French outlet L'Equipe claim Arsenal have looked to steal a march in pursuit of Mbappe's services though.

They say Arsene Wenger has offered £87m for the 20-year-old in the midst of extending his own Emirates stay.

AFC showing intent 😪.

Risible to give any credibility to this "oh look, absolutely no real news to sell our papers/ load real click bait" made up drivel.
Why, why, oh why, oh why, would Kroenke and Wenger spend £100m on a 20 year old when they have never shown the inclination get even mildly close to doing so before and why, just why, does anyone think Wenger has the pulling power anymore. Look at all the talent that has stalled it's development under Wenger in the last 10 years. The Ox, Gibbs, Ramsey, Theo, Sancho (! ) , hell he even stifled the prodigious skill of Bendtner, and that takes some doing!

Max, I dare say you're reaction to this news, whether real or fabricated, is a little jaded. I hadn't ever eaten bacon my entire life, so why oh why would I do it now? Oh wait, I do - lovely bacon buttie every Saturday, for the last 10 years.

As for stalling development of players; perhaps the players have something to do with this too? What makes reading your post even more perplexing is you mentioning Sanchez in your list of players whose development has stalled. His development stalled at Barcelona and playing for Arsenal has again put him on the map where teams are interested in him.

youve talked about stalling on development, Look at Rob Holding bought for 2 mil? now the last 9 games been one of our best players, Theo and OX stalled there own progress, Theo is good for a game goes missing for 3, OX is the same. Sanchez is 3 times the player he was at barca, and let's not forget nasri, cesc, RVP, henry, hleb, pires all world class when they left arsenal all because of wenger. Mbappe and wenger is a perfect match!

I typed Sanogo but didn't check pesky auto "correct". Hence accidental reference to (nearly) Sanchez.
I do feel the players have responsibility for some of their own development, of course, but if the coaching didn't have any influence then what would we have coaches for?
As for Holding, yes I think he has done well this season and long may this progress continue. I suggest Chambers as counsel not to expect too much too soon.
And yes, bacon sandwiches can be a discovery at any time in life but (a) they aren't a £100m gamble and (b) whilst I don't know the author of the bacon sarnie epiphany, I make my comment of extreme doubt based on the last few years if watching Kroenkes business moves. Any serious move for Mbappe would be wholly out of kilter and in my view, as Wenger is nowhere near the pull of Klopp, Mourinho, Guardiola, Cute, or even now Pochetino, and with no Champions League to lure, I ask again why we would even think we are in with a hope of buying Mbappe for such a vast amount of money?

Max, make light of my previous aversion to bacon at your own peril. While they may not cost 1 million quid, the point I was trying to make is, just because something hasn't been done before doesn't mean that it will never be done.

There are several reasons why he might choose Arsenal, one of them being that he'll get first team football with us. At Real, Man City, he'd likely be behind a couple of other players. Not being in the Champions League this season when we have a history of always qualifying for it is something I personally feel will not be as detrimental as some people make it out to be. Lastly, like J10 pointed out, we have a history of developing world class players. I think you are selling us well short of being a destination for up and coming players like Mbappe.

Also, what world stars have Klopp and Poch pulled in lately?

Anyone else see the prize money paid out by the Premier League this season.

At £139 million for finishing 5th we only got £11 million less than Chelsea did for winning it.

Sunderland got £93 million for finishing bottom.

That is some serious cash.

Let's home we can plough the majority of that cash into our transfer targets.

Good news for the players but not so good for the fans, that money needs to come from somewhere and there is ultimately only one place to get it, the public.
Yes there is advertising money but the advertisement is only aimed at the fans too so ultimately it's 100% the watching public who pay.
Increased transfer fees increased wages increased prices have to follow.

I understand that an agreement for the the Ox to go to Liverpool has already been done (transfer fee believe to be £20m) . Liverpool have promised regular football and a central mid-field role and this is what sealed the deal. You may have noticed the Ox saying he wanted to be just like Gerard with a simle on his face in the post match interview following the FA cup victory. Sad news really as he has bags of potentially and will probably go on to score loads of goals when he leaves.

If it's true it's a good move for the lad imo, at Arsenal especially under Arsene he will always be seen as a boy with lots of time to become a regular and be subbed and dropped repeatedly no matter how well he does.
If Klopp pays 20 million for him he rates him and he will get his chance to shine as more than an apprentice he will always be with us.

Exactly the same as Ramsey, no one plays in there right position at arsenal, Ramsey given the Ozil roll would get 15 -20 goals but won't be given a chance in that role because he won't drop Ozil.

The news has come from a reliable source close to the club and I am surprised it has not been released yet. My only guess is that until the club has some good transfer news to release they will try to keep it under wraps. Ed can you shed any light on this? And has anything been heard your end?

{Ed025's Note - there is a lot of speculation over it 1989 but nothing concrete at this time, with him saying he wants to be the next gerrard it has gone viral but its a bit premature yet mate..

Cech plays in the right role 😉.

Macau on the lfc rumors has stated ox is looking very likely. Didn't think you would let him go as he shows the most drive in your team. Just dropped in to see how you rated him as I haven't seen too much of him tbh. Thanks in advance.

When he was only getting occasional sub appearances out on the wing fans were unconvinced and he really suffers from a lack of regular game time, but he was still making direct runs and trying to take on players and shoot more than everyone else other than Sanchez. Given game time his end product Improved with his confidence.

He's actually my favourite arsenal player. Strong, direct, hardworking, versatile. Would be gutted if he left as he is close to being a huge asset. Hope it's not true!

Keep seeing lacazette mentioned now with athletico Madrid's transfer ban being upheld. I asked ed if he'd still be going and thought il post here so everyone stops asking.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know - it would be a year delay and I imagine interest from elsewhere will come to the fore. }

So there we are guys. I doubt we'll be in with a shout seeing as no CL. But who knows.

I was wondering if any Ed's knew of any updates regarding tolisso of Lyon and any interest enquiries I'm him. Any insight would be much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal remain interested.}

Hi Eds,

With Arsenal being 5th and out of CL and Wenger signing a new contract do you know who we are looking at regarding forwards and strikers?

Assuming that Sanchez leaves (pessimistic i know but I don't have high hopes of him staying) , Perez looking to leave, Giroud wanting more game time (I hope to God we don't have him leading the line again next season) , Theo's future being uncertain after not featuring much at all, we seem to be quite thin in those positions.

I've had a listen of the Sharkopod and I think we can rule out Turan (no CL for us) , Reus (No CL and he's injured. again) , Lacazette (no CL but Athletico's ban is confirmed so maybe there is a chance? )

Thanks for your time and appreciate the help.

{Ed002's Note - If Arsenal sign Henry Onyekuru then I expect he will have to be loaned out - Lacazette may be looked at again.}

01 Jun 2017 10:18:22
I have been a staunch "Wenger Out" person, but now he's staying I guess it's pointless to bang on now. At least until next seasons promises disappear, or the close season sees little happen bar Sanchez and Ozil leave after protracted holding out for huge fess that don't actually materialise and then Wenger complaining that other clubs want too much for their own players, and anyway there isn't enough time now (sigh) .

On a separate note, Tuchel to Southampton anyone?

ed with atletico transfer ban being confirmed, do you see us pushing for lacazette now or is us not being in the champions league means we won't get him?

{Ed002's Note - They may look to him again.}
