many people are getting wengers head ready for the guillotine, for stating he doesnt want to buy in january. that does not mean he wont take a player on loan to the end of the season. there are some big names wanting to re-establish their reputations ready to be loaned out to clubs - so watch this space and expect the unexpected.

Believable4 Unbelievable19

Question is will wenger be afforded the chance to turn this around. losing 25 odd million on CL tv money, very good chance on losing rvp/theo and having to move on at least 10 players.
can't see it myself.

DG

Agree0 Disagree0

Really? like who? besides Gourcuff.
ibster

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to bring in players. end of, every one can see we need a full back and a decent striker. Arsen needs to wise up and get real or we wont even get a europa league spot next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on, the loan is Ally Cissokho & the deal should be concluded swiftly. He will sign on loan with a view to a permanent summer signing. Its easy to say that Wenger should purchase players in this window, but are top quality players available at sane prices? I am certain you can sign Hazard at 40 million euros, plus high wages, but is that the way to go. Possibly only if you are City or Chelsea, where finances are of little consequence. Cahill is a prime example of a quite ordinary PL defender that had months left on his contract, who was reportedly sold for 7m, plus a 4m signing on fee, plus 100k per week for 5 years. That totals some 36 million! We also need to permanently unload at least 10 players from our squad: Almunia, Mannone, Mannone, Squilacci, Denilson, Rosicky, Benayoun, Chamakh, Bendtner, Lansbury, Arshavin, Vela & Park are all possible departures. With top players returning from injury & international duty, hopefully we will have enough to finish in the top 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not just january its every window
football is not as it use to be
its time for a change

Agree0 Disagree0

Well it is expected of any manager to make additions to the squad in the situation ours is in and with the funds we DO have. So the unexpected is if we don't buy anyone.

I know which one I am expecting - the unexpected.

I have heard a rumour that we are keeping an eye on newcastle keeper frazer forster who is on loan at celtic. I think i heard harry rednap and paul lambert also interested big guy and been very good this year against athletico and udenese. Might not be a bad shout

Believable4 Unbelievable23

Having watched him frequently in the SPL, I can confirm he would be a horrendous shout for Arsenal. Poor positioning and decision making. But hey, sounds like a typical GK signing now i think of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is worse than sh1te. Another BS rumour....

G95

Agree0 Disagree0

He is awful, cant kick from round, undecisive and poor handling. Even flappyanski is better than him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would rather go for allan mcgregor if any keeper is being bought

Source from Tweet, Renato:

The brother of my mate is a best friend of Luke Shaw and Shaw told him he's set to join Arsenal.

Not sure how true, looks good, but do we need another hot prospect for the future?

Motion14

Believable8 Unbelievable25

Are you shaw?

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget about the future think about present and current situation

Agree0 Disagree0

There's a lot of chat on twitter about him today and yday I think. I have to admit I find it very unlikely simply because we need additions elsewhere and Southampton will surely do everything they can to hold into him for a few years to sell him at AOC-type prices.

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Ooooh Luke Shaw , how exciting
(Who?)

Agree0 Disagree0

Should be a good buy

Agree0 Disagree0

Yup great just what we need right now!

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubtful considering Southampton wil l most likely be in the epl next season!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be a great signing but not this January he's the next Ashley cole but not as big an person as cole is
Gunner14

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because we are stressed out doesn't mean we should forget about trying to secure the players of the future. And Luke Young IS a player for the future. WILL be a world class player. SIGN HIM NOW!

CrossRoss

Ps. Luke who guy! Get out more!

Agree0 Disagree0

^^^^^^^^^

Not sure what you mean by Luke who guy?? and get out more?

You seemed to have mis-read my post, I am talkng about Southampton's highly rated 16 year old Luke Shaw.

You seemed to have mentioned Luke Young in your reply, I can only assume you are referring to Luke Young the 19 year old from Plymouth Argyle, as the Luke Young from QPR is hardly a hot prospect for the future at 31 years old.

Either way, you have clearly read this post in error, so perhaps it is you who needs to get out more!

I think we are finally starting to see some movement!
Suillacci out, possibly Arshavin to follow (Rosick won't be leaving)
Chamakh will also be staying, Park will be given more chances once Henry has returned to the Red Bulls.

We will also sign young French striker M'Baye Niang from French Ligue 1 side Caen.

