Cabaye keen for arsenal move, Newcastle want 18-20m for a 27 year old, 15m will seal the deal in my opinion.
Believable49
Unbelievable18
Newcastle only paid just over £4million for him, you are right 15 mill should seal the deal
Agree0
Disagree0
Double swoop possible? Ben Arfa & Cabaye for around 30m?
Agree0
Disagree2
Rather spend £20-30 million on a top-notch CDM like Pogba or Kondogbia than 2 average Premier League players with little resale value.
Agree4
Disagree0
Oh yeah, because it is much better to acquire Pogba (who plays reserve role in Juventus) or Kondogbia (inexperienced), than an experienced premier league player. These players have not proven themselves "top-notch" yet, so it would be wasteful to throw £20-30 million after them.

From Wenger on the Ox
"He has a posterior cruciate problem, a ligament which is stretched, " said Wenger. "We don't think it will need surgery, but it will be at least six weeks out."
If true that's much better than the 6 months many were suspecting!
is it clutching at straws to call this good news? {Ed027's Note - I'm told its longer than that
Believable11
Unbelievable19
Does that mean we should add a wide player to the ever growing list of players we need to sign?
Agree2
Disagree0
Well now let's think back because wenger is good at this. I called it when jack was first injured, I said he would be out for a season and he was so I am going to call this now. I think he will be out for a season. cruciate ligaments is probably I bigger destroyer of footballers than leg breaks and it takes a lot longer than six weeks to fix up. if he is out for a season then that means he will lose 2 seasons progression as it will take a season getting back to what he was. sad times for such a talent and it must sooner or later raise the question of why do so many arsenal players get badly hurt. over worked? under conditioned? bad training drills? who knows really but coinsidence is starting to hurt us.
Agree0
Disagree0
Yes.
We needed one before anyway.

What do you guys think about the possibility of Micah Richards? Personality I think the geezer is a tank, somebody we need, also he's English, a gooner and can play right and centre back. Come on arsene pull your tinger out!
Micky {Ed022's Note - Micky you have to register otherwise your posts in future wont be posted...}
Agree1

If transfer policy is anything to go by then he's probably dead :/
Agree0

I have ligament problems in my ankles. a few weeks I don't think so I still have problems 1 year later but I am 40
Agree0
Disagree0
As much as I don't believe Wenger, the difference between strains and tears is weeks and months.
Agree0
Disagree0
It is actually 3 months minimum for this injury.
{Ed022's Note - Thanks doctor. You're needed in surgery. Diaby is injured again...}
Agree1
Disagree0
It will be longer than that. We'll get to about 4.5 weeks and we'll hear he'll be starting to run in a month or something, so that's 8.5 weeks. But maybe 10 days before then we'll hear he's had a setback and it's another month, and this will happen until the initial time of say 6 months will have passed. He'll maybe be like new signing in January and Wenger will get away with running the boys into the ground instead of buying another player.
Agree1
Disagree0
Just looked it up its either a grade I or II tear which is minor so 6 - 8 weeks should be around enough time to heal and about 8 - 10 weeks for full match fitness. which isn't too bad.
Agree0
Disagree0
And I've done my knee ligaments previously not sure which it was a while ago but that was 6 - 8 weeks recovery.
Agree0
Disagree0
You joke about the doctor part Ed, but.
Agree0
Disagree0
Remember guys, this is the Arsenal medical team we are talking about - and this will take much longer than 6-8 weeks. They always seem to make matters worse - remember Wilshere, Rosicky and RVP picking up minor knocks and missing most, if not all of a season - and as for Diaby.
Agree0
Disagree0
Minimum 2 months to begin light training (ie jogging). Then there's always the possibility it's not healing right and needs surgery - call that another 3 months. I don't think we'll see him back until Feb.
{Ed022's Note - Ah lighten up people! So what? He's injured. Nothing we can do. Moooooooooove on!!}

things can only improve. one game. but the fact we had 3 months to prepare a squad that scares me.
there seems to be no urgency!
Agree0

Surely any tiny chance- and I can't believe it would be even that big- vanished when Marchisio got injured (4-6 weeks) the other night.
Seriously, I suspect this one, like plenty of others this summer, might just have been perpetrated by folks who delight in our dissapointment

