2-3 million for a player who just scored 20 in 23 apps for Feyenoord? Sounds dubious, Man City certainly don't need the money and he has two more years on his contract.

Also, according to Wikipedia, Feyenoord signed him on a 1 year loan deal with an option of a further 6 months next season. That suggest that the Dutch club have first refusal on his registration for the first half of next season.

Stezza.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also he is Swedish.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he meant he will be secind choice to giroud

Agree0 Disagree0

But we don't even have Giroud yet. Don't tempt fate or we never will.

Ed - with the news that Jan Vertonghen has all but signed on the dotted line at Spurs who do you think wenger might look at bringing in as a defensive alternative?
Do you know of any interest in Sakho at PSG? We are linked with him year after year. He would be an excellent and again,versatile option i think.

cheers

Andy {Ed022's Note - I don't know of any recent interest in Sakho, but I will find out for you.}

Believable5 Unbelievable6

Our top scout said we were looking at him but we don't need another cb atm

Agree0 Disagree0

Sakho's been making noises about leaving. Ancelloti dropped him which led to him missing out on a place in the national team for the Euros. He may well be available but only if we shift someone first.

Stezza.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless we sell djourou, and then its game on for us to sign a cb...probably not sakho though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love Sakho, but unlikely

Spain Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Sakho would not come to arsenal to sit the bench. Vermz merts kosser and sakho would be formidable to say the least

Agree0 Disagree0

Djourou wants to leave so why not swap him plus money for Sakho.

Ed,is there any chance of oliver giroud coming to us?? {Ed022's Note - Yes.}

Believable24 Unbelievable4

01 Jun 2012 19:31:06
so Vertonghen is gone....
1732 {Ed022's Note - It looks like Spurs have finally stopped being stingey and has put in the appropriate money. If Arsenal would have bid, he would have been their's in my opinion.}

Believable11 Unbelievable6

I think he chose spurs cos he is garunteed starting place at cb where as if he came to us he'd have to play second fiddle to Kos and verm

Agree0 Disagree0

But if we wanted him we would of got him
I would think Ed 022 is of the same opinion ?

Spain Gooner {Ed022's Note - If Arsenal really wanted him, then yes they would have got him very easily. But the thing is, I believe that the recent form of Koscielny (to be fair, he's been pretty awesome) put Arsenal off of looking at another CB for now.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed

Spain Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, but this is a perfect example of the failings of our current tight-fisted (sorry, prudent) transfer policy. What happens when one or both of Vermaelen or Koscielny is injured or suspended? The back up is Mertesacker who has been exposed as woefully short of pace for the Premiership and who is now consequently a bag of nerves and Djourou who is just not very good at football. Any club which wants to mount a serious challenge for honours (or even just qualify for the CL each year, which seems to be the limit of the ambition of the current regime) needs quality back-up in every position. We're missing this all over the park right now and the quibbling over the detail of transfer fees is making things worse.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2012 19:24:34
Any chance of Arsenal signing Benedikt Howedes from Schalke? Also how much would the fee be? Would imagine around 15millionish?

Any news on Benayoun's future? {Ed022's Note - He will leave Chelsea this summer.}

Believable17 Unbelievable3

Ed 022 - you are truly amazingly mystic ;)

Your powers are a true gift, thank you for sharing them

Agree0 Disagree0

He wants 70k/w for 2yrs. arsenal want him for 1yr. thats the problem

Agree0 Disagree0

Offer him two years if that is what he wants, just make sure we get him!!!

Hey,
I remember sometime last month skysports reported that Chelsea had signed Martin.. What happened with that? And why are we supposedlt interested now?
Thanks.. {Ed022's Note - I think you mean Marin - and it is pretty much done.}

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Agree with ed..u must be misread the news..

Agree0 Disagree0

Your both WRONG Marin has joined Chelsea and arsenal were linked with martin

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2012 14:54:20
Ed, what are the chances Marvin Martin signs for us this summer? Where do you think he is on the pecking order of midfielders we are tracking? {Ed022's Note - I am not entirely sure on Martin at the moment.}

"Arsenal target Olivier Giroud will not decide his future until after Euro 2012, according to The Sun.

This will come as a setback for Arsene Wenger who is keen to make early signings this summer and is ready with a £15 million summer raid.

Wenger instructed French-based scout Gilles Grimandi to compile a dossier on the French international striker who is rated at £50 million, but has a £12.8m release clause."

Will this mean Wenger will give up and look elsewhere?

Believable10 Unbelievable8

I dont see how he can be rated at £50m?

Agree0 Disagree0

£50m rated? Did they just pluck a number out of the air of something?