Talk about a typical Wenger signing, young, French and looks very promising.
No official bid yet as far as I understand but a deal could be on the cards by the end of Jan.

Wenger has finally realised the need for defensive reinforcements and has made a formal bid for Sime Vrsaljko. (not sure exactly but in the region 4mil though this may rise)
He is a young Croation who plays right sided defense but who is also proven on the left.

Although we have players to come back Vrsaljko wouldn't expect an instant forst team place but may do so in the future with Gibbs pushed further up.

Who is your source

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop reading last years articles. 27th Jan 2011. Not Jan 2012.

Agree0 Disagree0

So Vrsaljko has suddenly lost his talent in the past year?

Agree0 Disagree0

Vrasljko is one of the most promising right backs in europe, and one of the maybe the most promising croatian player in general. Im not sure that he will be content without a first team spot especially if being on the bench means he sits behind Santos and Gibbs both of whom are hardly the best in the world as he is also a prize asset of Croatia first team football is vital for his international career. I would be more than happy for him to take the left back position permanently maybe even right back, think hes a great player, has everything our full backs seem to lack he can get past players, put in a cross even have some attempts on goal you would expect from an attacking mid! saying that he also seems like a player that can easily play in midfield if required.

Agree0 Disagree0

No-one said he lost his talent?

Point was

"Wenger has finally realised the need for defensive reinforcements and has made a formal bid for Sime Vrsaljko. "

Is from last yr. We're still interested yes, but the articles online are from 2011. Except some Yahoo article which states we've been scouting but he's a City target.

Greece goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino is believed to be a transfer target for Arsenal, as Arsene Wenger seeks new competition for his Polish custodian Wojciech Szczesny.
Current backup options Manuel Almunia and Vito Mannone have proved particularly error prone, while Lukasz Fabianski has only impressed in fits and starts.
Kapino is just 17, but the 65 keeper has already been capped for Greece, and a hugely bright future is anticipated of the teenager.

Hello Ed i was wondering if you know or heard of any reason why Vertonghen has not moved ,not just to us but anywhere cheers Hetybridge Gooner {Ed002's Note - Simple. He is not available for a move now - he does not want to move and the club do not want to sell. Perhaps in the summer.}

It's about life not in the champions league next year

Agree0 Disagree0

PHW basically said that AFC have always prepared for "No CL Football" and as much as they'd like it, it's 'no big deal' if we didn't qualify.

It's a rehashed version of what Ivan Gazidis said back in October.

=M.A.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its sensible financial planning. The club has to be prepared for the team not performing.

Would look pretty foolish if we went bankrupt for finishing 5th {Ed002's Note - Right. Clubs do there forward financial planning for a number of years each time. What he is saying is that they do not rely of the money from the champions league being paid every season. As such they will include it for, say, three seasons out of five for when they are planning the year on year costs for the club. So when showing income planing it could be something like this example:
Year 1 Income (M) from
Sponsorship 25
Gate 75
Merchandising 15
CL Competition 35

Year 2 Income (M) from
Sponsorship 28
Gate 80
Merchandising 15
CL Competition 35

Year 3 Income (M) from
Sponsorship 30
Gate 80
Merchandising 18
CL Competition 0

Year 4 Income (M) from
Sponsorship 35
Gate 85
Merchandising 20
CL Competition 35

Year 5 Income (M) from
Sponsorship 35
Gate 90
Merchandising 20
CL Competition 0
Etc..

Wenger not worried about nissing out on the Euros

www1.skysports.com/football/news/11670/7439912/Arsenal-don-t-fear-Euro-miss

Agree0 Disagree0

Your calculations are wrong, for the simple reason that sponsorship goes down when you're not in the CL.

Agree0 Disagree0

And Merchandising goes down

Just what does the term:'typical Wenger signing' mean?
is it likes of fabregas, anelka, henry, pires, vieira, van persie, vermaelen?
or is it likes of arshavin, djourou, mertesacker, chamakh, park?
Wenger doesn't seem to know what he's doing anymore!

