleast we get mata in his prime?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would rather have Mata. Although I would love either to move to us.

Crawf

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard, simply due to him being stronger on the ball and having the ability to become one of the world's best. that being said mata apparently has a far better attitude and work ethic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Both we NEED the midfielders when i watched the game on tuesday thy tried to play arsenal's style of football but didn't have the talent on the park to play like that. IT WAS HARD TO WATCH

Agree0 Disagree0

Too many Hazards in the team already but no Mata. Juan's ok but his brother Wozza is better

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard by milles

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard hands down. TV5 will help him adjust aswell and we got rid of any Spanish speakers this year and I think settling a player early is really important but that's just me I guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

Miguel and all the other barca kids still speak spanish

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey I never knew I was the brother of Juan...... ;-)

Wozza

p.s. Mata is a better team player but Hazard is much more dangerous....difficult to decide who would be more effective. I think the Mata deal is dead and Ryo Miyaichi is a very similar player to Hazard so I'm not sure if Wenger will want the two. On a personal note I LOVE the thought of Hazard and Ryodinho both playing on the left and right of our attack. if Hazard was to come, don't expect a deal to be announced until after the 2nd leg Udinese game IF Arsenal qualify. Hazard is already garanteed Champions League football at Lille this season so if Arsenal don't qualify he definitely won't come. seems Lille are open to selling him as well.

Id like both. But ill be amazed to see either.

For Gods sake Wenger,Tottenham are lining up Diarra from Madrid and a loan on Adebayor from City and all we seem to be doing is selling our best players, get rid of Nasri and buy some quality to replace them.Wenger has done a hell of a lot for the Arsenal, but anyone can see that if we don't get players in now,we're in for a bad season.

Believable14 Unbelievable6

You forgetting we signed, Gervinho, Oxdale Chamberlaine and Jenkinson and we will bring in more.... And theres Harry bringing two former Arsenal players to Spuds, Suprise, Suprise

Agree0 Disagree0

Harryb hasnt signed anyone besides freidel this summer, are we really jealous of that?

We need Baines. FACT. Gibbs is injury prone and Traore is inexperienced. Who remembers last seasons FA Cup game between Everton and Chelsea? Baines was brilliant. Sign him now

Believable18 Unbelievable7

I agree but another option is putting vermealen LB and getting cahill maybe getting another cb like mertesacker, samba, dann [although i'm not sure any are good enough] or starting koscielny [can't beleive i'm saying this might not be that bad].

Agree0 Disagree0

COBBLERS-GOONER...... I cant believe you said starting Kos either. Baines would be a great signing in my books, and we still could do with a Cahill or Mertesacker(spelling sorry)...... TV5 can cover LB, but he is too valuable in CD, and Kos... well, i just cannot say anything

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love to see Baines at Arsenal , but I can't see Everton selling, They Demanded 18m for Jagielka so they would want at least 20 m for Baines and Wenger aint gunna spend that amount on a LB when he would hault the progress of Gibbs

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah don't see LB coming in. Other matters may be more pressing and agree Wenger will want to keep Gibbs as first choice. But Baines could make a huge impact on the team.

At the moment it looks like the players trust Sagna down the right but don't feel comfortable passing out to the left and keeping possession high up the pitch on that side. Baines would make us a real threat on both sides.

When will people understand that we simply cant afford tyo pay the wages of people that they are naming. With our wage ceiling (something i totally agree with) people like Eto simply wont come. I would bet huge amounts that Wenger and Gazidas are talking to numerous players/clubs - but once someone says "i'll come for 200k a week" its finished. Sure we could afford pretty much anyones fee - but the wages would be horrendous.
Without the pimping of a sugar daddy willing to lose/waste mililons every year, no club can sustain a challenge at the very top without amazing management and support - something we have had for years. People need to realise that.

Lets look at some of the quoted players -
Cahill - 16m and 90k a week - is he really worth that? What does that do to every player currently at the club, seeing a non-international 24year old on those wages - If i were Keiran Gibbs i'd expect the same when i get a new contract. Likewise Ramsay/Wilshire etc etc. Players have to deserve there wages, not just have wads thrown at them because fans are not patient or realistic enough.