Agree0 Disagree0

So he's valued at 50mil, has a buyout clause of 12.8 and were ready to bid 15? Hmm. A deal with chamack the other way would be ideal bit doesn't look likely to me. I think its just people joining the vague dots of we want giroud from a French club, chamack used to play for a French club and fabricated the p/ex deal from there.

Arsene Wengers shopping list:

Alan Mcgregor(Done Deal, ignore other news)

Mapou Yanga Mbiwa(an approach has been made), Vertonghen was his first choice but ajax are demaning ridicoulus fee)

Yann mvila (done deal, ignore other news)

He wanted one of hazard,kagawa,götze and is still trying to get kagawa even though its a longshot. Matiaz suarez is the first alternative on the list with Alexander Merkel as second choice.

Lizzandro Lopez of lyon(talks have began with his people), the alternatives on the list are Oliver Giroud, Bjorn bergmann sigurdarsson(lillestrom), John Guidetti.

Cheers

This actually sounds quite plausible. you didn't just make it all up though, did you?

Agree0 Disagree0

Havent heard the lopez one yet, i like him, wouldnt mind if it were true

bs18

Agree0 Disagree0

Good and accurate post but I'd wouldn't quite rule out Goetze get the impression Wenger/Arsenal are determined on this signing by previously making our highest ever bid. I know he's extended his contract but you never know.

Agree0 Disagree0

I swear merkel signed for ac milan not so long ago

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know all this?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate your talking out your rear

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard at chelsea kagawa going to united nd gotze high transfer sum

Agree0 Disagree0

McGregor?? If this is the summit of our ambition, then we really are in trouble (and you can forget some of the more optimistic/exotic targets being touted on this website). A second rate keeper from a third rate, bankrupt club. Apart from Chesney, Wenger's record on keepers is fairly dismal. He inherited Seaman and since then has bought dross.

Agree0 Disagree0

U forgot lehman he was a brilliant goalkeeper in his day and when you have 3 keepers in the squad u r gonna only use 1 so 2 are gonna be bad so he's had seamen, lehman, almunia and szchezny as first choice who have all done well when playing reguarly

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes m'vila will be sick with song and wilshere/arteta

Agree0 Disagree0

When are my fellow Goons going to wake up? Podolski will be the only signing unless RVP leaves which is more than likely. Diaby and Wilshere will be paraded as new signings and we will once again be scrapping for fourth place. The club is being run by a bunch of clowns. Kroeber is rubbing his hands together as he thinks he can spend no money and still get top four.gazidis clearly cannot negotiate and the flapping penguin obviously needs to adjust his narcotic intake if he thinks we've got a team to challenge. I really hope I am wrong but cynicism has overtaken expectation for too many seasons now. We were lucky to get 3rd this year. We'll struggle for for top 6 next year, especially if RVP leaves, as expected.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2012 11:17:06
Wenger will make 3more signings. I said a while ago Afellay was coming, Another top striker, And it will be either, De Jong, Etienne Coupe, Yann m'vila. He wants a defensive screen for Vermaelen and Koscielny. I think he if gets some of these players we will go very close to title next year.

Believable16 Unbelievable9

How close is very close? Third place is close, and they did that this year.

Ypsigooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not think any of these players will come in apart from maybe Mvila. I think it is more likely we get Dempsey, Hoilett and some unknowns.

We need a RB as Jenkinson is useless

Agree0 Disagree0

I t all sounds very good,actually too good to be true.If this was true,it would be great.
As for challenging for the title,with the players you mention,it would be possible,but I think it will be another season keeping the spuds out of the top 4.
Braintreegooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Third is close but the points weren't

Agree0 Disagree0

19 points is not close

Hi Ed, in your opinion who is our most likley next signing going to be at the Emirates? {Ed022's Note - The most likely signing? Well technically speaking Podolski, but excluding him I would say M'Vila, Hoillett and Vertonghen all have a chance.}

Believable10 Unbelievable9

What about dempsey? looking at the past, it is likely that we won't get giroud,top scorer in french league, only a matter of time before city offer 25 mil+ if they can't get persie
Dempsey is actually really good in my opinion and would do well at arsenal as we need more direct players(ox will come good but he still needs more experience)

Agree0 Disagree0

Man City still have

Augero, Teves, Dzeko, Balotelli, Adebayor, and santa cruz, how can they possibly want another striker unless a couple leave!

Agree0 Disagree0

Santa Cruz might as well not be playing for them, I think arsenal should go for him

Agree0 Disagree0

City have great strikers but they want better, apparently they want to offload a few..