Believable24 Unbelievable9

I was thinking the same thing. These days it means a cheap signing from a lower league who turns out to be a flop

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally dont blame wenger. I think the fact dein has been replaced with Gazidis is the problem

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the post about gazidis we all know how good a negotiater david dein was. how do we know that gazidis hasnt had a list of targets and just failed. otherwise why would we have put the big bids on deadline day if wenger isnt willing. on the other hand i think wenger needs to develop a plan b,c,d and so on because against swansea we didnt seem to have a plan b.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why blame IG? He doesn't scout the players.

Wenger is responsible for saying what players he wants and the price he wants to pay.

Agree0 Disagree0

You look at the players wenger wanted but the club didnt fork out enough money...

shwarzer (spelling) an extra million, would of got us an extra 6-10 points in a season where almunia cost us loads.

wenger wanted jagielka, board wouldnt pay, we ended up with squalacci (spelling) again costs us atleast 10 points last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

..also it is a different world out there with a record number of clubs having rich suga' daddies, which drives up the price of all the prospects. Dont know what Dien would do with the limited budget and wage structure, but certainly better than Gazi.

Ash

Agree0 Disagree0

When Wenger first came to Arsenal,he and David Dein had a great plan,Wenger would make a list of the players that he wanted and David Dein would go out and sign them up,because no matter what anyone says, the guy had a gift for bringing in the best, and Wenger knew how to make them winners. But since DD was shown the door,we haven't been able to attract the same quality of player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody moaned when we signed Arshavin, we all wanted him, not Wengers fault the man is bone idol!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fickle people so the guy who signed most of your Favorite players is suddenly clueless? get a grip.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont forget Franny Jeffers :)

Agree0 Disagree0

The top list of players were down to dein being negotiator and putting club first now we have people who just want to line there pockets bring dein back and watch arsenal win cups again

samba and alex immanent signings

Believable4 Unbelievable33

For qpr....

Agree0 Disagree0

Of all the signings we need, we're bringing in another 2 CBs? I doubt this v much.
Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say I disagree... Wenger won't be signing any centre backs however well priced they are like these two.

Beargunner.

Agree0 Disagree0

.....for Spurs and QPR. I thought this was Arsenal rumours?

Agree0 Disagree0

There are no 'immanent" signings

Yeah....for Q.P.R

ANDERLECHT'S Argentine striker Matias Suarez has snubbed a move to Arsenal.
The 23-year-old said: "Arsenal contacted my agent but I will finish the season with Anderlecht."

Al

Believable14 Unbelievable7

This was on hear last week

Agree0 Disagree0

That Just says he has snubbed a move in January. Not the move altogether. Probably see him in July in a number 13 shirt, or if Wenger does some juggling with his shirt numbers, Number 7 goes to wilshere, 19 to suarez? That's if rosicky doesn't sign on for another year.

Samba and either Pedersen/Santa-Cruz joining Hughes at QPR...Not Arsenal

Wenger is staying at Arsenal, unquestionably.

Van Persie, Walcott, Diaby, Rosicky, Podolski, Abidal, Wayne Bridge, Demba Ba and Scott Dan all to stay at their respective clubs.

Hazard to go to Chelsea to team up with Mata, both players Arsenal have missed out on because of their wages and fees.

Defoe most likely will stay too, or go to Liverpool.

Mario Goetze to Arsenal, along with an unknown utility fullback. Henry not staying for Spurs game will go back to US.

Drogba to Makalaka, Hulk either stays at Porto or goes to another Portuguese club.

Man City to win title, United runner-up Chelsea and Spurs equal on points for equal 3rd and 4th Arsenal lagging in 5th.

All in all, pretty cack this season but hopefully new signings from last season will further improve, supplemented by a couple of new signings this time around for next season.

This season is a bit of a write off, but next season will be saved by 2 new faces as above.

I just know it :)

Believable8 Unbelievable21

Hulk to another portuguese club? i'd guess that if the top half of the portuguese league pooled their whole transfger budgets, they still wouldnt be able to fund the transfer.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate, Only half the season Gone. If we get a result from United. I know we will finish in the top 4, if not in the top 3. 100% we will be spurs, chelsea, liverpool heck maybe even City. Have faith, Wenger has got top 4 even when our form was called under investigation (2006)

Top Goon

Agree0 Disagree0

Haven't the last 6 seasons been write offs....?

Agree0 Disagree0

In other words OP. All this is an accumulation of guesses.

Hulk to another portugues club the minute i read that i knew this was bull

And who are you,did you sit in front of a magic ball writing dis?