Appreciate what we have Gooners- theres no god given right to be successful at any stage.

Believable20 Unbelievable7

The problem with our wage structure isn't that we can't afford to pay top earners, its's that we pay youngsters and squad players entirely too much. This prevents us from even coming close to competing for wages for top players and is making it difficult to sell players like Bendtner, Almunia, Denilson, etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why assume that Cahill would want 90k? He is probably on a third of that at Bolton. We already pay our squad players (Diaby et al) about 50-60k.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hallelujah - a voice of sanity in a sea of stupidity. Get behind the team people.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who said Cahill wants 90k a week?

Agree0 Disagree0

Re Cahill and 90k a week - purely my estimation. Much based oin 1 year left on contract/rumoured Man city and Chelsea interest/ seems going rate for any half decent player English these days.

I agree we pay squad and youngsters too much - but that in itself means we cant hope to attract them from the likes of City/United/Chelsea unless we are paying top whack. Horrible balancing act - look at Denilson - 3/4 years ago we all thought he'd be a huge player - hence happy he signs long contract on decent wages - 3 years on hes not progressed.....other side is a Fabregas - great potential - signs 8 year contract on very good money and workls out fantastically. We cant compete at the top so have to either gamble of the youngsters or accept second/third pickings. I see us doing a mix of those right now

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully Wenger had all this planned, and Walcott RVP TV Kossy Gibbs Sagna Wilshere Ramsey and Szsznsny are going to be the core of a new team - as these players ARE more than capable of winning THIS season, some sort of trophy;

They have the attitude and the loyalty I want to see in Arsenal players - so I am not bothered at all about the loss of Cesc or even Nasri if these players want away.

ARSENAL are a bigger club than they have ever been credited for ... We don't need a huge injection of money it would just be a waste unless we can match City / Chelsea pound for pound. Which we can't so the way we are doing it IS the best way forward.

Come on people stop fanning and staert supporting Arsenal is the best club in the world :) UP THE ARSENAL Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

We have sold / loan / will sell
Fabregas £110K, Nasri £50K, Eboue £40K, Denilson £40K, Clichy £50K, Bendtner £50K, Almunia £40K, Vela £40K
That is £420K a week in wages we have to play with and around £70M transfer income, we can buy 3 £20M players and pay them £120K each and we will be better off than we were

Is no one else worried? We have Liverpool at the weekend and we have yet to bring anyone else in plus we have injuries Why cant Wenger see?

Believable18 Unbelievable5

Expext a declaration that we have a squad capable and mature enough to win the league, if we beat Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger & the BOD have made a total pigs ear of this summer. Everyone in football knew Fab & Nasri would be leaving. Every team will now be hiking their valuations up because we are now desperate & have left it far too late. I respect Wenger for his achievements, but sadly he now lives in a bubble.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you, with Liverpool on Saturday, CL on Wednesday then Manchester next weekend, I don't think the squad is no way good enough at the moment to win the 3 games...GAZ

Can't see anyone in before the weekend.
holding my breath that we get through the

Agree0 Disagree0

I have been worried all summer at the lack of urgency shown by Arsene and the board. There is every chance that the league will be beyond us by next weekend and we will be out of the Champions League too. We constantly dither with negotiations and in the end our targets go elsewhere. It is a pathetic situation and Arsene Wenger is bringing the club to it's knees. Sad to say it, but there are going to be plenty of empty seats at the Emirates this season. still, on the bright side, Thursday night Channel 5 will be good

Agree0 Disagree0

Imo we won't sign any new players till after Wednesday when we will find out if were in or out the cl.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is talk about our interest in per mertesacker. Around 5 - 9 mill for him.

I can't believe Chelsea ate chasing Mata after Valencia said he wasn't for sale.
Why aren't we making an offer then......

Agree0 Disagree0

Worried and absolutely furious at the totally inept actions of Wenger and Gazidas. Can't believe anybody can possibly defend them now

Agree0 Disagree0

Your gunner lose against liverpool anyway then man united, all of a sudden things look bleak and your in the relegation zone. Then what?

