top 3 candidates to replace wenger if he leaves:

Owen Coyle: good manager, plays nice football with a mid-table team with mid-table resources but is very truthful and has an eye for talent (Wilshere, sturrige, cahill etc)

David Moyes: Exceeded evertons expectations considering they have an extremely poor owner, gets on with players and has made some cracking buys, unfortunate not to have financial backing otherwise i think everton would challenge for fourth.

Carlo Ancelotti: Great manager, weve seen what he can do, plays attractive football in a basic system with tactics that will adapt to the type of opponent they are up against, makes some good buys and opts to stay in london in terms of managerial work.

what do you guys think?

Believable22 Unbelievable25

Owen coyle ? david moyes ? wont happen. Ancelotti i was thinking about today, but its unlikely due to his wages...when wenger leaves, he will be replaced by someone who isnt well established in the top flight..thats my opinion.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

Ancelotti for me. He would sort out our defence

Agree0 Disagree0

What would Ancelotti's wages be?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love it to be Coyle, he'd get us back to basics whilst playing decent football.

Agree0 Disagree0

About the same as wengers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger is on high wages, don't see why they wouldn't pay for ancelotti.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt anchelotti would be much different in wages to wenger, wenger is on big bucks (In top 10 highest paid I believe), hence why it is too expensive to sack him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Deffinately Moyesey for me - right age, experienced, ptoven track record - perfect man for the job
AG

Agree0 Disagree0

Top 10? ha..after so many years, of course he is - but did u see what anchelotti turned down from chelsea to stay there ? no.1 highest paid manager....if he cared about money, he wouldnt goto arsenal - but who knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously. if we sack wenger we are ruined! you lot should be careful for what you wish for. Wenger is one of the best managers in the world. molyes? coyle? pffft...

Agree0 Disagree0

None neither are suitable candidates.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ancellotti will do a good job, but only if he knew the board will keep in place for say 4-5 years, then he will change the squad and tactics

Agree0 Disagree0

Ancellotti doesnt play gd football and it would take along time and alot of signings to the change the way the current team plays. we took a risk when arsene wenger was brought in and he was a success overall so i do see why it couldnt work again if wenger was to leave. out of the three i would prefer moyes as he has experience both in the prem and in europe and he is able to get the best out of his players. also he is able to find gd players for cheap.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think any would happen. moyes i believe destined to succeed fergie, ancelotti, good but too costly, coyle just not good enough. said all along id like to see van basten. young and with an international name to attract quality players. dont see coyle having that attraction. with the current board in place and there only concern to finish in the top 4 (not bothered about winning trophies)id anticipate they would want an arsenal person and the only person with relative experience, how bout David o Leary? been out of the lime light for a while but would prob sort out the defense. what you all think?

paul - rochester

Agree0 Disagree0

Owen coyle!?!?! what planet are you people on!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would hate it if Owen Coyle became our manager.
Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets keep Wenger and finish top 10 - Yeah baby, lets stagnate forever
I am am just off to buy some eighties wallpaper, cant imagine ever getting anything else, that wallpaper made my house what it is today

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes with money would win the league !! He could do it at everton if he had the money, look at what he does at everton with no money, turned them into a decent team who challenges in the top 6, my opinion though, KEEP WENGER !! Best in the buisness, we will come good soon, everyone needs to calm down !

Agree0 Disagree0

3 viable options in my eyes. Ancelotti would probably do well quickly but the other 2 could be great long term options, giving a sound base upon which to re-build

My personal favourite is Moyes, but I always think the biggest obstacle for a manager moving up the ranks to a bigger team is learning how to sign big players and to deal with their egos

Just look at the tripe Hodgson brought into Liverpool when he got given his chance at a bigger team!

so that would be the risk

Agree0 Disagree0

What about frank rikaard, been there and done it also not scared to splash the cash

Wenger says the defence have no confidence!!
well wenger u are paid to make sure this does not happen if you cant we need a new manager

please play 4-4-2. Do something u stubborn man

Believable27 Unbelievable10

100% agree with the poster, it s up to the players and the manager to deal with this.
Defensive line needs adjusting, defensive members may then need adjusting, zonal marking needs abolishing.