I've heard about an enquiry for Iker Casillas . I know it's absurd but who knows, maybe Wenger can pull this up .
{Ed022's Note - When you say pull this up... you need to remove "pull" for a word beginning with F, that rhymes with truck...}

Sevilla confirm contract discussions have opened with Kondogbia and a €15m bid from an unnamed club has been rejected.
Ed, do you know if the club was arsenal?
{Ed022's Note - Unfortunately at this point, I only know that it is infact a football club...somewhere in Europe...with a stadium...and some fans..}
Believable22
Unbelievable16
If the bid has been rejected sure its Arsenal
Agree2

Must be arsenal, it was rejected wasnt it? What did we offer, thrupence and a hapenny?
{Ed022's Note - fifty quid and a pocket of iced gems...}
Agree1

Can't be us they offered €15,000,000 not €15
Agree0

Teams in spain only selling for buyout clause. and if its arsenal, they will just like to stick t he nail where it hurts.
unfortunately it only hurts the fans. the actual guys who run the club are just having a laugh and drinking some 150 year old scotch

Rules out Arsenal then on the Fans count

Ah. that narrows it down then ed.
if only wenger used your logic, we would have signed some players

Club in question in Monaco.
We have missed this one. All eggs in the Cabaye basket now.
Hilarious, only 4 days ago Wenger was saying that the transfer window would not be panicked like 2 years ago.
What a joke. {Ed022's Note -

Wenger is a joke, Gazidis is a joke, the club is a joke, but this isn't funny!

Just offer 20 mill! just do it!!!!
Agree0

I've heard that Kondogbia has a €18m release clause and Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Juventus are interested so might as well be them. On the other hand an offer that is 2-3 million less than the clause does look like it was Arsenal's.

We are apparently launching a triple swoop for Yohan Cabaye (increased bid of £16M), Geoffrey Kondogbia and Schalke Full Back Atsuto Uchida (Source: )
Other papers/sources mentioning Micah Richards and also double swoop for Swansea pair Michu/Ashley Williams
Don't you think this all reeks of panic!
Would love David Dein back at the club, an excellent transfer negotiator!
{Ed022's Note - Panic buying brings us Park, Santos etc... Should have wrapped up 3-4 signings before the middle of July, end of. Those are the facts...}
Believable30
Unbelievable17
A RB isn't what we need - both of them are fit! we need a CB, GK, DM, CM, LW, ST - absolute shambles of a club at the moment - Willian to spurs is another huge kick in the teeth.
Agree0
Disagree0
Kondogbia will be world class in two/three seasons, described by respected ex pro's and pundits as 'Vieira with a left foot'.
{Ed022's Note - Also mentioned by me on another post...}
Agree1
Disagree0
Rubbish. I love panic buys. When we panic buy, we forget about price negotiations and the price and do whatever it takes to get the player. What we should of done to be honest.
Go Panic Buys. I hope we do it every transfer window. i'm loving this.
{Ed022's Note - A few panic buys of recent years: Squillaci, Santos, Park and five years ago, Mikael Silvestre...}
Agree0
Disagree0
Are you referring to the same Dein who chased an elusive Baptista over an entire summer. Memories are certainly short. Importantly times have changed. The problem, as everyone can see is more with the Manager than with the negotiating team.
Agree0
Disagree0
Here we go again. Every player we go after is suddenly on another clubs radar. Why do we mess around and try and save a few quid when if we were sensible in the first place we could get the deals done quickly and quietly. It is an absolute joke and now that teams know we are despertae the price goes up. Wenger, an economist - rubbish!
Agree1
Disagree0
Panic was quite a good player -Serbian international, can't think why we didn't get him!
{Ed022's Note - I'd take Pjanic at this rate...}
Agree0
Disagree0
Arteta and Mertsesacker were good panic buys
{Ed022's Note - Mertesacker? Really? I've never been 100% convinced or comfortable with him playing. The guy's got a turning circle of an Artic tanker. He's slow and regularly gets out jumped!? Yes, he reads the game well and has formed a partnership with Koscielny but thats because Koscielny is fast enough to cover Mertesacker being stripped for pace. Arteta is quality no doubt about it. More to the point, forget panic buys, sort the transfer early, intergrate them into the squad by taking them on tour, give the the whole Emirates Cup and a friendly against PL opposition in Man City and then have a squad and fans full of optimism and hunger ready for the season rather than Arsenal fans (and probably players who are depressed and fed up...}

