A lot of talk about rvp and if he will sign a new contract I say let him leave if he's no longer committed. He's had 1 good season out of a lot of injured seasons before that. The money he would bring in we could buy some1 more committed. Dortmund have shown interest in bentner recently so we should try player plus cash swap for lewandowski. Class player can finish with both feet and good in the air

Dozza

Believable22 Unbelievable14

Stop believing the press and wait.

Its like everyone wants RVP leave. If he leaves we will be worse off this year than last, its a fact I am afraid. Show me who will come in and score 30 league goals. No-one so lets all prey he stays

Spain Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

If rvp want to go,let him. Cash in, but to europe not to our main rivals

Agree0 Disagree0

Was just going to post, but saw this post. I agree let rvp go if he wants to go, he use to be my personal favourite, even though he was injury prone, being as brittle as a China plate at a Greek restaurant. One good season without injury, and now by the looks of it wants out. Some way to repay the faith, the manager, staff, players and most importantly the fans have shown in him throughout the frustrating previous years of his brittleness.

One good season doesn't make the player, loyalty, comitment, and gratitude make the player.

Ps wish Verira would take his size 18's and shove them where where the sun don't shine

Lots of love true arsenal legends

Agree0 Disagree0

He didn't score the 30+ goals in assisted though most have been well worked team goals or great assists from the middle. I'd love him to stay he's a true arsenal legend and love to see him on a level with Henry but I just don't think it's game over if he does go

Dozza

Agree0 Disagree0

Poppycock

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski for RVP thats about it, not made an offer for Mvilla or Vertongen. Diaby and Wilshere are like new signings

Agree0 Disagree0

The main problem here is that RVP is being to non committal and evasive in all his comments, and as AFC supporters we have been here soooo many times before we know what is going on - he is holding the club to ransom (but i do think he is worth a probably £30m for his three contract) and we also know that AFC wont pay.
so for me and like most comments lets sell and re-invest

Im hearing that Abidal has announced his retirement. If thats true, what a big shame. He has been an immense defender for so long, and him being out, was the reason barca struggled defensively.

Believable18 Unbelievable4

^

good shout, he was a really top defender and showed amazing strength during his battles back to health

Aint it funny everyone knows about RVP! no-one does so shut up!

Also arsenal are in for a GK to challenge Schezney, being as our back up GK wanna leave. surprising no-one has picked up on this?!?!

Romford Gunner

Believable14 Unbelievable3

Well said on RVP exactly what i've been thinking. The backup goal keeper has been mentioned quite a bit over the last 2 weeks on here only people are guessing as to who atm.

Gavsta

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take Craig gordon free from Sunderland as back up

Agree0 Disagree0

Well done sir, schez ain,t quite as good as he and everyone thinks, even if he does turn out better, fabianski aint good enoughfor back up,we needa decent keeper 25ish proven, not to make rash decisions,in hopefully big games to come.before we go and buy a load of tip tap toe, willow the wisp attackers.oh by the way song might be off aswell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Craig Gordon is out of Contract at Sunderland, would be a fantastic back up and would, given match fitness challenge for the no 1 shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank u, just annoys me that everyone believes the press and that RVP now wants 275k a week! I very much doubt that lol

Craig Gordon not a bad choice actually, I liked him before he went to Sunderland

Arsenal paid £2.75 mill plus his wages for RVP. Yes we have stood by him as a club and as fans, knowing he can be the player he has been this year, I would love him to show us how much he appreciates that! However if he decides to move on, then £27mill could be a nice handshake. Bring in Ba £7mill, Huntlaar (spelling) £16-18mill and a hard bargain, spend some money on an out and out left winger. With M'vila and Plod signing we will be in a great position.

We will need to replace Flappy also!

Mong Out!

Believable18 Unbelievable12

Whats happening to Arsenal, we need to keep Van Persie, we cant keep selling players when they are hitting there peak! if we do then it seems to me were happy to play for 3rd and 4th spot! Do you think the money for him will be used to bring in someone good! NO we might spend 10 to 12 and the rest goes else where so then we go buy someone whos ok but not world class! same old rubbish.