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2012 06:56:24
This is for Ed022
please tell us if we are after Hoilett??is Rvp going to make contract extension??? {Ed022's Note - Yes, Arsenal are interested in Hoilett. As far as I know, the talks with RVP have been mixed, and he is now with the Dutch squad so talks will continue after the tournament.}

Chelsea have signed Hulk - £38 million. Bugger.
Drumsofdotl

Believable18 Unbelievable13

We never had a chance.. Even though chelsea have all these good players i still think we will be top four Man city chelsea Arsenal man utd.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha that makes me laugh!

like as if we were ever going to sign him-

come on, lower your expectations, we're talking about arsenal here- 38mil for 1 player? No chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

It will be interesting to see how he fits in at Chelsea. I cant say he is my cup of tea, never been over-impressed.

Agree0 Disagree0

£28 million too much, he was crap against us
going to be a flop

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a drogba-lite...forceful on the ball but not as great in terms of his movement (IMO) .. 38 million is too much

Agree0 Disagree0

No he hasn't signed (yet)

Stefan

Agree0 Disagree0

He should have been signed. but on the other hand if we get van persie to stay and giroud to come in we wouldn't really need him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Massively Over-priced & Over-rated! Has been completely usless against every English side Porto have faced in the Champs League & Europa League.
Porto have stitched Chelski up delightfully!

Agree0 Disagree0

He is not incredible.
Tim Taylor

Agree0 Disagree0

How come Chelsea get to spend so much cash? Marin, Hazard, Hulk, together around 100 mill... And people still give them credit for the trophies they win...

C'est la vie :(

Agree0 Disagree0

He just has all the hallmarks of Julio Baptista!

Impressed in some respect and then got found wanting when he played for Real and us. So good luck to Chelsea wasting a large amount of money if they do sign him! But Arsenal are better off without someone like him!

H man

Agree0 Disagree0

Well look at the bright side, Chelsea will have another guy with extremely high wages, lose 38m on a flop vs top English sides. This should set them up nicely for the Fair Play Rules next season.
cheesy lemon

Agree0 Disagree0

To above poster-

I think there are many(including me) who don't give chesk£ credit at all- just look pre and post abramovich (e.g. 50+ years without a league title, not a coincidence), in terms of what they've won- says all you need to know about a sugar daddy and what has been *bought*. No cred or respect from me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Saying Hulk is overpriced and seriously comparing him with baptista is a joke.
He is an extremely skillful player in almost all aspects and i am sure he will become a big success in Premier League. Just because you don't like Chelsea, doesn't mean you can't give credit to a player from the Chelsea (i know the deal isn't final yet).

So Ronaldinho has quit Flamengo. This would be a great chance for wenger to get him, even though he is old but still could bring experience to the squad

Believable15 Unbelievable33

Thats really a horrific suggestion on so many levels

Agree0 Disagree0

Pa experience! He's wasted his talent, he spends more time drinking then training. Great role model for any youngsters coming through.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ronaldinho hasn't quit, he's been literally thrown out of Flamengo. Their boss said that the player has been paying more attention to nightlife than to playing, he's been terrible all season and looks to me he's dead to big football...

Agree0 Disagree0

Flamengo are saying he was ill-disciplined but Ronaldinho's camp are claiming £12m in unpaid wages, all seems a bit murky to me.

Would have loved to have him at Arsenal in his peak but he'll struggle to play at the top level again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes a no 1 example of a fantastic football being unable to control the limelight and social side of being a top pro! hes still only 32 people forget so i wouldent say hes old, but would a be a disaster signing, i dont see him playing for anyone other than local brazilian clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

I haven't read a stupid post like this in a while.

Hi Ed, I know you've commented on peoples' 'Gotze for Bendtner + cash' deal as being unlikely - understandable, Gotze is the next best thing! Better than Hazard by quite a distance imo... never optimistic about Wenger forking out for such obvious talent - BUT, I'd like to know if there's genuine interest in Bendtner from their part?

Still not expecting any movement regarding Gotze, but I can still hope if there's any chance at all of Bendtner going the other way :D

Has the value on M'Vila now just gone down?
If so is Wenger rubbing his hands

If we want to sign him, this may help, if he misses the euros he wont be on show, giving him no chance of enhancing his ability to potential suitors.

ed, what are the chances of us going in for Honda or Dzagoev ? ive watched these two players alot and they are 2 quality players. I have heard that Dzagoev is available for free, and Honda would be available for between 5-10 million, what do you reckon ed ?

Mac {Ed002's Note - Dzagoev has interested Chelsea in the past but Arsenal have shown a lot of interest this past year including sending a contingent to watch him play in Moscow back last summer. He will be available on a free transfer at the end of the year, not in the summer. Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. Recent enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo and Lazio nearly signed him in January. I suspect Lazio remains the likely destination but Liverpool could revive their interest. Talk of a move to Arsenal periodically arises.}