Agree0 Disagree0

Inept is being kind Fans pay a lot of money to watch Arsenal and this weekend what will we get in exchange - a team of youngsters "with great potential" - same old story - time to go Arsene - please

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO any new signings will depend on if we get the champions league. I'd say there are players lined up but they themselves are waiting on our CL situation. Anyway how well could a new signing do in 1 day of training to be ready to play liverpool, regardless what other league they came from.
I understand ur concern but keep the faith and support your team.

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Time to go Arsene? Because why? Because you've kept us competitive for 10 years whilst building an infrastructure to keep us competitive in the future?

I'm sure Wenger will do everything he can to bring Hazard in, but might not happen as Lille are reluctant to sell him. We'll see.
Cahill is an option, but I prefer Jags, and think he's more likely. For me, the best option mentioned so far is Vertonghen, and his name hasn't been mentioned for a while so that could mean smth (you know, Wenger...). I'm from Serbia and know Neven Subotić is being mentioned also, (I would LOVE to see him in the Arsenal shirt) but personally i don't think he's ready for PL yet. He has great potential, but i don't think he would player better than Kos right now.
I really thought Fabs and Nas could stay, but obviously I was wrong, so let's hope Arsene will bring someone in to fill CM/AM position. (Hazard plays on the wing...)
To sum up: Wengers knows a thing or two about football, so let's hope he'll do a good job now. In fact, I'm sure he will

Greetings to you all from a gooner from Serbia

Believable19 Unbelievable4

COBBLERS-GOONER.... Greetings to you, Hows Serbia doing..... Hazzard i think is a def no go, as we have bid and had accepted a £20M bid for Mata accepted by Valencia, the Chelsea thing is all talk from the papers. Cahill is far better than Jags, and Mertesaker's name is being spread all over the place, but Subotic would be a great signing IMO, young, strong and classy, he would do well alongside TV5 (better than Kos).......

Not a rumour just my humble opinion

When i look our squad (minus the already out the door Nasri) i see a squad no stronger than Bolton or Everton, that level of squad wont be challenging for the league and will will only be putting silverware on the shelve with an early knockout of the champ league and a good run in the FA or League cup

We MUST do a City and overhaul and re-invest in the sqaud, not with kids with great futures but with proven, exprienced, leading and driven players who are hungry to push an ailing team back up tp the highest levels

Here are my wishes and suggested targets
Cahill PL proven and developing into future england regular
Hazard exciting talent with couple of first team seasons of league football under his belt
Mata already a national level cup winner and ready to take the challenge of the PL
Parker not as young as AW would like but in form of his life in a influential position that we need influence in

AW must rebuild a team with instant impact just to maintain our 3/4th position level

Believable15 Unbelievable13

If we do a 'City', we'll be doing a 'Leeds' three years later.

You shouldn't spend money you haven't got.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not got? Both our major shareholders are billionaires - one of them has repeatedly offered to put money in and been refused by the board. Also spending money that is available and been earmarked for transfers (instead of hoarding it scrooge fashion) is not "doing a leeds"

Agree0 Disagree0

The major difference with us and leeds would actually be the thing thats holding some signings and movements back, Wenger and the Boardroom staff would make sure the profit margins were still good, our laready healthy finances and profit protection methods would never allow us to drop out the PL, I truely beleievce, a 65m overhaul with a cache of driven players and a leader will grab our team by the balls and drag us back up to title challenging, at the current status quo we stand a better chance of slipping down the pile and if this gaping wound of a status is not plugged and remidied we may be looking at relegation fights in two or three yeras

Agree0 Disagree0

No stronger than everton or bolton? look at RVP, Wilshere, Vermaelen, Sagna etc, we still have the backbone of a top team. and our worst players are, at worst, mediocre - everton and bolton both have plenty of players like chamakh and squillaci. i agree that we need a few more signings but the depth of cynicism of some people borders on stupidity.

i too am a frustrated arsenal fan, but lets actually think critically about what we need rather than make these crass statements. we still have top players and are 2/3 away from a team that can go into this campaign confidently. maybe with 1/2 reinforcements in jan if needed.