Agree0 Disagree0

He tried zonal because man didn't work last season

Agree0 Disagree0

I have no confidence and I am not doing so well in my job either. Can I have £7m please

To Anyone Who Honestly Believes Theres Money for Wenger Be Seriously Theres Money Hes Not Spending It?? If Thats True Why Are They Letting Him Run Their Club Into The Ground??

Believable17 Unbelievable9

So many reasons. But there is money, the accounts show it

Agree0 Disagree0

There's Money They Just Won't Let Him Spend It Even Nasri Said It

Agree0 Disagree0

What, The Are Two Of You Who Type Like This??

One Is Gooner99 Who Is The Other One?

Agree0 Disagree0

He's there because he makes a s**t load of money for the shareholders! That's thte only reason, Arsenal are something like the 6th richest club in the world because he doesn't spend money!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Because He Doesnt Get Any Money

Agree0 Disagree0

The board do not agree w/ Arsene's philosophy that they need to break the wage structure they have.

Both agree however on spending 'BIG BUCKS' to buy players - The wages are the issue.

Agree0 Disagree0

The board are pragmatists. They will authorise both spending and wages once they realise what mess we are in.
Look at the Arshavin purchase, the Adebayor.Diaby and Walcott buys. All these came when 4th place was in doubt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ohh Yeahh I'm Andy

And Something's Gotta Give And Very Soon

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is the sharehoders dont actually get any money so it doesnt matter how much money wenger makes

Agree0 Disagree0

Why Do You Insist On Capitalizing Every Word?

Really, it makes you look quite foolish.

Also, this is a rumors page, not a rant page. If you want to rant, start your own blog (where you can CAPITALIZE TO YOUR HEARTS CONTENT!).

Agree0 Disagree0

The Shareholders who sold up to Kroenke and Usmanov made a good old profit out of it. Now fans have to pay more for tickets and the wage structure is the same which means we cant get decent players in.

By The Way I Don't Actually Believe This But My Friend Told Me Last Night That

End Of The Season Pat Rice Leaves Arsenal
Wenger Goes Upstairs To The Board
And We Bring In Guadiola
Supposedly He Respect Wenger And All Hes Done For Arsenal :/

Well Let's See

Believable11 Unbelievable42

Why would Guardiola come to us? He surely has a dream job at Barca?

Agree0 Disagree0

Altough i don't see why he would this isnt as ridiculous as it would seem, Pep has said more than once that Barcelona isn't his long term future and last season said maybe 2 more seasons at Barca.
I have wondered a few times are Arsenal waiting for our next manager to be available?

Agree0 Disagree0

I Do Think It Could Happen, But Do I Think It Will...

Agree0 Disagree0

I Agree with some of the comments, I think it will be pat rice last season because of fitness. Guardiola has done a great job at barca but could he do it here
Only other thing is. Wenger has his own replacement in line?.

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon he does actually that's a good point - he is that arrogant that he will be permitted to choose his own replacement... just goes to show how back seat the board is really. No manager should have that power, it gives 100% the wrong message about their stature in relation to the club as a whole. This is not his club it is our club, run by the board, if Wenger goes, the board should decide who replaces him. If they can't decide, then they should go too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well as good as pep is i really dont think wenger is any worse.

If wenger had barcelona players would we be in our current form?

