What's this small rumour about arsenal being in contact with A Madrid over griezman?

Think you had the wrong glasses on mate.

It actually said, 'Arsenal in contact with West Brom over Johnny Evans'.

'In contact'?

This sounds an awful lot like the start of the reason why I've a 200 feet restraining order from Natalie Dormer.

Even if we are, which I very much doubt, we need an out and out striker and a CB, as well as cover at RB, unless Debuchy stays. Clubs know our desperation, so signing players will only be at inflated prices. Even Xhaka at over £30m, compared to Wanyama at £11m, doesn't make sense.

Only saying what I've seen lads lol.

If we truly are turning to Johnny Evans, this club is in even greater turmoil than we all think.

I can imagine the answer but I'm going to ask anyway, is it true we've bid £41.9mil for draxler? Thanks ed's, fantastic works as usual.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - sorry mate, as far as I know it is not true. At least that you have made a bid. I have asked if there has been any kind of communication regarding him, but haven't got any answer on that yet.}

22 Aug 2016 11:40:18
Cheers ed, i thought as much tbh. Just out of curiousity how do you get hold of all your info? I take it you have sources close to arsenal and other EPL clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it varies on the club. Lots of talking to people involved in the game, agents etc. The best info is the stuff you get just by having a normal conversation though, rather than when you have to chase it. Some of the things that can be found out is very enlightening, especially if you are able to piece it together with little titbits someone else has said while not mentioning names.}

22 Aug 2016 12:13:52
So do you know anything on the arsenal front if we are actually going for players so for asking thought I'd try eds and great work as always.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Arsenal are always looking around, but there is nothing happening as such that I know of. Arsenal have a tendency to want to pay too little, so they get all these minor deals done, and right now they are being very tight on terms. I can't be sure why, I mean there is defo money there, but they clearly do not want to spend it for some reason. So deals they look at are quickly given up on. Such as defenders. Mustafi, they get told what was wanted but won't go anywhere near that amount, not even near enough for serious negotiations. I would not hold your breath for anything being done, Arsene does not like last minute panic buys.}

Thanks for the update ed - any chance of a potential list? We are all getting a little nervous
Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - lists is more Ed002's thing, as he has a database he can just access. I don't keep the details I get sent, because a lot of it has personal stuff in it. I keep saying I will start a database I can access from anywhere, but haven't got round to it. My memory is not really good enough to do a full list but that is not such a problem for Arsenal as right now, as far as I know, there is not a lot happening. While Arsene wants a centre back and centre forward, all his attempts seem to have fallen flat for now.}

22 Aug 2016 14:20:35
Ed, if this is Arsene's last season in charge who is the club considering to take over? I know you said Koeman was a front runner, along with Remi Garde, but both of those now seem highly unlikely.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - far too soon now mate. They will have to look at who is available at the time. They do keep tabs on ones like Koeman. Henry and Vieira are always possibilities too, depending on what they are doing.}

22 Aug 2016 14:56:00
Good work ed, any interest in the porto lad brahimi? Rumours going around that we want him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I know Stoke wanted him, Everton are keen and West Ham like him. I don't know about Arsenal though sorry.}

22 Aug 2016 15:14:22
Thanks for the reply ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome mate. What Arsenal need is some movement in the market to open up opportunities to pick up players.}

22 Aug 2016 17:05:50
Yer but we never seem to do it I ain't saying go spend 100mil on a player but get what we need in even if 75mil on 2 but holding looks good but he ain't the answer at the moment.

Appreciate the response, Ed. Do you think Tuchel or Schubert would be realistic targets for us? Personally I think they'd both do a wonderful job and both like to play the kind of football that us Arsenal fans love to see.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes, if the club can sell its plans for the future to them. The budget of Premier League teams makes them extremely attractive.}

22 Aug 2016 18:45:44
Hi Ed! Is it possible the club are saving money so a new manager can rebuild without pennypinching? Thank you for your great work!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no, I just think they are being run to make a profit.}

22 Aug 2016 20:14:50
Ed, a belated thank you. Just read your reply and appreciate it. Sounds like we need some movement which seems a similar message to what AW has been stating

Fingers crossed and hopefully we dust down our wallets and spend some money.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I dread editing this site if no one is signed!}

22 Aug 2016 20:40:26
I can imagine especially as we signed a striker who can't play for us, a youthful CB and a CDM who many say is a luxury. If we don't sign someone, you may need to close the site or ban Malaga and Steve et al
Sounds like you have your fingers crossed also.
If you hear anything - can you post it please?
Thanks again.

{Ed001's Note - believe me I will if I do.}

Is there any interest in Chicarito or rugani.

Any truth in the rumours that the winger we have been linked with today - draxler and the Porto winger?

Hi Eds,

Is James Rodriguez really available and have Arsenal shown any interest in him (now or previously) ?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - he is available but no. I know Arsene likes to collect attacking midfielders, but he has been found out at Madrid as not being anywhere near as good as the hype. With the price Madrid are looking for, he is not of interest to Arsenal.}

22 Aug 2016 09:39:41
Ed, I don't really watch La Liga but, like everyone else, I was impressed with most of his goals at the World Cup - long shots and great solo runs!

I know he's not rated as much these days and when you say he's been found out, what are his flaws since he obviously has talent. Is he inconsistent and can have too many games where he doesn't turn up? Or was it simply that he was at top form at the WC and he doesn't usually play anywhere near that well?

My bad, as I finish typing this, I realise this isn't really Arsenal related so may not get a reply.

22 Aug 2016 11:32:18
Thanks Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - sorry TPG my bad for not answering. He plays well in international footie where there is ample space and the game is slow. In club football he is too slow to keep pace with the game, not just foot speed, but mentally, and games tend to pass him by. He does still score the odd screamer though.}

24 Aug 2016 13:46:20
Cheers ed :) yeah that makes sense, loads slower pace at the WC compared to even la liga - surely he'd be even worse in the premier league since it's extremely fast paced and can get quite ugly with less time for beautiful football.