a complete overhaul would sacrifice team shape and give out a signal that we are in chaos. we are not like city - we have tradition and style so we do not need to buy a new team every few years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right we do need a overhaul to bring players and refresh the squad ,BUT NOT DO A CITY, i hate city i mean why would you support them other than being a glory hunter or a local, Look at the attitude of the club, sign players with talent that never play Like Milner, Wright phillips, santa cruz, lescott and others not signed like Richards and onhua. Some of these players 3 or 4 years ago were big names with a massive potential, wrecked By Manchester city, the greedy must have it all team that leave out players after one bad game.
At Arsenal we develop players into some of the biggest names in football ,example, Theirry Henry, Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Jack wilshere the list is endless, a team that develops young talent to be world beaters and yes we do go over the Top with the young Players and it is time to get the wallet out and buy some proven players, but not paying over the top like City and Chelsea do for someone who might not start every week [Torres].
Arsenal is a special club maybe the tickets are over priced for a football match but I'd rather pay to watch exiting Arsenal that never Fails to show home grown talent and polished Gold unearthed from Smaller clubs than watch City and Chelsea that rely on money and other clubs to source talent. In my opinion that makes Arsenal one of the greatest clubs in the World, Maybe not on performance alone but the unique attitude, patience and professionalism that keeps in contention for the league and champions league every year and Never to have been relagated and for the money we invest in players to stay up there just shows how awsome we are. What do you think ED

West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie has alerted Arsenal and Tottenham of his availability by declaring he would only quit the Baggies for a "top club".

Get him now

How has that alerted Tottenham then??

Agree0 Disagree0

He is crap why the hell are we even linked with this sort of player...

Agree0 Disagree0

SHut up he isn't crap, he is quality. Imagine him with th serivce he'd get at Arsenal. Odemwingie has almost single handedly dragged West Brom through their last 2 seasons. He got 15 goals in 32 games - you could expect that to increase with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

They've only had him for one season

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha. he is 30 and had one good season We are Arsenal, should be aiming alot higher then him Henry, Bergkamp, Wright. oh and Odemwingie. I don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

NOt star quality not even top prem quality and he is 30 making him too old with no sell on value for what they want for him. We have better players in the reserves.

Lol yeah that was a typo, I meant one season ha

Agree0 Disagree0

WTF
why are people rating this guy who plays for WBA and is 30 years old Especailly when we are shouting at Arsene to spend some f***ing money. Arsene in turn has said he only wants 'super quality' Don't see this player pleasing the fans or meeting the quality we are demanding the club sign.

I would quite happily trade the exact money made from Fabregas to sign Hazard,

I would also quite happily trade the exact money made from Nasri to sign Goetze,

I would also quite happily trade the exact money made from Clichy + Eboue and about another 16mil from our pot to sign Gary Cahill.

I would then be very happy with life, we would have replaced 2 world class players, got the right players in the other holes of our team and we could evaluate the team again in January to see if we needed a new LB, DM or ST. I dont think we need a DM or ST. Im happy with the amount of forwards we have and I think Song is good and DM is never the position that is attacked the most by other teams. Gibbs + Traore are bad tho, but will do for now as Verm can go there.

This is realistic, and would only lose 16mil out of a pot of money that is already a profit, so technically it isnt a loss at all.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

I agree 100% to what your saying. Kudos

I just can't make sense on what aw is thinking. Hoarding money from transfers isn't going to make you richer or better the team. I'm still hoping it all just happens before the windows close and before done other epl team buys the quality we need

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless Nasri goes for about 100m, i can't see this one happening

Agree0 Disagree0

Crazy...in your world vermaelan can be a left back and hazard is worth fabregas money?

Agree0 Disagree0

Carl jenkinson can play lb. He will grow in confidence.