Skys latest
More news coming out of Italy, with Roma's director of football Walter Sabatini reported to have flown into London this morning. Tottenham and Arsenal have been linked with Roma forward Erik Lamela, with Spurs said to be closing in on the highly-rated Argentina international.
Getting more and more gutted if Spurs land this one as well, pfffff dint Lamela only want to play for a CL Club?
Believable16
Unbelievable15
Thats cause at this rate the spurs are a sure thing to finish in the top 4 with Arsenal looking likely to finish outside the top 6. I know its a long way to go, but I can't see us attracting the types of players we need. Only signing between now and the end of the window will be Flamini. We can make a decent bid even when we're desperate.
Agree1
Disagree0
At least Flaminis on a free so can be signed when the windows shut (if we found noone else). I know its besides the point though. Ugh Arsenal.
Agree0
Disagree0
Yea but he is not arsenal "quality" ( pronounced with french accent). if you know what wenger says. I myself don't know what "quality"( pronounced with french accent) we look for.
maybe the player has to cost next to nothing, he has to be ready to accept the minimum wage, and have exceptional footballing ability.
yes Viola I think I understand now.
Agree0
Disagree0
It may not have been you, but I have seen 'Viola' a few times on the rumours page recently. I think you mean 'voila'. Unless, of course you do indeed mean a large violin type instrument.
I'm not being a total person, leaving the accent off the a is to be expected.
Viola!
:oops:
{Ed022's Note - Whether it's voilà or Viola (yes, small bowed string instrument, I think we got the point...}
Agree0
Disagree0
But Lakerville, if it's Flamini you are referring to he definitely was 'Arsenal quality' especially in that final season. Many of us were sad to see him go. We lost some steel and bite for the following years.

Arsenal representatives in Valencia today looking at vincente guaita (keeper), got to be better then Szczesny
{Ed022's Note - Has to be Begovic for me all day long...}
Believable21
Unbelievable13
I really hope this is not true. Remember almunia he's a carbon copy of the guy. Begovic or ruffier even cesar are the comanding keepers we need .things are not right at the club at the moment wish david dein was still on board .Peace
Agree1
Disagree0
Better than szczesny? So is my grandmother.
{Ed022's Note - Wenger, sign her up! Wenger, Wenger, sign her up!}
Agree1
Disagree0
Cheers ed! only problem is, as we know too well, he doesn't like players over the age of 19. Seriously though, why are we in this position. Good keepers are available. Is it pure stubbornness? Szczesny seems like a real nice guy, but anyone can see he's never going to be Arsenal quality.
{Ed022's Note - I have said this before and got criticised for it but Wenger is almost too loyal to his players. Think about it this way, Fergie, who is without doubt the greatest manager ever, didn't run his teams on loyalty. If the players weren't good enough, they were out of the side, or sold. There is no fear in Arsenal. Not enough competition to ensure people are playing to their maximum. Look at Sagna last year. He was having a stinker but Wenger knew Jenks wasn't ready so Sagna carried on. Rafael was having a stinker for united and they were leaking goals against Reading last season and Fergie dragged Rafael off after 35mins! United won the game, Rafael went away, worked hard and finished the season first choice RB. United won the league...}

Ed do u see Arsenal getting pogba and is there any truth behind the rumours that we have biddded 20 million for him.
{Ed022's Note - Speculation regarding the bid. I have mentioned on here before Wenger has always like Pogba and wanted him before Man Utd beat us to him (sound familiar?) I don't think he'l be going anywhere this summer in my humble opinion...}
Believable19
Unbelievable12
Pogba is really well liked by the Juventus coach there are some political issues surrounding Juventus' current midfielders that mean his game time has been restricted but an injury to his direct competitor means he will not be sold.

Given the injury of Marchiso -
As much as I would want this one to happen, I stuggle to believe it will! :(
