top 3 candidates to replace wenger if he leaves:


Owen Coyle: good manager, plays nice football with a mid-table team with mid-table resources but is very truthful and has an eye for talent (Wilshere, sturrige, cahill etc)

David Moyes: Exceeded evertons expectations considering they have an extremely poor owner, gets on with players and has made some cracking buys, unfortunate not to have financial backing otherwise i think everton would challenge for fourth.


Carlo Ancelotti: Great manager, weve seen what he can do, plays attractive football in a basic system with tactics that will adapt to the type of opponent they are up against, makes some good buys and opts to stay in london in terms of managerial work.

what do you guys think?

Owen coyle ? david moyes ? wont happen. Ancelotti i was thinking about today, but its unlikely due to his wages...when wenger leaves, he will be replaced by someone who isnt well established in the top flight..thats my opinion.

I'd love it to be Coyle, he'd get us back to basics whilst playing decent football.

About the same as wengers.

Wenger is on high wages, don't see why they wouldn't pay for ancelotti.

Doubt anchelotti would be much different in wages to wenger, wenger is on big bucks (In top 10 highest paid I believe), hence why it is too expensive to sack him.

Deffinately Moyesey for me - right age, experienced, ptoven track record - perfect man for the job

Top 10? ha..after so many years, of course he is - but did u see what anchelotti turned down from chelsea to stay there ? no.1 highest paid manager....if he cared about money, he wouldnt goto arsenal - but who knows.

Seriously. if we sack wenger we are ruined! you lot should be careful for what you wish for. Wenger is one of the best managers in the world. molyes? coyle? pffft...

None neither are suitable candidates.

Ancellotti will do a good job, but only if he knew the board will keep in place for say 4-5 years, then he will change the squad and tactics

Ancellotti doesnt play gd football and it would take along time and alot of signings to the change the way the current team plays. we took a risk when arsene wenger was brought in and he was a success overall so i do see why it couldnt work again if wenger was to leave. out of the three i would prefer moyes as he has experience both in the prem and in europe and he is able to get the best out of his players. also he is able to find gd players for cheap.

Dont think any would happen. moyes i believe destined to succeed fergie, ancelotti, good but too costly, coyle just not good enough. said all along id like to see van basten. young and with an international name to attract quality players. dont see coyle having that attraction. with the current board in place and there only concern to finish in the top 4 (not bothered about winning trophies)id anticipate they would want an arsenal person and the only person with relative experience, how bout David o Leary? been out of the lime light for a while but would prob sort out the defense. what you all think?

Moyes with money would win the league !! He could do it at everton if he had the money, look at what he does at everton with no money, turned them into a decent team who challenges in the top 6, my opinion though, KEEP WENGER !! 3 viable options in my eyes. Ancelotti would probably do well quickly but the other 2 could be great long term options, giving a sound base upon which to re-build

My personal favourite is Moyes, but I always think the biggest obstacle for a manager moving up the ranks to a bigger team is learning how to sign big players and to deal with their egos

Just look at the tripe Hodgson brought into Liverpool when he got given his chance at a bigger team!

The board do not agree w/ Arsene's philosophy that they need to break the wage structure they have.

Both agree however on spending 'BIG BUCKS' to buy players - The wages are the issue.

The board are pragmatists. They will authorise both spending and wages once they realise what mess we are in.
Look at the Arshavin purchase, the Adebayor.Diaby and Walcott buys. All these came when 4th place was in doubt.

The Shareholders who sold up to Kroenke and Usmanov made a good old profit out of it. Now fans have to pay more for tickets and the wage structure is the same which means we cant get decent players in.

I said on this forum in the summer that we are in a terrible decline and got criticised for suggesting that Wenger should go. Well things are going grom bad to worse and there is no chance of us qualifying the CL next season. We need a manager who shows passion and does not just sit on his backside sipping water when things are going wrong. Wenger is clueless and needs to go. Time for Pat Rice to step up and get stuck into the bunch of overpaid underperformers!

Why would anybody come to us? I have supported Arsenal for 40 years and this is the worst set of defenders that I have seen. Still there is always the Carling Cup to look forward to - defeat at home to Shrewsbury on the cards!

I think the change of manager needs to be made soon.......otherwise we could be following the route of liverpool of being out the champs league and having to build a squad of overpriced players as without it we wont get top class players regardless of the history of arsenal

Nevermind following Liverpool what about following Leeds thats what im worried about.

The mood of Arsenal fans is for Wenger to go, let's see how the faithful react on Tuesday and Saturday

I don't think throwing more money at the problem is the answer right now. We ended the season on a low, we brought players and started the season on a low, we brought even more players at the end of the window and are continuing the season on a low. On paper at least we have a reasonable team.

The problem is the manager. If A new manager came in and changed the tactics I'm sure we would do better

That's kind of selective mate - we sold some amazing players and some good ones when we needed additions, we then didn't replace them, then we panic-bought players who are past, spent, unproven, and nowhere near ready. Arteta is the only person I am really happy with.

No I do not think he will spend in January and at any rate if he does it will not be anyone we think, and the reason we think and want and speculate on players coming is because they are good, and he buys crap.

I would love to see Ancelotti or Moyes at the club.