Agree0 Disagree0

The OP is not saying that hazard is as good as fabregas or worth the same money, he just said that he'd be happy to spend that money on him. It's just a sign of how desperate we are to see some quality signings

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't really agree with what you're saying, some of your prices are little high and the selling clubs I'm sure what be happy to do business with you lol the players yes- the price no

for e.g. so clichy 7m, eboue 4m + 16mil= so you would pay 27mil for cahill..?

can't argue with choose of players but thank god you don't run our club we'd be bankrupt after 2 seasons lol I think city are a better option for the money you would like to spend

Agree0 Disagree0

So you would give 27m for Cahill, a player with one year left on contract?? Even if he had 10 years and he aint worth that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im glad your not our manager. So you would pay bolton 27.5m for gary cahill? Are you nuts? lol We got 11.5m for eboue + clichy. Wouldn't pay anymore than 14m for cahill. If we are gonna spend big on a cb give dortmund 20m for hummels

Agree0 Disagree0

100%. or something there abouts. i would over the moon if this happended. at the start of the summer i wanted a complete mix up of the team, but losing our best players without replacing them is worrying. Gervinho and AOC were great signings, chuffed with those. A few more is needed though to replace the major players we lost and it could be a very exciting season

STICK TOGETHER GOOONS

Agree0 Disagree0

To the guy above. Tommy V use to play left back sometimes when he was captain of Ajax, and was extremely good there too, everyone can remember the great goals he has scored for us when he pushes foward.

Also we sold cesc at crazy cheap price because of the circumstances, to any other team he would of cost £50-55m easily. With the season already started, i think he will have to pay extra to get a player of that standard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard is worth what Fabregas went for. The problem is Fabregas wasnt worth what he went for. Fabregas should have gone for 50 mil but we gave him away thats the problem. That doesnt mean hazard not worth the 25 mil

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we pay 27 mil for cahill when bolton want 17??
BD

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the idea of this, but I see only hazard and a cb (would still please me). Also are you saying £26m for Cahill? Madness

Sorry, two weeks left and you think you'd even make half of those?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would rather..
Cahill
Mertersaker
Hamsik/Gourcuff
Hazard
Benzema

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more - and all summer I have been wanting Chamakh to make the second half of last season be a "blip", but his touch against Udinese was appalling. OK, it's one game, but he really doesn't look likely. I'd settle for Cahill and Vertonghen, though realistically we could but only hope for one of those (Vertonghen, PLEASE), I've never even seen MMM play but he seems to be a popular choice on here, Hazard would be tops - why no Arsharvin on Tuesday, is he off to the new unpronouncable club in Ruski - and Higuain seems at least more likely than the much touted Benzema. I'd still prefer Benzema on two counts - (a) I think he's "better" (Higuain is hardly "poor") and two he's French so asdie from PSG, there's no-one to lure him back "home" a la Cesc). I'd still say two defenders, but make my wish-list: Vertonghen, Baines, Martin, Hazard, Higuain. Guesstimated costs: £16m, £16m, £12m, £24m and £25m, totalling £97m (I'm being generous, but have you seen the rate of inflation?) against money in of £35m Cesc, £22m Cheeses of Nasri, £7m Clichy, £3m Eboue, £8m(?) Bendtner, £10m Arsharvin, which would give a net spend including Gervinho, Jenkisnon and Oxbow-Lake of £38m. It's a lot - and of course stertches credulity - but £38m at todays prices to bring in a total of eight players is a pretty good spend. Anybody else excited about Frimpong? He may not yet be the real deal, but he doesn't look lightweight, can put himself about and I don't have concerns about him stepping in for Song for the next three games -as long as he can stay on the pitch looks a bit frisky and impetuous, but I think a midfield of Frimpong, Ramsey and Wilshire with Hazard left, Gervinho or Walcott right and RVP or Higuain up front is a bit special. Needs some years perhaps, but it has yoof and pace. Still we'd have Oxbow-Lake and Miyaichi. Back four of Sagna, TV, Vertonghen and Baines, backed by Jenkinson and Kos, Gibbs and (if we have to) Djourou. Kepper, no-brainer. KEEP THE FAITH IN ARSENE, especially if by some miracle he does all the above Max Farnham.

Guys i think higuain is better than benzema

Agree0 Disagree0

But your right bentner and chamkh are s**t Benzema would be more realistic and campbell might be good enough anyway

Wenger should buy Eden Hazard and Mario Gotze to bolster our attack. Both young and tipped to be one of the best in there position when there older.
Also a Centre back and maybe even a left back (being how injury prone Gibbs is) are needed.