What could happen is wenger leaves and joins barcelona and pep comes to arsenal.

now in that fantasy football scenario it still does not bode well for us.

pep has spent close to 380 million euros since he took over. yes he has brought titles in and all that...but in reality...ibrahimovic and eto combined for nearly 100 million loss in revenue. when they could have bought no one and still won...barca are truly blessed from above to have messi...damn them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pep wasn't the 1 to make Barca great. Cryff in the 80's & later on Rijkaard with the fruit of Cryff's project made them the team they are. Pep just walked into the job. Wenger is doing the exact same thing (just not as well) his predessesor at Grampus 8 will prob be our next boss! i cant recall his name but i think he is serbian or from a similar baltic/eatern block state
MK Fox {Ed007's Note - It is Dragan Stojkovic who is their manager. I'm that old I can remember him playing with Red Star Belgrade and Marseille (no sniggering at the the back!)

Agree0 Disagree0

If wenger steps aside it will be stojkovic taking over not pep

Agree0 Disagree0

One day will happen

Agree0 Disagree0

I think wenger should leave and we should make pep guardiola as boss and buy players like hazar cahill and mvilla

Believable22 Unbelievable27

That be great
buh cmon why wud pep leave now
if it happens i think il be in a few years when wengers contracts up

Agree0 Disagree0

I said on this forum in the summer that we are in a terrible decline and got criticised for suggesting that Wenger should go. Well things are going grom bad to worse and there is no chance of us qualifying the CL next season. We need a manager who shows passion and does not just sit on his backside sipping water when things are going wrong. Wenger is clueless and needs to go. Time for Pat Rice to step up and get stuck into the bunch of overpaid underperformers!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger is on borrowed time now.A good hiding off tottenham and he will be gone.
pep guardiola in our dreams!

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha some of us are still in denail pep is going to be gagging to come down to arsenal ..... ive tryed to post alot abount how were in for it this year if a few injurys go agaist us , if wenger dont buy well in january then exspect jack and van persie to leave and for his own sake i hope van persie does go he deserves better than this right now

tony too

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would he come to us? Barcelona are favourites for the CL and we won't even qualify. No decent manager would quit a team and come to us. It's a sorry state of affairs

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a really good idea, maybe he can bring Messi and Fabregas with him too.....dream on

Agree0 Disagree0

Another CM2011 player. You make me laugh!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would anybody come to us? I have supported Arsenal for 40 years and this is the worst set of defenders that I have seen. Still there is always the Carling Cup to look forward to - defeat at home to Shrewsbury on the cards!

Agree0 Disagree0

Noones better than aw, we will finish top 4. You just wait and see. You won't be able to enjoy it because you've given up faith.

Agree0 Disagree0

We're 17th after 5 games you muppet!

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Sep 2011 13:34:06
why did we sell adebayor

Believable10 Unbelievable35

Because wherever Adebayor goes,he has one good season and the gets lazy, also City offered the right money. As well as that,he and Bendtner never got on with each other.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah so who do u get rid of bentner or addy ! we shound of never sold him yeah hes got a mouth big deal give him a alittle slap and a smile and everythings fine ! hes not a bad person wenger shound of never ever sold him the spuds will top us this year beleive me !

tony too

Agree0 Disagree0

Go back to sleep man.

Agree0 Disagree0

You obviously never went to watch matches.

A GOONER

Agree0 Disagree0

Ade$£bayor is a money grabber

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah go and rest your head! im a season ticket holder and i have been the last 5 seasons and he wasnt the player that the fans respected.. he tried filling thierry's boots and he couldnt

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should of resigned adeybayor him and van persie was a great partnership it was a shame it could not last

Agree0 Disagree0

Cause he's a knob head.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Cos he was s**te. After this 1st season he couldn't score in a brothel. He had more chances than any other striker and could never hit the target.

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually said this before he went to spurs just to pay he's wages is not a gamble and if he plays up sgip him back to city, nothing ventured nothing gained

Agree0 Disagree0

Adebayor starts of the season on fire then fades away.
He is a striker that when he is hot is is awesome, otherwise he is a nightmare

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he sucked big time!! and bendtner as well!

Agree0 Disagree0

He said in an interview after his first game 'Arsenal still have a place in my heart, I'm at spurs to do a job, and thats it. I'm a professional.'

Would DEFO be a starter for us! LOL!

cammy out!