RVP hasnt signed he held talks and declined FACT

MIKEE

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite rightly so, waiting to see what the club could entice over the summer.

he's doing us a favour really, holding the club to ransom to improve the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP has not declined yet however AW can not make a decision on pay rise and Barcelona, Juventus and Man City are interested

Agree0 Disagree0

SURPRISE SURPRISE NO TALKS HAVE BEEN HELD RE contracts. The meeting was to discuss the future layout. Nothing more. And the meeting wasnt even at wenger's house. And yes no one really knows the outcome of that meeting

Arsenal to sign Christian Eriksen and Van Der Weil from Ajax this is why we walked away from Vertonghen, We are putting together a £35m bid for the 2 players combined, M'Vila is signing Monday, and Sakho will be coming from PSG for £8m, also hear that we could be challenging for Lavezzi, now RVP if this isnt your club showing ambition what is!, I am literally creaming at the thought of a mid of M'Vila Jack and Eriksen.
Come on you Gunners!!!
Cricklewood Gooner

Believable30 Unbelievable29

M'vila, a fit and healthy wilshere and an established eriksen....actually this would be better than a midfield of fabregas, nasri and wilshere, in my mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh man lavezzi on the left wing + Ryo learning. sounds amazing!

With eriksson n van der weil - robins gotta stay!

MIKEE

Agree0 Disagree0

Just interested not having a go but do you have information or is it an educated guess?

Bermy Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Sadly that is never going to happen...

Even if we were to recoup 15-20mln from the sale of RVP; I highy doubt it would be reinvested into 3 players.

At best it would allow us to target 1 more attack - maybe Loic Remy

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

I so want to believe this...this is perfect fr arsenal!
eriksen at 20 and van der weil 24..sound like typical arsenal targets!
and huntelaar at 28 is a perfect persie replacement! a true poacher who can shoot like a tank!

Plus we need to sell our trash...hope someone buys squilacci, park and chamakh from us. Plzz..

Agree0 Disagree0

Lavezzi is close to signing for PSG so we won't be getting him.

Agree0 Disagree0

So we are going to sign all 4 of them players and are also going in for Lavezzi? Wow can really see this happening considering everything thats happening at our club. OM!! Wowzers! Ssuper duper Henry Cooper!! I mean really, I'm not saying I would'nt like them signings cause I would be lieing but.... Eriksen has allready stated he is staying putt and Lavezzi is going to PSG almost certainty. AW will sign a player or 2 but all 4 of the above and go for Lavezzi, sorry not going to happen.

Gavsta

Agree0 Disagree0

R u insane, what a hell r u talking about?! Or was this just your sense of humour,in that case i admit,u got me... perhaps mvila, certainly nobody else from this list

also after 8 years of standing by our injury prone striker (RVP) we got 1 great year out of him now that is loyalty from the club to him to pay his wages and to stand by him in making his comeback. Would any other top club stand by him or even sign him if we were to ditch him when he was injured....I highly doubt it.. Yea he wants to win things but he has hardly played in the last 8 years so its not like he hasn't won anything for 8 years because he hasn't played regardless of who he was playing for.. Now all arsenal fans would love him to stay but if he does decide to leave to a english club I hope the fans let him no this FACT when he returns to the emirates..that's if he does snake the club I for 1 hope he stays tho
LONDON GOONER

Believable13 Unbelievable4

Whats all this about loyalty...its a profession besides entertainment for yourself.

If you have a job and another company wants to pay you twice the money you stay for loyalty? rationality and logic seem to escape most of you.

robin is living his life. did he plan to be injured?

we want almunia and squillachi gone. what if they claimed they have been loyal and want a contract extension? we would want to cut their heads off...its a two way street.

Arsenal want to keep him pay up. its his last pay day. and he wants to win. Its his terms. they give him what he wants he stays if they dont why should he?

everyone loves to talk as if they are super loyal and all that B.S.

fact is none of you would be loyal even if you played for arsenal. unless your aim is to pick up a pay cheque and be 3rd best all the time...then well you guys embrace then new arsenal culture..3rd is best.

Im fed up of this 8 year trophy drought and the fact we wont spend over 15 mill. and then expect to win trophies...yes we spend less than sunderland and are top 3...spend a bit more and we can win...

no changes this summer i want wenger out...love the guy but i love winning more...