Believable15 Unbelievable1

These are 2 players Arsenal need, young and soon to be world class. Would fit in well in Arsenal's young squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sure, how many more players are going to leave then

Goetze is the new Messi (quote Beckenbauer) and is worth at LEAST 50m to Dortmund, whereas Hazard is about 25-30m
80m on 2 players isn't good business in my eyes

Agree0 Disagree0

We only really need a cb because vermaelen can play lb

Agree0 Disagree0

There not going to come sorry to burst ur bubble

Agree0 Disagree0

Why should Goetze leave Dortmund ?

Mirrorfootball reporting that chelski have made a £20m bid for Mata. Also reporting AW will wait til the end of the transfer window before going for Cahill. AW trying to reduce cost. Nasri also had medical at Citeh and that Spurs are interested in Adebayor.

Aussie Gooner

Believable9 Unbelievable6

Won't reduce the cost, will result in deal not being done at all, as they would not have time to replace him. If we wanted him we should have done the deal weeks ago

Cesc on the bench in the Super Copa . BENCH>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Believable12 Unbelievable2

Yeah, then he came on and ran the show with Messi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Then at the end Marcelo gave him the real introduction to El Clasico lol

Madrid look alot closer to Barca this season Hopefully Real will offload Higuain and Kaka to us on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course he didn't walk into the starting line-up 2 days after signing. That's a pretty rare thing... reserved for smaller clubs. The bigger clubs always wait a while to let the players get used to one another first.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabregas finally won a trophy. hes happy now

Agree0 Disagree0

And he supplied pass to Messi for the winner. One medal in ten minutes vs none in six years. And he supplied the pass for the winner to MESSI, not Bendtner/Vela/Chamakh (all of whom would have missed anyway, so it wouldn't have been the winner).

Agree0 Disagree0

So what, he is a barca player now, not our business- get over it

Agree0 Disagree0

And he still managed to win a throphy within 3 days

Agree0 Disagree0

Trophy with 15 min on field, doubt he cares it was as a sub

Agree0 Disagree0

Well i knew he wouldnt start, i dont know why and how busquets gets in ahead of him its crazy thats why he should of stayed, but i understand why he did it and wish him the best for the future. [unlike nasri to hell with him if he goes to city he didnt deserve to play for Arsenal]
Shws he just a money grabbing no good like all the rest of the city players, what a waste of talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

And in a few months he will have a la liga and champs lge medal

I know everybody is desperate for a cb but I feel we need a cm and a cf as badly as we need a cb
Take away wilshere and ramsey - who do we have for cm? (Song and frimpong are dm, rosicky isn't good enough in there and nor is diaby, nasri is pretty much gone)
Take away rvp - who do we have for cf (we've seen chamakh isn't good enough, bendnter is going, and vela has gone)

This might b stating the obvious, but our struggle to win some games were because we weren't finishing teams off when on top as much as it was defensive mistakes.

If I was wenger who would I sign?
Cb - cahill
Cm - esteban grenero or take a chance on diego from wolfsburg,
This is where people go mad but I'd take someone like defoe as my top choice, a clinical finisher in and around the 18 yeard box ...

Completely agree with you mate As frustrating as it is with the lack of transfers, I honestly think Wenger will pull of at least 4 between now and the end of the window Cahill is a MUST. Defo agree on new CM's because we're really lacking some at the moment and if injurys continue then we're f*****.

I agree that Defoe would be a great signing man, he's ageing but his experience and technique would be great to have upfront. He can't be happy playing at spuds and I think he'd love to have the chance to play along with RVP upfront... spuds needing to sell in order to spend may help this cause aswell.... however would they really sell to us?

No matter what happens, I PRAY that wenger will atleast sign some players. I dont want to jinx anything but what a dissapointment and real lack of intent if he doesn't. Expecially with the board selling 2 of our best players (If nasri does go - I hope he stays but looks like he's gone) and increasing the ticket prices

PLAYERS IN NOW WENGER.

I'm not as down on Rosicky as everyone else seems to be. If he stays healthy, he'll be great.