Believable8 Unbelievable19

No he wouldn't Szczesney is one of the best gks around

I agree just a pity we have one of the worst defences in front of him.

Believable6 Unbelievable33

Squlliachi 5 mill are u forreal get an education

tony too

Agree0 Disagree0

Coquelin looks promising

Agree0 Disagree0

Are You Like 12 We Sell Miguel And It Will Be Manu And Pique All Over Again

Agree0 Disagree0

Also Fabianksi is a perfectly adequate back up keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

I had no idea that Shakespeare took such an interest in football.

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't recognise any of the players mentioned, or can't the contributor spell?

Agree0 Disagree0

You play FIFA too much.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Sep 2011 13:26:51
I think the change of manager needs to be made soon.......otherwise we could be following the route of liverpool of being out the champs league and having to build a squad of overpriced players as without it we wont get top class players regardless of the history of arsenal

Believable21 Unbelievable14

Nevermind following Liverpool what about following Leeds thats what im worried about.

Agree0 Disagree0

The mood of Arsenal fans is for Wenger to go, let's see how the faithful react on Tuesday and Saturday

Rafael Benitez will replace wenger as new Arsenal boss before xmas .you wait and see.

Believable7 Unbelievable49

Doubt it. I have money on Ancelotti

Agree0 Disagree0

Benitez is not the answer he has not got the managerial expertise that arsenal need, arsenal need to go for x chelski manager carlo ancelotti, this man would turn us around & make us great again..

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance.......this is the same benitez that took a treble winning inter side and turned them into a very average team in a short period of time

Agree0 Disagree0

I wud like rjkard or hidik

Agree0 Disagree0

Please NO

Agree0 Disagree0

God i hope not, what a total embarrassment that man was to Liverpool towards the end

Agree0 Disagree0

You freaks. You are not supporters!

Agree0 Disagree0

And I thought we had problems now ...

Agree0 Disagree0

Supporters we are we are not deluded by the past... is it arsenal you support or arsene wenger?? no man is bigger than the club, time for change!

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Sep 2011 11:15:24
I don't think throwing more money at the problem is the answer right now. We ended the season on a low, we brought players and started the season on a low, we brought even more players at the end of the window and are continuing the season on a low. On paper at least we have a reasonable team.

The problem is the manager. If A new manager came in and changed the tactics I'm sure we would do better

Believable20 Unbelievable17

That's kind of selective mate - we sold some amazing players and some good ones when we needed additions, we then didn't replace them, then we panic-bought players who are past, spent, unproven, and nowhere near ready. Arteta is the only person I am really happy with.

Agree0 Disagree0

True but do you trust Wenger to spend in January?

Maybe a couple of kids again but not quality

Agree0 Disagree0

No I do not think he will spend in January and at any rate if he does it will not be anyone we think, and the reason we think and want and speculate on players coming is because they are good, and he buys crap.

I would love to see Ancelotti or Moyes at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice fans....

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Sep 2011 10:47:26
arsene wenger given 6 more games to sort the mess out or he WILL be sacked.. in arsene we trust??? not any more he showed during the recent transfer window that he has definatly lost the plot

Believable27 Unbelievable16

He'll never turn it around. We have won just 8 games in our last 28. I can't see what will change in the next 6.

Agree0 Disagree0

In arsene we trust!!! (you donkey)

Agree0 Disagree0

6 games! are you serious!?! I would only give him 2 right now. If we gave him 6 and we failed in them 6 we would be out of the race for any place in Europe never mind the top 4. I did trust Wenger but I seriously think hes lost the dressing room. In 2 games I think we will be looking for a new manager. the way things are going I would rather see George Graham back! At least he can organize the defence! lol

Agree0 Disagree0

It would cost 18 mil to get rid

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol at thinking the board wouldn't mind busting £18m on the man who's going to lose their profits.

They allowed him to spend almost £17m on Ox [A Bargain in the long run, but nonetheless]

Agree0 Disagree0