Agree0 Disagree0

It's more than a job when the job is your passion. When you have fans who adore you.

Agree0 Disagree0

The post above is possibly the most disillusioned thing I have ever read, by the sound of things you don't even enjoy football? It is simply peoples career paths that we are following? You have to be the most close minded person I have come across if you don't recognize that there is more to football than money, it is about passion and LOYALTY among all other qualities that make it so enjoyable to follow and be a part of. 'wenger out.. love the guy but i love winning more' I'm sure the citeh fans would love to take you on board if you would happily see yourself out of our club.

W12Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I kinda agree with what your saying but if your gona talk about logic and rationality surely we should look at the rationality behind paying blokes to run around a little bit and kick a ball, albeit kick with talent, such high sums of money. We all would take the switch to a higher paid job as it would increase the quality of life for us and our family. This is not the case for footballers as their wages are already soo high. Also I would be careful using quotes of Nasri on here mate.
BD

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you on about ^ - he said he would rather wenger leave us and we win trophies, than he stay and we dont. Im all for passion in football, but your comment suggests that perhaps you dont have much in your life other than football, and your making up for that by being opinionated.

This isnt the 70's. Football is absolutely about peoples careers and the money they are making. Like it or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't blame RVP, blame Wenger. His experiment has failed. But the most dissapoint news is not abaout RVP leaving it's about the overpaid dross staying. Wenger's policy rewards failures.

Agree0 Disagree0

Here come the AW haters again. Things have been good for a while now on this board and then BAM!! season ends and its hate AW time. 1 quick question, are you Spuds in disguise?

Gavsta

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you guys not realise how many players will want to leave if Wenger goes?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2012 12:04:09
I'm sure arsenal play city in a pre season tournament. Can't see wenger selling too city anyway they never want to do business with us when we are interested in their players so y should we sell anymore to them
LONDON GOONER

Believable3 Unbelievable5

If they have to sell they sell to the club that will pay the most, and that is city. We have sold them 5 players in the last 3 years so why not another one.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2012 11:42:27
Usmanov has bought 8 shares since May2, now has 18495, 29.727%, 171 off 30%

Believable7 Unbelievable3

People (arsenal supporters) with shares NEED to sell to help the club back to some normality (i sold mine), while Kroenke is in charge he will allow Wenger to just make money and the saddest thing about all this is that Wenger is also happy not winning and to just make money or he has his own head up his arse with this desire to win with no budget..........................

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP wants 230k p/w + 6m + 4 years = £53.8m
AFC offer 130k p/w + 5m + 3 years = £25.3m

Massive gap, and if you have been offered the difference of 28m, you'd sell your soul too.

Doesn't want to leave afc, but will be surely in the running for world player of the year, already crowned the best player in England. RVP wants what he is due!

AFC can't afford the gap supposedly, shock! Podolski new number 10?

Believable10 Unbelievable12

^^^

RG

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal will not budge on there offer. by by VP. football makes me sick!! money has ruined it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wants what he is due? AFC stood by him through all his injury problems and this is his chance to give something back. If he aint happy with it fair enough, just leave now and do us all a favour - I'm bored of this crap every summer about our best players

Agree0 Disagree0

Brings 'mind the gap' a whole new meaning...

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes he 's had an amazing year, but thats it 1 year. I don't think that he is 'owed' that much tbh! Especially not that sort of money!

Fletch

Agree0 Disagree0

Load of Bull..........

Agree0 Disagree0

Put yourself in his place...a career which spans around 20 years to last a lifetime. yea they make alot of money cause not everyone makes a life in football after football.

25 mill whatever if that is the difference thats a good 10 year lifestyle he will miss out on.

i would jump at the opportunity, dont see why you guys would blame him. Rooney is on near 200K...welbeck is on 45K.

rvp on 90K, atleast double it, instead of giving him 40K payrise, surround him with the likes of djourour and ramsey and then expect him to play like a 250k a week player.

this is B.S - the supporters of arsenal may have class the board sure as hell doesnt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really did he tell you that is the exact number he wanted? LOL

CT

Agree0 Disagree0

The figures may not be right, but it is not a load of bull, RVP and his agents rate him as one the top ten players in the world and they want some parity with those in that earning bracket

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey, if we sell RVP and get Giroud, and another striker to back him up, with that money and pair him with Poldi and Walcott, it fine by me too...

Agree0 Disagree0

Does one season of football, granted one very good one, but still one season non the less really grant that kind of wage increase? Maybe if he had shown some consistency over the last 8 years then it would be but one season or 18 months at best does not im afraid, show some loyalty and comitment to the people who have kept you and your family in the life you have become accustomed to the last 8 years, leaving now would make rvp no different to nasri in my eyes, £130,000 per week not enough? Deluded somes it up

Agree0 Disagree0

On twitter saying his agent wants 275 k per week ,parity with messi and ronaldo

Agree0 Disagree0

When its not your money its easy to say pay him 250,000, can't afford that amount of money ,every one else will be at the door demanding mega money, 130,000 and 5 mill is a fair offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2012 10:42:35
I've been informed by 'an insider' that Theo has extended his contract - now lets resolve RVP and pay him the monies that other worldclass player receive (£175+ a week) (don't be cheap Arsenal)

M

Believable15 Unbelievable8

If he wants 175k a week let him go that is a stupid amount for any player to be paid and player are only asking for that much because of the likes of Man $hity
If he loves Arsenal that much then Im sure he could survive on 130k a week or what ever we are offering
Clubs can not pay players that much and hope to make profits and they can not do it it without rich owners who treat there clubs like football manager I realy hope the fair play rules are made to work no club should be able to spend beyond its means

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal arent being cheap u bel! No club run properly and not by a sugar daddy can afford 175+ wages! We live in the real world with financial limitations unlike some billionaires toy like city

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately the board at arsenal is cheap. 40K payrise for the best striker in the epl, who has single handidly earned the club a 25mill windfall by keeping them in the champions league, but they will pay him peanuts and expect him to play like a 250K a week player.
Arsenal Board = no class

Lakerville

Agree0 Disagree0

U bel! - thats not nice and shows your non comprehension with market price/cost/wages - why did we move to the emirates, why do i pay £1300 quid a year for my season ticket - not to celebrate 3rd --- we can afford it, as PV04 said if we continue along these strict wage guidelines and continue to lose our best players what is going to happen when Wilshire wants a mega pay deal?????

Agree0 Disagree0

They have to be strict otherwise we could end up like Leeds! And they are strict but still up there with the top clubs it's just city have taken it to another level and I don't care what u say we can't compete with it! Again we are not cheap! If city are aloud to keep doin this there will be no competition left in the epl!

Agree0 Disagree0

You pay to be entertained , your choice whether you pay 1300 for a season ticket

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2012 10:36:24
What would people think if we were to sign Luuk De Jong from FC Twente? I reckon we could do a deal for him and he would be great IMO. Good options for the central striker. Rvp will hopefully stay so we would have De Jong Rvp and Podolski

Believable7 Unbelievable9

Doesn't look to me as though RVP will stay. It's time Arsenal fans took a stand against the board. Don't get on at your manager as there's no way you would have achieved everything you have had it not been for that man. Your board are destroying your club!

Agree0 Disagree0

De jong has the potntial to be betta than rvp(i'm not saying i want him to leave and i really rate him)

Agree0 Disagree0

If RVP leaves there MUST be a big name striker to replace him, however I hope he stays. What do you think of this; not de jong but M Owen or G Holt, both are pretty old so are more likely to be happy to sit on the bench playing cups and coming on to change our system of play when its not working with the main men on- we have all seen this too many times and been frustrated by it. Id prefer Owen as he could teach Afobe and J Campbell a hell of a lot and would be dirt cheap to sign having been released. Its a short term fix while the youngsters mature.

I read that usmanov has a 10% stake in facebook and it has just made him 6 billion. We have got the wrong man in charge. Can you imagine what our transfer budget would be with him in charge.

Believable19 Unbelievable1

Im not a fan off these 'sugar daddy' owners, but i cant see any benefit from silent Stans ownership at all.

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmm?

His - supposed - stake of 10% would be worth that amount in the event of a successful sale at the highest price, but since the talk is of a 'pump and dump' situation this seems unlikely.

Even if this were not so, the size of his wad does not make a fig leaf large enough to cover up his dubious character (let alone the ongoing attempts to recover the wealth he ... er ... acquired by those in government and commerce who don't quite share his definitions of ownership!)

Besides, I am quite happy supporting Arsenal. If you want to support Man city go ahead, they seem to be content to let their money do the talking - although the new fair play rules might quieten them down a bit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you really want a bunch of mercenaries playing for arsenal like city?

CT

Agree0 Disagree0

He stands to pocket 1 billion from his shares not 6 billion according to a couple of articles i read.

Just a 100 million will do Mr Usmanov.... It will cover Van Persies New contract, M'Villa, Ganso and a back up striker....

Jimbo

Agree0 Disagree0

He has a 32% stake in Digital Sky Technologies, who paid $200m for a 1.96% stake in social networking website Facebook.

I make that about a 0.6% share in Facebook?

JW

Agree0 Disagree0

Kroenke already owns a football team and has experience of 'sports business'...money is good but not if you can't apply it in the right manner.

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems to be the only way to progress these days, personally i've said it here b4 i'd love usmanov in with David Dein, Keep Wenger and spend money

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Budget?

It wouldn't be in usmanov's dictionary mate!

Of course I exaggerate, but I'm positive if he was here, RVP would currently be on £200k a week, Nasri would still
Be here and who knows maybe we would of got hazard all those years ago when we were keen on a £20m 19 year old instead of a £200k a week £35 million 21 year old who EVERYONE is after

S

Agree0 Disagree0

It's the re introduction of David dein that usmanov would bring. They still wouldn't pay silly money for players but it's deins persuasiveness which is what's needed.

Paul - Rochester

Agree0 Disagree0

Kroenke may have experience, but Usmanov has someone that I think we all want back at the club, David Dein has a share in red and white holdings plc the company that Usamnov is using to try to buy Arsenal. But either way I think the club is in good hands, although Usmanov has an abundance of money, Kroenke is in no way poor.
BD

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish the club was run like barca and madrid, for the people. where the president elected would have a duty to the people to put a team that can contend.

we have the money we just dont spend it...our 17 year olds have turned 24 and still suck or have been sold. this wont happen at those clubs, they sell the s**te players.

Im not asking wenger to buy messi or ronaldo or kaka or any player over 30 mill.

but we could have had mata, we could have had dzeko, we could have had nasri still, we can still keep persie, we can buy quality players, and attract big commercial deals.

yet we are happy being the 3rd best in the epl and 4th richest in the world...

F.U arsenal board...especially Peter hill wood.

Lakerville

Agree0 Disagree0

He bought 5% of Facebook share for £900 million. When it floats on the Stockmarket this afternoon they will be worth just under £6 Billion if the company reaches its estimated value of £100 Billion. Usmanov was approached secretly by Zucckerberg in 2009 and the deal was set up by Goldman Sachs. Usmanov owns a substantial part of Gazprom who sponsor Shaktar (until 2014) and this is how he could flood the Arsenal with cash

Agree0 Disagree0

What's all d fuss about??

A tree doesn't make a forest!!
Being d best player and highest goal scorer was all a team effort which RVP benefited from! (Or while he was injure for a season back then, did he get this glamour?)

Gosh if he wants to go, pls AW cash in on him and show that we can do it without him; buy good players, world class, planet class, all class that have both the skill and d desire to win!
We have numerous world and skillful players in, europe,asia,south-america even in africa...

Really I've been scared b4 now about RVP leaving but now I careless...to me it should only be a to challenge the board, the manager and players that this is the time to show the world that they aren't bad and they've got the zeal to win... Not for money but loyalty to the club

AJ@

Believable9 Unbelievable2

I think everyone is more worried because Aw/board probably wont buy a world class replacement. Podolski is probably it and rubbish like cham as back up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree aj@,rvp is 29 now,and to be honest weve only had one great season out of him,he defo owes arsenal but if he wants to go and we get 30+mil that will do me,also dont forget if the 130k reportedly offered is correct thats another 9-10mil over the next 3 years that 130k will pay 2 top players and the transfer fee will buy them.i hope he stays but if he goes i wont mope about it either
